Railway Kitchen in East Devon

Whilst staying in Axminster, we wanted to explore the area and try lots of different cafes and restaurants. The Railway Kitchen kept coming up as an option on Google. It felt strange parking in the train station car park but the kitchen is well signed posted so we knew where to go. There was a great big selection of typical British breakfasts to choose from. Three cooked breakfast later, we were full and happy. There were lots of different conversations happening between clearly regular customers and the kitchen so it's lovely to tap into a nice community venue.

25 or so folk who are more interested in talking to each other than ordering their food is a challenge! But Emma and Linda rose to it. We had a brilliant birthday evening and I thoroughly recommend this venue for private events.

We booked a table for a family birthday meal and wow, were we glad we did. We had 22 guests and the cafe was entirely ours for the evening. Emma and Linda looked after us so well and were quick and efficient in taking orders, cooking the food and delivering to our guests. The menu choice was so varied and all preferences were taken care of. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had table cloths, party hats, balloons, banners and music. It was the perfect night and every single guest enjoyed their meals and had the best time. Already planning our next birthday gathering! Thank you to all the team for such a memorable evening. We will be back. Absolutely first class.

Four of us visited this fine cafe and enjoyed excellent breakfasts. Great quality, locally-sourced food and tasty coffees served by friendly, efficient people. Recommend a visit.

Delicious lunch with quality local produce - a much more extensive menu than we expected. Friendly and efficient service. Proper cafe vibe, and when we visited buzzing with children excited to be seeing Santa afterwards!

Delays to the trains caused by bad weather caused me a wait of an hour so I took shelter in here for some lunch. Had Lyme Regis sausages with sweet potato fries (instead of chips), peas and curry sauce which I found to be a delicious combination; I then followed that with a slice of cake which was also tasty. The staff were friendly too. I recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.

Friendly cafe with a decent menu and good food. Very conveniently located on the station platform. Popped in while waiting for a train and had a coffee (very. Good) and a takeaway sandwich (equally good). Great service and tasty food

This is my first visit to The Railway Kitchen At Axminster train station and it was so good I had a very tasty Breakfast and a Frappe will definitely come again

I did have to complain as I had a hair in my sandwich and the establishment were very apologetic. However...on top of that, the bread for the sandwiches was pretty stale. As we'd got takeout and were already some distance away, we couldn't do much about it. A disappointing waste of money.

After reading the very good/excellent reviews, we rolled up for a breakfast on our way back home. Very decent full English breakfast with very tasty local sausages. Drinks fine too. Friendly service and a nice ambience. Recommended if you are in the area.

We had a range off the menu. All the meals were really nice, generous portions and the staff really friendly. Will definitely go again

Me and 8 friends (ladies of a certain age minus 1) had a lovely meal. Spicy cauliflower bites and herbie potatoes. Very good service and friendly staff. Great menu choice.

Great cafe situated on the station concourse. Great choice of menu, really friendly staff and great coffee. Well worth a visit!

Excellent food, cosy surroundings, friendly and attentive staff, great value for money. It's clear that the team really care about their customers and the local community as well as offering great food at a good price. A really gem.
