Takeaway visit early this morning to beat the crowds. Shelves were heaving with deliciousness so really spoilt for choice. I selected the usuals, almond croissant, pain au chocolate and a chocolate brownie but extra treat of a blackberry custard pastry (too good looking to pass up) a sausage roll, hot from the oven (steaming in the cool bake house air) and finally... A cinnamon bun from the tray expertly selected by Rory. The man has the skills of a surgeon and the eye of a hawk in choosing the stickiest, most cinnamon-y bun in the tray... All stocked up and home to the family for some silent munching over coffee and juice. When you're in say Hi to Rory and the team and let him show you his zen master cinnamon bun selection routine.

Myself and my partner visited proof for the first time in September. We got there late afternoon around 2 and most bakes had gone however they do shut at 3 and I think most people know to go early to get the goods/ specifics of what they want. We both had a pastry and a hot drink which were lovely. Excellent service. Will definitely be returning earlier in the day next time to have more options.

We live locally and have supported this bakery every week since it opened. Normally I would give everything 5 stars but last week the pain au chocolate was very disappointing. Hardly any chocolate. Hopefully just a blip!

My Daughter's company had employed the Proof Social Bakehouse to provide a buffet earlier this week. She was very impressed with the food they supplied. Based on that, and as we were in the area, we decided to drop into their bakehouse cafe for a snack. It's not easy to find, being hidden amongst factories on an industrial estate. However, once you locate the premises there is plenty of car parking space. The cafe is only open Thursdays to Sunday, 8AM until 3PM. We arrived at about 1PM on Friday afternoon. The staff in the bakery side were busy creating bread and pastries. Unfortunately the cafe side was almost out of savoury snacks for our lunch. The staff said they'd been unusually busy today. We did manage to buy coffees, cinnamon buns and a Marmite swirl each but that basically cleared them out of stock. The buns were mouthwatering and very sweet. While we savoured our food several people were wandering in but being disappointed by the lack of food on offer. Overall I'd say that the food was excellent but I was a little disappointed by the lack of choice. There didn't seem to be any effort by the staff to replenish the pastry and bread displays even though the bakery was still cooking and the cafe would still be open for another two or so hours. I think we will visit again if we find themselves in the area but we'll have to arrive early if we want to sample a wider range of baked goods.

I'd heard rumours of a new bakery near the lock in Kennington but hadn't seen it till my wife stumbled upon it. The coffee is very good and the cakes, bread, savouries are all excellent. The only challenge is in deciding what to have. The early opening times on the weekend are also very convenient as we are normally up and out quite early.

Hands down the best almond croissants I've ever had. Lovely, crispy pastry and generous almond taste too. Cool atmosphere inside, will definitely be back to sample the other pastries and goodies!

The best sausage rolls I have ever tasted in my life, and the pain au chocolat was something else. I was on a weekend break from London, and I would gladly travel to Oxford just for this absolute gem of a place! Well done, keep up the good work all of you!!

We stumbled across this little bakery whilst completing a section of the Thames Path walking trail. With 2 doggies in tow it was a relief to not have to leave them (with one of us) outside. However te seating area was closed so we settled for a sausage roll, almond pastry and a coffee. A lovely treat sitting down by the river on a rather grey day. Definitely one of the best parties I've ever tasted and reasonably priced. Shame this place is not a little more accessible!

Fabulous pain au chocolat, coffee and eaten with a great view and interaction with the craftsman making the puff pastry. Quirky atmosphere, location and first class service. We will be earlier next time to get sour dough! Good luck guys, this is special.

The best cappuccino I’ve enjoyed this year. Outstandingly good. Crafted on a La Marzocco coffee machine from beans roasted in Oxfordshire. Pastries to die for. Every cyclist & visitor to Abingdon should make the pilgrimage.

We’ve been here a few times for sandwiches, today we thought we would try the Brie, bacon and cranberry paninis. I can honestly say it’s the worst panini I’ve ever had. The bacon was really very fatty and cold. Both of us only ate one mouthful and then had to remove all the bacon. The lady behind the counter was very busy so I didn’t feel able to complain.

Food is superb. We had the burger which was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding which was the nicest I have tasted. The serving staff were very friendly and super helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
