Prince Albert in East Cambridgeshire

Had food on the Friday night, whilst visiting our son and his partner in Ely. We all had fish and chips, which were lovely. Staff great and friendly

Nice local pub with good food and real ale. Most of our group of walkers enjoyed their sandwiches, and I my pigeon breast!

Not your normal Greene King fayre here, so was pleasantly surprised at the menu. Food was good (potato skins really nice) but had to give up the table so unable to sample the puddings.

Came here for food one evening while working in the area. The food was excellent and well presented, (I had Sausage and mash). The service was also excellent.

Mediocre food at best - chef had a nightmare with his ‘catch of the day’ Although the management thought it appropriate to charge us for a sub-standard dish I suppose we were just lucky that they didn’t charge us extra for the CLING FILM that was still wrapped around the poorly cooked fish!! Unbelievable- keep your eyes peeled folks

Wonder gluten free food available, really good to have staff that actually care and help people with food allergies enjoy a Christmas dinner!

A large group of us had a 3 course Xmas lunch. The food , service and good choice of drinks was very good . Would highly recommend a visit when in Ely. We’ll certainly be back ..

A lovely pub with a great garden. Even though I've known about the pub for years. It's not one I've used much, I will now. Might even try some food next time as the smells coming from the kitchen were very nice.

A really nice pub. Great range of real ales and ciders. The food was very good. We had a Sunday roast. Only small criticism was there was not much meat on the roast. The staff were very professional and friendly. Plenty of people in when we went. Various seating areas inside and out.

Good food, fair portions, fair price. Good service. Some street parking, and a car park not too far. Can get very busy so you might want to book a table.

Beautiful place for a graduation

Good hot but one carrot in the jalfrezi does not make it a vegetable jalfrezi. Disappointing.

Good value, tasty food, great friendly staff.

It's a nice place for a drink but the food has gone downhill in recent times. It's quite expensive for what it is and the quality isn't where it should be. For example, my mushroom risotto was undercooked and quite hard, the fish and chips was quite bland and over-priced for what it was. It's a shame as we used to love eating there. The desserts were quite good though. Hopefully it's just a temporary blip.

Very pretty, very good traditional cask ale pub within easy walking distance from Ely Cathedral or Oliver Cromwell's house. Eight cask ales are available on tap, plus some kegged options. While the inside is comfy and spacious, it's really the expansive beer garden to the back that makes the pub special (apart from the very good cask selection, of course). Very good seating in pleasant weather, and the weather WAS pleasant at the time of my visit in August. Service was a bit spotty, but that didn't detract from the overall good experience. A pub you'll visit for both the beer and the setting!

We popped in today for a quick drink en route to another establishment. The service was quick and friendly and we sat outside in the lovely garden. However the price here was ridiculous. My OH had a pint of beer ( nothing special) and I had a pint of lager shandy. The total price came to over £11! This was probably over a fiver more than other places in town and I was drinking wine rather than shandy. For this reason, sadly, I wouldn’t rush back.

I've returned to The Prince Albert over five times now, mainly because of the quality of the food served here. I have never left feeling disappointed. It's a lovely little gem of a pub and I'd recommend it fully to anyone looking for a casual place to eat/drink in Ely.

Sunday roast (beef)muy bueno, uno de los mejores que he probado. La salsa gravy en su punto, espesa y sabrosa. El pastel de carne muy bien cocinado y muy completo. Las salchichas muy sabrosas. Muy recomendable.

Highly recommend! The staff were very accommodating to our group occupying two tables for the entire afternoon on a busy Sunday as we were passing through town and meeting up with old friends.

We went to the Prince Albert for Sunday lunch today and it was outstanding, had the roast pork and roast beef dinners and it is clear the chef knows what he’s doing. Beef was medium rare and melt in the mouth, veggies weren’t over cooked and the pork with crackling was delicious. We followed this with the chocolate brownie and lime roulade desserts and again both were faultless, the lime roulade was so so refreshing. This pub is not to be missed. Also big shout out for the staff who were attentive and only too happy to help, we will definitely be returning.

This quiet and unassuming pub is a gem of a find - it is a 6-minute walk from the Cathedral and is worth the walk. Get out your map and make the effort. The pub looks a bit tired but it is SPOTLESS and the cooking is out of this world. We had spent all morning in the Cathedral taking photos and enjoying the rich history and the exhibitions that were running and needed a jolly good lunch and a pint - we stumbled on this pub and it was absolutely brilliant. It looks a bit dowdy and very unsophisticated but do not be fooled - the food is TERRIFIC. I had the best fish and chips I have ever had out for a luncheon. It was a very generous portion, the food was piping hot, the chips were crisp and HUGE and the tartare sauce was homemade, crunchy with capers, and scrumptious. The Guinness was also good and they had a really good range of zero-alcohol beers for the drivers. We could not manage a pudding as we were too full. I will be going back when next in Ely. My best pub meal out of 2023.

At last a pub run by competent professionals with the focus squarely on hospitality. Great selection on menu and hot freshly prepared delicious food cooked by a proper chef who clearly understands his trade. Large selection of well kept ales and delightful front of house staff who understood how to make you feel welcome - a credit to the pub. Throw in clean toilets and drinks served in sparkling clean glasses - job done! A great example of good old British pub hospitality! Struggling pub/restaurant owners should visit and learn lessons from this well run delightful find. Looking forward to a return visit soon!

Best selection of real ales in Ely superb selection and great atmosphere as well

Lovely pub with a small inside bar but a huge restaurant area and beer garden out the back. Didn’t get a chance to try the food but the pizzas and fish and chips we saw on other tables looked great and we will definitely go back to try.

A friendly back street pub with good food

The Prince Albert was busy for a Monday evening and I can understand why! This was an interesting and varied menu, and our meals were all of top restaurant quality. Presentation was excellent and portions were large. Ingredients were fresh and tasty, all in all a wonderful meal with friendly and prompt service. I’d highly recommend.

By far the best pub in Ely. Great selection of guest beers and wonderful food. Keeps the old style pub ambience inside and a great new garden room and garden tables for eating outside. Wonderful stuff, great service, and that’s why we keep coming here again and again.

A great night for our large group. Food was amazing. was pricey but it was also very good. Attentive staff and handled our questions well and were able to accommodate us. Would recommend.

The Prince Albert hosted a small wake, in their garden room, for my mum. They provided a buffet. The food was excellent and well presented, we were looked after incredibly well. The garden room was private and really wonderful and intimate. We had a lovely time in an otherwise sad day. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Prince Albert.

Friendly pub, with a welcoming cliental as well. Good range of beers from all over great the UK including Scotland. I tried a mild beer which I have not drunk for years. It was a revelation. Despite not eating there, we were served some bar snacks including some excellent roast tatties. Fabulous. Just to be open about this review, I had better say, that this is a traditional pub with a Sunday raffle and what could be better, I won a prize. Needless to say, this does not influence my review.

Lovely choice of beers, nice large beer garden

We had an excellent lunch at the Prince Albert after visiting Ely Cathedral Friday. Food and service were both wonderful. We would recommend and return.

Good service with nice food and drink.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch in this pub located in a quiet street a short distance from the Cathedral. The menu has plenty of interesting choices, not just pub grub. Fiery West African meat pie a winner! Very friendly service.

The Prince Albert offers an incredible 9 cask ales. They all seemed to be on and the beer was pretty good, well kept, a tribute to the landlord. We had simple sandwiches at lunch time and classic pub food in the evening. An ornate and utterly delicious chicken pie with mash and sausages with mash, both very generous helpings. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delightful pub, such a mix of old school pub with modern family feeling. Landlord great and helpful. Made my my little boy a gluten free fresh pizza base - incredible wood fired pizzas at good money. Just a lovely place to be and spend your afternoon away from the centre of Ely. Great beers, great wine, great soft drinks literally can’t fault it. Thoroughly recommend.

On arrival we were a party of 5 squeezed on a table.for four. Disgusting , fish gone off chunky chips replaced with tasteless frozen French fries. We sent back 3 meals terrible. We will not be returning. Expensive meals for absolute rubbish.

A village pub as you'd expect! Very welcoming and plenty of choice. Also good non alcoholic beers/ciders. Outside area with tables and an outbuilding making pizzas which looked really nice!! Well worth the visit.

Delicious Sunday lunch with family here. We were quickly seated in the beautiful outdoor dining room which was quiet and tucked away. We were then asked for drinks which were served promptly. We then ordered mains, my nut roast was very good. The potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese were a particular highlight. I was told pork belly was also fantastic. Overall, a delicious and efficient lunch.

Down to Earth run of the mill pub style, friendly with a good atmosphere. Good food at average prices. Most enjoyable, I would return.

We visited for the cask ale and we were not disappointed: 7 hand pulled ales plus one cider. We tried just one, Nero, a black IPA in style which was spectacular and wonderfully kept. The pub itself was no nonsense with a bubbling atmosphere and friendly staff and visitors. A great place to while away a couple of hours.

This the third occasion we have had lunch at The Prince Albert this winter. On each occasion the service as been friendly and efficient, the food (roasts) have been very good and very good value. We go on a Sunday and enjoy the leisurely pace of the service, not because it’s slow but because you are not hurried to leave the table. The real ales are well kept and there’s a good variety plus the wines are good value. Overall our favorite place and see no reason to go elsewhere.

On a recommendation we dropped into the Prince Albert today for lunch. The food was decent, especially the starters. But the service was slow and when we left the staff members were on their phones in the bar. We won't bother again.

We stopped into The Prince Albert after a friend recommended it. They were able to fit us in without a reservation. The food itself was lovely and the staff seem friendly and accommodating. The venue itself is massive, we were seated towards the front but the garden has a nice garden I imagine would be brilliant in the summer.

Came here for lunch with my family this weekend and were lucky we were able to book a large table last minute and they allowed dogs too, which is always a bonus. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely waitress, who's name was Becky....

What an absolute treat this was! The Prince Albert ticks all the boxes for what you'd expect for a nice traditional English pub. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to experience a good ol' fashioned British pub, with a wide selection of beers & great quality British food. I'd never eaten here before, but I'm so glad I did. Having lived abroad for the last 3 years - I was really craving a good quality Fish n' Chips and I got exactly that. Honestly, one of the nicest I've had since I can remember. A delicious golden crispy coating, delicate, juicy and flaky fish . Not too greasy at all and served with a nice mushy pea puree. Oh and the chips! Proper homemade hand-cut chips (chunky, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside) simply delish! The bar staff were extremely friendly, helpful, polite and observative - exactly what you want went dining out. Really great pub with a nice atmosphere, highly recommended!

Great covered patio and good food. I'm from Canada where table service is the norm, and I think that this pub has done a great job adapting to this style of hospitality.

Last Sunday we had looked around Ely’s lovely Cathedral and then needed to find somewhere for lunch. Tourist Information recommended the Prince Albert, but of course we hadn’t booked and they were busy, but the lady at front of house went out of her way...

Only stayed for an hour, for lunch. Very lovely sausage sandwich, highly recommended

The greatest pub in the world. Friendly clientele, marvelous atmosphere, fantastic food and a well thought out drink menu. The outside beer garden is brilliant on a sunny day but be quick to get a seat.

Proper pub with unexpectedly incredible food

Even though we arrived an hour late for our booking due to train delays our party didn't feel rushed at all. Food was good but the main appeal was the beautiful garden seating area. Nice to see it's dog friendly too!
