We came here for a family dinner last night and was delighted to find such a lovely cosy romantic restaurant. Staff were very friendly, attentive and efficient. Our orders came very fast. We had tandoori chicken and prawns with naan bread and poppadoms while I had lamb briani rice which was delicious and came in a big portion. Mr. Afzal who served our table was very commendable and made sure we had all that we need for a good dinner meal last night. Thank you so much for such a good experience and see you all again.

I have been using this restaurant since it opened but visited for the first time since 2018 as I now live abroad. It was as if I had not been away. The food was absolutely fantastic, the staff were great and extended a great welcome. You don't just go to the Purple Mango for the food, you go for the whole package of being looked after and treated special. To anyone unfamiliar with the Mango please give it a try, you should not be disappointed.

We booked a large group, after waiting nearly half an hour, they finally took our order, we then waited a further 2 hours for our food to arrive. We spoke to the manager on that night and he said well you are not a priority as you are eating in the restaurant and not getting a take away. The food came out luke warm at best, when we mentioned this we were told we were upsetting his chef. Utterly disappointed, we will never return.

This restaurant seems to have gone downhill quite a bit over the last year also. It’s a shame really because we used to like visiting here as a family and were always happy with our meals. Now it feels like no one really cares about your experience and to be honest with you it represents a poor value for money. I don’t think I will be returning again in a rush as there are better options around which represent much better value.

Went to purple mango for a 40th birthday meal with a party of people, ended up having to wait over 2 hours for the lukewarm food to arrive, with continual assurances meal would would be there in 5 minutes...whereas the take away food was being prioritised over the diners in the restaurant (this was told to us by one of the staff as well!!!) Overall service was shocking, so slow to get drinks, rude staff when we challenged paying full price for our meals and no ability to contact the manager who wasn't on site...will never be coming here again. Only good thing was tasty food, but seeing as it was lukewarm, 2 hours waiting and getting very fed up - really didn't enjoy the meal at all.

My mouth waters just thinking about this place! Excellent food, onion bhajis are huge and just so delicious, the setting is lovely so if it's busy or quiet it still has a nice atmosphere and the portions are huge! the only downside is that the staff are not as attentive as they could be, but if you go in and just take your time then it's perfect.

Having read a few reviews of Indian restaurants in MK I chose this one as it wasn't town centre and was a short drive from the hotel I was staying in. Greeting was friendly, I was shown to a table immediately and given a banquet menu (starter, main, side and rice / breads. You get one choice from each for £10.95) No A la carte menu was offered. The waiter that served me was efficient but sullen. The food was ok, very hot temperature wise, spicy enough but just a little dull. I'm fairly sure everything was microwaved. At the end of the meal I paid, got my receipt and left. No "thank you" etc from the staff, no "was your meal ok". All a little odd, like they didn't really care. Would I go back? Possibly if I was staying near by but I'd be checking other places first.

We went there for the first time and was very disappointed. The Resturant itself had good atmosphere but the time we went they had a private 60th birthday so the crowd was very loud and drunk! The waiter who took our order couldn't speak English very well and it felt he wasn't listening or interested. It felt like he didn't want to be there! The food didn't take too long to come out but the biriyani was very tasty, the keema (mince) was nice too but I felt the chef forgot to put salt in. I asked 3 diff waiters for salt and none of them felt the urgency to give it. Half way through our meal the salt finally arrives! I wouldn't really recommend or return to this place.

I had onion bhajees to start (they were MASSIVE) for mains I had chicken tikka with a side of garlic mushrooms (indian style not deep fried) and pashwari naan with salad. Tikka was amazing. Soft chicken - spiced just how i like it. Lovely food, atmosphere and service. Restaurant is clean and nice size. Will be returning.

Having been to this restaurant on a banquet night a couple of times before I was looking forward to good value, reasonable quality, Indian food. I was very disappointed. The food, although hot, very hot, like it had been over-microwaved was not good. My Bombay Aloo was a soggy mess, more akin to porridge, which again leads me to believe they had microwaved it to death. The Chicken Rogon Josh was just tasteless. My wife was just as unimpressed with her food. We have both had very upset stomachs this morning. The waiter's were abrupt at best, bordering on being rude, their attitude was awful. My wife and I have been coming here since it opened - at least twice a month for getting on for 10 years now so that's got to be some recommendation. Whenever, we go anywhere else in the UK or in Milton Keynes, we always base how good our experience was in comparison with the Purple Mango. The food is almost always excellent (we've tried pretty much the entire menu!) and the service is very friendly. On occasions, it can get a bit busy on certain evenings and say, a couple of staff members are ill or something but that's true everywhere and if you want high quality fresh produce not just something frozen and heated up, then it's well worth any wait. Anyway, the other Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants in MK that are at similar level are the Grange, Calcutta Brasserie and the Jaipur but all of these are generally more expensive.Last night (Tuesday) I had poppadums (the best in UK let alone MK), butterfly prawn (excellent) and for main, the chef's special, which is the sort of meal the chef and waiters eat at home - it's amazing with prawns, lamb, chicken, chickpeas and spinach in a lovely sauce. Incidentally, they have 'buffet' nights where you can get 4 courses for £9.99. The chef special isn;t on those nights but you could ask for it anyway and they may oblige although you'd have to pay more....I think the buffet nights are Wed, Thurs and Sunday. Even though it's a restricted menu, they still use the same fresh, high quality ingredients which is really what makes all the difference....other great dishes (in my opinion) are the Lamb Lazeez with cheese and the wild duck massala. If you want something hotter, then I can recommend their Jalfrezi's and Chilli Tikkas but be warned on their madras as it is made fairly mild (as they make it to be tasty rather than just 'hot') so either ask for it hotter than normal or go for the vindaloo if you want that kick.....

However they dealt with it very well so no complaints. I would still recommend this restaurant. It's also still looking very tidy. it was busy and that as always is a reflection of how good it is. Well done to the staff and managers there in an area with tough competition for Indian food.

I love indian food and a weekend away with my wife will nearly always entail a trip for a curry. We were staying in Milton Keynes to visit Bletchley Park and tried Purple Mango without a reservation. It was busy but not full and we were seated straight away. The room has a sunken, circular section in the centre and we were overlooking this. The food was hot, tasty and well presented. Atmosphere was good and it was fairly priced. The only odd part about the night was the waiter that started telling us how much money he had and that he was only serving tables because he liked people. Seemed a bit odd to share his personal financial circumstances with total strangers! Anyway, that aside, I'd recommend Purple Mango.

I have eaten here many times, and always had excellent food and fantastic service, at what I consider very good value for money. The table set up is very good, and the decor creates a good atmosphere. I will eat there in the future, as it is something to look forward too, it is that good.

Purple Mango offers an unusual interior design and lighting and more importantly a menu that you won't find in any other Indian restaurant in or around Milton Keynes. It's clean, lively and the staff are really friendly. They organised a special meal there on my wedding day and let my friend decorate the tables and provide champagne!

I visited the Purple Mango Indian restaurant in Walnut Tree Milton Keynes with my two daughters on Sat 21 Jul 12. The waiters were very attentive and pleasant. The food was really tasty and the ambience of the place was very warm and welcoming. Would thoroughly recommend the whole experience.

This used to be my local and was very fortunate to have such an excellent Indian restraunt near me. Food is excellent, service is excellent and friendly and great value food. In my top 3 Indian restraunts. When I occasionally return to Milton Keynes I always make sure I come back and eat here.

Great food and service. We ordered the banquet and the food kept coming. All the different dishes filled our large, round table. Ideal if you have never had Indian food before or are a little naive on the choices available. Everything was fantastic, even dishes I didn't think I would like were wonderful. All the little touches, like the orange slices, sweets and hot towels, made this an experience to remember. But there was so much food I had to ask for a doggy bag to take the rest home. The staff brought the leftovers to me in plastic containers to take home. There were four of us, all the food including drinks came to £80, Bargain.

We have eaten here many times since this restaurant opened and never once have we been disappointed. There is a good selection of food and it is always freshly cooked and very tasty. The onion Bhajee's and Peshwari Naans are the best we have ever tasted. There is a good selection of interesting pickles. The price is reasonable and the service is efficient and welcoming. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and has a nice ambience about it. We are very lucky that it is close to where we live and we can walk to the restaurant. We have tried many other Indian restaurants but none have come a close 2nd to the Purple Mango. Do not hesitate to try you will not be disappointed.

I don't often post bad reviews, but this place was awful. Inexperienced staff produced greasy poppadoms, and massively over-spiced food, making it far too hot to eat. I have a feeling the staff in there were new. I have seen good reviews, which is why I chose it. £135 for five people should get you something special. Not here.

Used to come here a lot, but following a refurbishment and then a pandemic, it's been a long time. I used to love being able to "design" my burrito by following along as they created it (no slaw for me please, although extra cheese, mango chutney, oh and black beans) but that's all gone. Now, a chicken mughlai burrito was exactly that, as is, and even the idea that I didn't want slaw was enough to raise eyebrows amongst the staff (who might I add were really not at all friendly, in contrast to staff from years gone by who were always really friendly and had a great approach to customer service). In addition to our very "as-is" burritos, we also got wrapchos. There used to be such a delicious side. Nachos with generous lashings of cheese sauce, optional salsa and jalapenos. I used to opt out of salsa and jalapenos as a matter of preference, but I didn't get that option, and beyond this whole "no customisation" thing they've got going on, the "generous" amount of cheese seems to be a thing of the past. The cheese was incredibly sparse - I've never known anything like it. Things were already going pretty bad, but that hadn't prepared me for what was to come. The burrito was ok. No where near as good as what we used to have, but it was fine. That is, at least, until in the second half, I've bitten down into ligament. This had me heaving, but forgivingly, I just spat it out discreetly and put it to a side, then moved on, putting it down to a one off error. I carried on eating until suddenly I'd bitten down on bone. Two different instances in different parts of the burrito - the quality of the meat preparation by this point is clearly questionable. To be clear, wrap chic was once one of mine and husband's favourite places to go for a quick bite. We would always rave to the people around us about how good it was. Today's visit? This wasn't wrapchic. I don't know what's happened, but this is not that same place we loved for so long, what feels like so long ago now.

Bang average food, heavily overpriced food! Rude staff. Imagine having to pay £20 for the smaller mixed grill of your life. Never ordering from here again. Avoid at all costs. Go to Bollywood junction instead it’s only 2 mins drive from this garbage
