Normally love this place as the food is amazing and there is a warm, buzzy atmosphere usually. However today we walked in as a family, hoping for some lunch and drinks, to be greeted by a brisk and unapproachable waitress. She stated that the lunch service had ended in a rather rude manner and was quite unapologetic or polite in any way towards us. We were obviously disappointed to hear this news at only 2pm, but were more upset with the poor greeting received by one of the waitstaff.

We popped in whilst waiting for our sofa to be washed at the launderette next door! The staff were friendly and professional. It was good to have loose leaf tea in a big (for one!) pot. The sausage and bacon sandwiches were very tasty and well-prepared. My only 'negative' was that service charge was added automatically. Having said that, I would be happy to return.

Visited this café with the other half whilst waiting for the flu/covid jab hub opposite to open! Delicious breakfast meals and coffee in a pleasant venue. Both meals attractively served and well cooked. Husband remarked that it was the best Full English Breakfast that he'd ever had in any establishment. (High praise indeed from him!) Good quality food and value for money.

I popped into Rafferty's today to pick up a sandwich and some water on my way to work. I was a bit surprised the price for a take-away was the same as eating in but I was in a rush so just paid. The menu described the sandwich as ' baked ham' with salad. I imagined it would be hand carved ham as surely this would justify the whopping £7.25 price tag. But when I got to my lunch break I was shocked to see one wafer thin slice of slimy ham, folded over at one end. Granted there was a lot of salad but £7.25? Really? I paid £9.00 in total for a take-away ham salad sandwich and a small can of water. Sorry, but the only two words that spring to mind are RIP OFF. I've checked the menus for other cafes in Sevenoaks and none of them charge so much for so little. Sadly, my advice is, save your money and go else where.

We've been regulars at Rafferty's for a few years so we're worried when it changed hands last year that we wouldn't enjoy going there so much. It's true that it doesn't have quite the quirky character we used to like so much (and also doesn't seem to have the same range of gluten-free cakes) but it's still a friendly and relaxing place to visit for breakfast, lunch or a coffee; and we've enjoyed all the food we've had there under the new management. Recently they've started doing tapas on Friday evenings and we really recommend it. We tried almost everything on the menu and all of it was really good. There was a buzzy, informal atmosphere, the service was excellent, and the staff were clearly working hard to make sure everything went well. We hope to be back for more soon, and wish them every success with this new venture as they definitely deserve it.

We have recently enjoyed their tapas on a Friday evening. It was just lovely. It is not a huge menu but everything is very high quality. The fig balsamic was delicious. The whole baked onion was not only beautifully presented but tasted really good. The owners have spotted a gap in the local market. If you want a pleasant chilled Friday evening Rafferty’s is definitely worth a visit

I live very near Rafferty’s and so when I fancy cake it is an easy way to get cake for me. I come here at lunch with my friends only because of the food is tasty. We know when we come here we are going to be treated terribly by the 2 girls working here. On some occasions, one of the girls will be doing all the work however, mostly, they both aren’t. Everything you ask the girls to do whether it is to have a side plate or a napkin it seems to much for them. Usually they seem to take their break together playing in their phones. I recently came in and saw they had brownies, which is one of my favourites, I ordered the brownie to take away. Once eating it I realised it had coconut in it which I really don’t like and was going to share with someone who is allergic to coconut, luckily I ate it first. I brought the cake back and at first the ladies seemed very apologetic and replaced it with a chocolate cake. We thought we would each have a slice of cake to have in. This is when the 2 girls were laughing and making faces looking at the cake in the takeaway bag. They also laughed about it when re writing the sign to coconut brownies. They are extremely lucky someone who was allergic didn’t eat this cake yet they seemed to find it funny? Rude rude service and I won’t be returning.

However breakfast was still being served and someone who arrived after us was served breakfast although he was joining a party that were waiting for their breakfast to be served. I had lunch here last week and was really looking forward to it as it was a rare, child-free day. I used to come here a lot but haven't been for a while. The breakfast/brunch menu is good but the lunch menu was a few hastily scrawled options on a blackboard, and the didn't have any smoothies as their fruit hadn't been delivered that morning. Undeterred, I order one of teh brunch options and the food was quick and really tasty. What really let the experience down was the service - there were 2 servers and they spent their whole time talking to each other. No-one asked if my food was OK, then when I finished, I was considering whether to have cake and coffee, but although there were only 3 customers in the shop, the staff didn't bother to come over and ask if I wanted anything else. I sat reading for about 10 minutes with my empty plate in front of me, then gave up and went to the counter to pay. They could have made an extra fiver plus tip just by saying 'How was your meal, can I get you anything else?' Basic stuff really! Will try a different cafe next time i have a rae free lunch time.

Poor quality food (I've now had the pleasure of eating two incredibly dry cakes) grubby tables and sticky menus. I used to love visiting the cafe when it first opened - scrummy soups, swift service and a friendly smile. On a recent visit I was one of the only people in there yet it still took 20mins to get tea and a piece of cake! A colleague recently went as well and found that there were no menus, sloppy service and long wait times as well. As a local cafe, in the heart of the community, it's a real shame that this is now the experience this it now offers, but a previously frequent customer, it's simply not worth it anymore.

The food has really improved, no smell of chips! and the coffee is really good. The only reason I haven't given it 100% is because it can be challenging with the buggies occasionally and it is quite small - but that's just an access issue and can't really be helped. The breakfasts are delicious and only had lunch once but was also very good. It can be a bit crowded and noisy but that doesn't spoil it for me - that's part of the atmosphere and is a consequence of it doing a good job in a small space - all good!

Very family friendly and they always seem to have a choice of gluten-free cakes, which isn't something you find everywhere. Love the decor too - relaxed, unfussy yet stylish. Great place.

Stopped off here on our way to Nizels Golf Course, originally planned to have a bite at Toby Carvery as didn't really know the area, but they were opening an hour late so had to find somewhere quick. After a quick google we found Raffertys Cafe, and what a great find it was! Friendly and attentive staff that understand great service, we both had the bagels with scrambled eggs and bacon and coffee which were both excellent, and I'm very fussy about a good cup of coffee! We paid and the cakes looked so good I bought a piece of the Bakewell Tart for the golf course, this was the best Bakewell I have ever had, clearly home baked with crisp pastry base moist sponge and great jam base and icing. Wish this was closer to me and not 50 miles away, as I could just eat another slice as I write this review! Would like to work my way through all the cake selections!! Keep up the good work, many thanks, Matt M

We used to live around the corner and popped in all the time, now we have to make a special effort but it is worth it. Incredibly accommodating to our baby. I have no complaints except that they don't open Sundays any more!

Had a fantastic brunch last week. They were very busy but as we were in no hurry it suited us quite well. My friend and I both ordered cappuccinos which were lovely and had a heart drawn in each one. To eat I had the breakfast ciabatta, which was poached eggs, avocado, bacon, cream cheese and tomato. If I were to have it again I would choose it without tomato being less keen on it, otherwise really good! My friend had the pancakes which she said were really nice. The only thing I would say is that at some points there were a lot of children running around. Not the cafes fault but as its quite small you were definitely aware of them.

My wife and I searched for 'The best cafe in Sevenoaks' and this came up first do we decided to give it a try as it's only walking distance from home. Well what can we say? The food was absolutely fantastic with the Lattes a very close second!! My wife had Eggs Royale and I had the big breakfast, all of it cooked to perfection. Simply cannot fault it, and although they had new waiting staff on today, what things he may have forgotten, he made up by his polite cheery manner! All in all we will definitely be back!!

We live close to Rafferty's and love our regular visits. Can't resist their amazing coffee (I crave their cappuccinos and nowhere else comes close!) and cake. Great atmosphere and staff are always friendly and welcoming.I have two young children and they couldn't have been more accommodating. It can get busy so buggies are generally parked outside but they are under shelter and in full view so that doesn't bother us. No problem with taking car seats in if needed for a baby. The area downstairs is great for the children to play and watch the big screen but they are equally welcome upstairs and crayons are provided. My son loves his 'coffee' - frothy milk with marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles - definitely the best in town. The breakfast and lunch menu are inspired and food always tasty and served promptly. Yes, it can get busy but we've never had to wait long. The children's food is also good - the only scrambled egg my two year old will eat!Well worth a visit. There are also some lovely little shops in the vicinity. Highly recommend!

Was looking forward to going to Rafferty's as had seen it mentioned on line. Sadly it was a disappointing experience. First up I was asked to leave my baby son's buggy outside - not in any sort of secure buggy park but just on the street. It certainly wasn't busy in the cafe and seriously, outside???? NOT very parent friendly. What do they do for people in wheelchairs? After this not very promising start we waited to be served. After a while I saw that people were being served at the counter so went over. Was told that I should sit down and wait although I could look at the cakes if I wanted. Wow. Eventually another member of staff appeared and promptly served a regular customer who came in after us first. Brilliant. At least this second staff member had a smile.A significant wait followed placing our order before it finally arrived. Cakes were adequate. Drinks not exceptional. NB cafe still not busy.I was made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Wont be hurrying back.

A mozzarella sandwiched in a stack of potato rostis, topped with pancetta and rocket. That really hits the spot! A great place for breakfast or brunch, but visitors should be dissuaded from driving as local parking is very limited.

Kid friendly Cafe on two floors. Go downstairs and they have a huge screen showing kids films, and a play area if they don't want to watch, (also good for adults!). Fantastic food, ample choice, very tasty and unique dishes. Lovely staff too. Highly recommended.

I work in catering and hospitality and honestly understand how it is when you are really busy. I sympathise with anyone that does this job as it is hard work and a demanding job. However, I want to share with you my experience from last weekend not so much as to put the business down but hopefully as constructive feedback.I don't know if there was a new chef on duty or someone inexperienced but we waited one hour for our food to arrive. The first meal came out (pancakes with fruit), the waitress said there was no fruit and would we like bacon, we are vegetarian so to suggest a meat product instead of a veggie option was a bit silly. We had to have the pancakes as it was handed to us there and then. By the time the first person had finished the pancakes the rest of us had not received our meals. The next two people got their cooked breakfasts. By the time we finished ours the fourth person had not received his eggs benedict. Someone on the table next to us waited over an hour for the same dish. The problem is not the actual waiting, the waitress kept making out that food was just coming and the chef was cooking it but he obviously wasn't as we waited so long. I would rather have known it was an hour wait for food then be sat down and all eating separately. When we went upstairs to leave, it was so quiet up there, not one table in use, so we were a bit shocked at what we had experienced considering it was not actually that busy. The manager was lovely and offered a lot of our meals free of charge. It can't be nice for him having to refund people and knowing they were disappointed. Please just inform customers of a waiting time and make sure the chef always has poached eggs and rashers of bacon on the go as this was what everyone was waiting for and are obviously the most popular things. Hopefully it was just a one off as the teas were lovely and waiters and manager were great. Cosy atmosphere too,

We held my daughter's 2nd birthday party here as being heavily pregnant, I didn't fancy all the hassle of organising and having it all in my home. It was so straightforward and easy start to finish, Tim, the manager, took care of everything and was incredibly patient with my requests and endless changing of numbers. On the day all had a lovely time and everyone commented on what a great space it was for parties. We had the downstairs area where Disney movies of my daughter's choice were shown on the big screen next to a lovely play area for the little ones. The adults enjoyed the lovely hot drinks and delicious sandwiches and the kids were more than happy with their food too. A wonderful cake was included which was fantastic! Staff were so kind and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. At the end we were able to walk away with our things and the staff kindly tidied everything for us, even the discarded wrapping paper. A lovely additional touch was the writing on the mirror by the stairs wishing my daughter a happy birthday. I'd definitely have another party here and would thoroughly recommend it. Takes all the stress out of it and just makes for an enjoyable time for all. Couldn't have been better. We enjoy Rafferty's for regular lunch dates too.

This is a lovely café I have been to quite a few times, where it's always a pleasure to be greeted with such friendly faces. The last time I went there they had had lots of orders in a short space of time and were rushed off their feet, but were very apologetic and even came to make conversation with me as I was waiting for my take away order. In the end the food was really tasty as usual, especially the home made cake!

Love Rafferty's. always a treat to go there with my teenage daughters. They are not just a cafe but an integral part of the community. Staff are friendly and know many of the customers by name. Loads and loads of local regulars - which I think is a sure sign of consistent quality and good service.

Met a friend here who is a nanny for a 3 year old who visits here regularly. 3 year old requested boiled egg but they wouldn't do it as it's breakfast menu. Not my child so I didn't say anything but would've thought a boiled egg could be accommodated! My pasta dish was nice and overall food, drinks & cakes are fresh & tasty but on the pricey side so not the sort of place I'd go into daily and feed children. They do have a lovely carpeted area with toys and video for younger children so definitely appealing to mummies.

I used to love Rafferty's then it got filled up with the typical Sevenoaks YM's and their children. When you no longer have kids of that age, you don't want to be surrounded by them! So I'd skipped it for a while and then heard it had new owners (the previous owners were lovely!) There was a new menu, so I thought I'd give it a go. LOVELY breakfast with panacakes and bacon and or beautiful stewed fruit. Fab coffee, lovely service and not too many under 5's! It was lovely.Keep up the good work. If you know you are going, reserve a table as seating is limited and it can get crowded.

We stopped in for brunch and the menu had some great treats. It is a fun quirky little place (though very limited tables) and has delicious cakes. My Cappucinos were pretty average - they need to get those better. The owner is nice and clearly is trying to sustain the wonderful atmosphere and welcoming that the previous 'regime' was so good at doing.

Popped in with husband for quick lunch on a Thursday. It was busy however friendly and helpful staff found us a table. Food was excellent, I had smoked salmon salad which was simply divine, husband had Thai chicken wrap which he said was very nice. Special mention to magic tea, so tasty you must try it if you go there. We will be back!

I went for a quick morning snack, and was thoroughly impressed with the enthusiasm and customer care of the staff that greated me when I walked in. I was served a coffee within minutes of ordering and the courgette, lime and pistachio cake was amazing. Definately going back for the cake, and trying the full English breakfast!
