Considering Covid 19 protocol states tables should be sanitised between customers, we would have settled for the tables just being clean. Every table was dirty and no sign of staff cleaning them.

Stayed for 3 nights as a base when visiting the area - it’s in a good location for this, but otherwise a bit isolated, and stuck in the middle of a lorry park. The hotel is better than it looks at first site. The room was dated and basic but very clean - in fact the cleaning products in the bathroom literally took my breath away! The staff were few in number and worked very hard - but they were all extremely friendly and helpful. We ate twice in the restaurant as there was nothing else around, and I was very impressed with the food - all freshly cooked and very tasty. Much better than I expected. The only negative was the hard bed - which wasn’t very comfy!

Arrived with a booking but told not booked when the receptionist could be bothered to look up. Not happy! Got the impression we weren’t wanted as dressed in workwear and not a suit and tie. Might have been a different story.!

There are some outdated features within the rooms that could do with some tlc, such as the showers, which are not the best as they kept going hot and cold, the rooms are clean and dog-friendly, and a reasonable price. An excellent breakfast is included in the price. Would recommend.

Had a stop off for a quick lunch and pint here. The food was fine with good friendly service. It's okay and is on the busy main road.

Rooms rather cramped and somewhat tired but adequate. Breakfast a bit limited and the waitress was rather unfriendly. Ok value though. Not much to do in the immediate environs as its by the busy road and a lorry park.

I have just returned from a lovely weekend with 11 friends and we stayed for 2 nights at the Purdy lodge. What a lovely friendly hotel, the staff were very friendly, we had large rooms which were very clean and well presented. We ate at the hotel on the first night and had a very nice meal. Great value food. Lovely bar area. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice. Excellent location even though it was on the main road the room was quiet with beautiful views. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel.

I have been stopping at Purdy Lodge with my family for several years when travelling. We mainly stop for breakfast. We have noticed a decline in quality over recent visits, but I think our most recent visit is likely to be our last. The pots of tea were barely large enough for a single cup, and at approximately £2.30 each this seems unreasonably dear. In the past I have asked for HP sauce and always given a bottle to use. This time I was given two satchets of a poor inferior brand. Previously there was marmalade and jam available for the toast, sadly there was none at all on the shelf. The tea cakes also seem to have shrunk, two days previous to this visit we bought one for the same price elsewhere, that was almost double in size. Although the prices have never been cheap for a truckers stop/cafe the quality and quantity made it reasonable value, this is no longer the case. On most previous visits there were plenty of other customers, we have even had to wait for a table on occasion. This time the place was almost entirely empty, just two other customers. Not surprising really. Shame.

Caffe Piazza doesn't exist anymore, it is now called THE PIG IN MUCK, and it's a great place for a visit

Amazing Sunday dinner, served so quickly by wonderfully friendly staff - the beef was beautifully tender and the vegetables were well seasoned. The place was full of happy customers!

This cafe in Hexham has a great atmosphere for a supermarket cafe. The staff are friendly and the food is great.
