Bit of a last minute decision, but fancied a Sunday roast and the PotP usually delivers. As hoped for it was excellent. Almost too good as I had no room left for the apple pie and custard ☹️, maybe next time.

We came here to have a couple.of drinks and having seen the lovely looking food being served we decided to have dinner. It was a Sunday but we decided to order something different than the roast, which I might add looked amazing I opted for seabass and my husband had bangers and mash. The food came.out hot, generously portioned and really tasty. My dish was one of the best meals I've had for a long time. Compliments to the chef and the staff

Nice hotel but needs seriously updating and renovations. The hotel is very expensive far more than others in the area especially for Yarmouth it's actually cheaper in Brighton. We found the decor very outdated the carpet leading up to the bedrooms is over 20 years old and absolutely filthy. The tables in the bar/ restaurant have lost all their varnish and are very tatty some no longer have numbers on them. The rooms are alright but you no longer get free water. Once you pay for parking and food it's a very expensive night away costing over £250. The owners need to spend some money on the place quickly otherwise they will lose returning customers. Also the breakfast is very average with no fresh cut up fruit or croissants and not a proper cooked breakfast. Overall disappointing.

We were given a room for the night after a very bad experience at another so called hotel. They were very welcoming, the room was excellent, with working TV, very clean bathroom and bedroom. The bed was comfortable and clean and there were tea and coffee facilities and a kettle. Also a hairdryer. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Great Yarmouth, walking distance to the pier and restaurants. They also supplied us with a very enjoyable breakfast.

I recently visited Mermaid Bar with a friend, and what started as a promising evening quickly turned sour. We chose this pub specifically because we were looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a drink after a long walk with our dog. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Upon entering the pub, we were greeted by a friendly bartender who promptly took our order. We got our drinks, found a comfortable spot, and settled in, expecting to relax and enjoy the evening. However, our relaxation was short-lived. After just a few minutes, another staff member approached us and informed us that dogs were not allowed inside the pub. This came as quite a surprise, as there were no visible signs indicating a no-dog policy, and we had already bought our drinks without any mention of this rule. We politely explained that we had just purchased our drinks and there was no prior warning, but the staff member was unyielding and insisted we leave the premises. This was extremely disappointing. We felt unwelcome and inconvenienced, as we were now forced to finish our drinks quickly and find another place to go. The lack of clear communication and the abrupt manner in which we were asked to leave left a sour taste in our mouths. While the pub itself has a charming atmosphere and the drinks were reasonably priced, the unhelpful and inflexible attitude of the staff regarding our dog overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit. Clear signage and better customer service could have easily prevented this unpleasant experience. In summary, if you’re planning to visit Mermaid Bar with your furry friend, be warned: despite the initial welcoming vibe, the pub is not dog-friendly and the staff's approach to enforcing this policy is far from accommodating. We won’t be returning anytime soon.

First time staying at this hotel. We were here celebrating my step daughter’s 18th birthday with a family/friends party (held in the Green Room) Staff were fantastic, and our room was lovely spacious & clean, bed was really comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room too. Breakfast was made up of full English, cereals, pastries, meats and cheese’s plenty to choose from. Would like to thank all The staff that made our night a success.

This review concerns the pub section of the establishment, the "Pub on the Prom" (Hotel). Very nice, well-kept venue on the Yarmouth seafront. The cask selection isn't huge, but I easily found a beer I liked for lunch (Sharp's Hazy IPA). The menu isn't huge - one full page on food - and the prices aren't the cheapest for what is essentially "pub grub" - BUT, it's good pub grub, as the fish & chips I ordered turned out to be very good indeed. Solid portion, crispy and flaky, and for once the chips weren't undercooked and flabby, as they often are even at regular restaurants (and indeed most fish & chips shops) in Britain. I enjoyed my food very much, I enjoyed my drink, and more than anything I enjoyed sitting on the terrace looking out to the sea. Got quite busy at noon, but I got drinks and food in good time. Service was friendly and efficient. Very clean and modern toilets, too! Will visit again if possible.

We arrived at the bar for light dinner/evening meal. We were seated in the old bistro area which was pleasantly decorated and quite to allow us to enjoy our food. They let us have a table even though we had not booked which we thought was good they could fit us in, especially as it was a Friday night. The food itself was nice, the Camembert was fantastic! The children’s fish fingers were also brilliant, it felt more like battered cod which our son loved! He called it “proper fish from the sea”. After we had finished our food we then went into the bar area and sat outside on the seafront. This again was great and the atmosphere of the pub was lively, and a nice to place to be. Price wise it is also very reasonable and not too expensive. We would definitely recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone visiting Great Yarmouth seafront.

Was eating the amount of flies in the restaurant. ,we noticed there was a lot flying around all the tables ,we didn’t want them to land on our meals so we cover them with napkins until we got the cutlery ,but the sauces never came up but we was lucky to get the cutlery ,we noticed the amount of dead flies on the walls been left there ,also on the floors too ,the drinking glasses are very dirty we had to wipe ours with a napkin ,also the tablets are very sticky need a good wipe on top and under the sides too ,even on the toilets a hell lot of flies again flying around or dead on the walls ,don’t sit near the doors because they stand so near the doors smoking and you can smell it ,if you sit near these open doors both s of the pub/restaurant areas ,even at the bar it’s very sticky and lots flys on the bar ,some members of the staff could do with using under arm freshness ,or a clean top or wash ,

Ate here more than once, my daughter loved their toasted paninnis I asked for a plain jacket potatoe (as I had been glutened elsewhere) and was given one though it tasted a little odd like it'd had cheese in it!? On another visit I asked for gluten free yorkshire ham & chips staff member had to go ask if was definitely GF whilst another member of staff joked about "glutton-free" As I was sat waiting for the meal a member of staff came and said they couldn't guarantee the oil was GF, in the end I just ate what came and took my meds. I did feel "off" but if they did gluten me, sadly they weren't the first or only establishment that week that did. The indecision and joking about did put me off so neither myself nor my daughter went in again.

Situated at the northern end of the Grotty mile (sorry Golden mile), opposite the Pavilion Pier and surrounded by fast food outlets and fizz emporiums, I didn’t have a great deal of hope for this one, but it turned out to be a bit of an oasis surrounded by dross. It’s hard to find anything other than deep fried food an fizzy lager on the entertainment mile but the Mermaid Bar delivered well kept real ales and good traditional pub food. Technically the bar and restaurant of the prom hotel but it functions as a pub in its own right. Internally a spacious single room with a central bar but with several separate seating areas with a couple well tucked away. There are some external tables on the Princes Road side which are elevated and separated from the pavement by glass screens. They do catch the sun but only really have the Pavilion Pier as a vista. A fairly extensive traditional pub grub menu and as this was Sunday lunchtime three roasts were being advertised on the specials board above the fireplace. We went for the Beef roast and the scampi and they were both very good both in terms of quality and quantity. Very good service levels from both the table and bar staff. The bar has five real ale hand pumps with two obvious in the middle as you approach then three more at the far right end which are easily missed. For my visit all five were in operation with Lacons Encore Golden Ale, Wolf Brewery Golden Jackal, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Sharps Solar Wave and Doombar, and we went for the first two which were in very good condition. There are three flat screens dotted about which were muted but showing three different sports (cricket, tennis and motor racing), but they are at the far extremities of the pub and can be easily avoided if you are not interested. Another plus point for this one is the very plush upstairs toilets which would not be out of place in a posh London hotel.

Then I cut into my steak, which wasn't done how I requested. Spoke to staff who were brilliant and received another meal. Which was lovely. My only criticism is,it would have been even better if the manager or supervisor had come over to ask if it was ok. Considering the price of a meal. A little while back in Lowestoft s brand if weather spoon,we had the same problem. And the manager actually said would we like another meal or refund. So prom, please take note.

Lovely end to a day out in Yarmouth, we came in for a drink before heading home. The staff are friendly, and offered to being my drink to my table as I ordered a cocktail and saved me standing waiting at the bar. Good cocktail and mocktail menu, as a well stocked bar in bar, they also stock fruit shoots which is handy for the children. We didn’t eat on this occasion as one of the children was getting tried, but we had a meal here July 2022 and it was lovely and reasonably priced. It felt amazing to get back to my favourite pub in Great Yarmouth after being in lock down. The service from the staff was above and beyond (especially with the extra steps taken with the Covid 19) definitely made us feel happy and safe to see this. Empty glasses swiftly removed from empty tables and tables sanitized down once customers had left, screens up in between tables, track and trace QR code on a banner or forms table as soon as you enter the door with hand sanitizer, staff wearing face masks/visors. After seeing previous reviews regarding the 'lack of Covid 19 awareness', they must have gone on a night where there was a few drunken idiots who decided to not respect the rules after being reminded by staff! (Unfortunately you will get these type of people everywhere, so bear that in mind before leaving a negative review which does not reflect the service the Pub actually offers!) Pub on the Prom definitely have the BEST Covid 19 precautions I have seen so far! Keep up the great work and I can't wait for my next time visiting you!May I add that the Hunters Chicken was spectacular. *chefs kiss*

This is not a review that is as a result of a meal, but of being in the pub for a drink over the last 2 nights.Sign outside says you must wear a mask whilst not seated, to say this is not enforced is an understatement, in particular last night a couple of blokes, locals and known to the staff by the way they were addressed, totally ignored the rules, walking about, going to the bar...staff did mention masks but it was a joke..if you have worries about COVID drink elsewhere...Service is another issue, but dont get me started

Upon being on holiday we have been visiting various pubs around great yarmouth and was disgusted by how many pubs were not following covid 19 procedures, however visiting pub on the prom was a different story. Upon arrival we were greeted by a member of staff who sat us at our tables and advised us that it was table service only and we had to check in using the covid 19 app. Within minutes we were asked for our drinks order and this was brought back to us very quickly, all staff were amazing we were only going to have 1 pint but ended up having 6. They kept checking on our table and other tables to see if we wanted another round. The service was absolutely brilliant, a big shout out to jaime she was fantastic, kept up with the banter, was polite and friendly and was very good at her job. All.staff knew what they were doing during this tough time and so did the manager. Will certainly be carrying on drinking here during our holiday.

My wife and I decided to visit on the evening of 16th September for a quiet drink and a meal. On arriving at the pub the only table available was close to a table of 6 rowdy men. Within 15 minutes of our sitting down a further 4 or 5 people joined the group clearly breaching the Covid 19 regulations. They became rowdier and messing about with glasses of beer on the heads . At this I got up from my seat and my wife followed as I went past I said have you not heard of Covid 19.I went to the bar and asked to speak to the manager. Nobody seemed to know who was in charge until a youngish lady asked the problem. I told her what had happened and she said she would talk to them. She returned 2 minutes later and said she had talked to them and they had accused me of swearing which she told me was unacceptable. I then told my wife that we were leaving having been wrongly accused of using bad language and their refusal to implement the regulations. I would also mention that on that occasion and one earlier in the week we were not asked or directed to fill a form for test and trace

We visited here in August 2020 a family of seven had two tables in our bubble we have been here many times in the past and always been excellent, but unfortunately this time it was not so good it would need a lot of persuading to get us back.I know the Menu was a lot smaller due to Covid , the portions were a lot smaller than before and was not that hot on ordering before we had even had the food delivered they shoved the PDQ machine in my face for payment no tab as before so we did not even order deserts very disappointed sorry guys .

After phoning numerous restaurants to try and book for finer and being told they couldn’t accommodate us we decided to just take a stroll and chance our arm. This place didn’t look to busy and I noticed a free table in the window. As we walked in through the door there was a table with a NHS track and trace notification form and hand sanitizer. So far so good. Two pints of ale were ordered and menus given as we sat down to enjoy our drink and decide what to have to eat. Prices seemed a bit steep for what is basically pub food. The Mrs had Battered Cod and Chips (her Chips were overdone) and I had the 10oz Sirloin Steak with pepper sauce. Total price should have been £38.45 but with the Eat out to help out it came to £18.60. Can’t complain about the discount as I’d expect to pay around £25-£30 for the food in a bar restaurant. The Mrs said her fish was delicious as was my steak cooked exactly the way I like it. Unfortunately the tables were very sticky and could do with a right good clean. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. 4/5 for food and drinks but only 1/5 for cleanliness.

No one way system, no track and trace. Dangerous environment, with zero social distancing. Good customer service from efficient staff. Disappointing and very average selection of beers. I won't return to this place. There are far too many risks.

Firstly like to say once we saw the prices we should of left as it is obvious what you have done. Upped your prices during the Eat out Help out scheme so by the time its off it be a standard price as we was charged 51 pound just for three jackets, one panini and some breaded mushrooms but still nearly 30 with the discount? Absolutely ridiculous prices 9 quid for a spud just unreal. And just a gentle note to maybe train staff better as i get its summer holidays and you may have new ones in but its like no induction was given one didn't know where the toilets was and one didn't know what meal she had in her hands so chief didn't tell her or she simply has been trained properly. Will not be returning as a shame because been coming Yarmouth for 20+ years really wanted to try this pleace. Big mistake.

We stopped here for a drink as there was a table available outside in the sunshine. Great tableservice without any fuss and tasty piña colada cocktails made to cool us down. A very enjoyable hour or so on the terrace with some people watching to accompany our drinks.

We have been in for a meal twice this holiday and the food is amazing home cooked food the chips are unbelievably delicious. The omelettes are big and amazing. Our boy is fussy on his food but he cleans his plate every time we go. Highly recommend if on holiday near here, So we went again last night for last meal of season and oh boy did it not fail, it was the best pie I’ve ever had in a pub and the chips were fantastic as always, staff really friendly, and service is excellent, shame it would be 6 hour round trip to come back in winter.

This was genuinely the worst 2 bits of fish I have ever had served to me. Myself and my wife had a portion each and they were most grey un-fresh looking pieces of fish I have ever seen. £9:40 with chips is a good price in this day and age but jeez it was awful. As a consolation the chips were probably an 8/10. personally I'd give it a miss.

Had many meals in this pub, since the new team has been running the place, very good food, excellent beer, and always a warm welcome to strangers. When our daughter visits us up here, this is where we come to,to while an hour or so with a good meal.Never had a poor meal, but we love the f/chips.
