Mommy Thai in Leeds

We had the lunch deal. My husbands food arrived well before mine. Starters come at same time as main course which is odd, all in one tray so you rush the starter or main will be cold. My starter chicken satay was very small and dry. It was cheap though! I’d rather pay more for better food served when it should be. Definitely more of a cafe than a restaurant. Maybe food is better from the a la carte menu?

I booked a table for a special evening for me and a friend and specifically phoned a second time to confirm the booking and request a table in the upstairs area. When we arrived bang on time we were made to wait whilst others who hadn’t booked were seated before us. We were eventually seated at a wobbly and cramped table downstairs, where the waiting staff deliberately avoided catching our eye multiple times when trying to order. Numerous customers who had not booked AND had been seated later than us were served before us. We’d been seated for fifteen minutes and despite asking to order were denied to order and were not apologised to for the delay. They were busy, but clearly have NO PROCESS. We walked out. Very shoddy and unacceptable customer service.

4 but could have been a 3. Didn't see a smile from a single member of staff. The guy left a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service but it was busy so I suppose can let that one slide a little. I was seated in a way I could see nearly every dish being created was being put in the microwave. So yeah, it's either fried or microwaved. For the price, that's quite poor. Overall food came quick as I expect it would being microwaved and was nice. I think 4 is a little generous but it's not bad and worth a try.

I ordered a lunch set with Tom yum noodle soup and ribs. The ribs were so delicious. And the noodle was absolutely amazing, it was fairly spicy and there are a fair amount of toppings. Moreover, the staff members were nice and the price was reasonable. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

The food and drinks were amazing! The menu had a really good variety to choose from, with a range of meats as well as vegetarian and vegan options. The lunchtime offer allows you to choose a starter, along with your protein and the type of dish it is served with (I think there were over 30 to choose from) for the main course. The portion sizes were large and flavourful, and the service was prompt. I had the tofu skewers with a tofu main. There is a 10% discount if you pay in cash. Overall, the food did not disappoint and we will definitely be returning!

Lovely food. You do have to wait a while to order. Then wait a while to pay. Our order was slightly messed up but the fact the food was good made up for it.

Lovely can’t go wrong! I had the Tom kha and rice and an ice coffee perfect lunch! The chicken is also halal!!

The food was BOMB it was amazing value for money. Staff are lovely and I have absolutely 0 complaints. We will be returning I’m sure!

Charged 8 pounds for jasmine tea. We had perhaps 3 small cups each and served in a coffee jug. Food was ok. I would not go again.

Lovely authentic food from Thailand

Bad things about it first all serving plates needs to change most of them are enamel and were chipped and the downstairs toilet needs to be further from the dinning tables, wonderful food

Fui aquí para el almuerzo del sábado por recomendación de hijo. Qué puedo decir. La comida era fabulosa, el servicio muy rápido, ¿qué más se puede pedir. Si quieres una buena cena de lujo con todas las campanas y silbatos tal vez este no es el lugar para ti. Si quieres comida tailandesa sabrosa a un precio razonable comiendo en un restaurante auténtico sin lujos esto es bang en. Sin duda volveré y recomendaría.

Really not great. Came on good recommendation so we were disappointed. The service was good and the waiter was nice but the food was mediocre at best. Sweet but flavourless, mushy and slimy: we left dissatisfied. There's got to be better thai food in leeds!

Best Thom Kha soup I've ever had, beef noodle soup was legit.

Estaba allí con la familia, no es mi elección para ir y definitivamente no volveré a ir. Todo parecía manchado y sucio, espacio muy estrecho y el asiento a mi lado seguía empujando su codo en mi espacio, no su culpa, se sentía como sentado en la aerolínea de feria baja, la presentación de la comida parecía basura en un plato de basura con comida que parecía como un niño estaba cocinando en la cocina. Mi hija no recibió su pedido y tomó años llamar la atención del camarero para corregirlo. Me dieron el postre primero antes que nada y los platos llegaron en orden caótico para todos y las porciones eran diminutas (afortunadamente ya que no me pareció apetitoso). No me molestaría en escribir esto pero tuve problemas estomacales después de esto que rara vez hago, que duraron varios días. Y no me sorprendió mucho, los pasteles de pescado sabían muy... no tengo ni una palabra al respecto (rango, tal vez). No vale la pena el precio que pagamos.

My sister and I dined here on a busy Saturday lunchtime and it was good! Yes it’s basic and a bit shabby so not for everyone but the meal was nice enough. It only serves beer and soft drinks so it’s not the place you’d go to enjoy a nice bottle of wine. It’s quick authentic food and the lunchtime deal at 9.95 or 10.95 is excellent value. The starters are small and are served on the same plate as the main. I had the spring rolls to start and chicken Pad Num Prik Pao. The chicken was really good, spicy but not too over the top and plenty of it. My sister had the Kow Soi, she asked for beef but got chicken and the Thai fish cakes to start. We both had a mango juice and the bill was under £30. Probably the cheapest lunch in Leeds we have ever had and maybe the fastest. The restaurant was busy with people waiting for tables in the doorway as we left so they must be doing something right!

What did I just experience, table and chairs were from the garden. Food was warm and not much of it. The first course came at different times and looked like kids first cooking lesson. Fish cakes tasted like NOT SURE cardboard maybe. Main course was slopped on a plate and worse than that WARM BEER. £70 I won’t get back.

Brilliant frankly, all that a city centre restaurant should be. Metal plates, fast service, great food and no airs or graces. If you wish to be pandered to buy obsequious staff this isn't the place for you. If you want a delicious Thai meal, and efficient service, it very likely is. Highly recommend.

Decided to try this place as it seems popular. Table for 2 was requested for me and my elderly mother. We sat downstairs and then told to move to the window area. There is very little room between seats and tables and not suitable for people with mobility problems or large body types. No sooner as we were seated for the second time and managed to look at the menu for less than three minutes, he wanted us to order. I ordered the "famous" no68 floating market noodle soup with beef/pork with meatballs. I ordered the pork version. There was one white rubber ball made of what maybe tofu at a guess, a knuckle bone and rubber pork with lots of fat and gristle and hard beansprouts that I first thought was bone. Also, a can of 7 up for 2.50. The flavour of the dish was bland. Seemed in a rush to get as many people in and out as fast as possible. Very dissatisfied, to say the least. £15 wasted. Will definitely not be going again.

I love love love the taste of the food at mommy Thai and have been multiple times. However last time I went there was a massive piece of plastic in my sticky rice which cost me extra. He offered to remake the meal however the rest of my party had already nearly finished. I also felt at the end they were rushing us out to fit a bigger party in and I was not refunded for the price of the rice I couldn't even eat. The piece of plastic was big enough to have choked me and was hidden in the rice which is so dangerous thank God I'm overly cautious. Although the food tastes amazing it puts me off returning.

I would give an absolute zero if it was possible. We were visiting Leeds for the night and fancied Thai food. Once we entered the place did not clean or tidy but we put it off to them just receiving a delivery of drinks. Once sat down we ordered our food which came quiet quickly and the dishes were quiet large. The food tasted a bit funky but we put it off to them using different herbs to the place we normally eat at. How wrong were we. Our whole party 3 adults and an infant have come down with severe food poisoning. We all suffered from diarrhoea and sickness as well as a fever. It had destroyed the whole two days we had planned and instead we spent the night being sick and having to go home the next morning as we weren’t able to do much else. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely disgusting

Awful place, slow service. They have 2 indian workers who absolutely knows nothing. When I asked to order, he asked me to wait a moment while he does absolutely nothing at all.

Terrible servicio, camarero indio fue grosero y alzó la voz mientras nos enfrentamos a él por el pedido de fideos equivocado colocado. Pedido phadthai y se supone que es fideo de arroz plano, el fideo servido fue usando vermicelli de arroz fino. El camarero no admitió que estaba equivocado y alzó la voz. Somos entusiastas de la comida tailandesa y nunca habíamos visto phadthai frito con vermicelli de arroz fino. Solicitó un cambio y discutió por un tiempo, finalmente accedió a cambiar. Yo diría que es una mala experiencia y bastante controversial también, tuvimos diferentes tratamientos de otro camarero que obviamente es tailandés. ¡Es tan educado y atento! Además el servicio fue decepcionante, la comida tampoco está a la altura de las expectativas también. Todo es demasiado dulce y caro.

Excellent lunchtime deal, and great food

Incredible food. The hot pork belly dish is sensational. Add the fried egg. It works. Definitely only for those who like spicy. 😋 The club next door's music making the whole place vibrate just adds to the Bangkok feel of the place.

Was very spectacle before entering here, Just wanted to try some Thai food. We were quite confused what we should have, and requested the waiter to help us. She was very calm, she explained each n every thing, she gave us her favourites to choose from. Overall worth the money! Will visit again soon 😁

Get your toilets clean and up to date. It's what represents the hygiene of the place. There is nothing worse eating somewhere, and the toilets are disgusting.

I visited your restaurant today and unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience. I would like to address a few concerns: 1. I had ordered an extra sweet chili sauce for which I was charged £1, but it was never provided with my meal. 2. Additionally, I paid for double portions but only received a single portion, which was very disappointing. I wanted to bring this to your attention in the hope that these issues can be resolved. I always try to support local businesses

Was so excited to try because I’ve heard good things. We were sat for about 20 minutes and were completely ignored. Asked if we could order and was told to sit down. Ignored for a further 10 minutes so we left. Wanted some nice Thai food but with how rude they were we will have to find somewhere else

Waiter was nice enough but after we tasted our cocktails and asked if we accident ordered mocktails, he realised he’d ’forgotten’ to add the spirit. 🤔 The food was spicy but also bland. Not sure how they managed that…. And not forgetting having our main brought to us whilst we were still eating the starter. Would not recommend.

Great food, with good portion sizes. Always go for the lunch time deal with friends as a good place to eat and catch up.

It's hard to recommend. On the one hand the Thai food here is decent, but nothing special yet still above average for the UK. But they can't deal with any requests - even simple ones. No ice in the Thai tea? no. Extra spice? Yes, but we're not going to bother to cut up the chillis properly for you. It's bewilderingly inconsistent: some dishes are excellent (the Tom Yum soup) others far from it (The Khao Soi felt like it made with yellow curry paste, instead of its own). How you feel about this restaurant will largely depend on what kind of experience you have in that moment

if you are looking for a friendly place with a great menu and lovely staff, this is the place for you. Superb service and fabulous, authentic fresh tasty food. Absolute bargain as well. Could n't fault it. We will be back soon. Chris, Susie and Abbie.

Had lunch set menu which is quite worth it. Has quite a variety of options as well. Thai milk tea although a little sweet taste great. Would recommend to come for the lunch deal otherwise nothing special but good Thai shop.

Had vegetable and tofu pad see ew with Tom yum soup, thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. flavour was on point, the Tom yum soup had a generous help of galangal and lemongrass, and noodles were beautifully wok-kissed (full of wok hei). They don’t skim on spice and chili so if you can’t handle spicy food remember to order mild spicy level. My friend ordered Tom kha soup and I had a spoonful of that, it’s a coconut milk based soup that’s creamy, not as spicy but still tangy and savoury. Would recommend Tom kha as well! So sad I don’t live in Leeds/York, but will defo visit again when I’m in Leeds. It’s a busy restaurant but staff members were friendly and service was prompt.

Early Saturday evening visit , quite busy but got a table quite quickly . Very messy on the floor . Took along time to get our order taken . Thai prawn crackers for 3 and 1 tiny dip , had to ask for another which came 10 minutes later . I had the pork belly and rice which was absolutely delicious . 2 yellow curries and 3 large bottles of Chang were also served . A big let down was the toilets . In a terrible state . I recommend a visit to Mommy Thais .

Totally random visit and so pleased I went. Got table outside in street. Bottle of Chang and a Massaman Curry layer I'm a happy bunny. Absolutely fantastic curry. Its all very informal and I love it. Well gone guys.

I have tried all the Thai food in Leeds, and this one is just like that, both in terms of product and service.

The floating market noodle soup was really good. I had it with beef but would love to come back and try it with pork.

Enjoyed a delicious massaman curry with beef on a mild and rainy day. Fast service and great portions! Definitely worth the hype and great value for the lunch special.

Food great here. They really get the flavours on point. However, portion sizes are really bad and seem to be getting smaller and smaller. There’s plenty of other spots in Leeds that do great Thai food with much better value for money.

We ordered the lunch deal and the truth is we left satisfied. The pad thai was delicious and the tom kha soup was very tasty. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Nice Thai foods with reasonable prices

This is a real find of you are into no frills, authentic Thai food. The flavours are great. My teenage sons love it. They off a full range of dishes with a choice of meet and some dishes buse unusual cuts of meet but that hasn't put my two from trying a number of them from the main menu. Black pudding and pigs stomach to name a few. I strongly advise you give it a try. Another plus is the service is quick you can in and out in 30 mins if you want a quick lunch. No need to book That said there are a few points to note. 1. The toilet facilities are poor. No water, no hand drier, only 1 ... Needs to improve. 2. The room and decor is basic, it's more street food and canteen environment so don't get dressed up! 3. Lunch menus good value at 10.95 for start and main ( bright together) from a limited menu. Designed to fill you up. 4. 10%off bill if you pay cash... If you want more upmarket try Zapp.

Went for lunch very poor food. Not tasty at all. Cutlery and glass were dirty. Hygiene is non existent. So cramped. Next time they may put a table in the toilet too

Worst place for Thai food. No flavour. Not true Thai food. Best thing about it..the bottled beer. Starters were tasty. Main meals….awful

I’m disabled and have a seizure alert dog. We went here to have lunch and I was refused access to a table in the restaurant. I explained the law, and that they would be breaking it if they refuse access. They honestly didn’t care. Of all the years I’ve had my assistance dog I have never been refused service because of her. I have reported this And hope the authorities take action. If you have a disability, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place like the plague

Had lunch here yesterday The food was good and the lunch menu at £11 was a deal to add to the the prices were not excessive either This is a cafe type place and may not lend itself to a romantic evening meal but as lunch it was great Recommend!

We always eat here when visiting our Son at University. Fantastic choice, great value, friendly staff and some cool Thai movie posters. What's not to like?!

Modestly priced and a nice atmosphere - the only good things that can be said about this place. Ordered a beef dish, and what I was given contained one singular piece of chicken with the toughest, most flavourless vegetables I have ever had the displeasure of eating. Water was served somehow above room temperature in a decanter with no lid. Server skipped me when taking orders, and had to be reminded that I was also part of the group, and assumed that the curry that was being served was mine, presumably because of the colour of my skin. I would strongly advise another Thai restaurant if you are after friendly service and authentic food.

Me and my friend came to Mommy Thai for lunch. We had a male server who was nice however, didn’t know much about the service of the business. My friend asked for a drink recommendation and the server recommended the Thai ice tea. When the drinks arrived she took a sip and didn’t like it and asked a female server if she could exchange the drink for another one as it had barely been touched and the female server agreed. The bill came and we realised we had been charged for the £3 ice tea. We asked for them to remove it as the drink was barely touched and the female server said we were able to change the drink. As the male server didn’t handle the drink enquiry he went to get the female server who immediately started shouting at my friend, mocking and gaslighting her and denying ever agreeing to exchange a drink. This left me and my friend humiliated as she continued to shout at my friend and deny ever letting her exchange the drink and smirking in her face and speaking their language between one another in front of us as my friend defended herself. The manager then came and explained their no exchange policy which was never stated when we entered the place to begin with. If we were made aware of the policy it would have not been a problem however, we had only asked a question and it escalated to a humiliation fest. This female server has ruined mine and my friend’s experience completely as it was our first time dining there and we were left completely embarrassed in front of other customers dining. The female server was short, slim, had medium black straight hair. We were not able to get any names because they had no name tags and as we left the restaurant the female server then continued to mock my friend by saying thank you in a smug way. As a result this ruined our day as it left us feeling embarrassed, confused and humiliated. We never received an apology either.

Sooo good. Big portions, delicious food, quality ingredients, huge variety, nice staff - what's not to love?

This has to be my favourite restaurant and food combo in Leeds. The food is just amazing and full of flavour and the portions are plentiful. The staff are always attentive even when the restaurant is full!

I went on 14th of April I found this place when I was looking for good places to eat in Leeds on Reddit and this is the first restaurant I went to in Leeds and the staff are lovely and so kind and the food is so delicious and tasty. I don’t remember what my order was called, I remember it was like 45 on the menu, it was so tasty. And you get a lot of food, from not that much money, I recommend coming to this place if you want something that was delicious and a cozy and comfortable atmosphere as a solo traveller or with friends.

Well seasoned food but a little too hot in the room but man it was great food I had the 81 with rice meat was tender and seasoned to perfection

Tasty food. Tacky service. Thorough menu with lots of options - food came quickly and was tasty. What left a sour taste was the rude / unhappy staff. We had to ask 3 times for water, 3 times for glasses, multiple times for cutlery & 3 times for the bill. Smiles were severely lacking. The place has potential but I would not go back.. (also people waiting for the toilet in the already cramped conditions is a no-no for me)

What a fabulous place. We recently returned from a 5 week trip to Thailand & the food here is truly authentic. Great food with lovely people. We will definitely return
