Very cute cafe in Queen’s Wood. Pastries and coffee were great but not worth the wait. Waited for an hour in line for 3 coffees and 2 pastries. Might’ve been busy because it was a sunny Sunday, would recommend going but on a less busy day!

This café is in a great location and serves possible slightly overpriced food. The problem is the wait time, which prevents it from being feasible for many people to use, even when it is not crowded. It seems to be staffed by well-intentioned but not very bright teenagers, I'm take ages to do anything. There is an absurdly complex tool, which was completely beyond the girl trying to operate it this morning resulting in her taking four minutes to input a very simple order. There never seems to be anyone in charge, the owners are presumably making quite a lot of money so they don't care. Under the old management it was a great community asset, sadly the present ones are destroying it.

Perfect for lunch in the middle of London. But you would never know it as it's set in Queens wood in Highgate. Oh such a find. Arrived with family group of 8 and were seated comfortably on the veranda as requested. Cosy seating with a blanket if knees get chilly nice touch. Food was very yummy we had amazing coffees and quiche with salad. Super fresh and home made salad was from their organic garden. For dessert we opted for carrot cake also home made. Atmosphere was very relaxing sitting chatting and listening to the sounds of nature. Beautiful view into the woods. Staff were lovely so very accommodating and efficient. Definitely recommend and wkll be back again very soon.

Primera vez en Queens Woods. Hermoso bosque antiguo.

Tan decepcionante.

A Russian friend told me that the cafe in Queens Wood, on the Eastward slope of Muswell Hill was very interesting, so I paid two visits with friends from different parts of Europe, the Islamic world and Africa -- intending in particular to compare the coffee with that prepared by the macho Italian guys, on the other side of Muswell Hill Road, in Highgate Wood. The women of Queen's Wood won hands down as we sipped on their verandah amidst the budding woods of May. On each occasion, our hosts enlightened us, first by explaining how the resurgence of vendetta in contemporary Albania is wrecking society and then, on our second visit, when Rosa explained the importance of Creole culture and racist tensions between Brazilian and Portuguese. Their food is home-made and delicious. London hides her secret in woods lovely, dark and deep....

I went with my husband and toddler for the first time and will definitely not be going back. My husband ordered the full English breakfast, which was stone cold. He complained and the chef came out took the breakfast and bought it back two minutes later and said she had heated it up under the grill, which meant the eggs were now hard and inedible. My cappuccino was cold and the eggs benedict sauce had split. My toddler had a pasta with tomato sauce and grated cheese which tasted nice but was also cold. We complained again but was just told they would pass the message on to the kitchen. Unbelievably bad response to a complaint and showed a complaint lack of customer care.

Firstly, let me explain: I am neither a troll, nor a local competing business, but a local parent who has been coming to this beautifully located cafe for more years than I care to remember, with my family and kids. The surroundings are glorious - nestled within Queen's Wood, with a lovely garden to the rear that customers can visit, which is where they grow some veggies too.We went to a children's birthday party here, about a year ago, and it was in the wooden cabin at the end of the garden. Also very idyllic. We used to visit the cafe, usually before a long walk around Highgate Woods, about once or twice a month, for a quick kids' meal and some of their great curry.Never had any problems, until recently:We arrived on a reasonably busy Saturday lunchtime, the waitress who normally always greeted us with a smile, looked very bad tempered and flustered. We sat outside under the awnings - all the tables were filthy and hadn't been wiped in a while. When we asked the owner, who is normally pleasant enough, if she would kindly give us something to wipe our table with - it was really dirty - she muttered something under her breath, gave it a cursory wipe with a dirty cloth and went off in a huff. We had asked politely - we always do and she knows us, at least in passing. We were rather taken aback. It got worse. The normally nice waitress arrived with our veggie curry and drinks, with a face on her that didn't bode well - she had spilt some of the mango chutney over the sides of the glasses, and had her finger stuck down the centre of one glass to stop it falling...my husband was checking a text on his mobile as she approached our and just because he didn't immediately acknowledge her presence (I had - and had thanked her for bringing our food - I always do) she scowled at the back of him practically threw our food down on to the (slightly less filthy) table. Our glasses were smeared and the curry was almost coming off the side of the plate. The time before we had visited, it had been marginally better (still very dirty tables and no one clearing them fast enough for the busy times) and slightly grumpier staff than usual. We also came here in the past few months and had some rather below par kids meals - rather strange sludgy brown pesto pasta and burnt pizza - but again, the adult food was good and so we put it down to a bad day and cut them some slack (that is what you do when you like a place). We had hoped that had been a bad day - a one-off, but to reiterate another local, regular, it really seems that this place has taken full advantage of their great location and previous popularity, and now become rather sloppy, rude and forgettable.I am unfailingly polite and appreciative of good service, in any cafe or restaurant (having also worked in a service industry in the past) and I can tell you that I do not appreciate rudeness, particularly when it is unsolicited. There are enough good cafes', with regularly friendly staff, that I don't need to come back to this place any more.Unless you like Faulty Tower-esque behaviour, filthy tables and lashings of bad attitude, of course! So there you go - a totally unbiased, honest and unrolling review - just in case anybody was wondering.

We visited the Queen's Wood Café yesterday afternoon after walking through Crouch End and up through Queen's Wood to head home via the Parkland Walk. The owner/manager has posted a notice in the café about fake/'malicious online reviews' and I wanted to make it clear that this is an honest review of the Queen's Wood Café. I hope the owner/manager is able to listen to this feedback and make the simple changes necessary to avoid another customer having a similarly poor experience of the café.We popped into the café hoping to be able to sit down and enjoy a hot drink. Upon arrival at the counter we were greeted in a not unfriendly, but not welcoming, manner by the lady serving. We decided to order two hot chocolates. The server set about making them and responded to our attempts to make conversation with her. She said that because the café would be closing shortly we'd have to have our drinks in take away cups – we responded that this was alright with us. Cue a few scoops of chocolate powder and a slug of hot milk – just as the server was about to put lids on our drinks without having stirred the powder into the milk I asked for a spoon or a stirrer to mix the drinks up with and the server grabbed a dirty teaspoon that was sitting on the coffee machine and threw it into one of our hot chocolates. We then sat down on one of the many dirty and uncleared tables to drink our very average hot chocolates wishing we hadn't bothered. The ambience of the room was very dark and wasn't helped by loud classical music being played. We did find it quite funny that the ride of the Valkyries was being played just as our hot chocolates were served up to us – very fitting.I don't mind paying £2.50 for a hot chocolate. I quite enjoy stopping for a hot drink whilst out for a walk. I like to choose to support local businesses. But the lack of customer service at the Queen's Wood Café yesterday left us feeling like we would be very, very reluctant to return there again anytime soon.

They have an organic garden at the back which has won competitions every year and the porch, where you can sit on clement days, is beautifully situated. Children are very welcome and there's a dog bowl outside for your thirsty pooch. I am puzzled by some earlier comments as they mention things like a bar room, which this cafe doesn't have and ice-cream and 'pesto out of a jar', neither of which is served there. They only do fresh food, most of it from the organic garden.I really would recommend this as a friendly and wholesome cafe for all the family.

The cafe sells wonderful greetings cards featuring photographs of the woods by a local (I presume) photographer. But in all the time I have been coming here, I don't think I have once been greeted as I walk into the cafe or been proactively asked what I would like to order. Having walked past this a number of times, and it looked cute and welcoming, had been looking forward to a visit finally. Went recently with a group of mum-friends and our babies, we were the only customers and sat on the covered outside space. Short, but decent sounding, menu. BUT that's where the positives ended. Two friends had the carrot cake, apparently acceptable but not great. I had the crumble and custard. It was inedible, tasted weirdly farm-y, the whole group agreed. I'm really not fussy. Such a disappointment, not my first crumble of autumn! I took it back, nicely explained why it wasn't eaten. The staff member took a spoonful, and shrugged and said maybe it was because of the rhubarb (it was advertised as apple) and that was that. We won't be returning. Additionally a group of children popped in just to use the loo. Random. Bit more Hansel and Gretel than fairy tale... (oh, and yes, a number of the other reviews are for the Pavilion Cafe, over nearer the A1 - that's great. Tasty, nice staff... the same group has been there twice since we went here).

Beautifull setting. Used to be such a lovely cafe about 5 years ago. We stopped attemting to eat there as the service became so bad. Yesterday the garden was almost empty of customers when we went in for ice cream and coffee (during half term). Could not get ice cream that the child wanted and there was no decaffe either. The ice cream box was pretty much on the empty side. We left. I would not attempt to eat there unless I hear of some dramatic changeover. The bar room where you place orders and pay had a table stacked full with dirty dishes which was disgusting.

Great pub, Great drink selection, Great crowd and Great Atmosphere… the only downside was the barman… Big guy, dark skin, I believe his name was Paul… made weird comments towards us and constantly looked at us with strange eye contact throughout the evening… I don’t know if he was drunk or what but he wouldn’t leave us alone and made our experience so uncomfortable we had to leave just to get away from him and even as we tried to exit he then tried to get our personal contact information… such a weird strange man… I wouldn’t come back here if I see him working… otherwise it’s great place to be

No volvería, no recomendaría.

The worst service I have ever received, I got a terrible coffee from a friend who works alone and is not a barista. I am making this comment in front of the door… Wherever I am in the world, I prefer Costa coffee, but this takes all the pleasure out of me and I become Aticak instead of drinking this coffee.
