We had an absolutely fabulous Sunday roast here. It was their first one since taking over the pub. I had beef.... SIX slices!! A giant yorkshire pudding, roast & boiled potatoes, carrots, parsnips, stuffing. My partner had roast pork belly which was delicious (with same veg selection). The staff are really friendly and efficient and the owner, Sam, is totally committed to making this pub a "go too" place. There is live music here also. The atmosphere here is really good. I would definitely recommend a visit to this pub - I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We live just round the corner from here, so we thought we'd give it a try. It's under new ownership, and a lot of work has been put into its refurbishment, with tasteful light decor which gives it a very pleasant atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming staff. The menu is limited at the moment which is quite understandable, given that they've only just 'got going', but the food was delicious and nicely presented. Well done Prince of Wales.

Hurried back from east cowes on the understanding the pub was open until 1am to be told at 12 30 the tills had already been taken and there was no chance for another drink,or even a bottle of wine to take home.. We are staying just down the road from this venue and had planned a night cap on route home past here, so was obviously disappointed to be told that they were closed early on valentines day of all days..(may I add that online it is advertised that you serve until 1am) Then to top the disappointment after asking about anywhere open at that time if they had to close that early we were directed by the girl on shift us back into the centre of cowes looking for a pub that didnt exist.. ridiculous. Wouldn't visit again.

The bar had no bitter lemon and no appletise so we had a mixture made up mixture of lime and lemonade. The so called garden was a scruffy piece of grass, the borders were overgrown with weeds. The tables and benches made of wood had not been maintained nor stained in a long time. We originally intended to have lunch but decided it was too unwelcoming also at 12.15there had been nothing written on the board to say what the menu included , just a notice stating choose from this board and order at the bar. The only plus was that the ladies toilet was vey fresh and clean. we will. not return here

We popped by the Prince of Wales for the first time this week as we waited for Osborne House to open opposite. We arrived and asked if we could order breakfast even though we weren't staying to which they explained what was available. We were told to sit through in the breakfast room and await service. We did so, but were spoken to quite rudely by the presumed owner about where we should or shouldn't have sat. The food came out and was above average for a full english and the waitress was polite / friendly. It was nice food but was tainted by the atmosphere as many others have reviewed also. Rated a four star for benefit of the doubt, we're all allowed to have a bad day

Stopped here after our visit to Osborne House (entrance just across the road) Being a Sunday, roast and all the fixings were the only thing on the menu. Fine for us! I'd never had the obligatory Roast, Yorkshire Pud, and veg. It was certainly more foo than I normally eat, but it was fine. Order at the bar, where locals were watching sports. Waitstaff was good, and pleasant.

After reading some excellent local recent reviews of their Breakfast, I was eager to see what it was like, and on being served, it certainly looked okay, but on trying it I found it to be substandard. Whilst the ingredients, especially the Sausages, could have been very good, they had been severely reheated and had dried out. The Bacon and the Mushrooms were equally severely over-reheated/cooked, the Beans and Black Pudding were dried out, and it was only the Eggs and toast that seemed fresh. Okay, I wasn’t expecting it all to be freshly cooked and served, but most of what I had was at least a day or two old. The surroundings and service were average and adequate, and the price would have been excellent had the food been acceptable.

We went here for lunch, having baulked at the queues in Osborne House. There was nothing in particular wrong with the place, other than a pervasive dispirited feeling, as if it had given up all hope. Lots of traffic outside. Someone had tried with the decor a while ago. The barmaid was nice. It was clean. And yet. The food gave off the impression of having given up, or not having been cared about. I swear my caesar salad was dressed with bottled salad cream. My partner ate a very tasteless chilli con carne, and my daughter's courgette fritters, which we imagined would be grated courgette with egg and seasoning, were in fact just slices of courgette dipped in batter and deep fried. Grease to the max, with flavour nowhere to be found. So no, overall not a winning lunch.

Walked in to have a pint and an evening meal; felt all eyes turn on me and my friend and if the cricket wasn't on tv then there would've been a hush. As if on cue the local drunk (f) started to have a goat another of the locals. Once our pints were pulled, the landlady directed us to the rather loud beer garden. Fortunately we found a quiet side. Ales were excellent and best priced on the island. We escaped via the back gate and found food elsewhere.

we found ourselves in Falmouth and in need of food for lunch. looking round the choice is vast but taking out the inevitable Cornish pasty and fish and chips we decided on the Prince of Wales public house. firstly the hot weather dictated a pub so kill 2 birds etc. Right my wife had her usual large glass of Chardony and I took advantage of draft St Austel Proper Job. For our meal the menu has a good selection and choice but what caught our eye was the basket meals for only £5. Our choice the Southern fried chicken with chips. ordered and paid for we sat at one of tables to enjoy our drinks and looking out the window at all the people rushing by. Our meals arrived and surprisingly proper chips with 2 pieces of chicken pleasently served and very hot. overall portion size very good quality good and finally value considering where we were very good. overall not a bad choice

I took my mum here for lunch prior to our visit to Osborne House - there is a bus stop right outside and it's a 5 minute walk to the entrance to Osborne House itself. The pub has parking, and an outside seating area too - with a pool table and a tv showing sport in the main bar, this is a proper pub with friendly staff. The main menu is your standard fare, and not particularly inspiring at that, albeit very reasonably priced.BUT - remember people, the Prince of Wales is a real pub run by real people, and the specials board in the restaurant area is what you need to seek out. ALL the specials are home made; I had a gorgeous steak, ale and mushroom pie while my mum had lamb shank - both meals had stacks of fresh vegetables and mash with lovely gravy. We both agreed the food was fantastic and, for £8.95 and £10.95 respectively, outstanding value. I also had a pint of local ale, which was in excellent condition. In summary - if you like a proper pub serving proper grub, with a friendly and good-humoured team of staff, then this is the place for you!

I'm not one to be totally negative in my reviews but I feel I have to be with this one. After a lovely morning at Osbourne House we walked out of the gates and decided to have lunch at, the one place in East Cowes that was in a pamphlet we got from the Tourist Information Centre that listed Restaurants on the Island, The Prince of Wales. Now I have to say that my dislike is heightened by the fact that we visited other places in the pamphlet and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, service and location of those places so we had high hopes. The Prince of Wales Pub was freshly painted on the outside but was totally dated on the inside. The toilets are awful!!!It's just an old pub in a great location. The lady serving at the bar started of pleasant enough but when it came to the food it was obvious that here patience was wearing thin. Mainly because I have Coeliac disease and need to eat Gluten Free food and she was clueless! She had to ask the chef on four separate occasions if this was okay or that. To be honest I am used to such experiences but hadn't expected it here; not after everywhere else I'd eaten over the weekend was very knowledgeable and well prepared. All we could have was the Chilli Con Carne...Which happens to be my all time favourite food...only the bowl of food put in front of me was a bolognese sauce at best. only two Kidney beans...so I guess it was a chilli. The size of the portion was also very very disappointing! This place has the location, it could be an amazing little money earner for someone but...

I had a glass of Symonds cider to drink and that was fine and then chose the vegetable pasta . This arrived with carrots and new potatoes. A nice salad would have been infinitely better and had this been the situation , I would have gone for average, not poor. Having said that, the staff were pleasant and the service speedy.

Stopped in for lunch and a quick drink while at Osbourne House. Selection of beers was limited to either cheap lager or mediocre ale.Food was overpriced and AWFUL. We had a carvery and it was like hospital food. The meat was tough, the potatoes mushy and the two different vegetables that there were, were floating in water. Only afterwards did we realise they had the cheek to overcharge us also.Would NEVER go back, nor recommend it to anyone.

Had a really lovely cosy lunch in here on a cool Autumn day. Really warm service and the food was enjoyable. Great location for looking out to sea.

Everytime i get to have a look at Costa Newport Shropshire website, the thin that greets me on the Google listing is a review from trip adivsor and this is 10 - yes ten - years old!! It say it is" the worst Costa ever". I am a local elderly lady and I go down there 2-3 times a week. I go on my own. The coffee is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and homely. The seats are comfortable and padded. It upsets me that Trip-Advisor can keep plugging this ten year old review. How dare they do this!! it is shocking. I havent dont a trip advisor review for 2-3 years, but I am fed up with this report. Please take it off.

It's very busy in the summer season, but it still manages to produce great food. In the winter, it's the one pub that is consistently open, no matter what the weather or footfall. Throughout the winter, there are special deals on meals, which are cooked to a very high standard. The staff are really friendly and helpful and if you want any changes to your meal, they are only too willing to help. If you come to Yarmouth pop in, you will be looked after and enjoy a lovely meal and beverage of your choice. The location is great, but the phone signal is very poor. You may have to walk up the peir.

We had a poor dining experience, one meal in particular, the stir fry chicken was very strange with slices of raw tomato and bottled silverside onions. The other meals were indifferent, chips not really hot, a real bugbear with me as it's something that's so easy to get right. They close tomorrow until March so were obviously just not that bothered and keen to get off home. It's a shame as it's an attractive venue with live music and a real nautical vibe.
