Very disappointing experience. Had high hopes from walking past a few times and smelling how nice the food must be. There were only 4 groups in the restaurant and they decided to sit us all together in one small area despite the place being empty. The food was so painfully average it hurt. I've had nicer curries from a microwave. The naan was probably 1cm 'thick'. Can't fault the waiting staff but it was hard to be bad given how quite it was. I went to the toilet at the end of the meal and one of the chefs all but pushed past me on the stairs and didn't say sorry. Won't be coming back.

Friday night dinner was amazing! The restaurant seemed quite quiet but we can’t understand why. Service was excellent. Friendly helpful staff who were knowledgeable and polite. A great variety on the menu and some dishes I had never heard of. We had Delhi Papri and Scallops with Mussels as starters and they were both so tasty. The scallops were cooked perfectly! For main we had garlic chilli chicken and we tried Laal Mass. Both were really full of flavour with very tender meat. The garlic and coriander naan was the best I have ever had. The restaurant was also beautifully decorated and furnished. Would highly recommend!

Disappointing. This was our second visit and first time it was lovely. However this time was very different. I was barely able to open the menu as it was covered with dried food and the pages stuck together and consequently my hands. We had 2 starters and 2 mains which cost near £80 and I was ill the next day.we won't be back

When Maaya first opened I thought it was great. The service was good, the quality of the food was good and I would recommend it to other people looking for a good Indian. That does not translate over to their delivery service. I found the quality of food to be subpar at best. The portion sizes were small, the tandori chicken was cremated and the naan bread tasted stale, like it had been microwaved from the previous day. When I spoke to the manager they gave me 50% off the next order, so we gave them another chance a month or two after. Sadly the same problems were there and this time I had pieces of dry naan bread. I have since given up using them

Never been compelled to review before, but this was actively a bad experience. Swift service, but that was it. Food with average to below average (especially for the "chief special") . No one ever stopped by, so I only got one drink. Had to ask to pay at the bar after waiting 20min. I genuinely wish I could get the 1hr I spent there back. For reference, I've spent the past 4 weeks in MK for work and eat all my meals out. Plenty of better options for Indian food, I wouldn't go back.

My wife and I had dinner at Maaya Indian Kitchen,MiltonKeynes last night. We have eaten there several times before and always found the food and service of the highest quality. I had Railway Mutton Curry, which was absolutely delicious. My wife and I finished off with coffee, brandy and a Baileys. The brandy was served in a flat bottomed, thick glass, which is not really the best way to serve brandy but I didn't really mind as the rest of the food and service was exceptional. When we had finished, the owner came over and asked me if the staff had served my brandy in a heated brandy glass? I said no but that it was fine. The owner then apologised for the staff serving the brandy in this this way and gave us a further 2 coffees, a brandy (served in a heated brandy glass) and a Baileys to thanks for our custom. Need I say more? That's what I call service?

Beautiful decor and fresh naans. Unfortunately in our experience that was all. I had to ask 3 times to try the Malbec as I wanted to buy a bottle and I kept getting the same response “ yes I’ll get you a small 125ml glass”. Not 10 minutes after ordering food arrived, we hadn’t even started to eat and the waiter came asking if everything is okay with the food which I said I haven’t began yet. She didn’t come to ask again. chicken was of a weird chewy texture but decided not to bring it to their attention. Decided to finish the bottle and leave without getting dessert. Waiters kept looking over and whispering to each other, kept coming over every 2 minutes to take a fork, a glass, a napkin every time. Manager came over to speak about nothing really and whilst he done that a waiter slipped us the bill we didn’t ask for yet. 5 minutes later she comes over and says she’s going to top up our glasses without asking ( if that had happened from the start I’d understand but you don’t fill a glass of red wine to the top) and then she took the empty bottle. Another 2 minutes passed and she came again to take the water that we hadn’t finished either. Overall we were rushed but not because they were busy and in need of tables as it was less than half full. In my experience it was not authentic or hospitable not because they were rude to our faces but their actions throughout were not professional.

Avoid! They have a ludicrous policy of requiring one main course to be ordered per head, whether you need it or not. They have the fine print only in the menu and point it out when asked. You don't see it online while booking a table. The food is mediocre at best, and the portions tiny. I can see why they have such low ratings - clearly for the lack of customer empathy, the mediocre food, and the process that go with them.

On collecting our food from the restaurant the guy was quite abrupt, telling his staff off in front of all, no please, no thank you..but took my money ! The food was not that great either, the chicken in the massala was quite tough and hard to chew, the keema nan had seen very little keema and was too dry and hard around the edges and tough to eat. On a last note, if you really need to scold your staff, do it away from customers, and learn that manners cost nothing,

Came here with my family a few days ago for an early Father's Day dinner and we had a very pleasant experience! The restaurant was beautifully decorated and furnished. The only downside was that the lighting was slightly dark for most of our party's liking so we were feeling sleepy at times and at some point in the evening, when the restaurant was pretty much full, it got a bit warm so some of us went outside for a breath of fresh air. We couldn't fault the food though, our starters, mains to our desserts and Indian chai teas were lovely! The staff were very attentive, warm and welcoming too. I will definitely want to visit some time again soon! Definitely worth more than the 3.8 stars they have been rated on here! (I was worried at first and wondered if I'd made the right decision to book a Father's Day meal here but it's safe to say, I needn't have to worry).

Ignored by waiting staff when we arrived. Only when manager noticed were we brought papadums and dips (he had a go at two of them). Food brilliant. We had the banquet. Waiting staff bad throughout - banging dishes down on the table, not clearing empty plates, etc . Finally, a service charge of £27 added to the bill. This was, the manager said, to tip the waiting staff. I refuse to be told when and then how much to tip. Reluctantly taken off the bill. For this reason we will not return.

Nice restaurant. Pleasant service that is non-interactive. Throughout dining there was a freezing cold draft every time the door was open as the manager insists on having the front door open - what is the purpose of a porch? On leaving no one said goodbye, no one opened the door for us. The Thali is over priced - pot of pieces of salad (1 cucumber, 1 tomato slice), one rice, few bits of bread (very salty), one pot with a lump of chutney, and other meat dishes that were obviously mixed from my partners dishes they were so similar. I would price this at about £13 for a Thali in Maaya, not £20. The food here is how all Indian restaurants should be cooking, its just as it should be for anglified typical dishes. The reason they do so well is because many other restaurants in the area don't have a clue how to cook their dishes. Over all expensive for what I consider a good standard meal.

When we 1st arrived 1/06/24 we walked in to smell burning rice ayyy who doesn’t burn rice hmmm any ways the manager who assume was manger with white shirt was hurrying us along by saying. so we all want the tea erm mate we only just got there. When asking what the tea is he abruptly told me to WAIT, Some polite customer service is needed for this guy not just that when he finally came over he cleared his throat loud and said are we listening at that point I wanted to say ayyy we are grown women who you talking to common there are allot of use speak to use with manners spending money there when he said so I was like what ever as I didn’t expect that response. If it wasn’t for my friends bday I would have walked out and said nothing at all. The place was not busy they forgot the kids drinks and food. I asked for a drink after 20mins I asked again and when I got it the guy in the white came over again no one was with him I said excuse me he said WAIT I was shocked man this guys rude I thought it was just me but 4 others said wow. The manger or who ever he was in white went outside leaving the door open smoking smell coming in and with my daughter and the kids saying there cold. Even if you invited me and said it’s FREE I would tell you HELL NO Only good part was cheese cake the afternoon tea well if you have no taste buds by all means go for it. The only dish part from cheese cake was chicken dish part from that I would not I return to eat from this place think about weather you want to eat bland food People forgetting you Rude manger Smoking Leaving door open kids cold Bland food Oh will tell you the other waiters was nice when they forgot something they was nice about it said sorry. Nice selection of cocktails and staff were friendly but also seemed a bit frazzled and impatient at times. Not many vegan options, for example I really wanted the mushroom rice but it contained ghee so I could only go with the plain steamed.

Visited yesterday with a friend biggest problem was food it self - you cannot serve dry overcooked stale meat: the Gilafi Seekh was dense and dry from the dinosaur era - served ice cold. Tandoori chicken was tough to chew and tougher to digest (over spiced to hide the lack of freshness). The Malai chicken might have been tandoor roasted but it was 100% microwave heated and then served cold!!! The service was not much better pushing us for drinks but when I asked for something from the tandoor / grill this person stared into the abyss - had no idea - pathetic how can you not know your own menu. Never came to ask how the meal was but yes quick to add a service charge!!! Sorry Maya, Indian food is not that complicated or difficult, stop recycling your food and throw that microwave away - remember the key to good food is fresh ingredients it’s really that simple you should give it a try !

I nearly cancelled our reservation at this restaurant after reading both Google and Tripadvisor reviews bitv I am glad that I did not do so. The food and service were very good indeed, contrary to the reviews. I normally do not have a starter, but decided to have the soft crab which was a little disappointing compared to other restaurants where I have eaten it. However, my mains, the Railway curry and sides of bhindi, chana, mushrooms and pilau rice were sensational. Had I not had the starter I would have given the food a 5* rating instead of 4*. The service was also very good, not sure why some reviews were so negative. This restaurant was buzzing and full on a Thursday evening with people still arriving when we left. No symptoms the next day either like some reviews, must have been the Food and Hygiene 5 rating! I will definitely go back there... but not have a starter, and go straight for mains!

DONT GO !!! I went to Maaya for dinner and I had the most unpleasant experience of all the restaurants I have dined at in Milton Keynes. They claim to be serving Indian but it is nowhere near. I had their Special Thali which was a disaster. Only the naan and papad were good. All that came with it were either stale or way off from what you would expect in an Indian cuisine (all the Mains were sweet, when questioned they justify it). I raised my concerns with the waitress who listened to all of it but did nothing further. They just don't seem to care. In short, Sad food, good ambience, customer service at its worst

Absolutely shocking, turned up and ask if there was availability to be told there was a 15-20min wait, fine no problem. Came back after around half hour so left extra time.. to then be told nothing was ready and to wait just a short time because they were finishing up! Another 30mins past bear in mind I'm waiting this with a 5 year old child. So i approach the man for him to tell me it now could take 'any time' and he can't make promises! Absolutely appalling! Would never eat here or recommend to anyone staff are just inconsiderate and there for your money only!!! Do not go!

I’ve been to Maaya quite few times and it never disappoints. Food is delicious, staff friendly and accommodating, restaurant clean and very nicely decorated. I had Thali (which on Sundays is £14.95 per person), which is a mixture of few different curries with rice, bread, pickles and salad; it’s a great alternative to buffet, having few different options, freshly served to you.

Dear All. We read the reviews before booking this place. They seemed good. We got to the restaurant and was delighted to be sat in a great atmosphere, good decor comfortable seating table. We ordered our meal for four. Slowly the drinks came and our starters. The first round of starters were good. Then the second part of our starters arrived. We were not impressed. The poppadoms were over cooked, and too oiley. The onion bargies were under cooked. My drink never arrived. Only 3 out of 4 did. We asked the waiter to get the manager. Who took like forever to arrived. We stated our concerns to the manager We thought he took it on board. I think it went over his head. We got new rounds of starters. They were not eatable. So here we go again. Asked waiter to get the manager. This time. The same manager glanced over and gave that look like not you again. He started entertaining some new dinners and showing then to a table. So we asked for another manager. He was polite. We told him, we know what good food should be. As we have eaten in many Indian restaurants before. Upon the high manager talking to us. He said we can get some new starters made as our main courses haven't been started to cook. We were not impressed. We cancelled our orders. Cheeky the manager said we owe him for all the starters. We agreed to pay the first round of starter. Not the second. Over Cook poppadoms and under cooked onion bargies. We will not be coming back again. Try the Bollywood Junction in Milton Keynes. Made to order authentic Indian food at half the price of Maaya.

We booked a table Saturday and had with us their 2-4-1 Main and 2-4-1 Cocktail voucher For use in January. On ordering our first drink I presented the voucher and the waiter acknowledged it and said to give it in at the end. A little while later on ordering our food with a different waiter I again presented the voucher and he explained how the voucher worked and took our food order. Later when requesting the bill I presented the voucher again and at this time THE WAITER THEN CAME BACK AND TOLD ME THAT THE VOUCHER COULD NOT BE USED ON A SATURDAY!!!! There were two occasions prior that someone could have advised us of this but did not mention this rule, it was even explained to me how the voucher worked and I was still not informed of this!! Found this to be somewhat deceitful and misleading.
