We visited the garden centre for breakfast just after 9am on a misty, Saturday morning. Walking through the garden centre to get to the restaurant we were impressed with the fabulous Halloween & Christmas displays. Upon entering the restaurant we were met by four lovely, friendly ladies behind the counter who offered us a complimentary mini mince pie each (delicious!) Our order for three Farmer's Breakfasts was taken and as none of us like grilled tomato we were asked what we would like instead. The coffees were delivered promptly followed by the food; the sausages were particularly delicious. Fabulous food and great service, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return!

Don’t know what all the negative reviews are about! We visited on the way home from a half term holiday (with dog) We loved the food here. Accommodated our dog. Arrived very late for breakfast, about11, then ordered 3 veggie and 1 standard- an awkward order but definitely no rude staff, in fact the opposite. Very polite nothing too much trouble. Well cooked and expert service. An asset to the garden centre.

They advertise that they cater for vegans but there were no vegan sandwiches or light bites. Asked for a salad baguette and was served with a non vegan coleslaw! I asked the waitress if it was vegan and she said ‘I think so’! It wasn’t! Could have made me very ill. Poor service! Beware if you have allergies.

We go to the garden centre in which the cafe/restaurant is situated and decided to stop for something to eat. I ordered a beef and stuffing roll and my husband a coronation chicken roll. It states it comes with salad and crisps and for £9 i should think so too. When it came my husbands was presented nice but mine just had the roll whole on a plate with no salad or crisps, presented like it had just been thrown on the plate. I asked why i didnt have any salad or crisps to be told bluntly thats the way it is….tasteless beef in a dry baguette for £9…..rip off!!! The sauces ie horseradish, mint etc are in open bowls on the counter with no covering whatsoever on a warm day…not good… My husband had salad and crisps on his plate which consisted of a small amount of dry lettuce leaves and a few damp crisps again for £9. Wont be returning thats for sure…..

Dealing with the current regime in the Sugarloaf Café rather than the effect of the Wyevale takeover of this once excellent local business, I can say that the café does offer a reasonable deal for the prices charged. For most of the later part of 2015 and again this year they are doing vouchers for '2 meals at £6.00 each' etc.

Having been regulars for many years stayed away for a few weeks after bitter experiences under Wyevale, tried the Sunday lunch last week very dissappointed and desserts no longer home made, drinks up in price so total bill higher than local pubs and hotels with table service. What a shame the former Sugar loaf restaurant was five star. Manageress and staff all very low key as were other members of staff, one or two familiar faces around including Malcolm in the gardening area always very helpful. Come on Wyevale can't you do better before Christmas and gosh the children loved Santa and the entertainment, end of an era

I have been going to said garden centre for years with my mum and extended family. Our visits used to be pure joy , from the excellent choice of goods ,fabulous Xmas displays, and even better food, especially delicious chips. We would go home thoroughly pleased with the experience. But after our visit yesterday we will never go back. Displays all over the place, no order, no food hall open and by the look of the Xmas corner it will never appeal again. The staff in restaurant were efficient and friendly but long gone are delicious chips replaced by a less than average so called chip. We asked waitress why and the answer was Wye as in Wyevale. The stock is the same as everywhere else, boring, a man in a Wyevale logo tshirt was dragging stands around the floor, what a nightmare, we left, forever and for the first time empty handed. The staff weren't happy about changes either. The biggest shock was £3 for a chocolate eclair!!!!!!

I can really only echo the last few reviews that the sugar, loaf restaurant now renamed has become unbelievably poor in standards and customer service, I complained to the new manageress and she was totally dismissive having an awful Sunday lunch served on cold plates, only one face of the old regime and she was miserable, it used tobe a joy and the welcome was superb having been regulars for several years. The rest of the original garden centre staff seemed miserable. Will find somewhere else to eat and for plants, wil not be difficult as prices have risen and quality deteriated but sad after so many years of frequent happy visits, Wyevale if you have management in place at Raglan please try before it's too late

This was one place you could come and always have welcome face of happy staff who would make effort to go above & beyond for you we have been coming here for the last 15years.... We have not visited since April due to ill health so when we did come was devestated on the changes that have been made to the restaurant. We found out kelly who was front of house supervisor had left she was one of the original staff & one of the reasons we came always friendly & would help. The food standards was terrible no taste and we'll over priced & dessert choice un eat able. The beautiful deli bar in unrecognisable all the things that made this place special has gone all I can say is the new manager & supervisor needs to get act together it was untidy & didn't look clean or appetising . There was only 2 staff we recognised and they were unhappy you can tell .... All I can say is well done wyevale you have ruined yet another garden centre.

Usually visit for lunch on Sunday. A few weeks ago we had the first 'bad' meal ever at Raglan G.C. We assumed it was just a bad day - but last week was no better. Today we thought we would try one last time, but were even more disappointed. The restaurant was particularly disappointing. Cheese & Cranberry Baguette was skimpy cheese with a millimetre spread of pink jam! The salad choice was nowhere near as good as it used to be - in fact it was just some green leaves - no coleslaw [as previously] and no Waldorf available. We find it hard to understand why the standard has gone down so much. Very disappointed.

I'll tell you what's happened, Wyevale! When the garden centre was first sold to Wyevale things seem stay the same, but gradually all the character and charm of this once independent garden centre has gone. Prices of plants are up and standards are down. So many of the old staff have left and many of those who remain have lost their sparkle, due to the generic corporate culture Wyevale are imposing (not the fault of the wonderful staff, blame Wyevale). Many of the quirky home accessories that were found here have been replaced by poor quality bits of tac. The cafe was the crowning in their armour, serving amazing home made food. Not anymore, much of the food is now from packets! The quality of ingredients is down but the prices aren't, Wyevale your profiteering. Judging by all the recent reviews I'm not alone in my thoughts and note that Wyevale haven't replayed to any of the comments, so can only assume they know they have ruined this garden centre and don't care!

This is our local garden centre and recently been taken over by a national chain. Bad news is the best terminology I would start with. I know they are going through a rearrangement of products and it has yet to finish, however the signs are not good. The food is not as good and the choice has been reduced dramatically. The selection of items in the store has also reduced along with the unusual items we were previously happy to see. I know we have to give them more time but I am not hopeful.

Having visited the restaurant at Raglan Garden centre mainly for Sunday lunch we are bitterly dissappointed, the prices have increased and the quality of the food and service has rapidly gone down. The roast lunches were a joy but now the meat quality and veg are not of the same standard, no lovely homemade desserts, drinks up in price. Several other customers were complaining, staff moral low, many old faces gone, Lucy always very helpful she knows us. Tables not cleared as they used tobe, cheap and nasty paper napkins. Okay so you have to queue, so if you time your visit poorly, it can take a while to be served. We are regular lunchers here often bypassing the garden centre itself. The restaurant is rightly popular with all ages. The hot food can match many a commercial kitchen and you'll not be stuck for choice. We visited to look for some winter plants, and found the place to be amazing. It is way more than just a garden centre, with a huge range of incredible items - from great oak furniture, toys, clothes, games, books and much much more. Their Christmas range of decorations, lights etc, was way better than any we had seen elsewhere - a real Santa's extravagenza. Their plants are fresh and well looked after, well set out and reasonably priced. Their restaurant is lovely, with great views of the Sugarloaf mountain in the distance. It's big, light and bright and serves a huge selection of good food. The serving is seperated into two parts - one for salads, pies and coffees, and the main part with a mouthwatering choice of meals and cakes. Not surprisingly it is a very popular place on weekends, so you need to get there early to find a table and avoid the long queues! A great space to spend a few relaxing hours.
