Th delivery person was very customer friendly. The Princes' Fish and Chips were very tasty and cooked to perfection.

Went here for the first time in between watching the big football matches at 2 different pubs on the Saturday as we needed a filler amount of food to keep us going. Between us our main order was a large chips plus pots of Garlic Mayo and Curry sauce. A decent amount of nice chips for us to share and two generous sized tasty pots of sauce too, splendid methinks

Absolutely delicious, it was cooked perfectly! We had two portions of cod, a large chips, curry sauce and a battered sausage. It was worth the money and will be ordering again!

Was within the 50 min time scale advised for a takeaway 10 min away by car but food was cold. Not surprising as it took 25 mins from shop and what looked like 4 or 5 other stops from driver. Although fish and chips looked good they don’t travel that well in cardboard boxes for that length of time. Won’t order again

Update Jan 2024: The fish has always been good, but the chips were not great yesterday. Refried, soft and burnt. The chips have been going downhill for a while, but yesterday was the lowest low. We shan't be visiting again for a long while. Many years ago: Best Fish and Chips in Bristol, no doubt. Been coming here for too many years to mention!

Good portion sizes and tasty fresh food. Sometimes a bit of a wait when ordering in person but not too bad.

Claims that they have gluten free options available online but when asked they don't do this anymore! Completely misleading information that is very harmful to coeliacs looking for a good option for takeaway food. Severely disappointed in this as you should never claim to have gluten free options when no longer available. Glad I stopped my coeliac family member before they got ill.

The best fish and chips you'll ever have. Absolutely PERFECT. The batter is gorgeous, not greasy, but nice and crisp. The fish is fresh, white, flaky and delicious and the chips? honestly the nicest chips we've ever had. The presentation and packaging of the food is fantastic. Each time in it's own little box. This is by FAR the best fish and chip shop we've ever used and we LOVE them. Thank you so much to all the staff, chefs, drivers etc, you're awesome and we're very grateful for your hard work and dedication to providing a high quality service and food.

The battered sausage was 3 inches long and the large portion of chips wasn't very large.

Food was really nice. However, the fish was really small and everything apart from the peas was a bit cold

It's the first time we've used this place and WOW!! the fish and chips were incredible, the best we've ever had. The presentation of the food, each item in it's own little box, SO great, everything about this order, the food, the presentation, the delivery driver, was absolutely spot on. We were so impressed, they have gained a new regular customer based on our first order. Wonderful food, hot, fresh, delicious, thank you so much. Overall rating: OUTSTANDING!!

Well it's a traditional fish and chip shop, propper portions and speedy service. Fish cooked to order like it should be and a selection of other accompaniments.

Ordered 2 x pieces of fish and the sizes of them were like children's portions!! Disgusting!! Cold and chewy! I've never paid £16 for 2 of the smallest pieces of cod!! Look at it.. Really!!!!!

A good fish & chips shop, with my favourite thing about it being the amount of vegan options on the menu. The portions given here are really great and definitely worth a try. The service was a little slow but worth it for the food we received.

I have to agree with a lot of what other are posting - since this fish and chip shop has re opened with the new owners the prices have gone up (almost to the point where i turned and walked away) and the portions of food have at least halved in size. Disappointing to say the least, i've been in twice over the past week thinking it might have just been a one off but sadly this isn't thee case. A shame as the food was very nice.

Great to see this place open again and now with a separate, pretty extensive vegan menu and gluten free options which is really nice to see. As always generous with their smiles and portion sizes.

Disgusting place don’t bother going there fish was dry and looked like a kid’s portion pie was over cooked and burnt the food is way overpriced cost me £35 for a fish and chips pie and chips and chicken nuggets and chip a curry sauce and mushy peas and I was sick the next day not only at the price but how vile the food taste never ever again.

Really pleased to see this takeaway reopen with a vegan menu. Quite reasonably priced, lots of vegan options and the staff were really friendly.

Worst fish and chips I have ever had in my life. Never going back here again. Ordered large fish and it was tiny and batter was soggy and disgusting, fish tasted bitter as though had been cooked in bad oil. Chips were dry and cold and hardly any for a large portion (probably a blessing in disguise) had a battered sausage and I won't even go there.

We've been waiting for Prince's to reopen after Covid and health problems that the owner has had. We'd heard many good reports about the place and since moving here from Devon in February we were looking forward to the day when we could see for ourselves what it was like. We were not disappointed Great fish and chips. Good portion size, not over generous but ample. Not greasy and wonderful batter. Service was quick and staff were friendly. We will be regular customers 😀

Awful, truly awful. Ordered large cod and chips, received approximately 14 chips and a battered sausage. The battered sausage looked as if it had been cooked pre covid. No salt or vinegar, no sauce. The only thing remotely not dreadful was the curry sauce. The fish in chips in the Wetherspoons opposite will be equally poor but will be a fraction of the inflated price they charge.

Chips were soggy and tasteless, no salt and vinegar despite asking for it. Fish was also tasteless and the batter was miserable. You could throw your shoe in a random direction in any town centre and hit a better chippy.

Unlike the chip shop at Downend not one member of the 4 staff working were wearing masks. Maybe the owner just doesnt care about thier staffs welfare or that of thier customers. Last time we shop there.

Worst Fish n Chips I ever tried in my entire life. Mushy peas absolutely tasteless, was offered salt and vinegar never got it. Tartar sauce in one 10ml squish bag, chips soggy, cutlery/napkins wasn’t included, 10ml squish ketchup 40p. Something to improve for sure.

Orders cod and chips my fork is bigger than th fish it’s self got a baby handful of chips plus I paid for sauce and didn’t get it! Very over priced for the amount you get very disappointed will stick to where I know and get a much better portion size for the same amount I paid! Paid £9.40 for a really small cod and really oily undercooked chips Today. I tried ringing to complain never had a answer. Standards have dropped big time used to be nice. Won't be returning. Waste of money and my time spent traveling to this spefic shop.

Just had pie , fish and chips bought at 1.0pm . Must be the worst I've ever had , none of it was hot or crispy , tasted like yesterday's also didn't have to wait for the fish. It was done previously

3 pieces of advice: 1. Don’t re-heat battered sausages, 2. Don’t then lie about re-heating battered sausages (it is unmistakable) and 3. When someone traipses back to your shop with their toddler to complain that you have given him a re-heated battered sausage, change their cold chips for warm ones. Oh and if you’re going to employ kids to keep the wage bill down then at least teach them a bit about customer service. To anyone that bothers reading this, the food is okay (when it is freshly fried) but it’s expensive for the portions that you get.

£13 for regular cod & chips, scampi and mushy peas. Took a while to get the order though, however it was a busy time of day. Staff didn't challenge a customer without mask, I had to put on my fearsome glare until he left to go back under whichever rock he came from.

Really tasty chips have been going to this chip shop for years now as it's my local one and I would highly recommend it The chips are nice and the staff surve you really quick The staff are also friendly witch is really nice to have in a takeaway shop

Too long await 45 minutes stood out in the cold. Priority given to firms picking up large pre orders. Chicken and pie left in warmer waiting for chips to be cooked as all chips put in pre orders. Chicken and pie both dried up. Too far to take it back. Can appreciate they need the custom but should be better managed.

Smaller portions than normal. Poor chips. Badly organised for civid situation.

A portion of sausage and chips from Prince's is like heaven in a takeaway box! Chips were perfect and the sausages were tasty. I love that they offer a pet menu as well which consists of yesterdays fish portions, sausages and fishcakes at a massive discount to take home for your pet. Fab place and reasonable pricing too.

Lovely. Went due to Mondays offer on 2 lots of fish and chips for the price of 1. Really enjoyed it. The fish was full of flavour, batter crisp and light. Chips the best. Love the Tartar sauce complimentary. Good service. Boxed and bagged. Will return and recommend.

My local chippy, nice quality traditional fish and chips, if you want to make sure the fish is fresh, just ask for a fresh one to be cooked!

I've never seen such a small fish portion in my life, under cooked chips which seem a given for most British chippies these days, £4.90 for a tiny piece of cod and I mean small. The people running and working here clearly don't care, nothing but a scam AVOID AT ALL COSTS just lost a local customer for life.

Very nice fish but as I have read in most of the reviews very pricey and not good value for money. However Customerservice good and nice and clean.. please either adjust your prices or give a bit more for your customers money! Only giving 3 stars because of prices otherwise five deserved for quality!!

Just been in ask for fresh fish and chip, got served what they must have had left over from lunch. Rubbery and over cooked. Very poor, not happy. My advice don't both.

Saw a RAT! Was ordering my food and a rat ran from the back and up the stairs and no one even said anything! Absolutely vile.

Rip off small portion and tiny fish if I could less then star I would ..better go star fish bar lodgecauseway fishpond they are spot on and portion are better eatable for one person atleast.

I live out of town but have used the chip shop a couple of times now. Nicely cooked chips. The counter staff seems uncomfortable talking to the customers. I will continue to call in when I'm in town because of good value for money.

I cannot write a review without pressing a star...... I've no choice but to put 1 star. I've been a loyal customer for 14 years. But over the last 6 months or so things have changed. Both me and my children have ordered meals only to find when we get home we have the wrong orders aka fish chips and mushy peas. Come home to find 2 bags of chips 1 piece of fish and curry sauce? So my son went down today and bought 2 battered sausages and a bag of chips and a pot of curry sauce. It cost me £8.00! I they gave and charged him for battered sausages and chips curry sauce and a bag of chips?? I went down with my son and the food and receipt only to wait 20 mins to speak to a manager who proceeded to shout at both me and my son saying 'he asked for salt and vinegar". I asked for a refund for the things I didn't order and a replacement ( I took back chips ect) I'm 47 years old never in my life have I ever been spoke to like that. I don't know what has changed in princes but I will never buy food from them again. Ps I told the manager to read his review from me.

Great local chippy. Fish is always fresh and delicious and the chips are yummy. The mushy pea fritters are a great vegan alternative to fish too!

Portion size was shocking did not have enough for the three of us especially for the price! The service was good but the food really let it down.
