R Bar in Sunderland

Fuimos en un sábado por la noche y era muy ocupados, pero el personal se las apañó para encontrar una mesa para la cena. Buena comida y una buena variedad de cervezas.

Pasamos una noche en Sunderland y me apetecía comer y beber en las inmediaciones del hotel en el que nos alojábamos, excavados la buena cerveza guía y descubrí este bar . La promesa de una amplia gama de cervezas es una cervecería local se convirtió en una habitación individual que ofrece en el bar, que fue una decepción, por el lado bueno la comida que pedimos estaba muy bien, lo que acompaña con patatas fritas podría haber hecho un poco más caliente, que siempre va a ser el problema con que sirve comida en piedra de platos fríos. El bar en sí es conectado a un hotel y es bastante acogedor y el personal eficiente y amable.

Como parte del año nuevo régimen de salud, hemos completado un paseo desde el muelle norte hasta el pueblo de Whitburn y volver. El jueves es nuestro día comer todo lo que quieras y con esto en mente, decidimos llamar a este establecimiento para comer algo. Fuimos recibidos por un miembro del personal agradable que nos enseñó el menú, y sábado disfrutando de las vistas desde una de las ventanas del salón. Todos nos comentábamos lo calentar la habitación era, justo después de un paseo marítimo muy fría. El menú ofrece una buena selección de comida tradicional bar, bocadillos, etc. Me decidí por los mejillones cocinados en un helado y salsa de ajo, mi compañero la hamburguesa mexicana, otro de nuestra tribu eligió el filete de cadera diario especial. Todas las comidas llegó rápidamente y fue cabeza abajo y meter. Mis mejillones eran la perfección, la única crítica es que me siento la tostada NI√±podría haber sido sustituida por una baguette, ideal para mojar en la deliciosa salsa. La hamburguesa era a mis socios satisfacción, las patatas fritas conseguimos una aprobación en particular. Los más pequeños culata estaba cocinado a la perfección, me ayudó a terminar! Con las bebidas, etc. , la factura era de un razonable 36,00 , bien vale la pena el precio en mi opinión. Volveremos.

Hemos comido aquí dos veces y las dos veces fue fantástico. He tenido carne y el resto de la familia tenía cordero. Las porciones son muy generosas y una gran relación calidad-precio. Siendo ventiladores de Sunderland nos encantó la decoración y todos los objetos y recuerdos. En nuestra segunda visita nos llevamos nuestros abuelos como han sido ventiladores desde los días del parque de roker y también les pareció genial. Definitivamente volveremos, posiblemente por una noche noche estancia ya que el hotel es también fantástico!

La santísima Trinidad de una buena noche y todo puede ser hecho en Rbar en las noches de fin de semana. Gran zona de fumadores, gran servicio, buenos precios, buenos vinos y cervezas y un gran éxito un botón y ganar (o no) recorridos libres y no nos! Gracias Rbar, una gran noche.

For the price our fish and chips plus pint, special for Fridays, was excellent. A good range of real ales.

Thought we would give this one more try inthe past we have had good and bad experiences, we ordered a mixed grill and rump steak When the meals arrived my steak was as tough as tarzans foot the chips were dryer than a camels scrotum and the mushrooms were out of a tin. After complaining to one member of staff who just shrugged his shoulders as he took my meal to be replaced.We then had to wait for a long time before the meal was returned during which time we asked to speak with the duty manager While doing this my meal was returned the waiter walked away without replacing the cutlery, the manager then went for it and refunded the cost of my meal this meal was Just as poor as the first one dispite complaining again we got the same response as the first time, needless to say we wont be eating in here again.

We visited during the recent Sunderland Airshow and have used to use this bar in the past. It is in an incredible location for a sea view.. The female member of staff (a young girl) didnt seem to have a clue how to serve customers . ie not trained in "please and thanks or what can I get you" its all basic training really but clearly not good or profesionaland if you dont give staff direction this is what happens. Because of that we didnt order food . Also the Sun Fm Radio station broadcasting in front of the hotel managed to deafen all the customers in front of the hotel during the airshow. Do these DJ`s think the world is DEAF .. turn it down. We saw loads of VIPS ( many older people) who clearly looked annoyed that they couldnt even speak the person next to them after paying the fees for a VIP table..... while addressing one young person the DJ referred to th customers not in the VIp area as follows " Oh a VIp badge so your not sitting with the FILTH are you " charming Sun FM ..

Staff r so un organised Friday 25th July 2014 sunderland airshow waiting ages at the bar and only serving who they want ie lads serving young lasses when ppl at the bar waiting 20 mins or more still get served .... me and my partner come here loads times spend our money ... need to get decent staff and b more organised I won't b spend our money here anymore ....

Popped in for lunch and a few drinks. Chose to sit outside. The tables were filthy. Had to ask them to be cleaned. The girl gave one quick wipe. I had to ask her again to clean it. It was filthy. Ordered goats cheese tart which was simply a pre cooked pastry case with a slice of goats cheese in it. I thought it was a joke to be fair! Never ever had anything so bad! I certainly won't be back when there are some good places for food on the front.

So unorganised, sat waiting an hour for 1 starter then another 45 mins for our mains - really frustrating. Food ok but puts you off when waiting for so long

I went here for a bar meal on Sunday night and it was terrible! When I placed a food order the waitress acted like it was the biggest inconvenience of her life. She did tell us there was a delay and there definitely was - about 45 minutes - and when it arrived the fried food was stone cold and horribly greasy and congealed, everything looked like it had been thrown together by amateurs, lukewarm, no dressing on the salad, we had to go looking for cutlery and no-one came to ask if everything was ok (which it most definitely wasn't!) There are much better restaurants up the road which I'll be going to from now on. One good point was the bar man was very polite and good at his job. I've given it two stars because of him and also because I've been before and it wasn't as bad previously.

We have ate and drank here many times without issue, so visited here on a Sunday lunchtime to eat. After purchasing drinks, we made selections from the menu and went to the bar to order, only to be told by the waitress that the chef was simply too busy to take any food orders, however we could wait if we wanted until the chef was less busy, but this could be any time. We found this incredibly odd as the place was unusually quiet, and also quite an unprofessional that thing to say to a customer! So although we really cant offer comment on the food, the fact that the bar staff refused to sell us food and allowed us to walk out of the door to go somewhere else would ring alarm bells. Sunday lunch should be a hugely busy time for pubs and restaurants, however this place didn't seem interested in the slightest.

Decent choice of food we all needed a light meal, all had Jacket Potatoes with side salad, however everything seemed to be full of mayonnaise, some may like this but personally not keen but otherwise good service, and possibly not everything contains mayo on the menu.

Tienes que pedir la comida en la barra pero después te la llevan a la mesa. Cada día tienen una especialidad. Muy buenas las Cheesy Chips Recomendable 100%

Busy sporting bar (loads of TVs to watch football). Bright and cheerful décor, friendly staff and decent beer. Minus one star because the chef went AWOL on the Monday night we visited.

The Rbar is a part of the Roker Hotel and a lively night spot. The real ale, Sonnet 43, is great and comes in 4 varieties and they offer a full range of other drinks. The food on offer is cheap, tasty and well presented.

I was here for a trip out with the wife down the seafront we fancied something to eat and saw from the road side the r-bar with the terrace outside so we decided to go for lunch. as we entre we approached the bar to order our food and the staff were very friendly and polite we ordered our food I went for the mixed grill and the wife went for the fish and chips witch we didn't have to wait long for the food arrived very hot and looked extremely appetizing well presented. the fish and chips arrive on large square plate in large basket witch amy said tasted delightll even to say best she had in a while. as for me the mixed grill was the largest iv seen as in other places small portion witch this was not with piece of sirloin chicken breast, gammon, porksteak sausage. let alone the black pud chips tomato mushrooms onionrings. was cooked to how I asked. and for the best grill iv had it as like sitting in a country gastro pub with the staff there when needed and not intrusive caroline lovely lady we will be back in near future

Having arrived early to attend a wedding in a nearby church my party called into the R Bar for quick drink. We were instantly welcomed by the friendly staff behind the bar. The bar was spacious and tidy but the choice of beers was fantastic. We did not eat but the bar menu choices looked good. Although this was a flying visit I look forward to going back one day.

Of all of the restaurants we could have chosen for lunch, sadly we walked into this one. The actual restaurant is nice and has a friendly atmosphere but sadly, the food was substandard. My partner and I shared a starter of olives and bread, which in reality should be very difficult to get wrong. However, the olives were, well, olives! There was no flavouring, herbs, olive oil dressing etc, just olives! So it was rather tasteless.I had fish and chips for my main course. The fish was huge and delivered in a big basket but sadly underneath a foot of not so nice batter, there was a fish finger's worth of actual fish!! The hand cut chips were limp and greasy, and it was pretty obvious that the whole thing had been cooked in old oil, due to the smell. The best thing on the plate was the mushy peas and I don't even like them!My partner had the 8oz sirloin, of which there was 6oz of fat and gristle. The chips were the same as mine - nasty - and the mushrooms had been deep fried rather than pan fried, in the same old fat. We don't get a lot of time off together and love to try different places for lunch, just wish we had tried a totally different place altogether. I don't know whether the chef was having a bad day (mind you, we were the only people eating at the time, so he wasn't exactly stressed out), as I have read other positive reviews, especially regarding the chips, but I wouldn't like to try again, just in case it was the same. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Come from Australia for a school reunion in this bar, as I went to Monkwearmouth School for a couple of years when I was younger. Great music for all ages, great atmosphere.

I visited R Bar with my fiancée and in-laws last night and thoroughly enjoyed myself!The gammon I had was a little over-done but the hand-cut chips were amazing! I feel like the prices on the menu should reflect a slightly bigger portion size, but nonetheless I'd still happily return.The bar and waiting staff were friendly and helpful, and although the newest waiter couldn't answer our question he immediately (and very politely) went about trying to help us out.Loved it!

May Bank Holiday in Roker was a scorcher and after a day walking along the beach, fun fairs and rock pooling with a little one what better than a sit down and a cold drink. Bar was a bit full but as I said, it was a bank holiday weekend! Staff were polite and the drinks weren't to pricey. Lots of football memorabilia about and a great atmosphere. Food as well if you want but a nice cold pint did the trick for me =)

Staff are so friendly, drinks are good value for money and our boys really enjoyed the pool table. Nothing to dislike, the view from the bar is lovely.

Popped in here as we heard it had a microbrewery. Beer selection was very good and we chose a table with a beautiful view out to see. The staff were just putting little candle lanterns on the table as we left. Think we will be going back, especially as we got the first round free on a drinks promotion. The food looked quite nice too although we didn't eat. We will be going back to eat next time. Certainly worth a visit. Best points- views and beer

My friend booked this deal after receiving a text from The Roker it also included a live band. We expected to get caught out but no it was a genuine deal. Thank you to all the staff this was a very pleasurable evening offering lots of people a cheap great night out Well Done

i have been in hear a few time sover the last year. Everytime i go in its the same attuide off the same lady. The can be rude at times and last time i walked out. Bar staff are slow to service and if your a regular than you get served first

Very good menu with plenty to choose from, quantity and quality of food is excellent with very good value for money and the staff are very polite and attentive

Been in here a lot of times to drink, but only a few times to eat. Very surprised it wasn't listed already as a restaurant/bar on Trip Advisor. Its a good, big (but not cavernous) sized bar which always has a good atmosphere. It faces the seafront, and the balcony offers great views of the beach/north sea. Sadly its a smoking terrace too but its not that bad (coming from someone who hates smoke). The drinks can be slightly pricey sometimes but they do have a good couple of happy hour offers, including a push the button game for a chance to win a free round etc. Ate there last week. Got half a roast chicken with veg and mash. Generous portion of mash, and liked the carrot and turnip slices. Only complaint was the broccolli was too hard. The chicken was very nice. Proper meat and hardly and icky gristle. Very hot too. My friend got sausages and cheesy mash which I had a taste of and was lovely. Another generous portion and got four very tasty sausages. Would recommend. Good bar, good ambience, and very good views, if you're willing to pay a bit more (not loads) for drink. A great place for observing the planes at Sunderland Airshow too.
