Now what wonderful superlatives can I say about this fine establishment that hasn't already been waxed lyrical about in such works by Yeats, Byron et al. Well, blooming marvelous would be one and yes, Derek Trotter from Only Fools and Horses would have loved it. The ambiance of this quaint cafe is sublime, a heady mix of rushing train passengers, mixed in with a few less desirable types of course, and I don't mean the staff! I plumped for the 'latte' a packet of salt and vinegar hand cut crisps and a white bread ham sandwich. Total price £15.52, a bargain, again, Del Boy would have been in his element. I sat down inside on a vintage pleather seat, complete with original fabric tears. The latte was all I expected and more, not being a fan of espresso, I was glad it was over half a pint of predominantly foamed milk, at least my heart rate was in check after such little caffeine, thank you Pumpkin. My sandwich was how you'd expect, doughy, hammy and a delight, my best friend is a chef and he always says you know the quality of a sandwich if you can squyit to a millimetre and it won't bounce back, again, well done pumpkin 5* Unfortunately I only had 12 mins of time to eat my meal as I had to rush for the 10:20 to Liskeard. The crisps were the bonus I needed for making my train on time. I hope these original, unique station cafés continue to thrive, if only to keep the memories of the age of steam and The Railway Children alive. Thank you Pumpkin Cafe for making my pre train journey one I will never forget and cherish forever.

recently visite whilst waitng for a delayed train. Whilst waiting and drinking my latte i looked over the reviews for this place. Comments of "small", " no atmosphere", or "rushed" came up and i feel these are slightly unfair. My medium vanilla latte was very nice and made quickly, yes there aren't many seats and yes there isn't really an atmosphere to the place, BUT. Whe all is said and done this is a fast paced station coffe shop with, i imagine, very few sit down customers as most are just passing through. The staff make your drinks quickly, efficiently and with a smile and a short happy exchange of converstaion. Should a station coffee shop really be required to have large comfy sofa's and soft music playing to create atmosphere? or just good quality coffee made quickly? Personally i was more than happy with my coffee and service.

While waiting for a train to Falmouth in the rain, I stopped in this, the only cafe at truro station, for some lunch. It has a tiny seating area, with tables pushed close to each other. A selection of rather over-priced sandwiches and toasties were available. I had a mozzarella and spinach toastie, which was about average in terms of quality. I took the only seat available, which meant I was sitting right next to a pair of strangers. Given that this is the only eatery at the station, it really could improve the quality and value of its fare, and the atmosphere it provides for its customers.

Today at lunchtime I asked for a cappuccino coffee, while I was waiting a man rushed in saying a hot chocolate was missing from his order. I was happy to wait at a table while the staff member made his drink. My order was brought to the table - the lady had brought over a hot chocolate by mistake - I had plenty of time and waited again for the cappuccino. Then another drink was brought over to me. 'Hello here is your hot chocolate' . I explained again that I had ordered coffee - then the staff member got angry - I made you a coffee earlier - fine I will make ANOTHER one for you ! Her work colleague then came over to me and argued they had made me a coffee and I was rude when I asked for a refund ( lovely experience in front of other customers ). I was given a refund - chucked in my hand without a word. So wrong order twice - " incompetent, angry members of staff - Wonderful experience !

I usually stock up with a cup of tea from PC before embarking on a train journey....since train buffet cars aren't always open. Earl Grey is one of the options & the staff member kindly made mine milky, as I like it. It's very hot in the paper cup so I didn't start supping until we were some way up the line!

Undrinkable 'tea' - & served in paper cups that scald your hands after about 20 yards - appalling. Couldn't drink and it was all I had on a hot train. How many cups of tea are they making out of one tea bag?

Thankfully only went in for bottled water! Woman behind counter, sneezed, then blew her nose and whilst still holding this tissue in her hand, proceeded to put a poor soul’s sandwich in the toaster with her hands, and touched the sandwich with the tissue!!!!! I felt sick!!!!

Bought a hot chocolate and it was all foam so basically paid for a large but ended up with the equivalent of a small. Staff were friendly though.

Staff seemed friendly and the place was quite big with a good amount of seating however it did look quite run down and needs a revamp but the service was good and one of the staff members was sweeping up every now and then to keep the place clean.

Average railway station food. Nothing special and very little choice for vegetarians. I do find it strange that you have no salt and pepper available for customers. You don't have a Michelin Star, so it is very unlikely that the food will be perfectly seasoned and salt/pepper may well be required.

I visited this cafe as I was travelling for work. The lady serving was rude and snide when I accidentally took my card out of the machine too soon - an honest mistake - and had to do the transaction again. A little geniality wouldn't go amiss! Rubbish selection of food too.

No soya milk available for those with allergies and they started kicking people out before they'd finished their drinks. Wouldn't use again.

Queued then waited for ten minutes at the counter for lukewarm and unpleasant coffee, £20 for 5 drinks. Not impressed

After a very long wait in the queue(12 mins) I polietly asked if the Frappe on the menu board was available to which the assistant snapped you will have to wait! At least she didn't say no like she had to the previous customer who asked for an iced mocha. While waiting in the queue I noticed that any food that needed to be heated - either sweet or savoury were done on the same ( not very clean looking) baking try. Its been several years since I was in catering but surely this is bad hygiene practice.

The Brunel Inn is quite good and they make lots of food and it's so good so I recommend going there!

Just tried to pay with cash which the machine wouldn't take. I waved (nicely)at a member of staff who approached my direction and promptly started talking to a friend while ignoring me. I didn't want to make a fuss so just walked out. I've been in customer service all my life and always trained my staff to attend customers first. I've never felt so invisible.
