I came across this place while looking for a place to have dinner, I didn't want to get too far away from my hotel in Sussex Gardens so this was perfect, just a couple of streets away. I don't mind a bite of oriental food every now and then, so I thought I could give this place a try. Eating out by yourself, as a female, can be awkward but I am used to it, however I was made to feel very welcome. I seem to remember I order tabuli salad, however they must hvae mixed up my order, I was given something completely different. I made the waiter aware of this and was then given the food I had ordered. The salad was lovely and it was a big enough portion size. I will certainly go back to this place when I am in the area again.

We were looking for something a bit different for dinner. I ordered the Chicken Aqda which was to com with rice and bread. My wife had Shish Tawook with tabuli salad. The food was good. The bread is huge but they put my rice on my wife’s plate. Our canned soft drinks were delivered without glasses As others have noted, service is terrible. We were seated, given menus and ignored. One of the staff stood by arms folded as if no one was in the restaurant. Finally as my wife put on her coat to leave Someone else came to take our order.

I have spent time working in the Middle East, particularly the south of Saudi Arabia near the border of Yemen, and my wife is Yemeni. I feel this qualifies me to fairly review the food here. You will not find more authentic Yemeni food in London, period. We ordered the Mendi, mugalgal (stew) and hummus with traditional Yemeni bread. The food came promptly and with a smile. It tasted incredibly fresh (the bread came out piping hot) and the mugalgal was served in a pot that demonstrated it was cooked in the authentic way. The lamb was tender and moist, and the flavouring on the rice was exceptional. We were asked twice if everything was okay with the meal, and served complimentary tea. They bring both the food and the hospitality of Yemen to London. Must visit!

Went to Queen of Sheba for my younger brothers birthday and really enjoyed the food, service and interior decor! We ordered the mendhi lahm (slow cooked lamb) which was flavourful, tender and literally slid off the bone! Our server Rayan was very polite and really treated us like family. The decor inside was very well put together making us feel like we were transported to the Middle East during our visit. Highly recommend !

This is Yemeni cuisine, not the sort of thing you come across often.Huge portions, reasonably priced and excellent service (the middle eastern chap and the east European lady, I think). Nothing was too much trouble for them.We ordered soup and starters, then different sorts of meats and chicken that we shared. The portions were quite large, so ordering soup and starters was probably a mistake! The price was also reasonable for London

The food was excellent and very tasty and the portions were a huge enough to feed two people .The only thing that was a disappointment was the lack of service .the waiter who greeted the thin guy with the beard did not speak English very well and told us when we walked in to “sit there “ .we did not see him for another 10 minutes even though the restaurant was empty .he walk passed and we had to usher him over to take our order which we had to point out on the menu . We ordered the starter and main course at the same time clearly telling him about the starters first .he bought all the food at the same time with no plates or cutlery on the table .we had to call him back for that as well .My wife asked him for a cafe latte 3 times which never came until the boss of the restaurant came over to ask us how our food was and he personally bought over the coffee and apologised. This place is a hidden gem with fab food however the staff need some training in customer service .

Chicken was good as well are the portion sizes. However there was one area of contention in that the lamb was dry and when this was mentioned there was really no recourse and given the limited number of covers currently you would think they would care a little more. ran into this arabic restaurant to escape the shower after performing Friday prayers at the Masjid Salahuddin nearby. Ordered lamb soup and hot honey lemon drink. The soup came with a huge lamb drumstick sticking out invitingly. Savoured the hot soup first, its flavour attacking my tastebud which asked for more. Dived into the meat, separating the morsel from the bone as it came off obediently to the carving of the fork. The meat was so tender i thought this must be a baby lamb; conscience sufficiently assuaged that the word baby is just a fancy word for young (dont want to be accused of infanticide!). It was a delectable meal, hot soup and hot drink that brought warmth and satisfaction to me tummy. Excellent!

I'm a regular (well twice a year 'cause I like to visit all Ethiopian restaurants in London) and have 'til now considered it one of London's best. So I invited friends along a few evenings back and booked ahead, confident that they'd have good food and a nice experience. They forgot to record my booking however but it didn't seem to matter: there was space for us. We ordered beers and a mixed platter (meat, veg, pulses) for 2-3 and had loads, even if it contained two portions of chicken. Our need for extra Injera was anticipated before we needed to ask for more. But the food wasn't as tasty/spicy as previously and the injera was too bland. To be honest it was all a bit too tame for my liking. My friends enjoyed it however. Guess it's a taste thing.

The humus could have done with a little more oil and the bread was not included but another £3.50! , I ordered buried Mandi (lamb), I know my Arabic food, the meat was soft and the portion size good but the rice was dry and could have done with more oil/ butter. I tried to engage in conversation with the staff but they were indifferent and couldn't be bothered which was very sad. Food was alright, not great but since it was recommended by our close friend - we thought why not try it. The mandi lamb was really bland but assumed that's how it actually taste in Yemen (maybe). As we were the first to come into the shop when it opens, immediately you can see that the waiter seems so reluctant to serve us. Throughout the experience, it's like we have to be the one who's got to be friendly to request for the order or the bills when it should be the other way around and I wonder who is the customer. My last straw was that after the meal, and we want to pay using the card - he said that they don't accept card when it's clear signage on the door. Would expect him to tell us earlier and luckily we have enough cash to pay the bill. Upsetting and I would definitely not come back for that kind of services.

I had not had Ethiopian food before so was quite intrigued by this place - hence the visit. We were not disappointed!Pricewise we thought it was very reasonable and definitely worth what we paid.

I was craving some Ethiopian food and after some serious research decided to try this place out ! I have to say I was not disappointed. The decor and service and mainly the food and beer choices really reminded me of being back in the eastern horn of Africa! Friendly staff just wave to grab their attention and I would recommend going in a mid size group! The interior is small so if you are in in a big group you will probably have to sit slightly separately but its small enough for all of you to chat away.

What's good?- Halal- Wide selection of food in the menu- Reasonably priced - husband and I went there and got Turkish coffee, two Lipton teas with fresh mint, Yemeni bread, two mince lamb skewers with rice and fried aubergine with garlic and onions, fattat mouaz (like a bread and butter pudding but with banana, honey, Yemeni bread and cream) totalled £27.50- Good portions- Fantastic flavours- family-friendly (they even have a baby changing unit downstairs but no ramp for buggy)- toilets are modern, beautifully decorated and well-kept- service is prompt- it's just off Praed Street in PaddingtonWhat's bad?- potentially crammed if you have a buggy but we were lucky we managed to get the buggy in- there was no ramp, so hard to get the buggy in

Food was okay, nothing special, and it wasn't very expensive. Service was pretty bad but it usually is in Middle Eastern restaurants

Went there for the first time last night with a mate. This place was recommended to me by a work colleage who raved about the Mandi Laham (lamb with rice). We got ourselves (2 of us) 2 main dishes and 2 starters. The serving was super generous, we didn't end up eating it all and felt really full in the end. The cost was acceptable at 20 quid per head (we also had soft drinks in our order). They did not serve alcohol, but there's a pub across the road if you're looking to have a drink. The service I found to be really good, our waiter was very friendly and had a chat to us about the football (England v France was shown on telly).Would gladly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is up for some Yemeni food.

I've been to this resturant more than once, they serve a tasty Yemeni and Middle Easter food. The food is great, prices are acceptable and the atmosphere is purely Arabic off Edgware Road for those who are visiting London and wants special Arab/Yemeni fresh food.

My friends and I had a lunch there, we ordered a (Mandi lamb), bread, and soup. The food was delicious. The waitresses services were good but they weren't friendly with their attitude. They need to take care of the bathroom services like soap and tissues were missing. You always need to check your bill before paying. In general I will visit it again because I like the food it's my favourite.

Firstly my friend and I , We decided to go to this restaurant as we wanted to eat Yemeni food very much , and as I am Yemeni food fan , I wanna mention that I had many times Yemeni Food and I know it very well and I know they Yemeni reception too. so to make it shortly the restaurant itself was nice decoration , I have order "Slata" its vey hot Yemeni dish but unfortunately was very cold and horrible test , for my friend was "Kabsa" rice with meat which is bad test ... bread , hummus all was totally bad bad .. the service itself was like you are in the public markt .. what I can say that totally not Yemeni food and not Yemeni way .. but if you are the person who wanna try awful things go here ..

Soup before drink, drink only after asking, soup cold, main dish arrived when I was halfway through with the soup. They seem to prefer watching TV than care for customers.

In an area where there are tons of middle eastern restaurants, this is a standout. You have to love lamb; little else on the menu. The portion sizes were huge. The service was friendly. I would return for sure.

I am slightly bemused by the other reviews of this restaurant so let me recount my experience.First of all, the service was very good. As soon as we arrived, we explained to the waiting staff that we had a theatre show to go to in an hour and if we could have our food quickly. No problem. The waiters were very friendly wish us and were impressed by our menu choices, asking if we had been to Yemen before. They were also very helpful in explaining the confusing bread selection as there are a number of different breads listed and it wasn't clear how they differed from the menu.We ordered barbecued fish and saltah, which is a traditional Yemeni stew made with lamb. It was spiced with chilli and fresh coriander. Yemeni food in general is quite hot compared to other Arab cuisines. We both enjoyed our meals.A final comment is that the restaurant is very nicely decorated inside and you hardly feel that you are on the streets of London when you are inside.

Ate here with my husband to tick off the Y of our alphabet eating by country (more on that in other reviews) - now we've done that that we won't be returning. We were tucking into our shared mixed starter plate with some relish - a generous plate of 4 dips, tabbouleh and salad with a large bread when suddenly two bowls of hot food arrived on the table ... oh that one is the lamb the waiter explained. He returned with the rice and then disappeared. As we were no more than 1/4 way into our starter I was somewhat stunned. There are two TVs showing the football in the restaurant (inaudibly thank goodness) but we could only guess that the chef or waiters wanted to rush us through so they could watch the footie. Anyway we finished our starters and then moved onto the mains which were by this point completely cold. I'm vegetarian and my chosen dish was "vegetarian curry". The dish comprised of potatoes in a thick tomato sauce - no discernable spice and definitely unlike any curry I've eaten from any country. My husband's lamb dish apparently also tasted only of tomato - even the lamb bits. The rice was tasty - with cardamon pods and other spices it was a generous portion and spelt great. It was to be honest the most appetising bit of the meal. We decided to give up - asked for the bill - which was a surprise when it arrived too. I asked the waiter to explain the bill and he started with the mix starter and bread which we'd ordered. When I explained that we didn't order starter with the bread he removed that item. I asked him about the vegetable dish - and that I was a little surprised that the only vegetable in it was potato. He said it was called vegetable as it has no chicken and no meat in it - appreciating this helpful explanation I shared my surprise that there was only potato and no spicing. Unfortunately no more helpful explanations were offered. After we'd paid a gentleman appeared who I am guessing was the manager. He was very polite and apologetic that we appear not to have enjoyed the meal and offered us a free tea. I'm afraid we declined as this didn't change our unenjoyable dining experience and his arrival was too late to have fixed any of the problems. I can't recommend this restaurant as I found the service poor and the food cold and not tasty.

Niente alcolici. Prezzi modici per Londra.

Different eating experience for us as we've never had Yemeni food before. I love lamb, which was just as well as there wasn't an awful lot else on the menu! It was, though, very tender and tasty. Very large portions - too big really. My only criticism was that the staff who served us, although very friendly, didn't seem to be familiar with the menu, and were unable to explain what the dishes were, so we weren't sure what it was we were going to be getting! Would certainly visit again.

Terrible experience in this place.the food was poor and it come out at different times, the service was very unfriendly and we found difficult to order as the staff didn't speak english(r we in London?).we waited ages for the bill so we told the manager that if the bill didn't arrive in the next five we will leave without pay. When we confronted the manager regarding the bad experience he didn't look bother at all.please choose a different restaurant as this one is not worthy your money and time.

Firstly we, family of four, booked a table from the day before, when we got there we were not greeted and the waiter looked confused when we said we made a reservation even though the restaurant was empty. We were seated as if they were doing us a favour! The decor was quite nice, traditional Yemeni decor but the restaurant had a horrible smell of bleach, not the fresh bleach that makes you think it's clean but that smell of bleach which has been mixed with dirty water....a bit like a toilet smell although it looked clean.Onto the service, two young attractive girls came in after us and were greeted wonderfully and seated immediately, their food came out even before we got a chance to order!! It was evident that they were favouritised. After a while the waiter finally took our order, his English wasn't great but neither was his Arabic (we speak fluently in English and Arabic Yemeni dialect). We ordered our food and 40 minutes later our meals arrived!! My main frustration...the waiter came with our fatta mouaz (famous bread and banana dish)...it was smothered in cream, my brother informed the waiter that this was not what we ordered and that he is lactose intolerant, the waiter immediately seemed annoyed and said "we did not specify which one we wanted". We explained that we just ordered the normal fatta mouaz and did not ask for the option with the cream (which is more expensive). My brother kindly asked if this could be changed due to his lactose intolerance but the waiter said it was not possible to change it and that if we wanted a plain one (as we ordered) he would have to charge us again for this! We decided not to bother as it was a special occasion and we wanted to have an enjoyable experience...although it was not what we ordered it was actually nice with the cream but it's principle!!The main courses were just okay...decent size portions but a tad over priced. The meat is very tender and falls apart. The tradition Yemeni bread was a let down, for £4.50 just for 1 piece it was not worth it.THIS IS NOT GENUINE YEMENI FOOD! We are all from Yemen and were disappointed. Only recommendation is the Kabsa Lahem which was the best meal ordered out of the four.Food menu online is differently priced from the restaurant, it's more expensive when you get there so this is false advertisement! The manager/owner seemed nice, he came to us once to check if everything was okay.We will definitely not be going back. It's a shame this is the only Yemeni restaurant I know of in London.

Can honestly say that I did not really enjoy this meal. To be fair, we did not know what we were ordering and the waiter did not speak the best English so we have some really oily soup which stained clothes and some quite dry rice. We will stick with Indian, I think.

I used to love this place, but haven't been for nearly 10 years. I'm glad to see it hasn't changed too much, but with the downside that it is now apparently owned by BrewDog. Luckily, it appears they let them continue without having to follow the "taproom by numbers" you get out of most BrewDog bars, so not only does it have it's own look, but there is a much more interesting selection of beers. It was easy enough to get a seat on a Saturday afternoon, which is always a bonus in a decent location like this.

It all looks OK but service is poor and the bar food served is cheap frozen food at prices that should require a far better quality. There are far better options in London

Fui a desayunar. Mucho a mucho. Este lugar no es para mi. Buen café sin embargo.
