Raies Restaurant/Takeaway in Leeds

So very sad to see that Raies has closed after so many years. Thank you Max and all that's worked with him over the 40 years of business. I have lots of great memories over the years. I 1st started going in 1983 and will miss you now you have closed. I have one 'Max's favourite' left in the freezer that I will enjoy. Including having to call in on a Monday to apologies after falling out over delivery times on Saturday nights. The curries you have served have always been so enjoyable. Best wishes in you're retirement Max.

Absolutely love this place . Food is always on point . I have used Raies for at least 25 years and the other half goes back even further. Take my advise and get the Karahi Gosth , Its thee best or the Keema Masala Apna style

Well after searching for a decent curry throughout leeds! I accidentally stumbled across Raies in Harehills…I ordered the Daal Masala! Now I’ve had many curries over the years but this easily beats them all hands down! Amazing curry and freshly made chapatis! Highly recommended!!!

Although this place is very small simple but the food is to die for. Hands down best indian food in Leeds.

After having my just eat account hacked, the person placed an order to this restaurant. I noticed immediately due to an email confirmation I received and called the restaurant to cancel the order straight away. I called the restaurant to try to explain the situation to the person on the phone who was very rude and ended up hanging up. I could not get a refund from just eat as it showed the restaurant had already prepared the order (after speaking to them on the phone this was incorrect, they had not yet started). The restaurant has now taken payment for an order that was cancelled. Although my account being hacked and them receiving the order is not their fault, the rudness and lack of understanding was frankly a joke. Especially the fact they have now taken £43 out of my account for an order that I cancelled with them immediately. The issue has been reported to both action fraud and my bank who can hopefully get a return of the funds.

Max and his staff deliver a first class quality dish. Been coming here for over 30 years and whilst the decor changes, the food doesn’t as their standard is maintained.

The food was amazing, delivery driver(Ash) has great customer service I will definitely be ordering again, he is a fast and efficient driver.

I ordered online and fully paid. I phoned after an hour and they said they hadn’t started making it as there was a digit wrong in my phone number. I said the order was paid for online and they had my email address. The manager was very rude to me, told me I had wasted his time and hung up on me. Even though it was late they made no effort to speed up my order and it took over another hour to arrive. The poppadoms were stale. The rest of the food was ok and a couple of the dishes were very nice.

Since im in uk this is the best place. 200 percent very delicious food. Very friendly staff Eat it and get addicted to food served here. Cheers

Worst Indian curry ever there was no meat just curry sauce and tomatoes this place is here to rob you they talk rubbish to you just to get your money. AVOID THIS PLACE its full of RATS

The food here is absolutely lovely, can’t fault one part. The lamb was so tender is was falling apart! All the curry’s we had were delicious. Fantastic service too and really quick, second to none! Don’t hesitate to buy from here, I know I definitely won’t, I’ll be back shortly! Myself and my family LOVED it!

We ordered a mixture of dishes from chicken to lamb and also starters too and all of which were absolutely delicious, the service we received was great and this is such a lovely well run business. Would highly recommended you going here, this will become your go to when you want to treat yourself!

I ordered food for delivery today. First of all the delivery took about 35 minutes which is really good and quick. The food from raies restaurant is always nice. We ordered chicken tikka masala apna style and karahi gosht. it was delicious the meat was tender and full of flavour. Always get poppadoms on the house too. Tandoori rotis are really big and soft too which is a big thing as you can’t enjoy the curry of the rotis are hard. I Really recommend. If you’re looking to get an Indian give these a try you won’t be disappointed! The owner is so friendly too. Can’t wait to order again!

I can't comment on the restaurant itself as I've never been but my husband and I have had takeaway twice now and both times it's been amazing! One of the best curries, if not the best we've ever had and staff are really friendly too (delivery driver and spoke to someone over the phone). So happy we found this place I highly recommend :)

Personal cálido / acogedor encantador, comida muy sabrosa como debería ser la comida india, no solo un poco caliente llena de especias y un sabor encantador.Creo que los propietarios actuales son la cuarta o incluso la quinta generación que dirige este restaurante y no es de extrañar que hayan estado aquí tanto tiempo.Le deseamos un éxito continuo y esperamos volver a visitarlo en unos días.

2. 5 de 5 en nuestra opinión.Fuimos y nos recibió un agradable personal. Pedimos el balti de cordero, que me pareció muy normalito, pero a mi esposa no le gustó nada. El pan Naan era bueno y grande, lo cual era genial, pero salió frío, lo cual fue extraño, sugirió que no estaba fresco. Conseguimos el entrante especial (creo que se llama así) el tikka de pollo era decente, no seco y de buen sabor, pero me sorprende que solo teníamos 2 piezas. Las chuletas de cordero fueron muy decepcionantes, nada sabrosas y muy duras. No lo recomendaría. Honestamente, mi esposa odiaba el lugar y pensé que estaba por debajo del promedio, pero no me importaría intentarlo de nuevo para ver si debo dar otra reseña que sea más positiva.

Esta es mi segunda conclusión durante la pandemia y no tengo más que un gran elogio para esta empresa. La comida ha sido perfecta. Entrega genial, conductor muy agradable. En ambas ocasiones hemos tenido un pequeño obsequio con nuestro pedido. Lo recomiendo mucho. Nuestra comida favorita es cordero bhuna, pollo biriyani y los bhajis de cebolla son para morirse.

Went there with friends the whole area outside dirty with rats and rubbish but the prices same as city centre. The food was nothing special wish I had went to a better place you learn by your mistakes...never again...

Cuando comenzó la pandemia, Raies cerró durante algunas semanas.La semana pasada me di cuenta de que se había vuelto a abrir solo para comida para llevar y entregas.Pedimos una entrega el viernes 22 de mayo utilizando Just Eat. La entrega fue puntual y la comida fue excelente.Todo estaba bien preparado y servido caliente.No puedo esperar a nuestra próxima entrega. O mejor aún cuando podamos volver a salir a un restaurante.Bien hecho Max y equipo.

I've been meaning to leave a review for these guys for a while. Now that we're on lockdown I've finally gotten around to it. We order from Raies most weeks and not once have they let us down. The food is always perfect, on time, and their service is second to none. We've never once had an issue with an order of theirs.

We have been eating here for years. Food is always great as is the service !!. Have tried many other Indians but this is by far the best !

I accidentally ordered my food to the wrong address and the delivery man brought it straight round to my house, great service

Food Quality was very poor. The popodoms smelt very off, like they’d be stored for ages near chemicals. & the tastes horrible. The korma was bland and not creamy at all, no taste to it. Very disappointed. Food was delivered cold just to top it off.

Not been here for years, since moving away from Leeds, however it was a welcome surprise to find Max, his lovely wife and the team serving food as I remember it, excellent, traditional dishes and my favourite, Karahi Ghost. Top restaurant!

Truly exceptional. The service was amazing from start to finish, our waiter and the food servers being very attentive throughout. The meat was mouth watering, and each dish cooked, was made to perfection.

Pedí un Madras de tarifas hace dos semanas. Era asqueroso no tener mucha carne. Añadieron dos libras adicionales a la factura, solo se suponía que eran quince libras. Agregaron cargos ocultos. No volveré a pedirlos.

Soy de Londres y eran las 12:30 de la noche. Mi familia y yo fuimos a Raies. El personal era extremadamente acogedor y nos había acomodado de manera muy amigable. La comida era deliciosa, el pollo al curry y naan no se puede perder, es un curry muy sabroso. ¡Me encantó!

Second time I've been to this restaurant, I made a special visit from Cheshire to come here. It's one of the best places I have eaten and the service from all the staff is very warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend it.😁

Ordered a chicken naan kebab, instead recieved a donner. Please take the time to read orders properly as it was very disappointing. Order also took a while despite living under a mile away from the place..

In my opinion anyone offering a 'vegetarian set meal for one' and calling themselves an Indian restaurant really ought to deliver something simple and delicious - that's what i call special. This meal was just that; perfect soft stretchy chapatis, nicely done, generous 7 tasty bhajis with a properly spiced veg masala which was obviously fresh and made with love. I enjoyed that meal - next time the real test, - will the Tarka dal make me smile? I hope so.

Max is pretty legendary and this restaurant certainly produces flavoursome curries, with real taste, each dish distinctive. If you buy an expensive hi fi, the difference will be that all the highs and lows of the music and the various notes will be separate and distinct which is what the cooking at Raies is all about.

We've been eating here since 1976 the food is just amazing full of flavour, our little Indian gem reasonably priced and the restaurant is spotlessly clean, we ate there last night and received the warmest welcome from Max and his lovely wife congratulations to them on their 40th anniversary of business which is pretty amazing!

I visited raies for the first time in July and have been back for many visits since, and will carry on for the future. The food is great, service is very personable and the prices are very reasonable for the great quality of food served. Would definitely recommend raies!

My partner & I visited early this evening. The food was excellent. My partners lamb was very tender & tasty. I had a chicken dish which was excellent. It's a very clean restaurant with good back ground music and a great ambiance. Max, his wife & the waitress were so welcoming & friendly. I look forward to our next dinner here & highly recommend a visit.

I have visited this restaurant for over 25 years taking my children when they were small on a weekly basis. My son now grown up visits with his friends weekly. As always the food is the best Curry I have ever had and trust me I've eaten in hundreds of Curry houses and nowhere beats Raies!. The service is friendly, efficient and timely. The lamb was tender and delicious, chicken and prawns melted in the mouth. I could eat here every day. It's the best! Give it a try

Raies is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Leeds. I have been going for years and they have never dissapointed, ever! Max and his wife are really lovely people and always make our experience at the restaurant extra special. They are very well established and are now in their third generation of ownership, so believe me they know what they are doing!! Authentic Indian cuisine at its finest...

First time I have been here. Excellent food and very friendly service. Family run business and I would highly recommend this place. Also had a delivery the next day and food is consistent wether you eat in or get a takeaway.

The service here was really good we didn't have to wait very long after our order,the food was piping hot and very tastie, Indian music was playing softly in the back ground,All staff were helpful and friendly, the manager is quite funny. Loved the Mango Lassi made by Zahida.

food was over 2 hours late. when called to chase. the restaurant numerously cuts the call off and when you do get through he rushed me off the phone and put it down anyway. will not be ordering from here ever again.

Food cold on arrival well the curry was,it had ten tiny pieces of meat it in rest was all sauce.I asked for it medium to hot it was more like eating a Bolognese than a curry.

Normally I wouldn't write reviews... but I am so happy with the food. Amazing vegetarian curries , delivered early and was hot !!! Will be regularly ordering from now on ... pity I did not find this place earlier on !

Food arrived on time by a lovely polite delivery driver. The food itself was perfect! Salad was so fresh and crisp, plenty of mayonnaise and the donner meat was the best we have had. Will definitely be a returning customer!

Makhani not very nice and tasted burnt, and was a small portion for a main dish. Paneer dish was nice but there wasn't much Paneer in it. Chicken Karahi nice but not much chicken in it. Garlic Naan was good.

Absolutely brilliant food, Max, the people who recommended you were absolutely right, there was not a morsel left and we had a lot of food, that's how much everyone enjoyed the food. Also appreciate you sending the bottles of coke over even though it was so late. Definitely look forward to eating with you again on my next trip to Leeds. Really good food. We didn't expect there to be chilli sauce on the kebabs as standard (the menu item just says 'sauce'). The sauce was too hot for my partner to eat, and no salad was sent with the orders. I called up the restaurant and they were extremely helpful, they cooked another for my partner as requested and delivered it in good time along with a kind note and some sweets for the trouble. Cannot complain at the service, food quality or the delivery time.
