From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere and incredibly attentive, friendly staff. The food was outstanding—bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. We enjoyed a delightful mix of classic favorites and chef’s special items. For anyone seeking a memorable dining experience and top-quality Indian cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Can't wait to taste more there again.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Indian restaurant, and I can confidently say it’s the best Indian restaurant in Harlow, Essex. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was nothing short of exceptional—authentic flavors, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. We tried a mix of classic dishes and chef's specials, and every bite was delicious. Tandoori chicken St Chicken Tikka Balti Naga chicken the spicy one still I'm remember and Special Fried Rice Peshwari Nan were standout favorites. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience with top-notch Indian cuisine, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

They're Known for indian authentic flavors and generous portions, popular dishes include King Prawn Puri, Lamb Dansak, Mushroom Rice, and Cheese Nan. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome and outstanding service. The staff were polite, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely phenomenal—rich in authentic flavors, cooked to perfection, and presented beautifully. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the chicken tikka masala and the lamb rogan josh, both of which were bursting with flavor. The naan was soft and fresh, and the pilau rice paired perfectly with every dish. If you're craving high-quality Indian cuisine in a relaxed, friendly setting, this is the place to go. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!

Highly Recommend the Bengal. A very welcoming restaurant with a warm atmosphere. The staff are extremely attentive and efficient, no matter how busy they are. The food is simply delicious. It's easily the best Indian Restaurant in Harlow, and likely the best I've ever had anywhere. This is a place and my family and I frequent quite often after discovering the quality of the food and service that are provided here, it has become quite addicting. This occasion though was special as it was my mother's Birthday and when the staff discovered this they provided her with a special Birthday additional dish as a surprise. Using their knowledge of her previous orders and remembering details of her likes and dislikes that they had previously discovered on prior visits they were able to tailor this dish to be something that she would like. Incredibly thoughtful, and showing their attention to detail. Their service is really impressive, and their food is certainly in another league of its own against other Restaurants in the area. My grandad, who is quite the Indian food connoisseur and frequents many different Indian restaurants outside of Harlow, also said that he would very much want to return and that he loved the food, whereas every other time he has visited us for an Indian meal in Harlow at other restaurants he has just said that he wished that we had gone out of Harlow to one of his favourites. That didn't happen here because it became a favourite of his on his first visit.

Absolutely brilliant it was amazing experience with my family. Excellent all round and great value. I ordered special Murug Masala, loved it. Strongly recommended. Consider best indian restaurant in Harlow. Will be back soon.

Absolutely brilliant food mains was amazing however had to return the starters as they was frozen inside xx

I thought I’d try them because they’re only a 5 minute walk away plus the reviews looked good. However for the money, I was disappointed to have received lukewarm food that all needed to be reheated in the microwave. Taste wise everything was good but some of the lamb was chewy and there wasn’t much meat in either of the dishes overall. We have a number of very good Indian takeaways in Harlow - we are lucky, so unfortunately I probably wouldn’t be inclined to give them a second shot. Sorry!

This was a very pleasant surprise in Old Harlow. Excellent all round and great value. I loved the Naga Lamb but it does have a kick! Strongly recommended. And a convenient free car park round the corner.

Poor service, poor communication and now heating up food in the microwave. Won’t order here again. Thanks for the response. First time visiting the Bengal Cottage, after receiving some recommendations. The whole experience was great, from the welcome, the staff, the food and the ambiance of the place. I ordered a Chicken Tikka Balti and my wife, a Chicken Tikka Dhansak. with Saag Bhaji and Mushroom Bhaji sides. The mains and sides were probably the best we have tasted in a long while, and we don't often say that. Needless to say there were two clean plates...well almost, as my wife took some home to enjoy the next day. Staff were friendly and efficient. We will most certainly be returning some time very soon !

usually really good ,unfortunately this time was awful. lamb was like lumps of leather in the biriani so pretty inedible. the egg in the chicken dish was rotten. I ordered early hoping it would be freshly cooked but instead it seemed like yesterday's leftovers. very unhappy🙁

Our fifth visit to the Bengal Cottage under its new team now, and we have found it to be consistently excellent in all respects. All staff are welcoming, polite and professional with an eye for detail and that happy knack of instantly noticing, if your glass is empty. This evening (New Year's Day) was a bit quiet but we were greeted like old friends and the food (Fish Bhuna & Lamb Korma) was piping hot and served with care.

Food quality was excellent collection was on time the only downside was a dish was missing I had to return to the restaurant to collect it

Pre ordered as it was Christmas Eve food arrived within in the time frame only downside was the food needed reheating as it was lukewarm but the quality was excellent great taste just needed to be warmer but will definitely order again 🙏

Went for an early evening dinner with friends, lovely people who run it , very friendly, really sorry to have to say but the chicken seems always low quality, always hard so not sure if it’s the best you can get. This makes a big difference, please improve.

Beautiful food, great service, reasonably priced, me, my husband and youngest daughter visited late on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised, we had a lovely meal and good drinks. We all left happy, we'd highly recommend.

We were seeing a friends band in Harlow and wanted to grab dinner, so we popped in here. Firstly, it’s brighter than the Stansted runway, so the atmosphere isn’t what you want in a restaurant. However, we just wanted a nice quick meal, so we sat down. I ordered Poppadoms, Special Fried Rice, Plain Naan, half Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Tikka Balti, Chicken Pathia, between 2. The poppadoms were borderline stale, no crunch. The chutneys with the poppadoms werrr heavily coloured. The rice was delicious. The Naan was ok. The half chicken was also ok. The balti was not as full of flavour as I am used to but the meat was tender. The chicken in the Pathia was extremely dry and overcooked, and the sauce was coconut based, and nothing like the pathias in most restaurants. When the waiter asked me how my food was, I was honest, particularly about the dry chicken. They took it away and then 5 minutes later, came back to the table to tell me that they had checked the chicken and that I was right, it was dry and said their usual chef was away and apologised. I eventually asked for the bill, and waited 10 minutes as 4 waiters hang around chatting. When the bill arrived, I was shocked to find the chicken dish still on it. Not only did I say it wasn’t great, but they had taken it away without saying anything, when half of it was still in the bowl. I paid the bill, and I couldn’t be bothered to get the item taken off as we were now in a bit of a rush. This is really not how to run a restaurant though. Very poor and no way I would ever go back.

The starter was almost cold, the mild Balti was the spiciest / hottest I've ever had, which I didn't manage to finish. Clearly I've been sold hot as mild, because I've ordered the same dish from them before and it was not like this.

We've been to the restaurant a couple of times and every time the food has been impeccable! The quality of the food on offer far exceeds other restaurants in the area and is our go to choice. The chicken balti is particularly nice. Cannot fault the staff and would highly recommend for a meal out!

Top service - friendly staff and absolutely AMAZING food! I enjoyed every single mouth full!! I tried their new 'Chotti' dish... OMG!!! You have to try this... so delicious!!! I never write reviews... but I was so happy with the wonderful service and high standard of the food that j just had to. Definitely will be going back.

Very tasty meals, very hot, delivery driver very pleasant.

Pretty disappointed. Only one poppadom . The lamb shashlik was well done although asked for it to be cooked soft. The dansak was more like eating a Korma, no heat to it at all. Was looking forward to a nice curry but more went in the bin that got eaten.

First time in this restaurant, pleasantly surprised, good food and service in nice surroundings.

The restaurant was clean and staff polite . Food was nice but found a couple of dishes such as cauliflower bhaji not so good . The most disappointing thing about the restaurant was the space every time someone walk behind you they kept knocking your chair and I found that quite annoying when I’m trying to eat.
