Disappointed. Too oily. And they have changed the sauce that goes with starters. ( mint) now white and horrible.

I've known the family of owners since the '80s & they rarely(if @all) let us down when we come to The Raj. Gr8 selection, gr8 food, gr8 service, nice welcome, nice wines & beers, etc. What more could you want? Competitive prices? You'll get it here for sure. Would highly recommend you give them a try.

As always, food was amazing. Everyone has their own place they go for Indian food. This is mine every time,the buffet on a Sunday is brilliant sit back and let the guys bring you dinner to die for.

Would be a 5 star as enjoyed eating here. The 2 stars is removed for drinks policy. They didn't itemize the drinks, when questioned i was told it was £5.75 for a pint of coke haha. Why ruin a good place by ripping people on drinks like that..

Only eaten in the Raj twice, first time was a few years ago and the food was cold when it was served. And the second time was more recently, on both occasion I came away dissatisfied with my dinning experience at the Raj. Personally I feel there are better Indian restaurant in Harlow than the Raj.

Always a good experience coming here, such friendly staff and super tasty, flavourful food! One of my families favourite places to eat for a celebration, atmosphere is nice and comforting :)

In my opinion, probably the best Indian in Harlow. Great customer service offered from an excellent experienced manager.

It was delivered when we had snow which we appreciated, however the attitude of the restaurant staff was awful. Stating they shouldn't be delivering and then putting the phone down before the conversation had ended. I do apologise to the delivery driver, however by the time the food was delivered the staff in the restaurants attitude had let down the job they were doing. Disappointing.

Atmosphere was provided by our group. Chicken was a little dry. Lamb was very nice. Rice was a little dry. Seating arrangement very awkward for easy conversion. Waiter bumped into me spilling my drink with no apology offer of reimbursement.

Delicious food, we ordered a sharing platter and every dish was amazing. Staff are all really friendly. Definitely the best in Harlow

We have been using Raj for years. The quality used to be fantastic and the service was always top quality. That is no longer the case. We have had to wait 2 hours for cold food and half portions. Sometimes the food is literally swimming in oil. This place isn't cheap and you don't even get a full container of food. The delivery times have also gotten progressively worse. Most times it takes well over an hour. We will no longer be using this company. Shame as it used to be one of the best in the town.

Scores on the doors gave these guys a 5 out of 5, so we tried a takeaway for the first time from here and it was pretty good & tasty, nice flavours, rich sauces, yum. My partner said it was the best curry he'd had down south compared to when he lived near Bradford. Only negative (apart from being quite expensive) was the food was ordered for a certain time and I think it was cooked a little early as it was pretty cold by the time we collected it. Would deffo try them again though and hope it's hot next time.

This is our go to local restaurant. Good friendly service and the food is delicious! Caters for all from large parties to couples. Very accommodating so if you have any special requests then they are happy to help. Would definitely recommend.

We tried the Raj lodge tonight for the first time since moving to the area and wow what can we say! My husband and I both said it was by far the best Indian we’d ever had! The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was good and the food was amazing! We will definitely be going back!

Visited Raj lodge late Friday went with my family there was 7 of us. Every time we visit they are very busy so I had to book a week before. As soon as we walked Mo made us feel so welcome we had a great meal the food was outstanding. I’m normally quite fussy hygiene but they have had five stars for as long I can remember. Would highly recommend to everyone by far the best in Harlow try the Jhaal khatto tikka it’s the best .

A disgusting restaurant and a disgrace to Indian food. We've been to many Indian restaurants in our time and have never been disappointed up until now. The food took ages to arrive and when they did, they got the orders wrong. When eventually they were corrected, the food clearly hadn't been cooked properly and my wife was almost sick. Asked to speak to the manager who was rude and had the distinct smell of cannabis coming from his breath. I walked over to the kitchen, where the smell of cannabis was far stronger. We immediately left and won't be returning. This place needs an urgent hygiene review or please close it down before someone becomes seriously ill.

Me & my pal we’re waiting in the restaurant for 1hr 30mins before we received the starter. We both chose the buffet and it shocked me with how basic and cheap it looked and tasted charging £24.99 a head 😮 ! We didn’t re-order nothing because it would of took another hour! It also cost £6.50 for a pint Coke-Cola! I was hoping the manager would apologise and decrease the price but he didn’t and charged £70! I couldn’t believe it and I thought ‘Is this legal?!’ ‘I’ve just been robbed!’ For anyone in Harlow I promise Indian Moments is so much better and worth the money you pay always pick that restaurant over this place! 🙌🏻

Can't compliment the Raj Lodge enough - I took my work colleagues out for a well deserved curry night and we had a great night. Service was exceptional, food delicious and price was reasonable. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much bother. Will be going again and would highly recommend.

Had takeaway delivered cost £53 for 3 meals 2 were stone cold 1 was completely wrong dish and chapatti missing we binned the lot and ordered elsewhere

Good tasteing meal could be a little less stingy on the Prawns but did enjoy it

Had a meal in restaurant on New years Eve. Atmosphere great, food really good, staff charming and funny. Really busy with take out/deliveries, which delayed our food but was in great company, in no rush and the waiter should have his own stand up comedy act...he was hilarious. Would definitely recommend...all in all, a fantastic all round experience.

Food was rubbish , was cold and the lamb was like rubber , plate was dirty and bill was wrong had to question it , use Bengal cottage Up the road staff are more friendly and food is so much better .

Shocking ! Ordered two currys currys was cold. Took over 1 hour to deliver ! Forgot naan bread ! Chicken tikka mosala was diabolical poppadoms were nice about the only thing. WAS a regular customer wore the forgetting of The naan breads a couple of times now but currys being cold is now on a new level. Will never order from there again. Take note that if you order a mcdonalds they can still deliver your food hot ! Will take my custom to chandini and star Of india much better cuisines

the worst food i've ever had ... the only thing i could say it was nice was the popadoms and the dips for it.. nothing else .... order a steak for the kids was a very thin dry shoe sole... kids didnt even touch it... mixed meats over cooked on top on burnt onion, none of the food we order had a nice flavour apart from being very overcooked and bland... nope ... wont go back there ever again .. and paid 196£ for it 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ what a rip off

Disaster!!!!! Worst Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. Apparently it’s Bangladeshi not Indian. Expected better food and service but totally disappointed .!

We usually always order from Raj Lodge, but when we called this time we were put through to Garden of India and was told that it was the same menu, same chef, they are just operating from there during lockdown. Absolutely not true, the curry I ordered was not the same quality, definitely a different chef, the produce was pretty poor actually. On top of this... I made an order for a lamb Korma with a bit of heat, and they sent me a tomato based chicken curry that was hotter than the sun, I couldn't eat it, so I called and told them my order was wrong. They questioned me when I explained I ordered a lamb curry too, not a chicken one and said "I took the order so I remember you ordered a chicken one" even though I didn't, I ordered a tandoori chicken too, he was obviously confused, even after admitting that they sent the wrong order. So he said they'd send the whole order again. The lamb was tough as old boots, unlike raj which is usually melt in your mouth delicious. Then... to top it off when the delivery driver arrived, he told me he wanted to collect the old order... by this point I stuck the tandoori chicken and onion bhajis in the fridge and rest in the bin, except for 2 bhajis we ate while we waited... so i went and got my food bin and offered to give him the bag, and got the tandoori out the fridge etc, he actually made me wrap it up in foil and a bag for him to take back with him... absolutely ridiculous, just accept your mistakes and the loss that comes with it I thought, besides, what you gonna do? Send it on to someone else during these Corona virus times? I thought it was such a cheek that he asked for it back that I don't think I'll bother using Raj Lodge again as it isn't guaranteed that I will get the correct order or food that is usually good quality. Disappointed I was. Very disappointed.

Ordered a delivery told it would be an hour. Arrived after a hour and a half with missing nam bread when we called we were told we could have it next time ....great unfortunately there will not be a next time as not only was the food late and missing the bread it wasnt cold but Luke warm would be more accurate.We were starving so ate it anyway it's a shame as the dishes tasted nice and would have been great hot.My opinion ....dont bother.

Just called to order a takeaway. The guy who answered the phone was laughing loudly, obviously with a crowd at the bar and paying no attention to the customer (my partner) who was trying to bring custom to the restaurant. Eventually he asked for our phone number, while still conversing loudly with whoever was at the bar and paid little attention which resulted in him taking the wrong phone number. My partner disconnected the call because he thought maybe a faulty phone line and when he rang again the guy answered and recalled the wrong number again. He was clearly more interested in having a laugh and joke with his guests/friends which resulted in the restaurant losing our order for six adults.We have eaten in the restaurant a few times and have always had a good experience, so found tonights episode very disappointing. I completely understand that it's important to have good rapport with your guests, but to the detriment of other customers is not acceptable. Genuinely disappointed.

Went for a meal on Saturday at 18:00. The restaurant was very clean, had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and staff were attentive but not obtrusive. The food was absolutely delicious. Onion bhaji s for starters, crispy and flavoursome. Vegetable bhuna, tarka dhal, alood gobi, vegetable dhansak and naan breads ordered and eaten. The food was delicious and so much of it!!! Reasonably priced including drinks alcohol, a great meal out. Will no doubt return next month.

Quality & taste of food always good, but takeaway portions tiny, none of the containers were even half full including the rice. Very disappointing considering you pay the same price to eat in the restaurant & get a far bigger portion

The mixed bad quality and small portions are what make this place avoidable. i no longer get from here due to being let down to many times now.

As a regular customer of this restaurant for over a decade and recipient of there delivery service I felt a long overdue review was required.Pre lockdown we visited the restaurant several times a month on a Friday with the family, we are always made to feel very welcome the children especially.The food is delicious, fresh and served with the upmost professionalism from Muna and his team.The delivery service is exceptional with polite drivers, piping hot food well packaged if they are exceptionally busy the waiting time is offered up at the time of ordering to manage expectation.Last Friday (31st July) I visited the Raj in person for a take away as I was in the area, by coincidence this was the 1st time the restaurant had been open since lockdown.I was welcomed inside with a smile and a cold Cobra by the team adhering to the social distancing rules, when I returned home the food was as expected / 1st class.See you soon, Thank you.

Used to be a good restaurant. Ordered online, came an hour late. Order wasn't complete and had a big lump of plastic in one dish. Threw it all away. We were looking forward to this meal all day. It ruined Valentine's Day. Thanks Raj Lodge.

Table booked for 8.30pm arrive at 8.15pm seated at 8.45pm had to ask for poppadoms, surviettes, menus service, drinks, badicakky everything and at 10.10pm no food and explained we had a cab booked and what was the chances of our food arriving in next 10 mins as we were ready to walk, told didn't need our custom and leave - purely because he knew he didn't have a clue when we would get our food - do not recommend - do not go - please don't waste your time or money on such an awful restaurant

Beautiful never had better authentic Bangladeshi cuisine, the server saddique was brilliant always attentive adding great atmosphere.

Went for a friends birthday. Booked table a week in advance but were crammed in to a table far too small for size of group. Waited over an hour for starters. Had to ask for drinks. Service was terrible. Food was Luke warm and one of our party didn’t even get hers. A total shambles. Would never go here again!

I have been a sporadic regular here over the years and returned tonight for a business trip. I always order the same dish when entering a new or freshly visited Indian so can compare restaurant quality. I order a vindaloo ( too hot for most tastes admittedly), Baji and rice / roti. The quality here is excellent and very good service. I complimented the chef and enquired his name (Misba) via the Walter(Namy).

Went to the Raj Lodge for sunday Buffet today, can't fault it! Delicious fresh hot food and plenty of it! Great ambience and service, the waiters were welcoming funny friendly and helpful. The restaurant was not too busy. We were given a warm welcome and the service from Namy our waiter was exceptional. The 2 main dishes with 2 side dishes were bursting with numerous flavours. I highly recommend this Indian restaurant.

The Raj Lounge was recommended as the best local Indian Restaurant by the hotel we were staying in and they weren’t wrong. Neither of us like really hot curries but often milder dishes are a bit bland. The food here was full of flavour and not too oily. The portion size was not overwhelming either. Very good value for money and great service. Would definitely recommend.

Started visiting Raj Lodge once a week for the past 4/5 months! Have tried a range of different dishes and have never been disappointed! Lots of flavour and variety! Staff are really friendly and the restaurant is really clean and welcoming. Cannot recommend enough!

We go here quite a bit you always get great service great food and it’s a lovely place to be .Tried the Sunday buffet it’s one of my favourites always wash it down with a nice pint of beer 🍺

I’ve always been able to rely on the Raj Lodge for really great food and service - both are important and one without the other make for an average experience.

This is the best Indian restaurant in the known universe! Great service and seriously great food. I am a dansak fan and the tandoori king prawn dansak is to die for!

I’ve eaten here for over 13 years, so I feel bad about not ever leaving a review. I went there on saturday after a few months hiatus and it was as good as ever. I’ve tried every Indian in the HARLOW and bishop Stortford area over the years but what sets the Raj apart is that it’s consistently great. You would think you get varied experiences over the years but this has never been the case. The flavour is second to none and always has been. The service and welcome is always great and you are certain to meet Mo, the manager, who i’ve seen grow up over the years from literally a boy to now the manager!

Excellent best Indian in Harlow

Forgot the main meal of our 5 item order. Meant we couldn’t eat our food until this was delivered and everything was cold. Delivery guy didn’t even seem apologetic when he eventually delivered the missing dish. Do not recommend.

I booked the upstairs function room for 55 family and friends to celebrate my wife's 40th Birthday.

We have eaten here on many occasions and each time we have received excellent service and fantastic food at very reasonable prices. The Sunday afternoon buffet is a particular favourite of ours as the food is served at your table rather than a help your self approach.

Waited over an hour for main course very small portions ,more like a starter very disappointed with service and not enough staff to cope ,won’t be going back💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

Not long ago moved to the area and thought we’d try. Went on a Friday evening with friends and the main course took over two hours to be served to our table.

Another one ticked off the list of great curry places in the uk. Mo was our host and he was very accommodating and asked him to surprise me with something. I told him what I liked and he knew straight away what to get me. Was with a friend from work , he ordered a Balti, and this was very tasty too! Mine was the Jakarta tikka Chicken, very rich and full of flavour ! Or JKT as they call it. Give this place a go if you are ever in Harlow. I will be back for sure
