Vinimos como siempre con nuestro pequeño perrito. Iba a cenar allí.

This used to be our go to restaurant when we wanted to go out for a meal where the food was a reasonable quality and everyone could find something on the menu. We stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday during the school holidays. The first issue was that I was driving and when I asked what alcohol free beer they had and I was told none. As many people will be driving to this place I think this is not really acceptable. (Even my local country pub serves some non alcoholic beer. I still had a drink as did my family and took a menu and a seat outside. The menu has changed, which is fine and was probably about due, however the new menu is practically the same as at a major chain hotel I regularly stay in for work and doesn't really inspire. There is basically a dish with each meat, a fish dish an 2 vegetarian option plus 3 types of burger. In reality this menu is not aimed at families but I'm guessing the retirees that appear to make up the majority of the clientele would think it's 'posh'. I will say the prices are not outrageous but as there was nothing on the menu any of us fancied we decided just to have our drinks and go somewhere else. Still a nice place to stop for a drink but unfortunately no longer going out of our way for a meal.

I wouldn’t recommend the Pyewipe for a number of reasons. We had our wedding reception there this weekend and up until the day everything had been great. Chris had been so helpful and accommodating and helping with things we weren’t sure of right up until the day before. We booked the bridal suite and had guests staying in the lodge. When we arrived the person at check in didn’t know how to work the computer. I explained we needed to get in the rooms asap to start getting ready as we had 1 hour. Another staff member came to help and advised us when we paid off the total balance of the wedding it didn’t include the rooms so we were given a £455 bill. I asked if Chris was around as the manager and he said he was on a break! We got to the rooms, one room hadn’t been cleaned and had to have cleaners back to it. At the reception Chris was nowhere to be seen. Staff members hounded my mother in law for payment of her room on the dance floor even though she paid at check in. The same staff member hounded my husband at the end of the night and handed him a room key and said he was being charged £130 for it as they couldn’t find who booked it. The next day the entire party who stayed at the hotel came out in bed bug bites. My mother recorded one on the pillow. Children and elderly people have been suffering and the Pyewipe will not admit they have a problem. They also tripe charged a family in our party for breakfast. Would I recommend this to eat? No Stay no? Your wedding day??? Absolutely no!

I visited in winter, the potholed entrance road, car park and outdoor setting was underwelming and the first impression was of a dated neglected building that I was surprised to see still functioning after covid. Winter weather gave a particularly drab experience. The service was good, food came in decent time and Asian cuisine twists to some standard dishes were interesting. The food was of a high standard. In other reviews I see no mention of the thick odour that permiates the whole venue so it may be a one off. I'd describe it as the fungal scent of a plywood urinal backing panel saturated by damp. It's quite hard to ignore.

I've eaten here a few times and the food has always been lovely. Service has never been brilliant but we went on new years day for a family lunch and the service was really below average. We were waiting 40 minutes for anyone to even take our order. My 7 year old son was really hungry so ordered a basket of bread as a starter and we asked for it to come out ASAP. We chased it and before th bread came out everyone else's starters did. We weren't waiting too long for our main course to come out after starters had finished but unfortunately one of our party found some hard cling film in their food which the server did apologise. We were asked if we wanted another meal but we'd all almost finished so it was pointless. The bill came and we had to ask for it to be sent back so that the "plastic meal" could be removed. They took that meal off and the lady's starter. The food was actually really good so it was a shame about the plastic and the below av service. Nice pub though and having eaten there before I would go again but probably not with such a big party and when it's perhaps a bit quieter.

Shame because its a nice place, but its let down by the fundamentals. Oh and they tried to overcharge us when the bill arrived! Couldn't even get that part right! 1st visit and our last. There seemed to be an inordinate number of parties booked in on the night we visited - so much so it took me back to the school dining halls I remember from my schooldays. I had butterfly prawns as a starter. Not the best I’ve ever had and tasted of everything that had been fried in that oil over the last few days/weeks. Not a good start. Then had the haddock. It was ok. The chips were nice but the mushy peas were way too minty. Given the numbers they are serving, the food will have been brought in frozen and then just fried to order. This isn’t “home cooked” food as I see it. Choice was also limited and very ordinary. A lot of the items we cook at home from fresh so this wasn’t really a special occasion. Staff could have been a lot better. Some were ok others were downright rude. All in all this was a very disappointing evening. Food poor, staff less than average and atmosphere appalling. I’m fairly certain we won’t be back, which I feel, is a great shame.

Booked an overnight stay and ate dinner in the restaurant. The food was lovely and plenty of it. Lovely atmosphere and ambiance. Unfortunately my husband was unwell and the bed was uncomfortable (dipped in the middle) so he couldn’t sleep so we left at midnight to go home so didn’t get to experience the breakfast we paid an extra £20 for. Will definitely come back in the Summer to eat and walk to Lincoln along the river but beds need upgrading for us to stay again. The room itself had everything but the comfort of a bed is key for us.

Stayed here overnight. Evening meal in pub quite acceptable and young staff friendly. Then we went to our room and it all went downhill. Room okay, not luxury - similar to a Premier Inn, but bed not as comfy and pillows cheap and lumpy. The walls of the building must be super thin, as we could hear every word of the television in the room next door and the conversation until 1.15 a.m. Also could hear the room above us blowing their nose and urinating during the night - sounded like a thundering waterfall. Then there was the banging of entrance doors and the charming lady drunk at 3.20 a.m. shouting her mouth off. Lovely!! Booked breakfast for 8a.m., so walked over just before - 3 minutes to 8 - door was locked, so we tapped on the door and were allowed in to be told by a grumpy man that it wasn’t yet 8. Great customer service attitude! Breakfast as basic as possible. White toast, no brown offered, no frills, no effort. So - don’t stay here if you would like to sleep - and skip breakfast, unless you like being treated as a nuisance!

Not a great sight to behold on pulling into the car park, it was extremely pot holed ! & the small garden beds filled with weeds & grass 😕 . On first glance the bedroom has lovely decor & looked nice & clean, however the shower in the bathroom was in desperate need of a good scrub, which then makes you doubt the overall cleanliness. We later dined in the restaurant, food was was fine, staff friendly & professional, but strolling back to the accommodation across the car park at night was a bit of a nightmare trying to dodge all the pot holes which were filled with water, after a day of constant rain.

We once again went to Lincoln, and went to our favourite ❤️ place for a few days. What a great place to stay the accommodation is really good it is away from the pub itself so there is no noise to keep you awake. We didn’t have great weather but had a few hours of sunshine. We went every night to have our evening meal which is always delicious 😋. Then breakfast in the morning was good too. So if you go to Lincoln give them a go, it next to the canal so when the sun is shining it’s lovely to sit and watch the boats and swans swim by. The patio was beautiful with flowers in pots all round the tables and chairs it was beautiful. Thank you The Pye Wipe.

First time visiting this pub even though we've driven past the sign hundreds of times!! Was very impressed with the food and the service was really good. Had the stilton stuffed chicken breast and it was excellent! Finished off with the chocolate and peanut brownie. It was good but not great. More like a very light chocolate sponge rather than a brownie and couldn't taste peanuts at all. The service was great though. The waitresses who served us were really polite and attentive without being overbearing. On the whole, we really enjoyed it and will definitely visit again. If I could give one suggestion it would be to get the seats deep cleaned and get new printed menus which are clean. They let down an otherwise really lovely restaurant.

We moved back into the area after 18 years away so we were looking forward to a re visit to The Pyewipe after all those years. Very wet day so sat inside, we had our dog with us and The Pyewipe is certainly very dog friendly. Staff are very friendly and there are plenty of them! Soup and Soufflé each to start, very tasty, very promising . For my main course, I had half a sea bass filet that had been far, far too overcooked. Sea bass is a very delicate fish and takes very little cooking. It was dark yellow and it was so over cooked, it crunched as I ate it! It was so small it was gone in an instant! The poor little half sea bass sat on an overwhelmingly HUGE bed of new potatoes, tender stem broccoli (albeit in a lovely lemon sauce). Masses of veg, nicely cooked but totally disproportionate to the aforementioned teen tiny piece of dried up fish. My partner had chicken escalope in a mushroom sauce , with champ potatoes in a mushroom sauce. It was ‘okay’, nothing to rush back for. Our dog had the very appealingly advertised ‘dog dinner’. Described as ‘beef in gravy with rice for £3.50’, a very novel idea in principle. However this was very disappointing too! 90% rice, with half a dozen bits of dry beef on the top, with a smattering of half slices of carrot. NO GRAVY, so the dog spread the rice all over the floor to search for the much coveted beef bits!! Sorry, won’t be on our list for a re visit.
