Maazi Indian Restaurant in Derbyshire Dales

Maazi did the catering for a special family event. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating and the food, as always, was exceptional. The set up and clear away was professional, unobtrusive and friendly. Definitely will recommend if someone is looking for catering. Thank you for helping make our event so special.

What has happened to this place..? We've used maazi in Matlock for many years and seen it steadily go downhill. The food is lacking flavour has a horrible texture and is full of oil. We won't be having a takeaway or dine in again. What a pity because the owner is lovely.

Ate here in October 2024. Early evening mid week for a curry for the pair of us. Despite being seated before 630pm it was quite busy, and the takeaway service was steady too. However, we were welcomed warmly by the staff, and service was excellent, no delays at all, Not being big eaters we ordered 2 curries (king prawn dansak and chicken Kashmir), a pilau rice and a Bombay aloo. Washed down with a huge cobra and Diet Coke. Lovely hot plates, rose petals on the table too, very pleasant environment. It was all lovely but as is normal we couldn’t finish it. They were very happy to put the excess into a takeaway container, and a nice gesture was that they popped a container of rice in there too! And no extra charge. We left feeling full and very content. We shall return. 👍👍

Thank you so much for the wonderful Indian banquet you made for us. It was so tasty and all our guests commented on how fantastic it was. The gentleman who brought it and set it all up, and then collected again later, was polite, friendly and so helpful. It looked amazing when it was all set up in the trays, and kept warm all evening. And then for him to have to return in the horrendous storm! Well done to him! We had used you once before for another event, and we weren’t disappointed this time either! Thank you. We booked here for my daughters 18th birthday and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. The food was exceptional and we enjoyed the atmosphere too. Top marks to Maazi, we had a lovely time. Thank you.

Ordered a takeaway online for delivery. Online ordering was easy and prices are very reasonable compared to home. Delivery was £1 which is very cheap. Food arrived well packed and on time. Quality was great. Highly recommended.

We were at a show nearby for the weekend,we fancied a curry so when we rang & asked if they could deliver to the address & postcode we gave they said yes that’s fine,ordered a Chicken Dhansak Madras hot & Chicken Tikka masala & rice. Took nearly an hour & delivery driver went to wrong gate where there was a very rude Lady,spoke to my Husband in an aggressive way & told us we shouldn’t be ordering! We got our food in the end & the delivery driver was really nice & wasn’t happy with the Ladies attitude. I’m afraid to say that the food was not brilliant & was certainly not Chicken Dhansak more like Madras & so hot that my husband could not eat,the tikka masala was very bland & sauce extremely runny. Sorry but apart from the delivery driver the rest is a big fail

Our first visit to Maazi Restaurant with friends. Visited on a Saturday Evening having made a Reservation. Busy and smart Restaurant with excellent Service from start to finish. We had Papadoms and drinks and opted for main courses. I had Dhaba Chicken Curry. My wife had Aunty Paveen's Fish Curry and our friends had Arabian Lamb and Chicken Bhuna . We also had Rice , Tarka Dall and some Nan Bread. My Chicken Curry has to be one of the most outstanding dishes that I have ever had in an Indian Restaurant. Fantastic taste and quality. We had further drinks of wine and beers and we enjoyed a lovely evening. All plates were cleared and the Service was prompt , efficient and helpful throughout the meal. We all felt that this was a Restaurant of the highest quality. I am looking forward to a return visit and I would wholly recommending Maazi to anyone. My thanks to the Staff.

This was our first visit to Maazi Matlock and can guarantee it won’t be our last. Staff were extremely attentive and I was recommended a dish I have never tried before, Lahore Chicken by Ali, it was spot on, taste was amazing. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant and can’t wait to go back again.

We were staying in Matlock and booked this restaurant at short notice. The food was very good and so was the service. Unfortunately, there were no desserts available or mint tea.

Amazing food taste was unbelievable and great price had lovely staff my only grumble was we had a table for 2 which was so very small next to the door upstairs so we felt cramped and got knocked by staff and passers going to toilet and bar

Visiting area for one night and found this place referred to positively on a celiac gluten free forum (as my partner is celiac). Walked in without a booking and had a warm welcome and excellent service from Isuri, who was an absolute star all evening. We ordered king prawn starter and mixed platter starter after papadams and pickles. The starters were large proportions and really nicely presented. The mains and sides that followed were equally as good, served by Ali. If we lived within 20 miles we would be regular customers. Look forward to eating here again when back in the area

We were warmly welcomed by Suri when we arrived at Maazi last night and were served excellent food by Ali and his attentive staff. We shared a mixed starter, my wife had Chicken Jalfrezi and I thoroughly enjoyed the Maazi Kushbu with mushroom rice - what a treat!!!!

Looks nice outside. A bit bland inside. Menu was very good and the food was equally good. Staff were excellent. Recommended Indian, food much better than The Balti in Matlock Bath.

Just had our third meal for 2 delivered and it just gets better. Packed securely in a sturdy box the food was still hot even though it came from Matlock. Not only did we get the 2 meals we ordered with rice and Nan bread, but then we opened numerous other containers with an assortments of dips and tasty surprises. We’ve had Indian takeaways previously but never one as tasty as from MAZZI

The food is amazing and the service so friendly and to top it all off the prices are extremely fair would absolutely recommend!

Food was OK, Service was awful. We arrived at 8.25 for our booking at 8.30 told to sit and wait. When we were seated at 8.40 no-one one came to take any order for another 20 minutes. When we eventually ordered we chose poppadoms and pickle tray to start. Which we never received, our main course came eventually after them taking this to another table first. When we mentioned we'd not had our poppadoms etc, we got an apology of "sorry it is hectic tonight ". We got offered a free drink as way of apology. We had to ask multiple times for the bill then ended up taking this to the bar to pay as no-one came back to us. We were there from 20.25 to 22.00 to only get curry and rice each and 2 drinks. Other tables not cleated quickly we noticed after other customers left dirty dishes etc remained on tables for at least 30 minutes after. Disgusting service

We ate here on Christmas Eve. Restaraunt full and everyone busy but service was friendly and efficient. All the staff dressed up for Christmas and making an occasion of it. Food was all good, especially the naan breads.

We went on a busy Friday in December. In hindsight this was a mistake as it was very busy and extremely noisy. Food varied between excellent (Fish Amritsar and Prawn Puri) and below par (Mixed Platter starter). Service was friendly, but haphazard. We ordered 4 poppadoms and pickles. When they didn’t appear we chased them up and 2 poppadoms and pickles appeared. We were charged for 4. We couldn’t be bothered to argue and didn’t leave a tip.

Fancied a treat after a hard week, so nipped in on a Friday evening on the way home from work. Good portion sizes and the food was hot and tasty. Highly recommend the cheese garlic and coriander naans, and my hyderbadi lamb was so succulent. Might have to treat myself in a day or two because it was so good, and today has been another hard day, so I guess it's justified 😍🤤 #girlmath

Positives Varied menu Tasty food - poppadoms, onions bhajis and curries Food not oily at all Perfect portion size Spacious restaurant Convenient location close by to other bars and car parks Could improve Not wheelchair or pram friendly - 3 sets of stairs we had to carry my friends baby up in the pram. Flush not working in the ladies toilet and when staff informed they didn’t appear to have a resolution for this. Men’s toilets - one out of order, other had a faulty flush. Service slow, we had to ask numerous times for items such as salt and drinks.

Found this place online with fabulous reviews. So I booked and we were not disappointed! All of the food and drink we had was top notch. Great place and would go back again and again!

When we arrived our booking wasn’t checked the first table we rejected in the door then we were placed on a table in a corner the floor had two large parties going on which were very loud to the point we couldn’t hear each other or have a conversation, ordered food and drinks which took a long time to arrive. The starters were mixed platter which looked nice but that is where it ends the prawns and lamb couldn’t be cut, never mind eaten, the kebab chicken & lamb tikka were so spiced it burnt my mouth the onion bhaji was bland. The mains arrived two curries one rice dish Bombay potatoes plus pheswari nana the Bombay potatoes was basically four large potatoes in a watery spiced sauce the curries weren’t much better being over spiced, the nana was cold like the rice, almost all of the food left as not able to eat it. We paid and left as the the two large parties were getting even louder. Very disappointing, food, the setting/seating, service. Will not return

The food was lovely when we got it after a long,long wait,drinks were same.For drinks we had to ask 4 times for forgotten drinks.To be honest I had gone off eating by the time food came.The food was lovely when arrived but service very slow.I think there was too many bookings and not enough staff to serve.
