Amazing Indian food, fantastic staff, atmosphere and price. We LOVED this place. Couldn't give 6 stars, so it has to be 5.

We were a party of four with no reservation but they found a table for us easily in the busy restaurant. Poppadoms were delicious with the four sauces/ toppings that go with them. Onion bhajis and sizzling mushrooms were a treat. The dinner portions were large but absolutely bursting with flavour. The staff were so friendly and not overbearing in the slightest. Five stars and would recommend people to go here.

Booked in at the weekend due to visiting Bakewell. The only indian restraunt in the area? Staff were very attentive and helpful. Menu very varied and very good choices. The food was very good. No complaints from me apart from the atmosphere. Did get better as more people arrived. Recommend a visit when in Bakewell.

Brilliant for families, couples or a get together with friends. All the staff are extremely pleasant and find time to chat and make you feel special whilst maintaining a professional manner. The food is well prepared and well presented and there is plenty of choice, including cold puddings. The restaurant is very clean, cutlery and plates well polished. Highly recommended. Thank you all for a wonderful Valentines evening.

Great prices and brilliant service and food

Good Indian take away. Delivered within the time stated. Food was hot when it arrived which is usually unusual for a takeaway, so definitely liked that! Food was fine, no problems, good portions.

Me and my husband had a lovely meal at Rajas Indian Restaurant. The decor was authentic and vibrant, the music really set the scene. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. Our food tasted delicious and my husband says his vindaloo was one of the best he had tasted in a long time. The service was great and the staff were friendly and efficient. A really enjoyable meal out in Bakewell.

We remembered eating at Rajas a few years ago when staying in Bakewell, and decided to visit again. We were not disappointed. There is so much choice on the menu it takes ages to read! I decided on the Arabian Lamb and it was absolutely divine, so tender, and the sauce was gorgeous. My husband had the mixed Biryani and was more than satisfied. The service was excellent, despite being busy with both diners and take-aways, and we were very happy. We would definitely recommend this restaurant, and wish we lived nearer!

Great indian food with exceptionally friendly and helpful servers. Massive poppadoms (so be careful when you order) however the accompanying chutneys were a bit sweet for our liking.

Slop on a plate. The two chicken curries we ordered were absolutely swimming in oil, I had to drain it off before we could even attempt to serve the food. The sides were the same too. Don’t understand why the food needs to be swimming in oil! It was disgusting.

Lovely food and friendly staff. Parking is just over the bridge with a large pay carpark nearby. Reservation is easy to make via the website.

The food is poor, the curry’s are not authentic in any way and the bill was very expensive. The worst curry we’ve ever had.

We had a really lovely meal here. We can particularly recommend the Chicken Tikka Bhuna which was delicious. We’d almost stopped going out for Indian food as supermarket ready meals had gotten so good, but this restaurant reminded us just how good proper Indian food can be.

Popped in for a spontaneous curry with my partner tonight and had one of the nicest tikka masalas I have ever had! We booked a table for 2 at 8 and when we arrived they couldnt find the booking even though we only made it an hour beforehand. They seperated a table of four for us and we ordered a couple of beers which arrived and were slammed down on our table. That was the pattern of service for the rest of our meal. Despite my friend still eating they tried to clear our plates three times. The food was ok although i have never eaten pasander which was pink before. I wouldnt eat there again.

The food was 5/5, we really liked it. They only lost a point for putting everybody together when there was space to seat people apart, so we ended up sitting next to a big loud group of strangers even though there was plenty of space elsewhere. I never really understand why places do that. Definitely worth a visit if you like Indian food.

We dined here last night and really enjoyed it. Onion Baji was very nice as was the Arabian Lamb and Chicken Tika Rezala. The service was efficient and friendly. We found it reasonably priced and would definitely eat there again.

Loved the food and the service here, so much that we came back a second night! The aloo dal was especially delicious. We can also recommend the saag paneer, tarka dal, and garlic naan.

This was one of the best Indian meals I have had for a long time. Deliciously fresh and served hot. Service was excellent and it was good value given the quality of the food.

Despite the fact that there were some very negative comments about this restaurant on trip advisor we decided to give it a try while staying in bakewell. I am very glad we did as we found the food to be very good and the naan bread was the best i have ever eaten

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant. Living just 20 minutes drive away it's our go to Indian restaurant. We have never been disappointed. We always go early evening and order a selection of dishes. Staff are lovely and happy to spend time explaining the dishes when we want to try something new. Reasonable prices for delicious food. Following a days walking my wife and I were looking forward to an Indian meal. We had reserved a table early at 6pm. On arrival, as might be expected, the restaurant was virtually empty. We were shown to a table near the door and till probably used for takeaway pick ups. We asked to sit away from the door to be met with a number of reasons why this was not possible. 9 people were arriving imminently. Of the circa 25 tables all were booked at 6pm despite the booking system showing ready availability. We decided almost immediately to seek out another restaurant with better customer service and as we were walking out the door were offered a good table which had miraculously become available. Following an excellent meal at another restaurant in Bakewell we walked past Raja’s to find it largely empty. Enough said.

Best Indian restaurant I have visited in years

Perhaps one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited. Friendly staff, nice restaurant and most of all great food at a reasonable price. The downside is, I keeping with the rest of Bakewell, the prices of drinks soft and alcohol are extortionate. Enjoy the great food but ask for a jug of water.

We attended Rajas on a one night stay in Bakewell on our way back down from Scotland, heading for Essex. The staff were friendly and attentive and surrounding comfortable, the food was tasty and well cooked. I'd say it was ab average serving. It was late so we didn't want too much food so only had soft drinks and a main course with rice, no starter or dessert. The Bill arrived and was £64, which we thought was a little high compared to home but as we were in a touristy area we thought the price must be the price! Although we had only had two small cokes and a large lime and soda our drinks bill came to £14! I queried this with the gentleman who came to take payment, thinking maybe someone else's drinks had been put on our bill in error? Only to be told, no its £4 each for the cokes and an eye watering £6 for the lime and soda!!! That is no alcohol, just a jot of lime cordial in fizzy water! That's more than London prices. To say we felt completely ripped off is an understatement. It would probably have been cheaper to drink lager! Over all not a bad experience but marred by blatant over pricing of soft drinks!!!

Came here on a whim and was the best decision I made. The best Indian food I have ever had. Great selection of dishes and were served on a heated tray which was a great touch. Decor is a bit dated but I really don’t mind because the food was phenomenal

Ordered a takeaway, told out order would be ready in 45 minutes, went for a pint in pub next door. Arrived back 45 minutes latter to pick up. 30 minutes later the meal arrived. Quick 5 minutes back to the caravan really looking forward to...

The food was good but the portions were small, the thing that disappointed us was the massive leap in price difference from the takeaway menu to the eat in restaurant menu. This has put us off visiting again.

Recommended! I asked for “extra hot/spicy” lamb jalfrazi and the container was labelled “mad hot” 😁 and it was delicious! Thank you. I tasted some of the chicken tikka dhaal and it seemed like really high quality meat and tasty sauce. As was the veg main/sides. Poppadum, naan and onion barjs all solid too.

Stayed for a sat night in Bakewell at the Queens 22.4.23 👍then finished the night off at Rajas not our first visit here Always top food and service. There was 4 of us and all starters and mains were Fantasic as always . Came in after being recommended by various people in our campsite and the pub we were drinking at and glad we did! Excellent flavours in everything we ordered. The Chicken Tikka Rezala was spectacular and so was the Lamb Sabji. We had 2 vegetarians on our table and they enjoyed their meals as well. It was great to see a lot of vegetarian dishes on the menu. Friendly and attentive staff who were more than happy to answer our questions. They are fully licensed which is a bonus and offer a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks . 5 out 5. Keep up the good work.

Given 1 star because the delivery driver was a nice guy . Ordered a takeaway & wish we hadn't bothered it was The worst Indian takeaway I've ever had ! Ordered butterfly prawns, paid £6.50 for 2, yes just 2 overcooked dry prawns what a rip off !! The rest of the food wasn't much better, luke warm when it arrived & the majority of it went in the bin !!

The waiter who took the order was rude. They served curries to all other people on a hot top so that curries remain hot but not to us. Not even provided even after we asked for it. Also not even a single time the staff came and ask if the service was good. We asked for cucumbers for the kid they were not able to give that too. Pathetic service and rude staff. Food was ordinary, but desert was really good. Have visited better places. Not going to visit again.

I honestly don't know if it was my expectation which went wrong or the food wasn't actually good. We bought biryani, chilli cheese naan, chiken tikka(special curry) and fish masala as starter.. I was not impressed with any of the dishes we bought.. Sadly, I wont recommend this place especially if you are from India.

We ate on Friday 17th February, party of 6. It was a great atmosphere. We all fully enjoyed our starters and mains. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. We shall be going again for take outs.

I don't understand how this place has got such high reviews. I've eaten at many Indian restaurants and the food here has to be some of the worst I've ever had. The pickle tray was average at best- what the strange, brown offering is I do not know but it was vile!! I love a fish curry and choose the monk massala and was disappointed. It was served in a generic curry which was heavily oiled (could have been ghee) but I could not taste the fish at all and what few chunks I had were way over cooked. My wife had a chicken tikka balti and whilst edible was average at best. I wouldn't normally write a poor review however this meal then caused me to be violently ill a few hours later and several times after. My wife, whilst not sick, did not feel well either The staff were good and attentive but that cannot make up for the experience we had.

Great curry, good flavour good price could not recommend more this is our 4th takeaway from this place we get it when we stay on the local camp site.

Very bland with the mixed tandoori overcooked... the prawn puri was not a prown puri with coconut which is not right... ie nothing like it should be... main course was Biryani (prawns) overcooked and bland with the the vains still in and the curry sauce...
