Beautiful pub with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Food was delicious! Staff were so lovely. We look forward to visiting again in the summer.

Very over priced and mediocre food. £20 for small fish and chips that was nothing special at all and £6.95 for a pint of Guinness. When did Cornwall become such a rip off? Wouldn't recommend.

Came here again on Saturday for my mum's birthday. As always, lovely welcome from the staff, food was lovely. I had the scampi, which was delicious, but they didn't do a regular size and only a small plate size. I asked if they could do a regular size and i was told I would be charged for 2 sml plates but put onto one plate. It was delicious, but £26.00 for a regular Scampi was quite steep. The fish and chips and steak were all delicious as well. The staff are always so accommodating and friendly, wonderful atmosphere. So nice to have this lovely pub back to how it use to be.

Booked for a large group with adults and young children (16total) which was easy online and confirmed quickly with menu details to preorder from. Slightly frustrating that after providing choices we were then asked to use a different menu and provide new choices within 24hrs. Upon arrival the team were welcoming and sat us at a great table giving us all the space we needed. The atmosphere was great and the team were friendly and helpful with food arriving in good time. Food was great for all choices -from homemade chicken goujans for the kids to some exceptional fries and burgers for the adults. Strong selection of vegetarian and vegan options was well received. We would return, but only as a small enough group to not have to preorder, as the poor communication/changes around this were frustrating on our side (though I completely understand the benefits of preorder re wait times and ease for the pub).

Great food at sensible prices that accommodates vegan and vegetarian without requiring to processed junk. But the service is very slow. It feels like the senior staff are likely in the kitchen creating great work but front of house are nonchalant staff who seem not to know much about what they are serving or what is expected of them. They are not very accommodating. Dogs are welcome.

Had a catch up with friends for Sunday lunch on 22/12/24. The roasts we had were amazing. Even had a guy playing the piano in the background. Highly recommend and will be returning.

This is just a lovely pub/restaurant. The staff are top notch, the food is very, very good and the atmosphere is very convivial. The quiz on Thursday nights is a lot of fun too.

Delicious food and good selection of wines when I visited with family in October. Staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, a proper country pub. It’s great that they also have music there. Would definitely 👍🏻 recommend 💯

Really fantastic food in a great pub, highly recommend. I've been to a lot of St Austell brewery pubs that all serve the same menu but the standard of the food here is by far the highest. The chef really should be given a raise!!

A late booking but we experienced great, super friendly service and wonderful food from the new autumn menu. Mussels with Lobster sauce and goat’s cheese parfait followed by sweet potato and chick pea curry and whole plaice. Really fantastic. Thank you.

One of my favourite pubs in the area / in Cornwall. We recently dropped in last minute for an incredible Sunday roast with a beautiful piano performance in the background. The service is always excellent every time we go and the staff are genuinely so friendly. It’s also a big bonus they love dogs and have complimentary treats to keep the little rascal at bay. Visited today for the first time with a friend. Really impressed with the quality of the Sunday roast - tender beef, crispy Yorkshires and excellent gravy. Couldn’t resist the Bailey’s crème brûlée for pudding. Staff all very friendly and efficient. Will definitely come again, there were too many lovely things on the menu for just one meal!

Rang to booked for a Sunday lunch at short notice, managed to squeeze us in. Had the most amazing meals, partner had roast beef I had the veggie option, the vegetables were lovely, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud and super tasty gravy, wish we lived local would be there every week! Super efficient friendly staff, offers of more veg and gravy. Also dog friendly a bonus when your travelling with your furry friends.

Booked for a special occasion as was on holiday in the area. Waited 15 minutes before a drinks order was taken. Took to going to the bar to ask. Very disappointed with the service received. Was met with a sour faced older lady who did nothing to make us feel welcome. Considering we spent £160 on a primarily one course lunch we left feeling we were just an inconvenience. Would never visit again. Very overpriced with poor service. What a let down for my sons 18th birthday.

Great food and hospitality I shall return

Went on a date night last weekend with the hubby. First time we tried here, the waitress was so welcoming and didn't mind stopping for a chat with with us. Food was excellent. I had brushcetta to start which was fresh and tasty followed by steak which is one of the best ones I've had and a baileys creme brulee for pudding, this was perfect and a great size not one of these small pots. One of the best meals I've had for a very long time. Will be back for a Sunday roast and to join the Xmas festivities. See you soon

Sunday roast was really good. Friendly service and lovely ambience. It’s a great country style pub - perfect after a walk at trelissick with the kids and dog.

We had a meal here last Friday and we had great service with a smile from the manager Annabelle and all the waiting staff. The food was delicious,served perfectly in good time.so pleased with our experience will be visiting for Sunday lunch, looking forward to it.

A large venue yet felt cosy and comfortable a nice atmosphere the young lady who served was very helpful, and advice on things to see in the areas I was visiting the area for few days, plus a local resident chatted which was nice as I was eating and drinking alone

My wife and I often pop to the punch bowl for a drink after a walk but haven’t been for food in a while. We visited for a roast dinner last Sunday and it was one of the best we’ve ever eaten! (Not something I say lightly as a frequent enjoyer of the dish 😂) The beef was an absolute joy, one of the most tender I’ve ever eaten and the roast potatoes were beautiful. It was all very lovely and I’d heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a really nice Sunday dinner made with great local produce. Also recommend the sticky toffee pudding, light and tasty but as rich as it should be with a scoop of local ice cream. Delicious! Just don’t believe your partner when they say “I’m full I won’t have any” you will need two deserts, or at least two spoons! Great service and fair pricing make the punch bowl one of the best locally. Thanks folks. 👍🏼

An excellent pub/restaurant. Great friendly staff, good food, good range of beers and wines, a large car park. It gets busy here, so it’s best to reserve.

We had family visiting this weekend and booked a late Sunday lunch at one of our favourites. Good move! Great food and drinks, lovely atmosphere, which was helped by the live music, and good service, especially from the waitress with the northern mum and Scottish dad (didn't get her name). We called as passing, asked for a table for dinner. The lovely lady assistant checked, showed us to a table and took our drinks order all in a matter of a few minutes. This is a beautiful, old traditional country inn, with thatched roof. It has been thoughtfully renovated, decorated and extended. It's is a very busy inn , serving a varied menu of both food and drinks. Booking is highly recommended. Our food was freshly prepared and served quickly. It was excellent in taste, presentation and cooking. A very pleasant meal. I had the dressed crab as shown in the photo, my partner had fish and chunky chips. Dog and child friendly. A free car park and disabled access. This inn is popular with locals and tourists.

We came here a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch as everywhere in Falmouth was fully booked so thought we would try the punchbowl and it didn't disappoint rang up got a table booked no problems staff were excellent friendly and very helpful too we all opted for roast beef which was absolutely amazing indeed we had a dog friendly section which was good as we had 4 dogs with us well worth the visit will definitely be visiting again thanks guys you were amazing. 👍👍😊😊

Lovely relaxing place great food

Lovely local pub with good menu including seafood. Pizza was first class tonight: served hot and fresh with a delicious, edible base. Good Malbec red wine too, served at ambient temperature in a thin-walled glass.

We booked as it was for my birthday. This information was put on the booking table notes. Unfortunately, no mention was made of this on arrival or during our meal. The food was good, but the waiting staff seemed more interested in chatting than attending to the customers in the dining room.

We had an excellent Sunday Lunch with very attentive staff, delicious food, very pleasant surroundings and unusually a large amount of room between dining tables so that you weren't hearing other people's conversations or feeling that you had no room to move! The weather was great too and many people were enjoying a leisurely drink outside before/after their lunch whilst listening to a keyboard player providing unobtrusive backing music.

A lovely "chocolat box" village pub. Interesting interior too. I had the surf and turf burger, it was moist, tasty, and filling. The Tribute Ale was well kept too. All polished off with a nice house Malbec.

Had a reasonably good dinner. Food was pretty good and plenty of it. Staff were very good and friendly and eager to help. Had a couple of very good pints of cider. There was a quiz night going on while we were there which appeared to be very well attended. There's a good sized car park so parking wasn't a problem. Would recommend

We are on holiday and called in here. I had the chicken supreme and it was amazing. One of the tastiest meals I’ve had in a long time. Disappointed they didn’t have the strawberry cheesecake but I had the chocolate brownie instead and it was very light and delicious. Would definitely come here again.

Visited at the weekend with family for Sunday roast. The food did not disappoint, lots of it and cooked perfectly. The staff were very attentive and it was lovely to have some live entertainment and be able to sit outside in the sun.

WOW! We found this pub by accident just driving round, decided to stop for a drink, after seeing the food coming out the kitchen, we decided to have a roast dinner, it was fantastic, the atmosphere, friendly staff and incredible food, 100% recommend, we will be back!!!

Stumbled across this great place. Superd atmosphere, divine food.

We were recommend the Punchbowl and Ladle through a guestbook of where we were staying. We both fancied a Sunday roast so we thought why not let’s book it. Only a 10min drive so super convenient and the menu online looked very appealing. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left all the staff were very attentive. We both went for the beef roast and we honestly were like WOW. It honestly was unreal, and that cheesecake was melt in the mouth delicious. If we are ever visiting again we will make a detour back here and try something else from the menu. The food, staff and atmosphere really was 10/10 ⭐️

This is one of the very best places to eat near Truro. Superb food all locally sourced and prepared by excellent chef. Generous portions. Especially Sunday Roasts. Dogs very welcome.

This lovely pub instantly became our local while we were holidaying in the area. The atmosphere and vibe are so welcoming, the staff are brilliant - friendly, good banter, recognised us when we returned, and the food just perfect. As a cider drinker I was well catered for. While watching the football there was a truly family friendly atmosphere. We shall return!

Friendly welcome. Enjoyed the drink and food but I thought the menu was pretty restricted. I.e. gravy meal with veg, curry, chilly, meat pie, sausages- I could go on.

I recently ate dinner at The Punchbowl and Ladle and though the food was okay, fairly similar to other St. Austell pubs, they service was shocking. My Korean Fried Chicken burger would have been better without the coleslaw which completely overpowered the gochujang to produce an unbalanced mess. What I find shocking however was the establishment's unethical pricing, with an affogato priced far more than a scoop of ice cream and double espresso bought separately. When asked about this our server simply replied "Well people haven't figured that out." This flippant dismissal demonstrates that they have no qualms ripping off their customers and clearly have no respect towards their clients.

We came to see our favourite folk artist Jenna Witt's performing at the pub. She was brilliant. The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff were very friendly, professional and attentive. The waitresses all looked very smart in their outfits. The food was delicious and exceptionally well cooked and presented. Our dog daisy was made very welcome. The car park was large with plenty of spaces. We will definitely return again in the future.

Found the food very basic without much flavour.,and expensive for what it was. Ate outside, but food was cool on arrival. Staff were pleasant. Pub and surrounding area attractive but would not eat there again.

Lovely traditional pub, we only stopped for drinks on a very rainy day. The staff is really nice and the pub is very dog friendly.

Lovely staff, delicious food what more can you want. We had the squid and mackerel rillete for starters - both were delicious. Then steak frites and steak pie for main, again delicious. Good beer too. Would definitely recommend them and will definitely go again next time we’re in Cornwall.

Great place for lunch. We attended as part of a family wedding celebration and everyone was well looked after. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Children's menu was good and they were great at accomodating any changes. Thanks very much!

Lovely pub in a great location. Brilliant staff members, shame the food was very average with a limited menu. £17 for a mass produced steak pie and mash, which was served luke warm.

The food was good and the staff wonderful. We had to change our table time at the last minute and they were very accomodating. It's a great place for lunch, it wasn't our first time and won't be the last. Highly recommend.

Beautiful place, wonderful food and super staff!

The Punchbowl is a lovely old pub, full of character. The barman was friendly and excellent at his job. We didn't try the food, hence the score. Disappointingly for me there was no Guinness only Mena Dhu which I find horrible.
