había reservado un almuerzo especial para cuatro semanas antes de la comida planificada. recibí un correo electrónico me recordaba a la reserva unos días antes, pero luego en la mañana, recibí una llamada de teléfono a decir que ya no podían acomodar.no nos ofrecen un lugar en el club de golf no 19 donde la comida era buena, pero fue un club y había una gran pantalla, no había nadie para recibirnos y era más caro.

ok, permite tratar los aspectos positivos antes de la estancia larga lista de temas con Argent D'Or.Aspectos positivos:Cocina - generalmente buenoEl servicio de restaurante atento y servicialAspectos negativos:1. Llegada en recepción - nos recibieron pero nos invitaron a ir y sentarse nosotros mismos en el salón/bar - si se puede encontrar un asiento.2. El salón bar - es muy frío. Cuando le preguntamos al personal a la luz del fuego, nos dijeron que no podía porque "no decaer en tiempo más tarde en la noche" (todavía no entiendo).3. El bar - Lounge tiene hilo musical de horrible que es suficientemente ruidoso que interfiere con su capacidad para mantener una conversación. Este es el mismo hilo musical que me despertaba cuando me alojé en este hotel en diciembre (me despertaba a las 5 de la mañana ... agradable).4. El salón bar - fue interrumpido cada pocos minutos por un grupo de juerguistas borrachos que siguieron viniendo ida y vuelta a través de una puerta al exterior (permitiendo que la habitación incluso más fríos) y que nos gustó a gritar mucho porque estaban bastante borracho.Así que en esencia que esperar en un pub antes de ir al restaurante, el cual está catalogado como restaurantes. Si quieres sentarte en un pub antes de ir a cenar voy a elegir cenar en un ... pub.5. El salón bar - nos dejaron sentados por algún tiempo antes bebidas pedidos fueron tomadas y cuando mi G&T llegó la tónica era plana (muy plana). No hay problema con que nos lo reemplazaron pero la sustitución era tan planas. claramente a alguien en el bar no entendía (o atención) que los clientes no quieren agua plana de cocacola.En este punto, estaba empezando a preguntarse qué tipo de noche iba a ser.6. Otra larga espera en el bar salón antes de cualquier menús apareció. (de hecho, fue una hora después de nuestro tiempo designado de descanso antes de que finalmente nos llevaron al restaurante ... y yo estaba dispuesto a dar en este punto ya que era 9 pm en esta etapa).7. El menú - de hecho había dos menús que era bueno - hasta leerlos. Menú 1 (el menú estacional) era esencialmente "setas + algo más" ... con algunas tocan muy aparejados inusuales y personalmente no percibir este menú como vagamente atractivo. Menú 2 - era habitada por - lo habéis adivinado, - hongos, mariscos y pescados (con los mariscos).En general, la impresión creada por la elección de los productos y combinaciones raras en los dos menús era uno de pretenciosas extrema y francamente la izquierda el cliente perplejo y con muy poco atractivo. Yo estaba listo para llamar un día en este punto, pero dado que eran entretenidos amigos no queríamos completamente arruinar su noche de rescate.La única opción práctica para mí era un bistec chuletón y me específicamente un punto de pedir que vienen sin setas (más de que más tarde) o de cualquier otra de las otras sin sentido que cambia todas las temporadas que acompañó. En el momento de solicitar el caballero tomar nuestro orden era realmente servicial y al final me pidió un acompañamiento de verduras (más tarde).también eligió un plato de conejo y de nuevo tuvimos que pedir que sin las setas que le acompañó en el menú (nuevo otra extraña fusión).8. Otro problema - un indeseados amuse-bouche llegamos que era una pieza floja de pescado con su pieza floja de ensalada anexas - ¿por qué en la tierra cualquiera que piensa que sería incluso remotamente atractivo. he pasado.10. Tres de los entrantes fueron horribles. Tres de nosotros elegimos bistec para nuestro plato principal. Los filetes estaban mal pero la salsa peppercorn era insípido. La cuarta comida era cerdo que consistía en tres diminutos medallones de cerdo con verduras . Incluso tuve que dar mi amigo mis patatas . dos tenían dulces que eran pobres. café en el salón era fresco.Las únicas cosas buenas eran que el personal era bueno y la botella de Riocha era de primera clase.no nos quejamos porque nos llevaron allí a nuestros amigos.No llenar una queja en-línea. he recibido una respuesta diciendo que sería resuelto en 48 horas y 8 días más tarde todavía estoy esperando.no volveremos.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch , the food was delicious , the service was exceptional, the table was beautiful , wonderful room , top top class, not only will I recommend but I have recommended many times to friends and family !

The surroundings etc., are faultless but we had afternoon tea and at a price of £18.50 per person it was well overpriced. If we go back it will be for a lunch which seems much better value.

We went their for lunch. The restaurant was empty and very quiet. The staff members were talking very loud and said very unpleasant comments in French... unfortunately, we are French too...and that spoiled our moment!Foodwise, the mains were great and the dessert (rice pudding for me) was one of the best I have ever had!Overall, the place is georgeous, the food was amazing but the staff was unpolite and very rude!!!It is a shame because the restaurand and its surroundings are amazing.So would recommend if you are not scared to be judged by some haughty staff.

estado cerca casa varias veces este año para comer en Argent D'or, la comida, el vino y los cócteles son siempre fabuloso y siempre lo pasamos de maravilla.específicamente nos fuimos para una comida en un jueves por la noche a finales de junio. Le pedimos al hotel para llamar a un taxi para que nos llevara casa (nuestra rutina habitual). Nos dijeron que 10 minutos sin embargo 30 minutos más tarde seguía sin ningún signo del taxi. Después del hotel persiguieron el taxi un número de veces decidieron mantener esperando ya no. cancelaron el taxi y usando un 8 plazas tipo de vehículo nos condujo amablemente en sí todo el camino hasta Kenton sin costo adicional!Nos quedamos tan impresionados y agradecidos por esto y creo que estos días puede ser difícil encontrar un buen servicio y realmente no puedes pedir más que eso!Definitivamente volveremos!

Esta fue nuestra segunda visita a este restaurante (comentario anterior creada bajo el nombre del hotel).En ocasiones prev_nus fue para el almuerzo y para eso era para la cena.Ubicación - fantásticas vistas y caminos de acceso también es práctica para Heddon en el pueblo de la pared.El personal es eficiente, amable, servicial y eficientedecoración - Relajante, de alta calidad y bien cuidada.y la comida - Buen menú selección de comida de menú cocinado a la perfección.Precio de comida - caro pero merece la pena con otros factores considerados.pero es el precio de las bebidas son bien por encima, con una botella de vino de la casa a partir de 25,00 euros.

nunca hemos estado en la noche, pero cada vez para el almuerzo ha sido una delicia. El restaurante y el hotel están hermosamente presentada, el personal atento sin pretensiones y estoy muy contento mantener una distancia adecuada. El almuerzo tiene, en cada ocasión ha sido meticulosamente preparada y presentada y (al contrario que muchos lugares estos días) perfectamente sazonada. Como han mencionado otros, la oferta de almuerzo de 12.50 libras por 2 campos ofrece verdaderamente excelente relación calidad-precio. El único inconveniente en nuestra última visita fue una mala conexión wifi para la máquina de tarjeta que se tradujo en un paseo alrededor de las instalaciones antes de que el pago se completa. Dicho esto, sin duda volveremos tan pronto como sea posible.

Una vez más una comida estupenda en el D'Argent o restaurante. hermoso comedor decorado en tonos crema y oro gris. a las 2.00 pm de grupos de personas que vienen para té de la tarde que era delicioso. Gran relación calidad-precio para la comida encantadora. Suntuoso salón para tomar algo antes de comer y después de tomar café para el almuerzo. fuego encendido. Buen acceso para sillas de ruedas.

Took up the special offer lunch voucher (directly from Close House website) for 2 course lunch for £12.50 and three courses for £16.50 in Argent D'Or resturant. Absolutely lovely food, delicious. The sea bream was cooked to perfection. A wonderful taster to the standard of food offered. The restaurant was busy but the customer service was first class. Would thoroughly recommend booking before end March 2013 when the offer finishes.

Was treated to a meal here by my daughter and it was fantastic. The food was quite simply beautiful and the service fantastic. The atmosphere was elegant will go again.

Absolutely superb lunch. Good was fabulous, especially the chocolate go Davy with salted caramel. So opulently decorated yet free of pretentiousness and the staff were a joy. We were so well looked after. The only reason I didn't give it give stars fir value is that it is £3.50 for a coffee which I do think is a tad too much even though it was rather good. All in a wonderful place. It's great to see the huge improvements being made to the estate and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Just had lunch and I can safely say that we have both really enjoyed the whole experience from entering the hotel (a friendly greeting means a lot) to getting the bill - the food was excellent, the views are amazing, the staff are attentive but not overpowering, the ladies loos are wonderful - I cannot hink of any other adjectives to describe this restaurant - we'll definitely be back. Thanks to you all.

Took friends to the special lunch. I have been on several lady day lunches so hoped it wouldn't disappoint. It didn't. The men had the three course and my friend and I had the two which I feel is ample. Good selection for each course. Men had hammock and black pudding and then we all had steak. We all wanted them cooked differently and they were spot on. Only one thing I asked the waiter if I could have dauphinois potatoes instead of chips he said he would ask but chips arrived with no mention of request. Still enjoyed them. The puds were gorgeous. We all had something different -chocolate cake, cheese board, panacotta and I went for boozy cherry creme brûlée which was divine. We will all be back

Enjoyed the most delicious restaurant meal we have had in a long while. The steaks were so tender they almost melted in the mouth. Can't praise enough the standard of service. Our drinks and complimentary entrees were served in a comfy lounge in front of a roaring fire - perfect ambience on that cold January evening prior to being seated in the opulent restaurant. It was a special treat for a special birthday and we were not disappointed.

i booked lunch at close house for the 25th of jan as a treat for my partner and myself,from start of visit until we left nothing was to much trouble. from bar staff to resturant staff all very atentive and could not do enough for you.I would highly recomend a visit to close house the food was realy good aswell

As always with close house, excellent service and no end of opulence, whether you're waiting in the lounge or dining in the restaurant. No expense has been spared and it shows.Quality and presentation of the food is second to none. Being New Year's Day, it was a set menu with a decent variety of choice whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian.Staff very friendly and prompt with everything.Good value for money too.

I recently took my wife out for her birthday lunch to Argent d'or having visited previously and been impressed.I was a tad dissapointed to be honest. The hotel pitches itself at being fine dining and doesn't quite achieve it. We were welcomed by the reception and asked to take a seat in the lounge (The decor is oppulent to say the least- very very comfortable). After around a 5 minute wait without being asked if we would like a drink or shown a menu we were shown to our table. The little touches to the service were just missing. No seats pulled out for us, a very polite and friendly waiter but not what I expect to see from a fine dining restaurant. I'm sure he could have been good but he needs training: "Are you ready guys?" I had to ask him not to over fill my wine glass and we were left to refill glasses ourselves. The water was plonked on our table not poured into our glasses. It sounds like i'm really complaining - I'm not it was perfectly pleasant it's just a shame that these little touches which make all the difference were not in place.The food was nice (lamb starter a little over cooked, beef main delicious).We will be back I'm sure but it's crying out for a little more proffesionality with the service.

Due to a golf tournament our lunch reservation was moved from No19 into the Argent D'or restaurant. The main meal was excellent with 6 vegetables and plenty of meat. Starters were good although I think it would depend on what you chose, desserts were very nice. Overall a nice experience in a great location.

Suprised at a couple of the reviews as could not fault this restaurant in terms of food, decor or service. At this price you have high expectations but it does deliver. On arrival you are met with a great view which starts your experience, a warm welcome when entering and pre dinner drinks. The restaurant decor is visual stunning, the staff are attentive but not overly so. The menu is inventive, with a local flavour, dishes come well presented and meet the expectations in my opinion. It is also work taking a short stroll to the '19 bar' the new golf clubhouse, a drink on the terrace on a nice evening is worth the price but one slight negative, is the staff in this part of the hotel perhaps can be a bit more welcoming, minor point but otherwise a first class experience all round.

Very disappointing food and restaurant service. The aspirations of the menu aren't consistent with the quality of the ingredients used and the execution of dishes. Much of the food simply lacked flavour and even the bread was under-proved and under cooked - if you can't make bread properly, just buy it in... That said, the beef was tasty and properly cooked.We didn't appreciate being called 'guys' by all of the waiting staff nor having to pour our own water/wine as the staff just forgot about this after the first top-ups. Ambience was a bit grim mainly due to the lack of other diners.Also the decor is awful, unless you're a Carrington/ Colby and can't let go of the shoulder pads...

went for Sunday lunch with a group of friends, the location is stunning. we had drinks outside which took an age to be served. When we went to the dining room there were only 8 more gueststhe starters in general were nice, the mains were again nice but nothing fantastic. the service was very average, unused wine glasses were never removed from table. we served our own wine and nobody came and asked how the food was. the table cloths hadn't seen an iron for a while and the staff seemed more interested in showing around future wedding couples.i wish trip advisor had a rating between average and very good because that's where it was but i have gone for very good because the location deserves better than average.I was there for a wedding about a month ago and it was faultless in every way, food service and location so was expecting something very special for Sunday lunchHaving said all that this place is well worth a visit as the location is stunning

I was out with the family to celebrate my brother's graduation and happened upon this place through Tripadvisor. Boy am I glad we went here. Long before you reach the Close House, you are treated to some nice vistas of the English countryside. Once at the gate, the long narrow tree-lined entrance road gives way to the greenery and architecture that surround Close House. Once inside, we were quickly guided to the Lounge as our table was made ready (either that, or it was still occupied by someone). Regardless, with such beautiful decor, you could've excused me for thinking we only sat there for 5 minutes. My eyes lept from side to side, floor to ceiling, scouting the detailed decorations and the lovely fireplace - only stopping to look outside the window as the sun was setting before going back to the cosy interior and the sounds of hotel guests' conversations following what seemed to be a pleasant round of golf.Before you knew it, we were quickly ushered to our table in the dining room. The juxtaposition of Victorian-like decor with the modern furniture and refreshing menu choices was an immediate hit for me. It felt relaxed and classy - as if this was your own summer home tucked away in the middle of nowhere. The food was a feast for the taste-buds as well as our eyes - and I feel that no matter how many words I write, it will never be enough to fully convey the journey my palate was taken on. Sadly, before I realized it, laughs had been shared, food had been (gratefully) consumed, and the sun had already set. Our time at Argent D'Or had come to an end. I am very grateful for the staff and their dedication that I was able to celebrate with my family in such a fine place. If I ever do return, I'll be expecting a visit here sooner than later.

As my title suggests, I think that this restaurant is rather sumptuous. You are surrounded with fabulous quality and stunning design. Add to that the exquisite food and warm service and I think you'll be in for a good night! I don't dine out very often, but could be persuaded to come here a little more frequently. There was a relaxed atmosphere about the place, nothing is rushed. The hotel grounds are extensive and well kept, the greenhouse to the side of the building looks very interesting. Stephanie is a real asset to the restaurant. 10/10

We visited on the night of our 10th aniversary and wanted a special restaurant in which to celebrate. We were certainly not let down! From the moment we arrived we felt like we are being pampered, but in a very warm way. Almost liek being entertained at a friends house for dinner. The staff are good at quickly becoming friendly with you, remembering your food & drink choices and advising well. The dinner menu has a good choice, we found it difficult to choose! The lamb (assuming it is still available) would be my recomendation, you wont be disappointed! we took coffee in the lounge after dinner and felt so at home that we stayed and chatted for over an hour. Amy (I do hope i remembered right) looked after us in the bar and was lovely. We won't wait until another milestone celebration to return!

This is a very special restaurant in a hotel that seems to be going from strength to strength! I do hope that my 5* rating speaks for itself. The food and level of service are top notch. A very quick review - if you want to know more you'll have to check it out!

As part of our stay at Close House we took dinner in Argent D'or. The hotel is quite compact, but very tastefully decorated. The restaurant is certainly their feature attraction! It somehow manages to feel intimate despite being a good size. I guessed about 60 seats in total. The food & service were both very good. The Fillet of beef cannot be faulted! Craig looked after us very well.

We had dinner in Argent Dor just last night. As the review title suggests, the ambiance is very good. The restaurant is rather breathtaking, kind of glitzy but very, very plush. We particularly liked the chairs, they are beautiful. The food was flawless, we didnt opt for the taser menu but i think that we will next time. The staff we're very pleasent, all quite young but enthusiastic and welcoming. The wine list is extensive! It took me a while to battle my way through it. It is worth the effort though, there are some very nice bottles to choose from. I would reccomend the Rioja (I think it was 2009). 100% worth another visit!

A beautiful restaurant in a beautiful hotel. The food and service made our visit seem very special. I would reccomend the 'tasting menu' - it is simply stunning. We were extended a very warm welcome on arrival and this followed all the way through our stay. Very well done!

We visited this restaurant for a special occasion and were not let down by anything.We were greeted in a warm and polite manner and escorted to the guest lounge upon where we found a reserved table adorned with a bottle of champagne on ice. The menus were brought over to us promptly. My wife asked a few questions about the food choices and these were answered clearly by a well informed member of staff.Once in the restaurant after making our food choices we could take in the splendor of the surroundings. A great deal of effort and attention to detail in the newly designed room has made this the most beautiful and comfortable place to eat out.It is fair to say the food matched the surroundings as we took our starters, both very tasty and fresh served by a very polite team of mostly young people.Main courses were again excellent. My steak was local produce and cooked to my exact request, lovely. My wife chose a fish dish, Sea bass, which was also very tasty with lots of oozing flavours, again excellent food.The wine we had was recommended by a member of staff which was also perfect for the occasion and went so well with our food. All in all a very nice night in superb surroundings and treated by all members of staff in a courteous and polite manner. Magnificent establishments like this need to have teams of people that care. I can say that all of the people we dealt with in Argent D'or and the wider hotel cared. Very well done to Peter and his team. We will be back.

My Husband and I took his Mum to Close House for Sunday Lunch. They must train their staff exceptionally well as the service was knowlegable, courteous and friendly. They didn't have the particular bottle of 'Sauvignon' we requested, but offered us a more expensive one at a discount - which we took them up on!The restaurant has just undergone a fabulous re-vamp and it had a gorgeous, opulent 'feel' to it. As for lunch itselt - the food was scrumptious. I had the pea soup with pancetta and pea shoots - simply stunning. My Husband and Mum-in-law both had the home-made parfait which also went down a treat. Between us we chose main courses of Roast Beef and Lamb (I tried both) and were tasy, well presented and generous in portion size. We travel all over the North East to find 'nice' restaurnats to take my Husband's Mum and this was by far the best yet (and believe me, we have eaten in rather a lot of different places)! Can't wait to return.
