Found the chicken a little tough but the desserts were delicious

A bit disappointed that there were no Sunday roasts left! Apparently they’ve been busy! Also, neck oil. Where’s the neck oil! The meal was very good, though. And captain jack made sure we were taken care of. What was in the chocolate bomb? I can barely move! (It was good, I ate the whole thing!)

I hadn't been to the Quill and taper since it changed from the Blakes barn and what a joy it was to come back. Staff attentive, food absolutely lovely, live music (last Friday of every month) added to a really good night.

Visited for my Dads birthday as over the past two month this has become my favourite place. With fast & friendly service from Adam, lovely food and surroundings we all left happy & content with a promise to return again! Thanks to Adam & all the team- Lola,Nat & Lee.

It’s been our first ever visit although we live very near this establishment . Pleasant place with good food and good service. We were served by a lovely waiter called Alex. Thank you and keep up the good work :) , we will be returning.

We both had starters which were nice. My main course of fish and chips was also very nice, however there was a very small portion of chips. This spoilt the meal unfortunately for the sake of an extra handful of chips which would have added pennys to their costs. Our other main course was slightly overcooked. Total spend of £55 with a 30% off voucher. Probably won't go back again. Staff were pleasant and service was good. Having said that nobody came over to check that everything was OK.

Service very good. Only two complaints The main one is about excessive noise - the ceiling, being flat reflects everyone’s voices as do the walls. If noise baffles were fitted to the ceiling and some drapes ( or sound absorbing wallpaper) were fitted then it would be a much more pleasurable experience. As far as the food is concerned, in general quite satisfactory but the steak described as “melt in the mouth tender” was an affront to the English language; however, Oscar, my Miniature Schnauzer didn’t mind how tough it was. Two of our party had the same suit but the texture of one was quite hard whilst the other one was very much softer and better tasting.

I cannot fault the service I received from the point of booking right through to our experience on the day. Our booking was for a large group of 14 people to celebrate a family birthday. Adam looked after us from start to finish taking care to deliver the right meals to the right person and making sure we all had everything we needed. He responded to every request and had a really positive and friendly approach. The food was lovely (well done chefs) and no-one was left waiting so we could all eat together. They didn't mind that we had brought our own birthday cake for pudding and even found a candle for us (as I'd forgotten ours). Overall, the staff made our celebration very enjoyable (and stress free for the organiser, me!).

We had a lovely meal for my dad's 50th today. The waiters were absolutely amazing (shout out to Adam) and it was a lovely atmosphere to be in together for a special celebration.

What a fabulous meal had, Adams attention to detail was second to none. Nat and Lee, the chefs were absolutely fantastic, our Sunday lunch was delicious. We’ll definitely be back soon.

Took my 88 year mam (a wheelchair user) here for an impromptu Sunday Lunch. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating!! Adam found us a cosy corner and made sure we were well looked after. The food and drink was fabulous!! Thank you!!

Adam was wonderful from start the finish. Made sure we had everything we needed. Orders was taken quickly and food was served in perfect timing. We didn't need to leave the table once for anything. Disappointed there was only one roast option when we got there (4.30pm) Fish batter was hard and chips stuck together. Alys our waitress was superb very friendly and efficient.

Alys utterly made our experience for my partners birthday, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our faces were always smiling. Brilliant service, gorgeous food and a lovely welcoming vibe.

Having visited for the third time in about six weeks, the food service- thank you Sian and Gaz- and atmosphere was as good as ever.! A really good Sunday roast!!….and a mention for manager Cheryl who treated our poorly guest with warmth and attention.

Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. They do a great job. Personable and accommodating, they really do make an effort to ensure you have a lovely experience. Food was delicious and very hot. Good choice of traditional, and the not so traditional, meals. This inn had the vibes of being a quiet family pub deep in the countryside but is actually on the edge of a lovely housing development. We ate our meals, my daughter getting a cocktail courtesy of staff, as we were celebrating her well-earned graduation, and then retired to the delightful outside area where we had more cocktails. A nice touch is that they provide lovely thick blankets if it’s slightly chilly. Tables are well spaced, not at all cramped like many places are. Plenty of parking is available and Blake St train station is only a couple of minutes walk away. Surprisingly, we heard very very little of the trains, even whilst sitting outside. However, there are many trees and hedges which, whilst adding to the privacy and country feel, also serve to dampen possible engine noise I would thoroughly recommend this gem of a pub and fully intend to return. Thank you for making our night so enjoyable

We had an absolutely fantastic evening! If I’m honest this wouldn’t have been our first choice based on the quality of meals from before the refurb but the food exceeded our expectations massively, the service was top quality, AND there was live entertainment!

Alys went above and beyond, making our dinner excellent. Not only was she so lovely, she also made me feel included by bringing out gluten free bread with Humous even though it wasn't included in the starter set, when my family starter came out. Visited here for my graduation meal and I had an amazing meal with my parents. The server Sian was kind and polite when seating and taking our orders. The food was incredible everything from my starters to the main meal was beautifully prepared and Chef Lee who made it did an incredible job! Will definitely be coming back again!

Ordered two chicken and mushroom pies which were served refrigerated. The rest of the food was good and the pies were perfect after the second try. The bill came to £144 for everything and had the two pies refunded on there as 'customer complaint'. However when we came to pay we were told that was just for stock taking so we need to actually pay £177 even though the bill said £144. Seemed a bit odd but we paid up regardless. Seems a shame since the pies being changed delayed us quite a bit and I'd have given 5 stars if they'd had good customer service. Oh well.

Adam was amazing when we visited, he really understood my daughter’s diary requirements and made her feel good by relating to her, plus he worked with her on the best choices for her. Adam was very friendly and made sure everyone else was enjoying our meal also. He really is a credit to The Quill & Taper. Also compliments go out to Gaz, Lee, and Nat S. Great team 👍🏻 The only negative was the menu for kids for lacto intolerance is very limited.

The staff here are exceptional. We have just moved to the area and this pub is the nicest local we have ever had. The choice of food and drinks is huge! The seating areas are just perfect but as mentioned the biggest find is the warm welcome from the staff - we feel like regulars already! Quiz night was huge fun and we will definitely be back soon. 10 out of 10!!!

I Was greeted by Nat was very friendly and welcomed us to our table with a charismatic personality. Evelyn served us and was very helpful and seemed very happy to serve us. I was told Ryan was the chef and the food was amazing the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and everything else was amazing. Thankyou to the Quill And Taper team for a truly wonderful experience.

A lovely evening spent at The Quill & Taper, great selection of food and cooked very well by Ryan, the freshly cooked battered cod was splendid (and chips were very fluffy inside). A warm welcome from Nat was very nice compared to other places visited recently. Evelyn looked after us all evening, with such a lovely friendly way, and very prompt service. Will definitely be coming back.

Great meal as usual. Wait staff really helpful and the food was delicious. Shout out to the chefs Gaz, Lee and Nat S! We had a burger, a roast dinner and a couple of pies and all were lovely. Never had a bad meal here.

Regular Marston pub. Disappointed with the fact that when I ordered food on a fairly tight timescale as i had a wedding to attend the staff didn't inform me that they had staff problems which resulted in 30 minute delay on top of the usual cooking time in the food teaching us. The food when it reached us was hot and well presented.

Lovely lady short blonde hair v professional and fabulous service she was great and made the experience - the food was really nice we recommend. They listened to my request for a quiet spot perfect table this pub cares about people.

It's a nice place with credible food. I wouldn't call it high end food. Typical pub grub, on the higher price side. Bring your own atmosphere.

Busy, got the impression they were under staffed. At the end of the meal there were four tables waiting to pay their bills the waitress was now working in a different area, at least two people went and asked for the bill. We ordered an extra drink, it sat on the bar for over 5 minutes so went and got it myself, tried to make the barman aware of this but he was to busy chatting.

Good service and day menu was value for money. Staff was attentive and friendly. Nice place to go and eat.

The smallest portion size of any pub chain that I've visited. Go to the old Irish Harp instead. They give you a plate of chips instead of 10 to 12 in a bowl. Front of house woman isn't the friendliest of woman either. Don't try to open a tab if you are sitting outside, you'll be treated like a terrorist or thief. Will not try again.
