Great place to sit and enjoye a beverage awesome atmosphere a must visit indeed friendly staff and friendly people never had such a peacefully experience no body pushing and shoving no fighting just good wholesome time enjoyed for sure please take the time to visit the Bear and Staff you won't be let down at least I was not and I have a very high expectations

They donot do food in the pub anymore

Scary rough. Wasn't like it when it was my local. Had an edge like it could kick off at any moment. Ladies loos were nasty, one toilet blocked and the other had no seat.

We go to the Bear And Staff often. Paula and her team are fantastic, everything that they do is great from the afternoon bingo sessions with a quiz etc to the Friday night DJ. Always lovely people in the bear too. We look forward to seeing you all really soon.

Ok some of the clientele were very drunk and loud at 11.30 in the morning not the best impression. Also the outdoor area needed cleaning it looked like a large ashtray

This is a fabulous pub with mega friendly staff who are always polite to the customers. Great atmosphere and brilliant DJ . Every now and then there is a Caribbean BBQ which is excellent and good amount of choice with cocktails 🍸 I personally wouldn't choose to go anywhere else. The gaffer is doing a great job 👏

I came to watch the England euros final. What an amazing atmosphere in this pub! The bar was well staffed didn’t have to wait long to get a pint throughout the evening. Everyone was really friendly, will definitely be coming back here in the future!

Having previously been a regular in this pub it is so nice to see it back to its best once again. The pub itself looks so much more inviting, the atmosphere is great and the staff are brilliant the weekly discos are great fun as well as ‘Sunday funday bingo & karaoke . I hadn’t been to the bear and staff for a little while but went in to watch the footy. What a fantastic atmosphere there was on this pub. Very friendly and welcoming . The staff were all brilliant . So I would like to give a shout out to Paula and her team, they couldn’t have done anything better in my view . Keep up the good work , we will definitely be back

Seems a good place to have a drink unfortunately asked for a hot drink and no hot drinks are served here, young lady who served us served me but ignored my partner so he wasn't impressed and didn't buy a drink. Came out because we wanted a Sunday lunch but there's no advertisement of food here anymore, which is a shame. I like that it's dog friendly here though.

popped in for a quick drink about 4pm.. gin and tonic and cheese and onion crisps.. it was busy but I found a comfortable quiet corner

It was my first time coming here on Thursday but I will be back!! Only stopped off for a quick pint but I could have spent more time here. The fella who served us was lovely and he even gave me a bowl of water for my pup ☺️ can't comment on the food because they weren't serving it at the time. But I will be back to try a meal one weekend. Oh, and the place was lovely and clean! Will definitely be back soon, thank you!! ❤️

Sunday lunches here are brilliant value for money… as are the the crusty cobs, the staff all seem to love their jobs and the and the atmosphere behind the bar is fun and exciting

We had a brilliant Sunday afternoon with our children when we visited, we were made to feel so welcome by the landlords Paula and Andy and meg behind the bar. Great prices and a lovely atmosphere. We felt right at home and all the locals were friendly and chatty. The kids enjoyed a great game of pool and the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing! We are definitely revisiting for Sunday lunch .. we felt really relaxed and the time flew by, will definitely return for a night out without the kids as we were told by many that they were not to be missed!

We have visited the Bear and Staff a few times now since it has new management .. Andy Paula and all of their team are amazing . The pub has a great atmosphere and regular entertainment which is always great fun . They have a lot of regular local people go in there which adds to its friendly vibe . Visited this pub on the way to Barnt Green, was only stopping for 1 as was meeting friends , however, the Carling was to die for and the staff were just awesome so ended leaving at 11 a little bit weary I would say. Will definitely have a few pints there again

We went with friends for food and drinks on a wednesday night we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was a quiz night on it was a really great night and I highly reccomend the Bear Burger it was class and very reasonably priced

Great entertainment ranging from weekday pub quizzes to DJs and live singers/bands at the weekend. Food is fantastic and good value for money .. especially the 241 burger offers and Sunday lunches!

Had a great time at the new Quiz night the event was well organised and lots of fun we particularly enjoyed the wide variety of questions and the added bonus of ‘Play your cards right’ topped off a great evening. We all also took advantage of the great food offers of 2 for 1 Burgers, the quality was good and we can’t wait til next week!!!

Not a local but have been there several times, including New year's eve just a few days ago. The Landlord & Lady are extremely accommodating and friendly , as are the staff. The music is great 👍 and the atmosphere is what brings us back . I have taken other people there for a night out and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves . A great pub 😊.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with family. Roast beef with all the trimmings at a great price we we’re also given extra roasters and Yorkies at no extra cost!!! The bar staff were all very friendly and helpful we will definitely be back to try the new menu. Highly recommended

Used to use this pub years ago but it went massively downhill.. since Andy and Paula have been here I can’t praise it enough, the atmosphere has totally changed, the bar staff are happy, the customers are happy and there has been some brilliant events on! Can’t wait for reggae night this week … here’s to loving the bear and staff again!

The bear and staff has taken a massive turn since Andy and Paula took over the customers are alot happier and so are the staff there is now live music on a Friday and Saturday night most weekends

After just one week, Andy and Paula have truly turned this place around! The atmosphere is back to its friendly origins, the 80s night on Friday was amazing and everyone was made welcome. Here’s to making Selly Oak great again, well done, guys!

Great Tuesday open mic night. Despite the strange layout (a tall long table dominating the room) the pub itself was very friendly, with lovely staff and great beer. I think a few smaller tables would suit the room a lot better though.

The pub has a great atmosphere it is great for family's would highly recommend the place the food they serve is amazing home cooked by Helen all the staff a really friendly and helpful so if you get the chance I would pop in and check it out you could even make some new friends
