Walked along beach from Woolacombe in bright autumn sunshine. Had four coffees, one breakfast bun, one pasty and one beef nachos. Came to £40 which is top end for takeaway in paper/polystyrene. Had a long wait - must be terrible in the summer. Food and coffee was ‘ok’ but not somewhere I’d rush back to. Looks to be a much better reviewed café stop half way up the beach which we’ll definitely try next time.

The beach is beautiful and plenty of space for dogs and children to play. The cafe was a great disappointment. The hot chocolate was hot but insipid and tasteless. Also it was £3.75 a paper cup which is expensive, even if it was a good hot chocolate, which it certainly was not. What a shame the cafe lets the beach down in its standard of drinks. We didn't bother with food after the horrible drink!!

Coffee was ambitiously priced at £3.75 for an Americano. Well, thats to say I asked for an Americano as I like to add my own milk. What I got was a weak white coffee from a bean to cup vending machine in a paper cup. Weak and tasteless! Choice of cakes was limited to just 2 - caramel shortbread or eccles cake. For two coffees and one cake we paid £9.50. This is more expensive than most other cafes but with a trapped market i guess they can charge that much. Much better offerings at Woolacombe!

This cafe , in a glorious location overlooking Putborough Beach has turned itself into a shop selling every type of plastic tat. We had coffee which was overpriced and poor quality. The whole place feels claustrophobic as it’s overfilled with all sorts of plastic goods. Customers are now asked to clear their own tables.! We remember it as a lovely simple beach cafe,

Very dissatisfied, stopped off for a coffee having walked from Woolacombe. Coffee was tasteless and expensive. Coming from a vending machine set-up. My daughter asked for Oat milk due to an allergy and was told the machine is already set up for drink and no alternative is available. This was not a barista coffee machine. £3.75 for a tasteless Coffee in a disposable cup. Notes on the outside asking customer's to clear there own tables. Tanoy system for customer to collect their own food, so what service were we paying for? I understand they need to make a profit, however as a family we will not return or recommend. We live in the south west so are locals.

Place has a great view, staff are nice and the coffee is ok, though very poor choice of food (everything is basically a bap). food is also very poor quality, whilst being very expensive, made worse that they serve it to you in a tiny polystyrene box, and you have to try and eat it with ridiculous wooden knives and forks that break if you try and use them. To top it off, had a very upset stomach after eating a prawn baked potato. As others have said not worth the 15 minute queue, better to take sandwiches on the beach

Amazing location and professionally presented and priced but my sausage bap was a big disappointment. Low quality and more of the colour and texture of a hot dog sausage. For £4.50 I’d expect a quality sausage and the option of a buttered roll.

A lovely cosy coffee shop in a glorious location overlooking the wonderful sandy beach. We had walked here from Woolacombe, and were relieved to find this place as our walk had been an effort due to the very strong winds. Unfortunately, we found the speed of service here totally unacceptable. Long queues not being attended to, yet always a couple of staff standing around doing nothing. Someone in the queue ran out of patience and gave the staff a right blasting for the crap service. His tone was not the politest, but he was saying what most of us were thinking, that the service here is far too slow and simply not good enough.

After completing the park run at Woolacombe I walked to Putsborough with the intention of enjoying a full breakfast. What a disappointment, after viewing the menu all that was available was 'Baps'. We had sat at a table where we saw a man eating a full English on a real plate with a pottery mug of coffee. However when we asked for a full English we were informed that this was not possible. We were both in need of sustenance so my wife ordered a full English bap without the bap and I ordered the full bap. Two coffees were also ordered with hot milk on the side. The order was called, at this establishment everything is shouted and you have to go and fetch it, there is no table service. The meal was served in a cardboard box, see presentation of my wife's deconstructed bap! Coffees were good, the bap was awful. The eggs were overcooked and solid on the bottom with burnt base. The sausages were cut into half lengthways and were either overcooked at one end and undercooked at the other. My wife left hers. The bacon was overcooked the tomato was perfect. SO, why did the guy on the next table have a proper plate and cutlery. Well he was LOCAL! I live 10 miles away perhaps I should have insisted on proper crockery etc. Will we go again? yes to the beach but no to the cafe. We felt totally ripped off. The staff were very polite.

Fantastic setting without a doubt. Food and drinks expensive for what they were. Slice of lemon cake (not home made as I asked) £2. Latte in a paper cup £3.50. Customers should note there's no toilet facilities at this cafe which is at the end of a very steep downhill slope. For anyone with mobility issues, its a stiff climb back up to the car park to use the ultra modern and exceptionally clean public toilets.

We’ve been going to Putsborough beach and cafe for many years; they are favourites. Yesterday’s cafe experience was disappointing. If there had been a menu outside just one person could have queued and ordered, cutting down the amount of people inside and helping with social distancing etc. Instead whole families had to go in and were then trapped shuffling along in the queue for 20+ mins. Same queue wether you wanted a can of coke or a full meal which was madness. Worst were the numerous aggressive ‘covid’ notices - don’t touch this don’t touch that stand here here don’t stand there if you are in this spot you are a failure as a person etc. Don’t touch the merchandise unless you are going to buy it. Well. Bought a souvenir and when I got it home it was broken. Would have noticed if I’d been free to browse. Other shops don’t make such a rule!Food was good but on trying to use the recycling bins afterwards found the cafe was just dumping its waste in the recycling bins. Freshly squeezed orange juice is its latest new drink and all the orange skins were piled up on top of the cans! So much for the environmentally friendly claims it makes!Putsborough you need a rethink.

After walking from Mortehoe, we were looking forward to some sustenance for the return journey - we had a pork bap and a soup and 2 teas. The bap was overly buttered with some cheap tasting margarine type spread, the pork was chewy, I’d expected it to be pulled pork but it was a leathery slab. The soup was the most bland flavour I have ever tried. Even the tea looked like dishwater. Will take a packed lunch in future!

Visited yesterday having been many times before - very disappointed with the cafe which has a captive audience. Having waited for 30 minutes in a queue the coffee was mediocre at best - supposedly a latte but could have been instant for all the flavour. I found the cafe to be disorganised, only sugar on the counter, 3 youngsters trying to serve the masses from a very small hatch, and although there is a second hatch this is for cold drinks and ice creams only. Given that this was possibly the first sunny day in August so far a little more organisation might have helped the mood of the queue (and the speed of service). On a positive note the cakes were very yummy and the girls serving did so with a smile and an apology. Will take a flask next time or opt for cold drinks!

Amazing location just about the beach with amazing views* Breakfasts are tasty but a little pricy, £7 for the 'full english' and that doesn't include any toast but it's a large portion and the ingredients are good quality.Slightly odd that everything is served in a takeaway box (nice cardboard one) with wooden knives and forks, quite hard to cut the bacon so my partner resorted to using his penknife! Well behaved dogs are allowed inside - sandy decking floor in the café, it's all very relaxed.Would like to see some recycling facilities as I felt guilty putting my cold drink bottle in a mixed waste bin. Not our first visit and won't be our last, might bring our own cutlery next time though. *Whoever designed the building should have sat on a chair before deciding on the height of the window frames, if they were 6 inches lower then I wouldn't have to crick my neck to watch the surf!

We chose jacket potatoes for lunch but found it a bit odd that they were served in a polystyrene tray with wooden cutlery. Although the potato was very nice and the filling very generous it was very hard to eat in the tray and it was difficult to cut with a thin wooden knife. As we were eating indoors this time and not as a take-a-way, a plate would have been easier - even if it was a polystyrene one.Couldn't fault the location and it was a very welcome rest stop before walking back to Woolacombe.

The cafe was not busy and we were served quickly but this is not a cheap place to eat and to be charged 25p extra for some ketchup in a bacon roll is penny pinchingly mean. There are no toilets at the cafe but the new block in the car park slightly up the hill are well worth a visit!! The only cafe at Putsborough is now improved on how I remember it from a few years ago. It now has an enlarged seating area and a nice informal ambience with an indoor area with a great view through clear plastic screens that block the wind (Greek Taverna style!) and an outdoor terrace above - beloved of dog walkers. A speaker in the roof blurts out when your order is ready to collect from the counter - listen carefully as easy to miss!Food is a bit pricier than normal - as the cafe is the only option here - but good quality and with some tasty options - nachos, Exmoor beefburgers, crab sandwiches, smoked salmon and cream cheese etc. alongside all the staples you'd expect. Reasonable tea and coffee at £2, with decaf available for both, and smallish glasses of lovely sweet orange juice also at £2.Car parking at Putsborough is channeled into one all day only site at £7.50. The place also does surf and wet suit hire, with a couple of hours board hire available or longer at a fairly typical price. The car park also has smart new loos (very clean and solar powered, no less) which also serve the cafe.If you don't want to drive to Putsborough, the walk across the beach from Woolacombe is great. It's about 2.5 miles from there to the cafe, and the stroll there and back is a lovely way to spend some hours. Took just over an hour each way with our kids (6 and 8) plus sandcastle building and French cricket stops...and some epic dune jumping about a third of the way out from Woolacombe near the first outcrop of rocks.

I have always the food to nice here. I think it is slightly over priced though. I guess its because its the only place in Putsborough and so can!! Most of the staff are very friendly and the place caters for all beach food and needs.

We visited the red barn on our first night of a 7-day break! The restaurant is clean, staff are really friendly and the food was good. We often visited for a drink during our stay and the atmosphere was always really good! Great location and worth a visit!

Just had a weekend in Lynton and almost didn't go in here due to some negative reviews we'd seen online but so glad we did. Staff are lovely, prices compared to where we live in Bradford on avon are so much cheaper and we both found we were relaxed both times we visited. No food serving but staff were quick to advise good restaurants within walking distance.
