Pride of Lincoln in North Kesteven

I had beef, partner had turkey. Serving even smaller than a Toby paltry serving. Roast potatoes anaemic. Brussels like bullets. Only other veg there I eat were carrots, Al dente but edible. Partners turkey was fine. My beef was a good 50% gristle. As the manager came past he asked how our food was. I’m not a complainer but I did make an observation about the meat (and Brussels). He couldn’t have been more apologetic and fetched me a serving of turkey (and a ‘proper’ size serving). I bought home a slice of lemon gateau. While the one on display looked perfect, the piece I got was stodgy. Would we come back? I don’t know. The Toby in the town isn’t very good so that’s not an option. Until about a year ago I had never had a bad meal at Windmill Farm but the quality has got worse and their meat serving is now stingy. BUT can not fault the front of house staff. They have always been friendly and cheerful.

Great food and service as always. Felicity took our order, brought drinks over and cleared the table and was friendly, bubbly and polite!

I read the reviews for this place but when I got there I wondered if I'd been reading about some other venue. We arrived on Sunday evening for a family birthday party/get together and I parked in their huge, crammed car park. Inside was just as busy. Some of the impressions I formed included kids yelling to one another over in the play area, babes in arms wailing, people crushed up against the bar waiting to be served, harassed staff running around like headless chickens and customers loading up enormous quantities of food on their plates at the carvery. It was bedlam! Perhaps wishing to add a myocardial infarction to my other woes, I chose the scampi and chips, brought to our table by a cheerful but clearly over-worked member of staff. Her offering certainly wasn't worth the £10.49 I paid. Think seven lonely scampi huddling at one side of an incredibly heavy dinner plate, accompanied by a few passable chips and a small but slightly dehydrated gathering of garden peas. I suppose the place operates on the Wetherspoon's model (shovel out large quantities to the unfastidious, with a low profit margin on huge numbers). I can't think of any other reason why this sort of place exists or, indeed, why it does. So, after all this frenetic dining - most of the time trying to hear ourselves think - we departed sadder, a little poorer but much, much wiser.

1'st but definitely not the last time we will be eating in this establishment. Where do I start, on walking through the doors the staff were so helpful and highly knowledgeable! Of all parts of the restaurant, from where to seat 9 of us to what they had to offer. We were there for a birthday meal and wow what a meal. We had two of the sharing starters, Most of us had carvery ( better in my opinion than main stream carvery places) very warm the carvery was very polite and had time to talk to each and every person. There was one child with us there food looked of good quality, and one adult was eating from the main menu good food also. Then the dessert wow no more to be said. Can't wait to come back thanks to the whole team. Sorry no photo to busy eating

Quick efficient service. Food served and delivered with a smile, all bar one man in the carvery who has had a personality bypass. Pity about the number of flies in the dining area! An annoying addition to the lovely company I otherwise had.

Lovely carvery all day every day. Food was fresh, beef melted in mouth, atmospheres very good. Parking easy . No need to book

Brilliant staff. Great food. Nice simple room, basic but clean and comfortable. Free parking (register your car on arrival) and very easy run in to Lincoln from there.

Been to windmill several times before for their excellent cavery but this is the first time I tried their breakfast buffet and we wasn't disappointed. Got a friendly reception from the lady on the till and made us very welcome and the breakfast was amazing .so much to choose from and the food was piping hot and cooked perfectly. Cant wait to go again .. we woukd highly recommend to anyone that likes a hot breakfast to go and try..

Have been here a few times when visiting family in Lincoln. Never been dissatisfied but tonight was the best visit to date. From the friendly greeting on the door, the the chef who was chatty and funny, to the main event, the delicious carvery, it was really great. For a change I had a large plate, which I just about got through. 3 meats all tender and tasty, usual range of spuds and veg. Cauli cheese and the tastiest onion gravy. Unfortunately I don’t have a farmhouse Inn where I live but I do have this and the one at Kempston on my stop off favs Thank you

The food was excellent with plenty of choice. It was really busy on a Sunday but the staff were very calm and friendly, made me feel welcome and was very helpful with informing me how to place orders. I would highly recommend others to come here and give absolute praise to the staff. 10 out of 10.

Great atmosphere, we stopped here for lunch whilst travelling back from Skegness. It was lovely, the food was incredible but the service was above and beyond. We were served by a lady called Diane who was so welcoming and warm and even sorted change for us so we could access the machines for our children. We had other members of staff approach us and ask if we needed anything during our meals. A truly great team!

Liam was amazing and even came to check in on my meal and offered me a cup of tea or coffee and a cake to either eat in or go. Seams like a lovely young man well mannered.

Just had a great afternoon with my family - the food was excellent and the service was very good, especially our waitress but I cannot remember her name. She was so helpful with some of the guests who wanted gluten free puddings etc. Will certainly come again. We were on table 46

Fantastic staff, excellent food and plenty of options, decent child play area that is at one end of the restaurant. This is good if you don’t like the clamour of kids playing. Hotel attached and function rooms are also available but we have not used these.

Hit most likely the busiest time of the day on a Sunday. Rammed packed. Had to wait 40mins for a table but the food was spot on! I was told to say Lewis was 100% 5 stars. He did do everything he could for us. I was also told I would get a free round of drinks or something for doing this...? Not sure how I would get that, but if Lewis could let me know that would be great.

I asked my daughter, where would you like to go for a meal during half term and she chose here. Firstly there is lots of free parking spaces. Warm , friendly and attentive service, both at the bar , front of house , management and today we were served at the table by Diane who checked that we were enjoying our meal. My daughter says this is the best roast dinner she has, and gives the carvery a 9.8 The service 9 , I would say a ten . The chef is always friendly and chats as he serves you . You get a choice of three meats , gammon , beef and turkey There is all trimmings, from parsnips , Yorkshire puddings, to cauliflower cheese to crispy roast potatoes It's like a full Christmas dinner. The plate sizes come in child size , which today was a pound , and in a cost of living crisis was great value for half term and there is a child play area For a adults there is small , medium and large. The dessert choice is huge , we chose a Mars attack cake 🍰 which was indulgence personified and there is a huge lost of ice cream too. You can also get 20 percent off if you work for a company who has the blue light card QR codes . Decided to do a collection for the first time. When I turned up, the staff were very efficient. It was as busy as ever but only took a few moments to collect my order. The food was still hot enough to when I got home and there was a huge amount. Will definitely order again. Thank you!
