The coffee was good, but the food was pretty average, as was the service. The croissant was very "bready" too, which is strange in a city with hundreds of thousands of French people.

Amazing food, great service, wonderful people working there, it is not my first nor my last hopefully.

Mid tier coffee, milk steamed poorly, old croissant, unsolicited service charge. Nearly 10 pounds for a coffee and crossaint!

Went in for a coffee and quick bite. The waitress seemed annoyed by our mere presence when we came in and then after asking to be served continued to say "wait a min" on 3 separate occasions as she did a poor job of "tidying" tables with no guests. Maybe she'd had a bad day or something, but this became quite rude. We ended up leaving as she still refused to come and take our order so can't rate the food.

A very nice place. Very friendly waiters. We ordered frappe, coffee with milk and hot chocolate. All very good, and very good presentation. I would repeat 100x100!!

We ordered a latte, hot chocolate and a caramel coffee frappe. Everything was great and the service was very friendly. I recommend it.

Delicious coffee and olives. They stopped serving food at 5 on a Sunday which was not the best. But great coffee and great atmosphere.

I had the worst experience in this place. It took a lot for the staff to take my order and after more than 40 minutes to just bring a ciabatta, which was cold and obviously I finished my drink before it arriving. I think they just forget about it and only bring it out after asking several times. I requested to speak with the manager, who was dark haired tall and big girl. I asked her to remove the service charge for what happened and she was unable to understand me. She tried to ask for what I was saying to other staff member… I think it was portuguese or Spanish but I find quite disappointing for a manager to not to be able to understand English when she is in charge and needed for someone else to translate…. At the end she did not helped me and I left because I was feeling overwhelmed, humiliated and frustrated for that horrible experience. Never had this problem before… Would not come back if she still in charge. Do something please 🙏

We came in and ordered the cheese board, a glass of wine, and a cocktail. The waitress then brought out some sort of hummus plate, and said “your cheeseboard”. We were confused. She then set down the same hummus plate to the table next to us and also called it a “cheese board”. We then assumed that we had made some sort of mistake reading the menu. We ate what was in front of us, and we weren’t gonna make a big deal out of it possibly being a mistake (it happens). Then another waitress came back around and brought the actual cheese board. We then thought maybe the first thing was something complementary or something? Again, confused. About 10+ minutes later the waitress came over and explained the mistake, we were very understanding (again, it happens). Then she asked if we were willing to put it on our bill! We said no, considering we clearly did not order this hummus. She tried to guilt us by saying it meant the other table didn’t get their food in time. I still politely refused, pointing out that she had twice described it as a cheese board. We then watched as she went over and argued with the manager, and my girlfriend said she might’ve heard the manager tell her that it was gonna come out of her paycheck. We’re not sure of this, so I don’t want to state it as fact. The waitress then came back and told us that her manager was asking us if we would please put it on our bill. I again declined. She walked away, saying nothing. We had already been ready to leave by this point, so I decided I had had enough and walked up to speak to the manager (I promise I’m not a Karen). The manager weakly apologized, then tried to add a 12.5% service charge, I was having none of that, so I asked for it to be taken off. I’m used to paying service charges but not under these circumstances. I have sympathy for the waitress, as I’m sure it was an honest mistake, but the way it was handled leaves me less than sympathetic. The food here was alright, but not worth the possible hassle that we and other reviewers I see have experienced. I’d recommend dining elsewhere.

Highly recommend the beetroot hummus and avocado toast (add a side of halloumi) SO DELICIOUS! Had to ask a few times for my friend's smoothie that was forgotten, and the matcha latte was more milk than matcha, but honestly, that beetroot hummus was so good that was practically all I could think about!

Hot, high prices for bad coffee and slow and unkind service. Really sorry, but can't make it prettier than it was.

This is a restaurant located near the tourist attraction Trafalgar Square. If you take the railway, you can get there within five minutes. In addition to selling general coffee drinks, the restaurant also sells alcoholic beverages. This is a very uniquely decorated restaurant. A restaurant, although the restaurant is not very big, it really gives people a very comfortable feeling. I saw many people ordering a small glass of wine and slowly tasting it here. The clerk was also very polite and had a good service attitude with a smile. We tried their smoked salmon, which is the same as the one sold and tasted very good. It is worth a try. We also tried some of their drinks, but they were just average. In addition, they also provide a restroom in the basement. Please be careful when going up and down the stairs because the stairs are relatively narrow. And because it is very close to tourist attractions, it is definitely a good place to go when you travel to the UK. If you want to sit for a while, you can sit here for a while.

Perfect spot for brunch before the National Portrait Gallery. The service was quick and friendly and the food both lovely and delicious. Lots of options for a variety of palates - my picky tween, hungry teen boy and foodie teen girl were all very happy with the menu. Definitely recommend for a quick bite if you're in the area.

I've been here two times - the first time was a Sunday afternoon - very busy and loud, but the coffee was great. I could excuse slow service at that time since they were very busy, but the second time I came was a different story. I came on a Thursday afternoon - not particularly busy. My order was taken, but I had to wait 20 minutes to receive my coffee (a simple flat white). I at first didn't think much of it, but then I noticed that people who had arrived after me had already received their drinks. It turns out they had totally forgotten about my order! No apology, no explanation, just a "You wanted a flat white, right?" and then it turned up 3 minutes later. Ultimately, the coffee is okay, especially for the price, and the atmosphere is pretty nice for socialising (on quieter days)... you just have to expect slow service.

Helpful staff. Good cappuccino and a convenient location. My husband bought a couple bags of coffee beans here and has enjoyed them all.

First Brunch in London. The place is classical and food is perfect. The source is kind of the one we used in China!

Small, cozy shop just steps away from Trafalgar Square. Delicious mocha (a plus that they can make it decaf) and well-made latte. Scone came with strawberry and clotted cream.

Solid and affordable central pizzeria. Would recommend for a reliable quick dinner.

Went here for coffee and a brunch, which was all freshly cooked so a wait was anticipated, the coffee was very good, great quality and had a lovely smooth texture, they have a in-house roasterie so I expected it to be of the quality it was. The bacon with the avocado and poached eggs were delicious although bacon a little cold so we asked for it to be heated up more which the waiter did with no problem.

They say they have pour overs but I just walked 45 minutes for one and they acted as if they didn’t even know what one a Was. They didn’t even gave regular pre-brewed filtered coffee.

The worst experience we had from a restaurant in London. They sat us down in the half-full place and didn't even ask us if we wanted a glass of water for 30 minutes. The staff specifically avoided any eye contact, 4 of them relied on the bar, but they didn't have time to serve us. It didn't even occur to them that we left after waiting without an order. I don't recommend it to anyone, the place still looks cute though.

Came here a year or more ago and it felt relatively smart. Now it just feels like a cafeteria - slow service and overpriced for what it is. The coffee is ok and the pastries uninspiring. Feels strange to pay 12.5% service when it is slow and you just pay at the register on your way out

They inflate their prices if you sit in - including their coffee - then forced me to pay service charge for zero service just because I sat at the table. Staff were so rude about it too. So 2 average cold coffees came to over £9. AVOID IF YOU CAN

We came here based on a guidebook recommendation. The food was very good, however, my friend and I found the coffee to taste very bitter and strange. I am not sure if it is the coffee they used, but we were almost unable to drink the coffees due to how weird they tasted. The food was great and so was the service.

Small café doing a range of drinks throughout the day, good to see tea & coffee also available into the evening. I was waiting about 15 mins to be seated and others seated before me upon arrival, despite ample space. Service was ok, drink were good although a little costly. Didn't eat but good to see GF items on the menu.

It was a nice experience for me. Hot chocolate was average, brownie with ice cream was good. Opens during evenings. Friendly service and nice ambiance with good music.

There was only one guy working the floor whilst all the other ladies were just standing behind the bar. Not only did he serve us but he also made our drinks. He was very nice and great service from him, couldn’t say the same about the rest, but I wouldn’t know. Felt really bad for him.

Coffee is perfectly acceptable, but nothing special, Ditto for the food. However for central London, the pricing isn't particularly high. Decor is good, trendy in some ways, traditional in others, all 3 of us liked it. Service was a mixed bag, the staff were friendly and helpful. But fast to be seated, slow to take our order, medium to serve and fast to clear. But not rushed to leave.

Good coffee, a little bit inconsistent though.

Food is fine, place is great, but the service is terrible! 15 minutes for a latte to arrive. Half of the table received their food and the other half only got it (believe it or not) when some of the people that received it first already finished their dishes. One of the ones left behind was 3yo and could not contempt his discontentment (contributing further to the noisy environment). If you wish to grab and go, fine. If you wish to stay, maybe you should go somewhere else.

Super endroit. Les produits sont frais et de bonne qualité. Nous revenons tous les ans ici. Celui de Trafalgar Square car les autres sont plus take away. Le personnel est tres serviable et gentil. Les prix sont très très correct pour la qualité. Je conseil c'est un incontournable de Londres.

We have not been for some time but regularly popped in for a morning coffee and cake in the past. However, the previous counter ordering has been replaced with 'wait to be seated' and orders taken at the table. We waited for some time to be seated. After 10 minutes, our orders had not been taken and neither had nearby tables who were ahead of us. We therefore left and went to the nearby Pret. The cakes etc looked as good as ever but please return to the previous more efficient system of counter ordering. Otherwise, we will not return.

I really like this place for coffee/cocktails but the service is sadly very poor. The service I received today was unkind and super slow for a central London cafe. A waitress actually rolled her eyes at a few customers (including me) who chased food and drinks after waiting for a long time.

Great little find in the heart of London right next to Trafalgar square. You will need to keep your eyes out because it is discretely marked from the street. We went there for coffee and brunch. The pancakes were very tasty both ways. Very good coffee!

Lovely coffee, even decaf. Central London prices at £3+ and +30p for alternative milk. Fresh peppermint tea 👌🏻Nice nibbles for a snack and catch up with friends, we ordered the patatas bravas. The waiter that served us was a little condescending and unreliable but a lady took over so we were glad for that! Would come back for their coffee again.

Super cute café, the breakfast is delicious and they have a lot of gluten free options. The service is really good and especially the one with the black glasses, he is so kind and heartwarming. The next time I come to London, I will definitely come here!☺️

Amazing decaf oat milk flat white ☕️ and coconut matcha 🍵 quick friendly service, delicious freshly roasted beans and perfectly Foamed milk. They have Oatly which is key for me. Will be back for sure!

Looking for an early morning cup of coffee and danish. Stumbled on Notes while around Trafalgar Square. Focused menu in the java area and several light breakfast and sandwich options. Waiter was attentive. Coffee hit the spot. Will return if in the Trafalgar area

Coffee is very good here. I had a brownie which was a bit too sweet for my taste. We visited at a peak time and it was rather difficult to maintain a conversation due to noise. Waitress was lovely, cannot fault her.

Great cappuccino! A nice cafe on a bright quiet street. Would want to try other options next time, menu looks super good! Their baked cakes are fresh too.

Absolutely exceptional in every way. The food was a little more unique but very, very good. For London, and particularly Covent Garden, reasonably priced as well.

Nice coffee shop near Leicester Square. Quite loud inside but can hear people at your own table fine. The food was tasty and a nice size portion (not too big). Enjoyed the pancakes and a mozzarella pesto baguette. Coffee and soft drinks were also nice. Friendly staff and not rushed to leave despite being busy.

This is the first time I have reviewed Notes after visiting quite a few times now. Their sharing boards are lovely, the Spanish olives really are the best but you cannot beat the best ever espresso martini. The other Notes are fair but the one in St Martins Lane is the best for me. We will of course be returning and have introduced many friends to it too….
