Too long wait to get undercooked eggs - perhaps the cook didn't hear the order over the loud music. The efficient waitress gave me a complimentary coffee to compensate. It was a busy morn ... I wasted my time here. Nice coffee tho and interesting menu, potential maybe on a good day

Gammon and cheese toastie, wow, cheese not cooked or melted, meat was thin sliced ham, also not cooked or hot, bread wan nice and all for £11.00 for a take away with chips and coleslaw

Gone right down food was no where near as good as it was we were told they only use top quality products absolutely wrong the chef didn't look like he cares about what he's produced. we had taken friends after telling them how good it was and felt guilty after we had taken them to queen's café the owner needs to realise they used to have people queuing out the doors not any more it's a shame we won't be going again

Great breakfast menu and some different dishes to the norm. Food and service were excellent and a Bloody Mary for breakfast is always a great start to the day.

The food was really good, but the portion was quite small for the price.

The wrong food was served which wasn't an issue as the right thing was brought over after it was pointed out, however as the wrong thing had been been previously brought over we reiterated our order (not in a rude way) which was met with a snappy "I only have 2 hands" which was uncalled for. The price was good but the food was mediocre at best.

Nice little breakfast spot. Not the best ambience though, feels like you're cramped into a sardine can. I'd recommend the carrot cake, you get a decent sized slice for the price

No service Bad food, ordered a parmesan rosemary fries but there is NO parmesan rosemary on it.

A local treasure - only wish I could get here more. Amazing location, great service, solid food and a bit of House Music with your Full English - what more could you ask for? Surprised it wasn't much busier.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here. My partner ordered a panini specifying that he didn't want 3 ingredients includes. I actually told the waitress this 3 times when ordering. ood arrived with one of the ingredients that had been asked to be without and added red onion that wasn't listed on the menu. We politely said sorry but we ordered this without coleslaw and we didn't ask for red onion. She took it back then proceeded to return it with the receipt saying what we had asked to be removed. I politely said I'm sorry but we didn't ask for onion and it wasn't on the menu so please may it be removed and you have also put on slaw which we didn't want. We then waited a very very long time for the order almost to the point that they were trying to prove a point. My dinner was at this point cold so I was unable to actually eat it with my partner. Disappointed is an understatement as my partner had visited often and was excited to bring me here.

Very underwhelming . The coffee was mediocre. It’s a pity as the location is amazing . When I noticed the chairs were being stacked on the tables I asked “excuse me when do you close? “ I was met with a curt NOW . I hope this cafe can merit the location one day and improves

The staff don't know what's on their menu, got our order wrong twice, the food is pre-cooked ages before you order it and then slapped together (and doesn't reflect whats on the menu), so don't expect hot or fresh, and I found a hair in my sandwich. Plus if you sit downstairs you get treated to Christmas lights blinking aggressively. Stay far away.

A hot mess of a cafe. All day breakfast is an apt description, as it looked like it had been sat underneath a hotplate for a good few hours. We ordered a sandwich that they decided to put on different bread without asking us, but the other sandwich was a dumpster fire. Brought the wrong order first, and the 'correct' sandwich was a cold, slap-dash effort with a hair in it. Don't bother unless you like spending money on things that you could do much better at home.

Had a Bacon and Sausage sandwich for breakfast, very good.

I visited this brunch spot with a group of friends, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience from start to finish. Despite being promised a chair for our table, we were left waiting for ages and eventually had to get it ourselves after being told to "just grab one." Not exactly a good start. One of my friends was served burnt toast, and another received her meal with the wrong type of bread—not the sourdough that was listed on the menu. On top of that, they placed our food down on the table, but we had no cutlery. We had to wait, trying to get their attention, while our food went cold. The biggest issue came when my friend's eggs were served without any yolk. She politely asked if they could replace it, but nothing happened. After asking again, halfway through her meal, the waitress rudely responded that my friend had already eaten the eggs, which wasn’t true, and then completely ignored us. When another friend asked for help with recommendations or possible changes to her order, she was met with a dismissive, "get out of the queue and read the menu." The level of customer service was shockingly bad. I understand they may have been busy, but the attitude and treatment we received were inexcusable. We tried to give feedback, but they were rude and dismissive at every turn. This is not how customers should be treated, and I definitely won’t be returning. Neither will my friends.

Do not go here, 33 years old and have never experienced being shouted at or the level of disrespect as a customer in my entire life anywhere. Started off by asking if we could get an additional chair, the man (who was apparently the manager) said he’d get me one but after 5-10mins it hadn’t materialised, so I asked again and was told to get my own. Fine, fair enough and didn’t think much more about it. I then went to order and as there was a few good sounding options, asked for what the manager would recommend. He told me to read the menu and no swaps were allowed and scoffed when I asked for a sausage instead of black pudding. At this point I started to think he had a bit of an attitude problem and sensed this underlying issue. My friends poached eggs and avocado arrived however where on the menu it said sourdough, it definitely wasn’t and when it was queried, was told there is none. She then had no cutlery to eat and again when we prompted for some, was met with some attitude and a wait to get any. The rest of our food then arrived and I’d ordered eggs Benedict. I started on one half and went to pop the second but realised there was no yolk at all in one of the eggs so decided to point this out and ask for another egg on the side. Was told I’d get it right away however I carried on eating and the egg didn’t appear. I then chased it up about 5 mins later with a separate girl and she said she’d come back but I saw her start on doing something else entirely. At this point I was very disappointed with the whole experience however things took a turn for the worse when I went up to the counter to chase up and speak to the girl. Immediately she turned on me, started shouting unprovoked by me and told me I’d already eaten the egg and couldn’t complain now. This was a blatant lie as I hadn’t and had shown the manager early on there was no yolk in the egg. I’ve never been spoken to by anyone the way this girl did. She was angry and nasty and shouldn’t be employed in a customer facing role. Someone else had to take over and said she’d speak to the manager. He then swiftly arrived and said he’d bring the egg over but by this point it wasn’t redeemable in any way. I pointed out how rude the girl had been and how shocking the service is just received was and he didn’t care at all advising they were busy and I’d been “nitpicking”. In fact it was the opposite and just asking for basics like cutlery… He then suggested I sit down, finish my food and leave. Basic food and diabolical service. Unfortunately this was my first experience of Newcastle and I’ve only ever heard people are supposed to be so friendly there however sadly the staff at this establishment are letting you down, Newcastle.

Decent food and friendly staff but there is a lot of room for emprovement , especially on the hygiene, as half of the ‘clean ‘ cutlery they brought had leftovers from previous customers on.

Tasteless coffee. Caramel shortbread was tiny and dry. The chocolate cake was like a frozen cake that had been left out for two weeks. The whole place looks grubby an in need of a clean.

Worst Caesar salad I've ever had. Stale chicken, awful sauce, anchovies were off. The chips that others ordered were cold, and tasted like the fryer needed a good clean.

Wasn’t to happy with this, brekki was greasy and cold.. glasses where dirty, nice spot to sit but didn’t eat the food.. wast of £30

Food not hot ,couldn't swap black pudding for an egg tea was stewed we looked forward to visiting but won't recommend it to friends and family ,first and last experience never again Iangie

Only had a coffee (flat white) but it was terrible - tasted like milky water. Location under the bridge is a redeeming feature.

I got the smashed avocado on toast and it was absolutely DELISH. Highly recommend this place for a cheap and cheerful breakfast

Garbage coffee it was mostly water, tea cup and pot were not clean. Kings Brekky was alright but the eggs were over cooked and you have no choice on the way they cook them. Florentine Eggs were over cooked and the muffins were dry. Service seemed depressed also.

Great for breakfast. unpretentious, efficient service, tasty unmessed-about-with and good-value food, and opening nice and early. Being going there for years, when I visit Newcastle. Usually easy to park in side streets at breakfast - though parking expensive, as its quayside

Took 15 minutes just to get a coffee. Waiting staff kept forgetting about it and the inside of the cafe was freezing cold.

Breakfast bun was absolutely the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in years. Value, service and quality was on point. Would highly recommend.

Popped in for a breakfast one morning, staff we're unfriendly but acted like they'd rather be anywhere else and by taking my business, they were doing me a favour. Food was not good, been sat there for a while, coffee worse, left most of it. Won't be going back which is a shame as its a great location.

Ok so the breakfast bap was good and the coffee was ok, and I wouldn’t describe the staff as unfriendly but it didn’t deserve a five stars. Also, he overcharged me, which is why service gets 1 start, although to be fair did refund the difference. I won’t be back- shame as it is a local and independent cafe. Oh and he tried to charge me £1 extra for oat milk- not good for those of us with with dairy allergy

A nice, little "greasy spoon" which does decent breakfasts at a reasonable price. The only downfall was the weak coffee.

Snotty eggs and 1 little butter for two pieces of cold toast at nearly the same price as a full breakfast. I didn't think the service was great and didn't really feel welcomed. Shame really.

Visited the No1 Queen street cafe today and would defo recommend. We had breakfast sandwiches and would recommend them good portion size, tasty and food was hot. Alongside this we also had home made biscoff cheesecake. They’ve also launched new menus to when a last visited a while back and have a lot more exciting stuff on. Staff were lovely and really welcoming would defo recommend visiting will defo be back.

About average - cold toast and not even buttered for poached eggs in toast. Had to ask multiple times for more butter. I wouldn't return.

Ordered a fry up and sausage and egg sandwich for myself and my wife plus 2 drinks and a scone. The sarnie and scone came out after about 10 minutes and I waited 15+ minutes expecting my wife's food and our drinks to be out any moment. When I finally got fed up and queried about it the fella said someone had cocked up and not sorted our order even though i had watched the ticket being written as I paid. Food was mediocre at best, hard overdone bacon and lukewarm hard beans. my sandwich was cold from waiting about 20 minutes for my wifes food to turn up, it wasn't the worst but obviously also wasn't the best I've had either. the only saving grace was the cherry and sultana scone, that was quite nice but even that couldn't tempt me back. Cafe is not easily accessible for disabled/mobility challenged like myself, there are steps to get up into it and as the walkways from the door to the till are quite tight it could be difficult to navigate. Toilets are also down a flight of stairs.

Been in here several times as they do a decent sandwich at good reasonable price. However that's all you get if they will serve you. My daughter came to meet us for coffee and she was told you can't have a drink unless you eat. Not the most welcoming place. The staff do seem very unhappy in their work and on all occasions we have been its been an anxious time not a relaxing Sunday morning stroll and nice cupper and breakfast sarnie. Arguing between the staff and banging and crashing of dishes. Shame really. Nicer places to spend your money with a much warmer welcome.

Great little find for a proper breakfast. I had excellent porridge with warmed milk and honey on the side; hubby opted for a full brekky, personalised to his taste. Large pot of tea - lovely. Lots of builders in so proof of the quality.

Went for breakfast this morning I got the belly buster my partner the queen's breakfast both served with quality produce piping hot and the lovely lady who served us was polite and very kind. I'd already paid for our food but wanted to take a drink away with me but only had my card, the lady said minimum of 5 pound transaction and said just take it its on me. luckily my partner had some change in the end but it was a lovely gesture.

Wow, food was AMAZING and staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The Eggs “Benny” are out of this world! Thank you ❤️

Lovely few mornings breakfast in this cafe make my morning good start

Quiant little cafe I must have walked past a million times ( so you probably have too) ..sitting under the north side of the tyne bridge on the corner of Queen St. We had the belly buster" breakfast and a bacon and sausage sandwich and a pot of tea for 2... it filled up nicely for a Sunday with joggers and locals taking a break from the market ....toilets downstairs and a rather nice hidden " snug" ... food was well cooked as some places can manage to messs up a breakfast but this was good ( maybe a few more beans tho as it dried up a little ) .... now we know its there well definitely be back

This place is just too small. Their tables are too big for the room with too many chairs situated around each one. If you get the option don't sit at either table by the door for obvious reasons. Staff were nice enough - Bacon on toast - average - coffee good! Overpriced - yes.

Builders caff. Proper scran for workies and stag dos alike. October 2023 Update - We were back in Newcastle and in the area - came back to this cafe for some breakfast goods before heading onwards. It was as good now as it was back when we last visited. Superbly busy for the time of year/ season. Top notch hangover breakfast goods to be had here - far superior produce here than at a nearby Greggs, plus you can get a seat and a steaming cup of tea too. If you are nearby - visit this cafe for honest to goodness british cafe breakfast or lunch.

Only had a coffee, but it was surprisingly good! Usually an americano tasted like a bag of coffee was held in front of the water - it's that weak! But this place sells proper tasting coffee!👍🏻

I went with my wife Sunday morning to meet our daughter. We arrived first, took a small three seat table by the door. While at the counter reading menu on the wall a slightly larger (Square) three seat became vacant, I indicated to wife to move over, as we hadn’t ordered and I hadn’t sat down. I was curtly told by lady behind the counter, “You can’t sit there I’ve got people waiting, that’s for three.” I pointed out my daughter was just walking down from the station and both tables had three chairs. “Well, if she’s not here yet you can’t sit there.” We took our custom across the road where the menu was better and staff polite…it was a ‘no brainer’.

Great service, very quick and nice food. Staff are great and gave our dog Alan free sausages while we had our breakfast. Thank you.

Great food, great staff, great service, if the place was twice the size, they would still fill it.

Fantastic café on the underside of the Tyne Bridge. If you're lucky enough to get a spot outside, it's a lovely place to grab some brunch. Staff are friendly and you can even bring your dogs and they'll get some doggy treats.

Hier überzeugt besonders die gute Organisation und das gute Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Neben dem. Klassiker werden hier einige Alternativen und Varianten angeboten. So findet sicher auch der Vegetarier etwas - der Veganer sollte sich hingegen ein anderes Lokal suchen. Auf kleinsten Raum wird hier viel geleistet.

Brilliant cafe, staff there are so friendly and welcoming. They are happy to modify your breakfast choices, prices are cheap and reasonable. Food itself is really nice. Highly recommend it.

Possibly one of the worst breakfasts I have had, won't be back. Customers standing over you when you eat. Fried eggs where hard boiled pretty much. Food was tasteless, I couldn't point out a positive.

1st time we went they where amazing 2nd time food still great but service wasn't very welcoming they where busy managed to get a seat friend ordered first and had tea and tea cake and asked if that was all she was having and to sit outside which no space at the time I then said I am with her and ordering a breakfast. Money is money at the end of the day. I would return but please dnt do this again as wasn't very welcoming

Could not order a cup of tea whilst i was waiting for people to join me for breakfast… I had to order food to warrant a tea. Absolutely con. Typical Karen like service from a greasy food set up. I recommend over the road for a pleasant experience.

Great wee cafe under the bridge at Newcastle. Beautiful interior and all the usual breakfast staples available as well as a decent coffee. Nice spot to enjoy breakfast and watch the world go by.
