Sing Lee in Monmouthshire

Outstanding food and service (and always has been). His smile gets me every time, what a nice guy, i have never seen him unhappy!! Food is always piping hot and cooked to perfection! 15 years we’ve been coming here, never had any issues. More recently discovered their Salt n Pepper Box! Family loves the veg curry (request without mushrooms) and it’s delicious. Nothing is too much trouble.

Used to be fabulous but shop front and waiting area are getting shabby and need attention. Food is still good though. Prices have increased and are now expensive. Treat only now instead of regular Friday night.

The bloke on the phone has got to be the most miserable person I’ve ever had to deal with. It’s also pointless ordering for collection in advance because they take just as long. It’s as if they don’t start cooking until you turn up.

We've been loyal customers of the Sing Lee in Abergavenny for 23 years, that loyalty has now ended. Ordered a takeaway for 2, we needed it delivered & was told the order had to be in excess of £25. We were at £23 with our order (quarter crispy duck, egg fried rice, beef in black bean) so added sesame toast to our tab - suddenly the price is at £31! 🤯 £8 for toast?! 😕 Unbelievable. Food was pretty tasteless, the duck was chewy and hard to cut, & no egg in the rice. The food also came with an unreadable receipt so we couldn't even get to the bottom of it 🙄 Never again.

Still cash only. Prawn crackers well over priced at nearly £4 a bag.

£4.20 pancake roll 4 inches long process food. King prawns what we're not king prawns @ 7.50 bitter taste from over used cooking oil.. Then told to pay cash only to rip hmrc off.. Do not deserve to be in business avoiding the place..

The Chinese food from the sing lee is always lovely but service can be a little slow at peak times like friday evenings.

Really disappointing. Missing orders, over charged and terrible customer service. Avoid. We ordered mid week, was unfortunate to not deliver but we went to collect. On coming home discovered one meal was missing. When we called, it turned out they’d given us the sauce but not the meal. No apology but wanted us to return the sauce and pay again for the missing meal (but not minus the cost of the sauce) but when we worked it out, they’d actually over charged us £10 when we added up the meal from the online menu anyway. I definitely wouldn’t bother with this place.

Decided to try Towngate for a change, so glad i did. Food was better, twice as much and cheaper! Plus the staff were very friendly and helpful, not like this place!

Boy on the counter could only managed to say two words in response from me asking 5 questions about the menu. Food was expensive, small portions and bland. Up your game Sing Lee.

I rang to ask if they could ensure the food was gluten free as my son is coeliac and was assures it would be. When I took the food home it was the wrong order (and contained gluten) I rang to complain and the person on the phone apologised and said they would replace it. My partner went to collect the replacement order and enquired about a refund, however at this point the staff claimed they didn’t speak English so did not know what gluten free meant. Absolute joke.

Sing lee has until tonight been our favourite Chinese takeaway for the past 30 years The food was collected at the booked time and was cold when we arrived home and had to be reheated. The portion sizes were shocking the cartons were not even full.Really disappointing and will be trying somewhere else.

Poor service by the customer prevention staff behind the counter. Food cold as the guy was too busy taking further orders and not serving customers in the shop. Waited 20 mins to get served for a phone order . Suggest cooking yourself as quicker and you get hot meal😡😡😡😡

Have used the sing Lee for 30 yrs good food.

Ordered a large takeaway meal, everything was really tasty and cooked really well! The chicken balls and chicken wings starter were both cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and just the right amount of batter. Best Chinese in town!

Great meal at a good price. Never had a bad meal from this place.

Went in this evening, asked for a tray meal- chicken balls, egg fried rice and sweet and sour sauce. I specifically said to the boy behind the counter that I didnt want chips with it because chips from a chinese is always horrible. He must of forgot to say so I've got home and my tray is practically all chips, with 3 chicken balls that are drier than gandis flip flop and all the sauce is on the chips and not on the rice. So overall I have dry rice, dry balls and minging chips I specifically didnt want. The only good thing this evening is my can of pop 🙄

Expensive for what you get curry sauce is in a small pot chippy style and they charge £2.30 massive joke got fried rice might aswell of ordered boiled rice wouldn't recommend would rather find another Chinese take away

Visited here for a family meal. Great little take away. Prices are reasonable. The order was missing a few items but the food we received was amazing. Highly recommended. Great little gem. Plenty of meat. No issues.

I'm shocked at some of the reviews on here! By far the best local Chinese takeaway! It's always been fresh and no matter what we pick from the menu, always very tasty!! Don't think about another Chinese takeaway in Abergavenny, you'll only end up wishing you went to the Sing Lee

I can’t work out if I’m eating prawn, chicken, or a combo including the village cat. Anyone who can get your food out the door in 3-4 mins had something dodgy planned right from the start. Totally tasteless and almost repulsive. Fist and last time ever to visit and would warn others before trying. Oh and hygiene.... don’t even go there!

Well very poor given totally the wrong main meal very dissapointed mistakes happen but having travelled 10 mile round trip wasn't gonna make it 20 Having phoned up THO very sorry n free meal offered next time.... 🙁

I quite like Sing lee for the occasional takeaway. The chow mein is very oily and packed full of monosodium glutamate. Tastes quite good. Don't expect Mr/Mrs Lee to get their Michelin star anytime soon but for a basic takeaway they are not too bad. Tip: Always a good idea to prep yourself with several pints of your favourite tipple beforehand.

Used this for along time and found most time to be ok However had a poor meal and took it back with the Chinese man moaning at me replaced it but it was vile like chicken prices from frozen The girl is lovely there but I'm afraid we won t be going back

Fav Chinese in town by far. Always very polite food freshly made and just delicious. Sweet n sour pork balls are our favourite.

Sweet and sour prawn Cantonese style was poorest I've ever had;Sauce could have been out of a jar! Our other dish was Szechuan king prawn which was quite tasty. Egg fried rice wasn't fresh. Disappointing overall.

Hemos usado el cantar Lee durante muchos años y siempre disfruto de la comida. Sin embargo, la última vez que pedimos una comida, no había de todo, no fue un error, ya que contó el número de cajas. Habíamos pedido un entrante mezclados que es parcialmente sirve en un recipiente de poliestireno. This used to be a far higher standard and even sold Chinese dumplings. That's gone now & the food has a lot of mono-sodium glutamate. Not the care in cooking that there used to be. Still a good & fast takeaway service

Can't beat a sing lee. Abergavenny has few chinese but this one is still good in my books. Cheap, tastes good, friendly staff.

Best Chinese Take-Away for miles. A Friday night treat the whole family enjoy. Huge selection of both English and Chinese food, all freshly cooked and reasonably riced.

Great service, always polite and friendly. Fast service and if you order the right dishes, they are excellent. Pity they do not deliver, even with a reasonable charge.

We have a take away about twice a month and if we opt for Chinese, it's this place we come to.Don't be put off by the somewhat 1970's decor, the food here is first class. Order by phone or just walk in, whoever is behind the counter will be friendly and efficient. They'll even mix it up a bit if there is something you fancy that isn't on the regular menu.There are several Chinese food outlets in Abergavenny but in my opinion, this one is the best.

Horrendous take away. Will never order from these again, the food was very bland and tasted like it was cooked yesterday and had all been reheated, had nicer takeaway from the frozen section in Iceland!!! Very expensive and felt quite unwell after eating very little of it!!!!!!

I have been a customer of the Sing Lee for years , I ordered a meal for friends tonight , and to say it was terrible would be putting it mildly, the whole thing tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated . The chicken balls dry, the chicken fried rice tasted like the horrible microwave rice where you can taste the packaging , the duck in plumb was just gristle and tasted of pineapple, even the prawn crackers were tasteless !!! When I rang to complain the manager was rude and abrupt , and handed the phone back to the order taker without apology or explanation she told me to bring it back, I explained that no one was in the mood and we had had a glass of wine , her reply ....well I didn't cook it !! Charming , my relationship with the Sing Lee is now permantly dissolved

I had take away in sing lee a lots of time. The food is ok. The good thing is that they are very very fast and if you are in rush this is the place to go.

Very stodgy and glutinous food, poor hygiene rating and an unpleasant day after. The decor as you walk in gives you an idea of what you are going to get...I would hate to see around the back.Not particularly cheap either but honestly not very nice.

as a family we have been customers of the Sing Lee Chinese take away for many, many years, there have been times that the food has been below par but i suppose as chefs change so does the food. Over all we have enjoyed lovely meals from here. The staff have always been friendly and the food is always piping hot and there is plenty of it. We phone our orders through to save time, but the picking up of the food has become problematic due to parking restrictions outside the premises.

Fast service and good tasty food. Phoned the order through and was ready in 10 mins, not bad on a Saturday night! The only downside is that they don't take card payment only cash so go prepared!

Really good Chinese takeaway quick service and cheap too! Use sing lee regular 100% recommend! Have not got a bad word to say!

We have had a number of meals from this restaurant, and think it is very good. We really enjoy the Singapore rice noodles, yung chow and crispy beef in sauce. service has always been very good.

I have noticed a decline in the food for a while but anyway we gave it another go. we wish that we hadn't bothered. the food was terrible, greasy, too much msg and had that slightly tang of being hanging around for far too long. the ribs were just bits of gristle with hardly any meat on them. we threw the food away it was so bad. there is another Chinese takeaway in Abergavenny which we will use as we will not be using the Singlee ever again. avoid it.

Really nice food and fast service. There is so much to choose from on the menu but my absolute favourites have to be the duck with pancakes, sweet and sour Cantonese style chicken and Singapore rice noodles. I don't like beansprouts but they will cook things without them no problem.I've tried other takeaways in town but the food from the Sing Lee is the best!(not sure why it's listed as a restaurant its a take-away)

I've used all Chinese take aways in the area, crick, brynmawr, nantyglow and blanavon. Always go back to sing lee. Their chicken curry is definatly the best and so are their chicken balls. I like the staff and if u get lucky you can have some eye candy from the Bruce Lee lookalike :))

I am sure they put a secret ingredient in Chinese takeaways that make them addictive. Have not had a takeaway for ages and really fancied one. In Abergavenny so tried the Sing Lee which on an early Saturday evening was pretty busy. When got it home first few mouthful (drags) were lovely but soon got sick of it. Main complaints very salty and greasy but aren't they all so should have known better. Service was quick (almost too quick). Highlights were the prawn crackers and sweet and sour pork balls - stuffed full of tasty pork. That's if for me of takeaways until such time the overwhelming desire kicks in again. Healthy diet tomorrow.
