Magna Carta in Lincoln

Great pub right between Lincoln's historic cathedral and castle. Small but nice selection of drinks, reasonably priced, and the staff are exceptionally friendly.

Big pub with lots of different areas to sit in over different floors. Had adequate staff to deal with the amount of customers through the door so served quickly. Got seats no problem

Lovely welcoming staff. We placed a last minute booking with a dog and they made sure there was space for us despite being fully packed communication over wait times was very clear. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

The welcome was friendly and service reasonably prompt. Ambiance acceptable but nothing to write home about. Perhaps because it was a Sunday and there was no chef on duty but what was served up was simply horrible. We'd ordered fish & chips and a burger. Outstanding was the fish; overcooked batter whilst lukewarm fish. Chips were like leather. Burger roll was borderline stale. The burger was hardly grilled. There were lots of apolgies and offers of replacements, free drinks etc but frankly we just wanted to go home.

A regular haunt when we visit Lincoln. The food is always good, served in reasonable time and red hot on arrival. The service is very friendly - thanks Henna

This is a historic building in the beautiful castle square of Lincoln. My husband and I had our first date here when it was Harvey's Restaurant 40 years ago. As a surprise he arranged to go back for a meal. It's alot different now but he asked Karl and Lou who run it if they could help and reserved a table for us, which they did and they really pulled out all the stops to give us a window table and make it exclusive as they could which we really appreciated. They even chilled our favourite Champers. We had a lovely evening and would recommend it to anyone coming to Lincoln to see our wonderful Cathedral or any night out in Lincoln.

The staff on duty were lovely and friendly young people. The food was OK, not the nicest quality but passable. For the price of the soft drinks they were pricey and not a great quality. We don't drink alcohol. Thankfully, we were lucky enough to have a money off voucher which made it OK value for money.

Stopped for a spot of lunch. Four adults. Two kids and two dogs. The team were incredibly friendly and attentive. Ordered drinks and food. Food was amazing and big shout out to the chips. Would definitely return. 5stars for food. Atmosphere and service. Well done to the team at the Magna Carta.

Just had the best lunch and will definitely come back, have some of chips best I've had in a long time.

It was busy, but the helpful bar staff told us of extra seating upstairs that we could use. The waiter told us we could use the app which was simple and the orders arrived quickly. All in all a great experience.

Very welcoming, friendly and efficient staff. Very good menu with good range of choice at a good price. Service was excellent and good was delicious. Lovely old pub which was comfortable and good music playing. Will be back.

Lovely little pub, headed there after the Lincoln 10k and they had zero guiness and a good selection of drinks. Atmosphere was buzzing with runners and the pub was very accommodating.

Dropped in to eat on a whim, when visiting lincoln cathedral with my wife and son. Was pleasantly surprised to get a table in a quiet room on a Saturday evening. The meals were great and the serving staff were friendly and quick with the food. I'll definitely be back for something to eat next time I'm in Lincoln.

Great position only few yards from castle gate, buzzy atmosphere with friendly staff. We found the food was very good and the price was reasonable for its position in the old town.

Magna carta had some fantastic service, especially by the young lad Aaron, he showed clear experience with no communication issues and was super friendly to my family and I !

Overcooked meat. Undercooked sides. Overpriced menu. Undersized portion. Far better places on the bailgate - do not waste your time here.

Amazing service! Came in for a needed drink after climbing Steep Hill and Aaron gave some really friendly service - so much so that 1 drink turned into 3. We will be coming back for the quiz!

Went to the Magna Carta and was served by Aaron who was incredibly helpful with explaining the process and served with a smile throughout. Would absolutely return in the future.

Had a lovely meal and a drink here one evening, service was phenomenal me and my party were taken care of by a server named Aaron and his hospitality skills were excellent. Would definitely come here again for the food and atmosphere.

Great pub, very friendly place. Great location in the Bail Gate next to the Cathedral.It has a local pub feel which is hard to find in a tourest trap. The staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly especially Sara , Aaron and Karl. I highly recommend this place to eat . Drink and catch up with friends or family. They also have some great quiz nights. Mon and weds.

We had booked a table for food and the quiz. I had to change the booking via phone the same afternoon, this was no trouble. We were allocated a table in the area I had asked for. Food was ordered and receive promptly. Staff were friendly and courteous all evening. The quiz was fun, pitched at a level that most could enjoy, bonus was that we also won!

We often go to the quiz night on a Wednesday and it is brilliant fun! The owners and staff are very friendly and it's a beautiful location with the castle and cathedral in view! I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone! 😀🍻

Lovely place. Second time visiting but first time ordering food. Very nice spot for lunch.

Welcoming when got in. Was not impressed with the food, I had the Beef & lamb kebab, which I felt the meat was lacking in quality was about 7 slices which was lukewarm. No difference in flavour between lamb & beef. Partner had steak & ale pie hardly any meat in that, peas were lukewarm and gravy was a really runny and looked like dish water. Sorry to say all this as have been in past and had lovely meal. Felt let down this time.

We went in after climbing the hill for our day out in Lincoln, got in to a well managed and clean restaurant. Sat down ordered drinks without a fuss same with our food and really had a nice time as we took a breather. Lovely staff, lovely service, nothing needs to change!

Staff were very good, friendly and helpful. The historical relevance of the pub cannot be ignored, being situated where it is. Food was nice but my partner was very dehydrated during the evening after the meal.

Very disappointing unfortunately. Staff seemed disinterested. Food portions were small. The baguettes with Philly Cheese burger seemed a bit stale at the ends (although the steak was well cooked). Could do so much better given where it's located.

For how much we payed the portion size was very small and very short staffed there was two on front of house and one in the kitchen there was not very many people when we ordered and still had to wait 45min

Just had a meal at this pub , and it was fantastic . It was cooked to perfection and was served hot and very tasty. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and made sure we were enjoying our meal. The price for our food was fantastic value and I was told the Guinness was superb. We would highly recommend anyone to visit and have a meal. Quiz night Wednesday was a bonus.

There is a very friendly welcoming atmosphere as you walk in, we were met by a Bar Assistant who we have chatted with on our previous visit. As the pub was busy he invited us in and pointed out there was seating upstairs, being Valentine's evening it was all couples up there.. we ordered and had a very nice meal. We have visited The Magna Carts lots of time over the last 20 years and it never disappoints..I'd thoroughly Recommend

Amazing service, to me it seems that everyone that works here genuinely wants to be here; nothing more refreshing than that. Blonde bar tender is the most polite guy ever and will forever give you amazing service, with advice and Information, cannot recommend enough.

Had an absolutely amazing meal here tonight, the service was spectacular, the staff were so helpful and friendly. The meal was top tier and certainly worth what I payed and then some more. It’s a lovely place to eat or drink, you can tell everyone there is enjoying themselves just as much as you are, definitely coming back here soon. 11/10

The welcome was non existent even though there were 3 behind the bar. The food was ok but expected better. Just the experience overall was lacking.

Very different decor. Clean tables. Friendly and attentive staff. Food delivered fast and hot. I particularly liked the small, lunch time offers. I hate wasting Food. Too many pubs give huge portions and it's so off putting. Well done.

We just spent an intense afternoon climbing the local steep hill, then the castle walls, and exploring the Lincoln Cathedral. After such a day, it is nothing but a relief to sit down in a cosy, friendly pub, right in the middle of town. The staff was very nice, and the fish&chips they served us was almost too large to finish. It must be that the locals who swarm about the place are known as big eaters.

We had a lovely meal with a lovely view of the Castle square and cathedral - wonderful! Staff were amazing and friendly, food came quickly and was very good. Would definitely go again

We booked the magna carta as a pre cathedral show. It was extremely busy. On a few floors. Eating is upstairs. When it is so busy at and around the bar, would have preferred order taken from table. There is a good choice on the menu. For the price really couldn't complain about the food. Would return if in the area. Staff did a good job in preparing and delivering the food in such a busy environment.

Lovely place, excellent views. Nice food. Staff were very friendly. Always keeping the tables clean. Find was very god and reasonably priced. Toilets were clean.
