We stopped here after a very emotionally demanding day. As strangers we were made welocme by bar staff and local people. The beer was excellent and the coffee similar. we did not eat but given the right timing we would definitely revisit

We've eaten here before and the food choices were quite good, the menu was comprehensive and offered a few welcomed vegetarian dishes. The staff were all really nice and welcoming. we booked a table and returned expecting to see the same or similar offerings but there weren't any menus? The only selection was on a blackboard inside the pub itself, not one single vegetarian option, not even a starter. We asked why and the (nice landlord) told us they had a new 'chef' and they weren't serving vegetarian food anymore. I thought 'chef' meant the ability to create food with some flair and offer maybe something out of the ordinary. This 'chef' was nothing more than a fry cook with chips for every dish. We left hungry and very disappointed.

My friends and I have visited this pub many times and enjoyed the food and ambience. We particularly like the Sunday lunches - nothing fancy or pretentious, just good roast dinners. A decent wine list, too - not too much choice and good pricing. However, we called in a few weeks ago and were told that the landlord has now left, so we don't know who now runs it and whether foof standards (Food Hygiene rating 5) will be maintained.

Me and my partner came across this pub in a small village near Abingdon. We were on a bit of a journey all the way from London for car driving experience. We needed a little break after our eventful day and was recommended to come to the Prince of Wales and unwind. As soon as we arrived, i could almost immediately feel the warmth of this place. Nicky was so welcoming and full of laughter and jokes! We stayed for a few drinks and ordered the fish and chips.. Food was amazing and the fish was perfect and fresh! -Just what i needed perching by the open fireplace.. I must recommend to anyone who drives past or is nearby to pop in as you will not want to leave - such a friendly environment. The people and food were amazing and i appreciate all the help we received from you Nicky - Made our experience all worth it! Coming from London i can say that you can really see the difference with the characteristics and mannerisms of all the people here..Thank you again.. Love Khalida xx

The jacket potatoes were no longer on the menu and because of food allergies the only option was fish cakes which were not home cooked (and jackets and home cooking are both advertised on the website). However the service, beer and the open fire were excellent. In the past I have eaten excellent jacket potatoes at this pub and overall this lunch was a huge disappointment and we will not be returning in a hurry.

The food is delicious, with much of it being home made. Really good value for money and I will go back for sure. I highly recommend.

We called in on our way back from a walk with the dog and sat out in the garden as it was a warm sunny evening. The staff here were absolutely faultless, so attentive and went the extra mile. I was suffering badly that evening from hay fever and the lady got me a tablet to take and a damp tissue to put on my eyes. The food itself was full of flavour, excellent portion size and good value for money. My dad had the crumble for dessert and said it was the best he had ever had. We spoke to the chef afterwards and complimented him on his food. He said most of the ingredients are locally sourced within a radius of a couple of miles. The pub is in a nice location, opposite the village church. We live locally but can’t believe it’s only been till now we’ve tried this pub. There will be many more occasions from now on!

Chosen at random by my wife, but a very good choice. Staff were excellent - very friendly and welcoming. Food was extremely good (sirloin steak and a chicken burger, with starters of garlic mushrooms and a prawn cocktail). It was very quiet, but deserves to be visited if you are in the area. Highly recommended. Oh, and Nicki rocks!

Five of us met on Easter Sunday for a family lunch. We received a warm welcome and were served promptly. There was a congenial ambience and the two ladies who served us were friendly and cheerful, with some witty repartee. The Sunday roast was excellent, plentiful and reasonably priced. It was generally a pleasant experience and we would definitely recommend others to dine there.

Booked a table on the off chance, so glad we did. We received a very warm welcome. Ordered sausages, mash with a pint and fishcakes, chips, salad with a Pimm's and lemonade this hit the mark. We were joined with friends that finished off the evening. There was a large open fire and the radiators were on. This is a cute little gem of a pub and worth the walk. Looking forward to coming again.

A group of 16 of us had dinner here and universally approved of the whole evening. Given the large number, we were not unreasonably requested to pre-order our meals from the relatively small menu. This free house prides itself on sourcing their food locally where possible and this was evident in the carefully prepared and beautifully presented dishes. I had the ham, egg and chips and it must be said that the two eggs were freshly cooked and probably the best ones that I have had in a pub.

Having previously been here for a very enjoyable lunch I booked an evening table for our family celebration. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and were shown straight to our table. All the food was reasonably priced and beautifully presented, most of what we ordered was locally sourced and so plentiful 2 of the party were defeated by their desserts. Everyone was very attentive throughout and overall there isn`t one thing I can fault. Will certainly return at some point in the future.

The Sunday roast at the Prince of Wales is excellent value - not just the generous portions of meat and roasties - unlike many other restaurants, the chef here gives you a good portion of vegetables. The menu is straightforward and uncomplicated, so you don't waste time dithering over what to choose - likewise the wines, Tim the landlord keeps it simple with a small selection of good wines. If you want a good basic roast dinner, and a decent wine to go with it, the Prince of Wales nails it.

Whilst visiting my daughter in Abingdon we decided to try The Prince of Wales as she had seen good reviews. It had the feel of a friendly village local. Nicely kept traditional pub. Good choice of food and drinks, attentive staff nothing to much trouble. Menu had a twist on good pub classics , but kept dishes fresh and plentiful, I like good food and eat out regularly, I find many pubs are turning to a large carte style menus nowadays and it was refreshing to find somewhere true to its roots. The food was excellent just a shame it was so plentiful I couldn't squeeze dessert in. Will most defiantly visit again . And a gold star for the waitress service with a smile, made us feel like valued customers.

This is the only pub in the village we used to go there at least once a week for dinner when I didn't feel like cooking. The food was always good before but it had gone downhill in the last two years. There's a new landlord there and we had Sunday roast there. What a revelation! Great beef roast and staff who make you feel welcome and appreciated.Good job Greene king for getting people who know what they're doing! Keep it up and the village will support you!

Visited this pub recently with trepidation but was very surprised. What a lovely atmosphere, the landlady and staff were so welcoming. We visited with friends for a birthday meal for her young daughter. The landlady was cheery and very attentive. The menu was adequate, we ordered burgers, ribs and chicken wrapped in Parma ham. The food was nice, the kids meals large and only £4. Very happy to recommend, nothing fancy but delicious. So much so I went back with my husband after work a few days later for another portion of Chicken and Parma Ham. We have also booked a table of 10 for their Sunday Roasts. If you want a welcoming, attentive pub with unpretentious decent food this is worth a visit!

If you are looking for an old fashioned honest to goodness welcoming village pub then look no further than the Prince of Wales. If you want a modern gin palace with no atmosphere and no welcoming friendly smile then you will be in the wrong place! There is a good selection of beers, real ale and cider and the prices here are lower or similar to the pubs in Abingdon yet it is only a mile out of town. The food is excellent with traditional as well as some modern pub food classics and the Sunday lunches are fantastic. In the winter there is a welcoming open log fire and in the summer a south facing garden th enjoy. While everyone has their own idea of a perfect pub but the "Feathers" is definitely worth a visit if you want a family friendly, welcoming country pub. It is easy to find as it is right opposite the Village Church. Recommended.

Had not been to the prince for sometime, very pleased with it all before and as the family wanted lunch out thought we would give it another try 18-05-15.They have now really settled in employing a chef, a new menu, the only slight draw-back is having to go though a rather crowded bar to get to the restaurant, but once a nice homely room plenty of room and tidy.I had the roast lamb this was served with roast potatoes carrots cabbage and peas with aside dish of cauliflower cheese, this all nicely presented very well cooked and all served nice and hot, by the landlady who was helpful and very cheerful, the portion was such I couldn't manage a sweet, but all the meals and sweets I saw where of the same standard, resonable priced and quick service, I would recommend this pub, I must add that the rest of the menu was quite impressive, will certainly be eating there again very soon
