We have been visiting this village pub for many months now as they make you feel so welcome and their food is excellent! Sunday Lunches are wonderful! Service is great too! Thanks to all - particularly Shaz ,Charlee ,Leanne and Bailey the PubDog !

A pub with a homely family feel. We are regularly visitors with our children on a Sunday afternoon, the landlady (Shaz) always makes our children feel welcome and us too! A wide selection of drinks and a small homemade menu which has something for every appetite and dietary requirement. The pub has a pool table inside and various games and colouring activities for the children. During the summer months the beer garden is open with a small children playhouse and many different garden toys for them to use. Would definitely recommend this pub and its amazing atmosphere!

We love this place!! Popped in Sunday afternoon and the wonderful owners even asked if our dog would like a Sunday dinner. Absolutely beaut. Always welcoming and friendly with our family. Thank you! X

Always greeted with a warm welcome. A choice of mulled wines and the men said the Hobgoblin beer was good!

This place is fantastic. The staff and customers are so welcoming, it's always a laugh while you're there. The food and drinks are great, and reasonably priced. They welcome families and dogs too. There's a large outside area and plenty of parking. And always something going on, it's never a dull moment!

Had my husbands birthday and retirement party there, can't fault the service, food and pub. It was fantastic would definitely recommend it. Very friendly staff always willing to help you.

A great village pub, really friendly locals and a fantastic staff, all very dog-friendly. Large inside, a good car park and a lovely garden - always with something on to entertain the family. There’s a pool table and regular entertainment, always a good night but especially at the weekend. The beers are brilliant and the menu has something for everyone.

We called in for lunch earlier today. Very friendly welcome, and a good atmosphere. The menu consists of basic, but good, food. We had starters of breaded mushrooms, and the buttermilk chicken strips, which were superb, then my partner had the hunters chicken, and I asked for the kids meal of fish fingers, mashed potatoes, and beans! (I did ask for a bit extra, as I am grown up, but that was just what I fancied!)The two meals were both very well cooked. Even my simple meal can still be messed up by the wrong person, but no. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. The staff were brilliant, friendly and attentive. I love the little touches in the loos! The provisions for children and babies, and the smellies for the ladies (and gents, according to my partner!)All in all, a very enjoyable visit, and if we're in the area again, we'll make a point of going back. Having enjoyed a group lunch at The Queens Head in January, we booked a table for Sunday lunch for three adults and two children (5 & 2). Despite having to wait a while for our meals, we felt at ease as no-one seemed perturbed by the children playing around the pool table. During our wait, staff graciously handed red roses to the ladies, helium filled heart shaped balloons to the children and finally air filled balloons.Our beef and chicken roasts were really tasty - the children enjoyed their mains and deserts very much. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff (extra plates, cutlery, etc). Many thanks...The biggest surprise was the bill - extremely good value! We will be back...

We both enjoyed a tuna melt baguette with chips, salad and a portion of onions which was delicious. We also tried a cask real ale which was smooth and the seating area was comfortable in a clean and welcoming environment. I would recommend it due to the choice of food matching various budgets.

Visited on a lovely warm afternoon for a drink in the beer garden. This pub has recently been taken over by a new landlady and appears to be doing well . It is a village pub operated by a brewery. It served good priced beer and cheap but good food. Hoping the new staff do well.We enjoyed our visit.

My friend and I met with our dogs at Sence Valley and wanted to go somewhere nearby for lunch. After having a search on google I found this place which is a 4 min drive. The dogs were made welcome which was part of our criteria. We ordered baguettes from the menu. They came with salad (chips was an option) and they cost less than £4. They were warm (not the filling) and lovely. We had some cheesy chips too! This with two soft drinks and lunch for two people was £13! Bargain! Decent quality and we were served promptly. Not sure about the other stuff on the menu but it was just what we wanted. We will call again when walking. Parking is plentiful and there’s some outside climbing frames if you’re taking children.

Visited here for lunchtime food and drink on a recommendation of a friend.This a best value pub we have visited. It is a nice cosy inside with very friendly staffs and locals.Food was very good, tasty and very reasonably priced.Choice of Ales was limited but all beers on offer were also very reasonably priced.It has car park and outside seating and pool table.I would highly recommend this place.

We visited for my wife’s birthday and met family there after a walk with the dog around Sence Valley Park. Having booked a table for 8, we turned up as 9 and this was no problem. The service was friendly by all staff and the dog was made welcome with a bowl of water. The menu was just what we were after (hearty pub food) following a couple of hours walking and great value, including the wine list. Without asking, the chef offered to cook my father-in-law’s steak for longer as she overheard a conversation about how he likes his meat cooked (we were not complaining as the food looked and tasted delicious). The pub itself is nicely decorated and has a really relaxed and friendly feel to it. We could have stayed longer but unfortunately needed to leave. Highly recommended and will definitely go back.

Our walking group returned here for a Christmas meal. It was great value, served on time lovely staff. A good time was had by all thanks very much.

Our U3A walking group had lunch here today. We were impressed both with the quality and price of the food - there was a very comprehensive menu to choose from. The staff were friendly and we were made to feel welcome.

As a member of a Ramblers group I have visited over 130 pubs in Leicestershire for lunch at the end of our morning rambles over the past ten years, and I must say this is one of the very best we have visited. The ambience is excellent and comfortable, but above all the food is delicious and excellent value for money. Not a huge choice on the menu, but with ham egg and chips for £3.75, fish and chips under a fiver, and meals like steak pie, lasagne, and a huge chicken and bacon salad all at around the £5 - £6 mark, this must be one of the best value pubs around. There were around twenty of us, we pre-booked the meals at 10am, and they were all served promptly at the appointed time of 1pm - no waiting around .This is a real gem of a pub for ramblers or anyone just wanting a good tasty meal at lunch-time at a very reasonable price.

We had a lovely meal at the Queens Head, the staff were helpful and friendly, the pub is Dog Friendly, ours settled down under the table after tucking into the bowl of water bought for them by the staff (So nice for Bar Staff to think of the dogs) the food was gorgeous, and very reasonably priced. The Pasta was lovely, everyone else said theirs was nice too and Kids Menu was spot on. Made a lovely stop off from the Scarecrow Trail, will be back again soon. The staff in a pub make the experience, and the Sunday staff here were just perfect checking you are happy with the meal, and nothing too much trouble.

Called in here for an impromptu drink with our son and daughter in law and our 3 grandchildren , after a lovely afternoon strawberry picking just around the corner , wish we had spent our money elsewhere , the service from the young barmaid was awful to say the least , not 1 comment of chat whatsoever , ordered several drinks and snacks and a water as our grandson only drinks water , don't ask for water here ! As we got a rude glare , so when we asked for ice in the water , then came a second glare , we then asked for a tray to carry the drinks to the garden , and then came the tut ! , we can put up with young rude bar staff and we would have said nothing on trip advisor , but when the older barmaid or licencee came to our table to collect our glasses , we were greeted with an even more prolonged stare and no chat wotsoever , we really fancied another drink but we promptly left and went elsewhere , clearly this is a locals pub only !! We will not frequent this place again ,,

We are moving out of the village soon, we have lived here for many years and have found that there is a 50% success as to whether there is food being served of not. Usually they have run out, on a select menu or different service times so phone ahead. Customer service could be improved I feel more of a chore to serve than a welcomed guest.

This is the one pub I gladly take my family and friends to visit. It is exceptionally good value and so much so I don't know how they do it. They are pedantic about keeping the place immaculate and the service is both personal and professional. As a local I'm proud to take people here, whether that be for business, a chat with friends or with my wife. Sometimes I go round just on my own for a dinner. They are consistent in both their level of service and standards, the ale is spot on too.

We have been a few times to their Tuesday night curry with drink . Amazing value at less that £5. But be warned ring first it does get overbooked. They serve great ale and the pub has a good atmosphere. We are going to try their grill night on Thursday. 10oz gammon with a drink,for about £5!!! Or Sirloin steak £7.10 both with a drink.

I couldn't believe it - £4.95 for a curry AND a drink!! I've now tried it 3 times and it is amazing value and consistent quality. So far I have had the Beef Madras, the Chicken Jalfrezi, and the Chicken Tikka Masala. All were equally good - the meal comes with a popadom and a naan, and choice of rice or chips, and there is a vegetarian option too. As you can imagine, it is very popular so best to book a table (01530 260087)

I'm part of a band who played here recently as part of the annual Heather Music Festival. What a lovely pub! It was very busy due to the village music festival, but we were served promptly and by friendly staff. Very good value drinks, and the real ale was very well kept.

This little gem is hidden away in the small Leicestershire village of Heather.

Atmosphere is always good and the new Grill night on a Thursday is terrific value. An 8oz Sirloin steak and a glass of house wine for £7.10, cheaper than eating at home.We will return.

18 of us went here for a mid-week lunch after a local walk. We had pre-ordered but our likely arrival time back to the pub was slightly vague. There was a good choice of drinks available with, I think, 4 real ales on offer and inexpensive.
