Usual fare, great all round service and comfortable setting. Always enjoy coming here no matter what time of the year. Food and service fantastic. Local clientele and friendly staff, what more can you ask for.

We went for a large family lunch on Sunday- the pub itself is large, bright and welcoming and has lots of period features but the food was pricey and cold .

Fabulous lunch beautifully cooked beef delicious Irish coffee served in juice glasses which was an eclectic touch the chocolate brownie was divine and the white Rioja recommended by Jared was excellent ! The one glass of the red chocolate box was superb Back to its best

Very disappointing lunch in what was our most recent favourite restaurant We were seated next to the exit and toilets despite an almost empty restaurant having requested other seating The burrata was solid and the salad undressed No bread was offered and when requested was stale and covered in olive oil with a blob of margarine on the side Mains were served while we were stlll eating our starters We definitely got the end of roast beef Potatoes and Yorkshire were dry and cold no extra veg offered Very Very disappointing

Feels like home every time I’m here. Staff are exceptional and the epitome of what a good London pub experience should be! Special mention to the one and only Evy, if you’re ever in the area or genuinely just fancy a pint - this is the place to be! Long live the Alfred 🍻

The pub is more or less next door to the hotel I was staying at, and I didn’t want to walk very far. So it was the easy option, but I couldn’t have been more delighted. My daughter was supposed to join me, but couldn’t make it because of the bad weather, and so I was on my own. But the staff were delightful, and made me feel very relaxed (which isn’t always the case for singles). I had the pork and leek sausages with mash - absolutely great! And a big glass of Chilean Sauvignon blanc.

We were visiting friends nearby and this pub was a very nice surprise. Good beer and an excellent New Zealand’s Sauvignon Blank. We had the fish and chips which were excellent. To top every pleasant evening our sever Lewis was excellent - helpful, professional and friendly

We had a lovely meal - great fish and chips straight from the fryer. The service was good, as were the wine prices and the atmosphere was buzzy and fun.

I'm on a working visit from Scotland & visited here today for the first time. Staff (Max & Jacob) were really friendly & welcoming as soon as i entered. Very helpful & knowledgeable. The Chefs were topclass also. Great & wide drinks choice. Delicious food. The place looks amazing & historic. A "proper pub" feel. Highly recommend. I booked a table for 10 friends & family for my birthday lunch on Friday, 4 August and had the most amazing experience! The menu was varied and plentiful and everything tasted delicious! Thanks to all the staff especially Hugo who has the patience of a saint dealing with 10 raucous women!

I popped into the Prince Alfred, for a lunchtime drink & after a relaxing start, a man comes in, sets up two laptops & proceeds to hold a loud meeting with someone on the other end of the phone. He’s not drinking or eating, or coming up for air unfortunately & is apparently (his admission) using their WiFi. I’m disappointed I’ve chosen to spend my money here on this occasion. It’s a quiet afternoon, there’s me & this man, in one section of the pub, with the bar opposite & how nice it would have been, if the staff were paying more attention to who is paying & who isn’t. When I politely speak to the man, legitimately thinking he must work there, he takes offence & is rude. The staff aren’t paying attention, so I leave. If you want to hold your work meeting somewhere in Maida Vale, this pub should qualify for serious consideration, it’s incredibly cheap & no one apparently cares if you’re loud & inconsiderate.
