21 pounds for a Sunday roast in Ely is a little bit too much. Also the Sunday roast was not properly balanced in between vegetables and meat . For that price I was expecting more meat. And the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and without a hole. Again for the price I was expecting more. The prices of the beer is good.

Stopped for a quick lunch with the family and found the pub to be nice traditional feel with very friendly staff. Food was tasty but my only negative input is the cost. I had a burger and chips and for the price I would have expected probably having a double patty and not single, I think it was a tad overpriced for a pub burger. I think it should be around £3-4 cheaper for a single patty. Other than that is was a good nice chilled pub lunch in quiet area with friendly staff.

A lovely pub for locals & visitors, & is always a 'must visit' when I am in Ely. A Greene King pub, but with plenty of alternatives if you don't like their beers (I don't!). Wish my local was like this!

We visited this pub during our 2 night stay in Ely, we found the food so good we ate there both nights. The service was top class and staff were equally good. I couldn’t believe the quality of the food it was amongst the best we’ve had in any pub. I like real ale and they must have had about 8-10 on the pumps. There was also a good selection of largers on tap for those that like fizzy drinks. Well worth a visit.

We had a fantastic meal here with some friends over the weekend. We’ve been on a mission to find the best Sunday Roast in and around Ely, and we were not disappointed with the Prince Albert. Service was quick and friendly despite it being very busy, and the food was delicious. Really good flavours and well cooked meat. 10/10!

We went for lunch at 2 pm and it was not very busy anymore which suited us fine. The main courses were really nice and we all enjoyed them. The sweets were more of a mixed bag but the sticky toffee pudding was good. Service was slow considering the place was not busy though. Around 3 pm the garden started filling up which was good to see. Would visit again for the quality of the main courses.

I had he best steak and ale pie I have ever eaten.(and I have eaten a lot). The pie was very large with good quality lean meat, perfect pastry bottom, sides with a perfect cap. The price was also very reasonable and in line with pub food not inflated resurant prices.

Just an amazing experience. The food was delicious, three of us had burgers (one vegetarian), which were made with the freshest ingredients, and one of the party had a steak and ale pie, which was impressive in size and quality. The salads and vegetable accompaniments were fresh. Staff were professional and friendly. We turned up on Beer Festival night- we had booked and were assured that we could still have a peaceful meal in the restaurant which was spot on. The bill was very reasonable.

The place offers a modern restaurant but the gem is the old fashioned bar. This is a pub that my father would have felt at home in and the range of hand-pulled bitters / ales on offer reflects that. Bit of a time warp but a throwback to an era where the quality of the beer was the main draw. Take your dad!

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but what it offers inside is what truly matters... My wife, son, and I decided to stop in for dinner here after our trip to Ely to see the cathedral, castle mount, and the other touristy offerings of this unassuming English village. (We had a wonderful time perusing the little town, but that's another matter altogether). We saw this place on our way towards the big attractions and decided to give this place a shot on our way out. We are so glad we did... From the front door you are greeted with their small, unassuming bar and a foyer area where you can sit and drink your pint. A few of the locals were there already imbibing and enjoying a few and were helpful in making my selection of what to drink this evening. We arrived at 4pm and had to wait for 5pm for dinner to be served, but no worries, we past the time playing family games they had for offerings while we waited for the dinner time to arrive. Once it did, we each chose what we preferred from the menu. I chose the quintessential Bangers and Mash, while my wife had their steak, and my son had a hamburger on pretzel bun - all of it arrived fast, fresh, and delicious. As an appetizer we picked the mozzarella balls - a bit small but still tasty and still enough for the three of us. For dessert we each had their sticky toffee pudding with chocolate cake and salted caramel ice cream - it was to die for. The indoor decor is classic "British Pub" to me - all the wood tables, chairs, the dim lighting, it all simply looked good. They also have the biggest and most extensive beer garden I have ever laid my eyes upon - easily a place that can cater a big event like a wedding or big-number birthday. (I know I would celebrate one here, without a doubt.) I think the only nit on the place was the service - though friendly and efficient, I wish they had been a bit more attentive - especially since we ate early on what appeared to be a slow Thursday night. Nonetheless, we walked away more than satisfied and happy to have chose this place to spend the latter part of our day at Ely. If you are ever in the area, this is a must-go-and-try...

My husband and I and our toddler enjoy sitting in the Prince Albert pub garden to have a drink with friends. It is friendly to kids and dogs. I also had a large gathering of friends for an event in their garden room and the buffet food was delicious, fresh and cooked on site. They even catered for a gluten free and vegan requests. There was music and the staff were wonderful. The price per person was also very reasonable. It is my favourite pub in Ely.

It's a nice place for a drink but the food has gone downhill in recent times. It's quite expensive for what it is and the quality isn't where it should be. For example, my mushroom risotto was undercooked and quite hard, the fish and chips was quite bland and over-priced for what it was. It's a shame as we used to love eating there. The desserts were quite good though. Hopefully it's just a temporary blip.

Very pretty, very good traditional cask ale pub within easy walking distance from Ely Cathedral or Oliver Cromwell's house. Eight cask ales are available on tap, plus some kegged options. While the inside is comfy and spacious, it's really the expansive beer garden to the back that makes the pub special (apart from the very good cask selection, of course). Very good seating in pleasant weather, and the weather WAS pleasant at the time of my visit in August. Service was a bit spotty, but that didn't detract from the overall good experience. A pub you'll visit for both the beer and the setting!

We popped in today for a quick drink en route to another establishment. The service was quick and friendly and we sat outside in the lovely garden. However the price here was ridiculous. My OH had a pint of beer ( nothing special) and I had a pint of lager shandy. The total price came to over £11! This was probably over a fiver more than other places in town and I was drinking wine rather than shandy. For this reason, sadly, I wouldn’t rush back.

We went to the Prince Albert for Sunday lunch today and it was outstanding, had the roast pork and roast beef dinners and it is clear the chef knows what he’s doing. Beef was medium rare and melt in the mouth, veggies weren’t over cooked and the pork with crackling was delicious. We followed this with the chocolate brownie and lime roulade desserts and again both were faultless, the lime roulade was so so refreshing. This pub is not to be missed. Also big shout out for the staff who were attentive and only too happy to help, we will definitely be returning.

This quiet and unassuming pub is a gem of a find - it is a 6-minute walk from the Cathedral and is worth the walk. Get out your map and make the effort. The pub looks a bit tired but it is SPOTLESS and the cooking is out of this world. We had spent all morning in the Cathedral taking photos and enjoying the rich history and the exhibitions that were running and needed a jolly good lunch and a pint - we stumbled on this pub and it was absolutely brilliant. It looks a bit dowdy and very unsophisticated but do not be fooled - the food is TERRIFIC. I had the best fish and chips I have ever had out for a luncheon. It was a very generous portion, the food was piping hot, the chips were crisp and HUGE and the tartare sauce was homemade, crunchy with capers, and scrumptious. The Guinness was also good and they had a really good range of zero-alcohol beers for the drivers. We could not manage a pudding as we were too full. I will be going back when next in Ely. My best pub meal out of 2023.
