Worst breakfast in a long time. Flat white tasted bitter, like instant coffee. Veggie breakfast contained tepid baked beans and rubbery veggie sausages. Suggest the staff try tasting the food that they serve. Partner's full English also came with partially heated beans and tasteless sausages.

Usually don't give that bad reviews, but this place is something else when it comes to customer service. Everybody get a second chance and even a third in our case. Sat waiting to be served for 15 minutes, staff running around, kept ignoring us. Went inside to ask if we can be served. Answer was someone's coming in a few minutes. Nobody turned up. Went back in again after another 15 minutes. Eventually one of the servers came to take our order. We didn't even were given a menu. So she brought a menu and off she went again. After another 15 minutes or so, we had enough and left. This was our third and last try. Very inefficient for a German run business. On our first visit we got our food eventually and it was good. Last two visits as explained above. Disappointing!

Went for breakfast with some friends. Overall quite disappointed with the food. It took around half an hour for our order to arrive. We had to pay before we received the food which is a bit odd for a waiter service restaurant. Two had the poached eggs of which all four had hard yolks. The full English is quite small for the price (£13). At The Drift Cafe you get much more including a drink for £11. The butter sachets were that warm it was liquid when opened. Suspect the plates had been sat under the lamp for a while before being brought out, hence the hard eggs. One fried egg was still snotty. Coffee cup arrived sat in a puddle in its saucer. Waitress was a bit of a nuisance as she asked us to replace the menus at the end of our table because she couldn’t reach. Just wait till we’d left for goodness sake. Won’t be returning.

Horrendous service. Asked 3 times to be served. 3 team members stood around the bar area disinterested. Ordered a coffee which was bitter and burnt. Never asked if we wanted to dine. Paid, left, never to return.

Although just off the main road the restaurant was busy. We sat outside as the sun was shining but we're served straight away. We both had the Prawn Marie sub with a shared portion of chips and they were very good. The waitress brought over a bowl of water for our dog for which he was grateful! This was our second visit here and will definitely call in again when we next visit Amble.

I thought after Covid that this place had closed down, turns out that it has not. It's actually been taken over. And the result is better. We ordered the soup of the day, chicken sani and the chicken kebab. And they were really delicous, that dipping sauce with the kebab is my new favourite sauce. I wish I knew how they made it and what was in it. The staff are all really lovely and attentive, it is going to be our new go to spot when we visit Amble.

I recently took my wife and kids to Radcliffe's for an impromptu lunch, having heard good reviews, especially with regard to food hygiene and allergy awareness. Eating out together as a family is a very rare event for us, largely due to my wife having coeliacs disease and of course, having typically picky kids who are hard to please! Helpfully, the menu clearly identified gluten free options and upon speaking with the staff, they were aware of the importance of ensuring that any risk of cross contamination was mitigated, such as any gluten free options being cooked/fried separately. We were also reassured when the gentleman taking the order took the initiative to forewarn the kitchen of my wife's allergy before we ordered and going to great lengths to ensure that all issues were checked with the kitchen. Unfortunately, through no fault of the person serving us, there was a mix-up with the order, although the checks subsequently made determined that my wife's meal did not contain gluten. Whilst many might consider this a potential issue which would cause future concern, the steps taken to avoid what are always inevitable risks, in addition to the most impressive and conscientious manner in which the staff and management responded, was laudable. Despite my best efforts, the management insisted that there be no charge for the entire order, even though the food was very nice. Most worthy of praise was the immediate steps taken by the management to investigate how the issue arose, to accept responsibility where required and to learn from the experience. This is a rare quality nowadays in what is sadly an increasingly litigious society! I would highly recommend the venue, the issues faced notwithstanding. Finally, I would especially like to thank one particular member of staff (Dan) who deserves to be recognised for his professionalism, high standard of customer service and effort made to make us all feel welcomed throughout our visit.

Arrived on a sunny Saturday and the outside seating was full. The interior is pleasant enough. Two teas nicely served. We did wait about 40 minutes for our Mezze platters which did have a number of different elements. Unfortunately the pickled red cabbage suffered from a surfeit of vinegar and was difficult to eat when combined with a pepper (or chilli?) also pickled and olives in lots of vinegar. Possibly a bad choice but not cheap as all in £30. Service was nice enough.

Called in for food but was dissuaded from eating after watching the chef at work. Our table allowed a clear line of site into the kitchen where the chef was preparing food while texting on his phone and repeatedly scratching his hair without ever washing his hands. Pretty basic stuff really, and although the guy who seemed to be in charge could clearly see this, he failed to tale any action. Waitress was friendly and helpful, tea was fine, coffee was atrocious.

We had breakfast here due to other cafes being busy or closed. The food was good quality, but a wee bit expensive. I think cafes have increased prices slightly due to Covid. The area is also on the rise, so more visitors means more demand. We had 3 cooked breakfasts. As I said, food quality was good.We walked past at night and it was half full. Beer was £4-5 per pint. It was mainly German beer.

Called in here for breakfast last November whilst staying at a holiday cottage and it was just before 11am on Remembrance Sunday. Walked in, music was playing and it seemed quite nice. Got a table and our drinks came quickly. I then decided to go outside to pay my respects where it was quiet for the 2 minutes silence as it was just about 11am. As soon as I sat down a member of staff rushed outside after me and asked if everything was ok. I explained that I was observing the 2 minutes silence and she went back in. I stayed outside for a while listening to the service that was gathered in the square then went back in. My food was waiting and it was really good. I don't think this place realised it was Remembrance Sunday despite all of the people outside because I asked my wife if the music had been turned off for the 2 minutes and it had not. Hopefully this was just a one off and next time they will do their bit and show some respect like I and everybody else did...

We called into Amble to look at the weekly market and walked past this from the carpark. Since every other eating place and stalls seemed to have queues we decided to pop in on the way back to our car and was very pleased that we did.Nice decor, friendly greeting. I had a bacon panini and dirty fries and my daughter had a BLT. Both portions were generous so much so neither of us could finish which was a shame as the food was delicious. We didn't have a dog but they are dog friendly and give them not just bowls of water but even doggie treats.Prices were pretty standard so no complaints as we got our moneys worth for sure.

Having been VERY badly let down by a nearby cafe (booking made weeks ago for breakfast, turn up in pouring rain to find cafe closed, send FB message, get message back from proprietor to say they'd had 'issues in the cafe over the weekend'...thanks for the heads up guys... ) I desperately phoned around to see where else was available for breakfast. I had visitors up from the other end of the country along with two small children who took shelter by the pods while I frantically googled to see who did breakfast locally. I contacted Radcliffes who answered the phone almost immediately and confirmed they did do breakfast and had some tables available. The atmosphere on arrival was lovely. Friendly staff, nice decor, definite happy buzz around the place. We were served by a really nice guy and all our breakfasts were brilliant. Hardly any waiting at all.The general concensus was that we wished we'd booked Radcliffes in the first place. Great place, massive thumbs up from me, my kids, and my friends

We are fortunate to live 2 minutes away from Radcliffe’s Café Bar! But this doesn’t mean that I can’t write a review (I tend to only write them when I’m on holiday!). The food, drinks, service and atmosphere here are all excellent. The owners pride themselves in offering a friendly, welcoming service to its customers, both local and visitors. Breakfasts are delicious - I highly recommend the avocado and poached eggs on toast. They also offer a good range of deli sandwiches with fries and also German style sausages. And they are hoping to extend their menu soon. They also serve wonderful coffees (the coffee is locally roasted in Amble) and locally baked cakes and scones. And as this is a café bar, let’s not forget to mention the great alcoholic drinks on offer. Radcliffe’s likes to offer beers that you don’t see in every pub. So, they serve a range of continental beers (such as an Italian lager, a dark German beer and a strong Belgian beer). There is also a wide range of gins on offer, as well as wines, ciders and other spirits. The decor inside is modern and welcoming and there is also a large seating area outside that is a sun trap during the day! I highly recommend a visit to Radcliffe’s Café Bar. You won’t be disappointed!

We'd planned to have fish and chips, as per the Amble tradition, but all the places were rammed and by chance we found Radcliffes Cafe Bar. A limited sandwich/fries menu, but ohh, what sandwiches. My wife had the simple bacon sandwich and I had a bacon brie and cranberry sandwich. Mine came with a generous amount of fries/chips while my wife had sweet potato fries. The sandwiches were jus unbelievable; I've never seen so much bacon on a sandwich even when I've made it myself! Strongly to be recommended. It has to be said the service was a bit slow but I have no idea if that is typical: the waitress did say she'd been demonstrating the making of the Radcliffe Club sandwich, so it's possible there are new staff in the kitchen, hence the slowness. But forgiven!

The vision of the owners, to create a European style bar, inspired us to go in and sample the atmosphere and a drink. Regrettably, surly service at the bar and a reasonably naff ‘80s playlist did not create the vibe we expected. No sign of tapas, nothing more than a slightly down at heel Northumberland bar. Very expensive drinks too £5.60 for a pint would even have London customers wincing! If the owners’ dream of creating something attractive and European is genuine then they need to be present and visible so that this is delivered....and then they can inspire the staff to do similar. What a disappointment. Huge potential but no visible leadership to deliver.

This was one of our most enjoyable and exciting restaurants in Amble. We always looked forward to going back with their exciting menu and cakes to die for. Last week we found an excuse to go back, first for a number of weeks and Oh dear, what has happened. The menu is only a small subset of what it was, the cakes have vanished and all they had were scones, the quality really wasn't as good as last year. In fact the only thing that hasn't slipped are the prices. It was worth paying top prices for an exciting menu and excellent quality but now .... Maybe by streamlining they can cut cuts while maintaining the income but for us personally, we won't be going back I'm afraid.

We don't visit Amble often and had not noticed this establishment previously. The outside seating caught our eye. Not the most comfortable as there were no back rests on the benches but it was not a long stay.

Had high hopes for lunch here but sadly the food failed to impress today. Nice place though - looks quality!

We were spending the day visiting places down the coast and having started up towards Holy Island we'd ended up in Amble around lunchtime. We found Radcliffes purely by accident while walking around.

We popped into the Radcliffe Cafe Bar, not the cheapest place to drink that’s for sure. But lovely ambience, interesting choice of different beers, most definitely not Punch Taverns beers.

Called in for lunch and really impressed. Excellent beers, and I had a vegan flatbread with roasted veg which was very tasty. Staff are friendly, and if we'd found it earlier in our week's stay in Amble we'd have visited several times.

Came to the beach and we were peckish after a long walk. Searched on trip advisors for dog friendly places and Radcliffe’s didn’t disappoint. Very good look restaurant, and the food is different. The burger was lovely and the flatbread was full.

Mr sister and I had coffee and scones here yesterday and were very impressed, so today when we needed somewhere that was dog and wheelchair friendly we came back for lunch.

Absolutely delicious lunch. Had the best cappuccino all week in Amble, even better than Spurelli's next door which is good BTW. The coffee came with an ace choc chip biscuit. A good omen for lunch to come. Lots of original choices with Germanic twist. But opted for fish finger sandwich which was simply the best I've ever eaten. Lovely fresh brown bread with gorgeous home made fish fingers. Exquisitely fresh fish. Accompanied with vegetable crisps and a good salad. This description doesn't do justice. Then I had a half of Belgium blond beer on tap. That really was the proverbial icing on the cake.

We are locals and called in to see what it was like. Very happy. Nice decor, friendly atmosphere, pristine toilets. Tea came with a little biscuit which was nice. Food was delicious (Breakfast stack and Avocado stack with salmon) which looked small on the plate but was just right. Will be back. PS you can just go in for a coffee/tea/beer which is great in Amble

We visited today and although I don’t review many places I feel compelled to let other people know what a gem this place is. From the nice hello when we arrived, to the service and ambience and the fab food, everything about this place was great. We ordered crab sandwiches for hubby and fish finger sandwiches for me. The food was beautifully presented with hand made crisps and side salad in soft whole meal, hand cut bread. I feel that a lot of care was taken in creating the menu. We enjoyed our food and the price we paid was well worth it. We will definitely visit again. Well done to the management and staff.

Visited several times during our holiday in May along with Brian our Border Collie mostly in the morning in the middle of his walks! We had a few breakfasts and coffee along with a few beers on a couple of afternoons. Loved the interior, the staff were friendly and food was delicious. Best flat white coffees served in fab crockery.

Called in for lunch as we thought the menu outside was quite different from the normal fish and chips type fare. There were no staff around when we went in and we sat for ages until someone appeared at the bar. The lack of greeting and feeling of being ignored was not a good first impression. We placed our order for crab sandwich and bratwurst with fries and got our drinks. The coffee was lovely. The crab sandwich was huge, served in doorstep slices of crusty brown bread. It was very rich with a lot of dark meat rather than white and I couldn't finish it. A smaller portion at a lower price would be better as £9.95 is pricey for a sandwich. The bratwurst was very nice though.

Four of us called in for a drink last week. The place is done out very nicely indeed, good bar selection and atmosphere, a little more expensive than elsewhere.

10 hungry cyclists dropped in for lunch without booking, and we were amazed at the speed in which we were served. The food was great, and the service exceptional. Thanks for filling up our water bottles too.

Not been there in the evening, but have regularly visited it with our dog for afternoon coffees which are ground in the village. Gluten free cakes are excellent as well.

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.
