Tried Roost out for lunch with a gluten intolerant family member. Food was OK if a little on the small side…smashed avocado on toast really needs more than 1 slice of small bread. The menu is really quite limited. The table was sticky which was not a good start. We expected the staff to be very friendly. Sadly disappointed. No welcome when we got there, a wait before being served when ordering our food…I don’t have a problem eating if they are busy but I do expect an acknowledgement. And then no goodbye when leaving. Shame and we won’t be returning

Popped in for a Saturday morning coffee. Decided to have poached eggs on toast. This can be hit and miss but the eggs here were perfectly cooked. The toast was gorgeous. All washed down with a nice cappuccino. This is a great place for food, coffee or to work from as they have good WiFi.

I really like this cafe for the quality ingredients they use, it is 100% gluten free and I believe they don’t use refined sugar but healthier alternatives like maple syrup and coconut sugar. It’s also great that it is dog friendly. However the only negative’s I have experienced is the food and drinks coming out luke warm and not hot! Which was disappointing and it’s happened on a few occasions. And also the tables not being wiped down even when you are sitting there for a while waiting and then have to request it. The staff are very friendly but the service could be better. Maybe they are understaffed..

Ordered a chicken wrap and veggie wrap. Feel like we should have been given some pre-warning that the wrap is not what you would expect. It was soggy and almost fleshy. Decided to ditch the wrap to try and just eat the filling at which point we established the the sweet potato pakoras were dense and dry. Gave up on it altogether. The chicken was similar to the pre-packaged, pre-sliced meat you can get at the supermarket. No flavour, no texture. We filled up on the tortilla chips as they were the only edible thing there and then we just got out of there. Three hours later and both of us still feel like the food is sitting on our stomachs. We won't be back.

Absolutely amazing! We loved Roost so much, not only does the food taste incredible but it has such a focus on health and well-being. My fiancé had the bacon, eggs and smashed avocado on sourdough and he said it was the best he’d ever had! I had the chunky monkey overnight oats and it was so filling, full of yummy goodness! The music was so uplifting and the staff were so happy and welcoming. They answered every question we had with detail and a huge smile. Dogs are welcome so that’s always a huge bonus !!

I took my wife here for breakfast having already visited and enjoyed a poached egg breakfast three times in the last month with a group of friends. I recommend and ordered poached eggs on toast for us both, the very dish I’ve had and enjoyed previously with friends and a coffee each. When you pay by card a tip is requested before you’ve received any kind of service via the card reader which I find a little presumptuous but as on previous visits a generous tip was paid in advance. After a while our coffees arrived and we requested the warm milk to go with them we were met with a roll of the eyes by the server who was clearly not happy with the request but they did bring back some warm milk. When our food arrived we had quite a shock. It came on a side plate containing one very small, thin piece of bread, possibly rye bread but I’m not sure. It was warmed but I wouldn’t describe as toasted with two eggs and three small tomatoes. This was very different to same meals I’ve bought from the same menu three times in the last month. The quantity appeared tiny when compared to previous occasions and in my opinion had little or no taste. It also wasn’t the type of bread in the menu. I did raise these points instantly to the server score they left who’s first response was that this is how it always comes. I did point out that I was in last only about a week or so ago and this was definitely not what I’ve been served in previous visits or which is listed in the menu to which they admitted they have changed the ingredients of the dish to that on the menu. This was how it would be in the future. Our feed back on the quantity and quantity of food provided was not well received although another piece of bread was proved after some discussion although it arrived long after our food was cold and many other customers were served. Another member of staff came over and said that we could not expect two pieces of the bread in future as the price would have to be increased. In all I paid over £20 for a small, tasteless and uninspiring side plate with a large helping of eye rolling and huffing. I won’t be back.

Popped in for a quick breakfast, usually a great experience . Order 2 x poached eggs on toast and two coffees which was around £20 . Food came and there were two poached eggs on a wafer think small piece of toast not the lovely sourdough toast we’ve had before . I questioned this and was told this is the new bread and as it’s dense we only get one slice . In the end she bought us another slice but to be honest the bread tasted awful . I was then told it’s the new rules ! And if people wanted more than one slice then they would have to pay more , I said I’d rather pay for something that I would enjoy eating ! . So if you are the owner I hope you take the feedback on board as for one we won’t be back which is a shame as we liked to support local businesses

Not a great deal of choice in Bagshot. Thought we’d give it a try. Looks welcoming and nice interiors. Sat at a table which was sticky and unpleasant, However we asked for it to be cleaned and the waiter spilled glass of water over us in the process. We got a bit damp. But these things happen. Nonetheless we ordered at the bar- was asked if we wanted to give a tip- although we had no idea if the service or food etc would be good. Coffee arrived- not sure what milk was used as tasted strange. Wrap was rather soggy too when arrived - perhaps as it was gluten free- not sure. Maybe we were just having a damp visit Sadly. Noticed others sending things back during our visit and one tanks nit happy with their poached eggs lol The manager seemed lovely however and keen to please, giving Mother’s Day gifts to the ladies - a nice touch. Advice- give it a try and support a local business

I cannot fault it! The staff were all so friendly and made us feel like no request was too big. They altered one of the dishes on the menu for me to make it vegan (and even made a completely vegan sauce from scratch!) It is a really welcoming environment and the food itself was a great quality. We got a cheeky cake to take away too! An all round brilliant experience - I'd highly recommend a visit!

We come down for a late lunch as my friend is gluten free and it was lovely. I had a bone broth which you must try it was delicious and I am definitely coming back for this! We both had poached eggs on sourdough and side of avocado 🥑. I would have given this place 5 stars ⭐️ but unfortunately the sourdough was very dry with limited butter so made it really chewy. The avocado mix was overpowering with lime which is made it quite sour and difficult to eat. My friends avocado wasn’t as sharp as mine. The online menu wasn’t the same as in house but I would return.

This place is gorgeous. The cafe at Lightwater Country Park was closed so googled the nearest dog friendly cafe and stumbled upon Roost. The menu is an absolute delight. I had a turmeric latte which was golden, warm and coconutty followed by a roasted aubergine salad. Super fresh, nutritious, very generous portions and all so guilt free! My daughter had half a waffle with fruit and a berry smoothie. My dog was given a bowl of water and the staff were helpful smiling and glowing! Can't wait to try other menu options. I visited roost with my daughter with the intention of having a coffee and then maybe a light lunch, however I went to the counter to order where 2 ladies were preparing drinks for other customers. I stood there for a good 5/6 minutes and during that time had no acknowledgment of my presence. A mere hello or I’ll be with you in a moment is not too taxing for someone with good customer service skills so regretfully I left as I felt awkward and self conscious which was a shame as the cafe had a nice atmosphere and decor. Sadly will not be returning and as we live locally won’t recommend to friends and neighbours.

We’ve eaten here a number of times since it opened, breakfast and lunch. The food is always freshly prepared and the coffee/tea is good. Staff are always friendly too. There are quite a lot of reviews which state that it’s expensive. In my view the quality of the ingredients justify the prices. Especially given this is a local independent cafe and therefore won’t be bulk buying like chain restaurants can. My only comment, to enhance the atmosphere a little would be to have some background music on.

We had a breakfast here last weekend as it’s all gluten free. The cafe is clean and well situated in Bagshot with good parking opposite behind the Co-op. We had waffles with blueberry compote a little disappointing as the waffle was bland and perhaps needed a little sugar and salt to improve flavour. Compote was cold and would have been improved with just a few fresh blueberries. Greek yogurt was nice. Tea was served on tray with egg timer for adjusting strength of tea which was a nice touch. All in all we will try it again perhaps a hot breakfast next time

My boyfriend and I have visited here a few times now and liked if from the start, despite the price, that whilst we apprieciate the location and ingredients being sourced locally, there is still no justification for the extensive prices charged - particularly for ingredients in their shop. The amount they ask for pink himalayan salt for example is just astronimical compared to everywhere else you can buy it! That said, as the odd treat if you don’t mind blowing a small fortune on some quirky food thats healthier than a greasy spoon it’s a good novalty and a nice environment. Staff are always friendly.

Had breakfast with family here, coffee was good, food was fresh, staff were lovely. Only thing is food portion is too small compare to the price! For example, an approx £8 salmon on avocado you literally only get some cooked salmon on top of a little crushed avocado, with some salad by the side. Even the plate is tiny. Not the best value that we’d normally get from the price we pay for a £10 pp breakfast.

There’s not another cool cafe like this in the area and they are trying to do something interesting and discerning. After having been to Thorpe Park the day before, my boyfriend and I decided to get breakfast somewhere local. As we are both vegans, we searched on trip advisor, and to our delight, Primal Roost came up stating it had vegan options. We decided to give it a try. The decor was cute... but one does not simply go to a cafe for the interior design. We looked through the (small) menu and could not see anything vegan...even though at the top of the menu it said the food was gluten, dairy free etc... We went up to the counter and asked if there was anything vegan as their profile on TripAdvisor said there would be... apparently the only thing they had that was vegan was their cookies. We were not pleased to hear that they only thing we could eat for breakfast was a cookie! Also... why does your menu state your food is dairy free when you use eggs? On a positive note... as vegans... we very much appreciate your slightly more ethical approach.

The ordering system seems a little confusing do to lack of a proper menu? That said, they are trying to appeal to an audience that is focused on healthy, fresh, local food. Is that right for Bagshot .... not sure. The tea is quality .... no tea bags. The menu, a little limited perhaps, is better than the usual coffee shop. I had a Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap, which I found disappointing. Leg meat too. I expected hot (?) but it was Ice cold, with cucumber and cherry tomatoes. My partner had Frittata with salads and bread which was great! Others nearby had the warm dish of the day that smelt and looked great too and Wraps with salads and Coleslaw! Maybe a menu with a full description of what is included may help? Also, the tables are a little cramped once full & we had a fairly long wait. But .... nicely done out, trying hard and we will go back!

I've only been twice but plan to find the time to go more. So far only tried coffee and sweet things which have all been fantastic. The food shows that a Paleo diet is possible and still tasty. The food, the reading material and the deli are all quite inspirational but it's not 'heavy handed', anyone could come and enjoy the food which doesn't seem to taste 'free from....'. It is a little more expensive but everyone knows good quality ingredients are more expensive. Staff are very friendly and there's a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Great venue for anyone with food intolerances.

I've just come back from primal roost after my first visit. The food was lovey, friendly staff and decor was great too. I had the sweet chilli chicken wrap which was full of flavour. I thought it was nice touch that they used fresh ingredients. People have said that they didn't get much meat with their choices however i didn't have that problem at all. The chicken wasn't dry at all either. I also had a slice of banana and choc chip loaf which was very tasty too. It's great that we now have a lovely fresh and healthy alternative cafe to go to which is local. Even though its slightly more expensive than your average cafe you have to remember healthy food and ingredients really aren't cheap but at roost it seems they are trying to keep cost down. I'm a happy customer and will definitely be going back

The café is based on a Paleo diet plan. The Muffins and cakes are incredible. Especially the Salted Caramel Cup Cakes. Coffee is also really good

Living a Paleo/primal lifestyle makes eating out a little difficult. Roost has not only made it so easy but delicious at the same time! Great food, coffee and very friendly service makes it a brilliant place for anyone to visit (not just those who follow a Paleo diet). We even travel about 45min to "pop in for a cuppa" worth it, trust me!

This is something you would like to keep to yourself, the food is great gluten free, alternative tastes which are great, we travel from Surbiton, its well worth the visit we love all the food the stew and soups are great, the cakes are divine, the staff are kind and friendly and the owners pioneers, I do hope they open more establishments and take over from the junk food. I can see someone has mentioned the pricing, but for us you cannot put a price in front of your health.

Third visit here and it continues to be excellent. Delicious, fresh, tasty food from knowledgeable, friendly staff. The pantry is also well stocked with items that can be tricky to source.

This really is a lovely place, decor is good, range of products on sale is excellent. The idea is great - this is wonderful way to eat, and while I understand that the ingredients are expensive, I've marked this place down as it is too pricey. I won't be going back because of this.....

What an amazing place. All the food is dairy/gluten free so my husband can relax and enjoy himself without worrying about what he is eating. Friendly service, good food, plenty of choice and I can stock up on various groceries too.

My first visit, and I was very impressed with the homely feel of this cafe serving only fresh, non processed grain free, gluten free, dairy free food and drink. Friendly and efficient service, clean and welcoming. The interior shop was a great addition, allowing you to purchase food and ingredients to ensure you can make anything in the clean and lean/ paleo cook books.I had an almond milk latte and the soup of the day served with some very tasty grain free bread. The prices are slightly above average but as to be expected for this type of food. I shall definately return again to sample the breakfast waffles which sound divine!

I've visited Roost many times and it's always been really enjoyable. The coffee is excellent! Properly done to a very high standard. Quality! Can't say I'm a fan of the whole the paleo thing but I must say that the beef stew is very good. The staff are all really friendly which adds to the atmosphere of the place. I love the decor. In my books this place is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend trying a "Flat White".

If you like a good cuppa, you will like how they serve tea. Good old fashioned tea leaves to start with, non of this tea bag nonsense, 3 separate timers with your pot to calibrate the brew to your taste, this is well thought through.

Good coffee and food, with nice staff. This is a primal eating house with only food served from a paleo background.

The decor is tasteful, the staff are so helpful and friendly. I love the ethos and the food is delicious. People who don't think it is probably are used to eating rubbish processed foods. The recipes are adventurous and we loved it. I like the 'library' of books too. The only negative I have is I wish it was closer and there were more of these types of restaurants around!!

Popped in for something to eat and a hot drink for the first time earlier this week, after finding myself with 90 or so minutes to kill between business meetings.I ordered a chicken chilli wrap and a large white Americano, and was served by a delightfully chirpy and polite young lady.My order arrived within about 10 minutes, with a smile, and was really nicely presented. The innards of the wrap were very tasty, but the only downside - and this isn't the fault of cafe, but more to so with the texture of gluten-free bread products, was the tortilla wrap surrounding it was a bit slimy and tasteless.Just to reiterate, that's a common complaint made about most gluten-free breads, and is not intended as a dig at the cafe owners, as the service was great. My order cost £7.50 in total, but you really do get what you pay for here, as all the food is organic, responsibly sourced and dairy-, grain-, and gluten-free, and is understandably going to cost more for them to source. It was approaching 3pm when I arrived, but the place was still pretty busy - with a mix of yummy mummies and retired folks taking up the tables in there.I still managed to get a nice table to myself by the window. I will definitely return, because I need to try as their cake selection looked amazing and I need to see if the looks match the taste!

My friend and I visited for lunch and chit chat. I am gluten sensitive so eating out can be very tricky but Primal Roost is paleo, clean and gf. Everything is made in their own kitchen from locally sourced produce and guaranteed gf. We had their homemade cauliflower soup with bread and it was simply delicious. The service was very good and friendly. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about the foods on their menu. They also have a small shop area for purchasing gf products and books. Can't wait to visit again. I would highly recommend it even if you aren't gf.

I work as a business consultant & travel a lot with my job. Getting healthy good food is difficult most of the time. Passing Roost I noticed they were a gluten free cafe & had a selection of loose leaf tea's.Popped in, wasn't hopeful but OMG what an amazing place. The menu was plentiful?, the food was so taste with fantastic flavours. I have eaten there for the last 3 weeks mostly everyday for lunch. My favourite is the beef & prune stew.. Wow.. The cakes on display are just to die for coupled with many favours of loose tea in your very own tea pot :) The staff are so professional, very knowledgeable of the ingredients, polite & always happy to see you.My feedback title "I smile when I think of this place" is my reaction when I think of this beautiful place. Thank you to all at Roost,Matthew.

It was lovely to welcome another independent business to Bagshot. Roost promises to offer high quality food and drink from carefully sourced suppliers and promotes a healthy lifestyle based on the paleo framework (fresh, unprocessed food). This is a great idea but i'm not convinced this concept offers value for money or a varied enough menu. I went for coffee and granola with compote (adding natural yogurt was an extra £1) the coffee was very good, and the granola was tasty but at nearly £10 I was taken aback and it hasn't spurred me to visit again. The decor was nice but the cafe needed some background music as I spent my meal trying not to listen to a business meeting held on the opposite table.

Went for coffee and a snack last week with a friend who is a vegetarian. She wanted a piece of fratatta, there were three options none of which were vegetarian. We had coffee and a piece of cake which was lovely. I do feel a small slice of cake at £3.80 is rather expensive. Personally I would like something like a panini to be available. Whilst sitting there three people walked in and wanted something like a panini which wasn't available and they left. Also a bit of background music would be nice especially if not many customers are in . I like the interior very much, just feel more could be made of it.

Back to try the place for lunch. Outstanding quality food and local roasted coffee. My wife tried the herbal tea which was also very impressive. Bill came to less than £15. Will come back again to try the Salt Beef wrap which the guy on the next table said was really good. Staff were cheery and helpful.

We visited early on Saturday morning and were the first customers of the day. I ordered the spinach and mushroom frittata. It was very tasty with a hint of the coconut oil it was cooked in. I had a banana and date muffin as a chaser and it probably needed to be warmed slightly. Overall, I would recommend this new addition to Bagshot High Street for breakfast or brunch. The coffee is also excellent. Even though this is promoted for it's paleo leanings it isn't hardcore, so don't be put off with the label...

Lovely spot for lunch to watch the planes if you have a couple of days on your hands, service was incredibly slow despite it not being particularly busy. Would recommend getting your order in the day before! When the food finally arrived almost an hour after ordering it was overpriced rubbish. If we had been warned it would be been over an hour for a cheese toastie and a dismal fry up we wouldn’t have bothered.

Hit and miss depending on what you order. The chocolate mud cake and red velvet cake are always a good shout. The muffins are often dry. I've had paninis twice there and twice the contents are cold even when the bread is hot. Biggest bug about this place is they won't buy / serve semi-skimmed milk. Not a particularly comfortable place to sit. They could invest in a few comfy chairs or sofa.

I dropped in here last week and had a wonderful, friendly welcome and arranged a custom-made cake for my husband’s birthday, with just a couple of days notice. It looked fabulous on collection and tasted delicious. I’ve also purchased ‘thank you teacher’ cupcakes from La-di-da before and the team we’re really helpful and made some gorgeous cupcakes. I will be back and recommend to one and all!
