The food and service we had here on our recent date night were top notch. I purchased a 3 course meal from buyagift, and when I informed our lovely waitress she was very happy to bring over the modified menu. She checked in on us throughout our meal and was very friendly. The food was also tasty and fresh and didn’t skimp on the portions. The only issue with this place was it was so loud! I understand it’s a prezzo on a Saturday night, but as the room is just one big room that echos with no cosy corners or separate dining rooms for large groups, I could barely hear my husband across the table. I’m not sure what they could do to fix this tbh, just poor design of a restaurant.

Booked a table online as it was half term kids eat for free. Waited ages to order and no garlic bread arrived for the kids so told the server. Still not turned up so had to go and find a member of staff and asked again. Still not turned up got up and asked again it did turn up after we had all finished our meal. The bill was wrong we were overcharged. Very rude staff when trying to sort this out .No tap water in the toilet tables not cleared very unhappy staff . Took a long time to have the meal will never go gagin.

We have visited this Prezzo a few times but hadn’t been back for a long time because the service we received last time was so poor (forgotten, incorrect and late items). I was due a free bottle of Prosecco so decided to brave it again! I’m pleased to say that this experience was much better. The young woman that served us was really hard working and busy but we still Got what we ordered in a good time and the food was lovely. There were a few staff stood around though, which looked a bit odd when it was so busy. I don’t know why that might have been and there could be a good reason, but it didn’t seem right when one member of staff was working so hard.

After a previous meal, I won 40% off the next visit and so came here for tea with a friend. The Saltimbocca Chicken Sage (chicken, prosciutto and sage, potato and cabbage) was a fairly hearty meal- about as good as a chain gets, really.

I'm a regular diner at York Vangarde , however today the Saltimbocca Chicken dish was more than disappointing. I had this a couple o weeks' ago in August and it was splendid. Today it was was very moderate and unappetising. I'd was looking forward for a week to this dish but was so disappointed. Last week I chose a Chicken Ceasar Salad to savour my appetite, so you can imagine how l let down I was!!

Nice, casual restaurant, looking at the waiting customers we thought it'd be a while before service, but I think we'd hit it at the right time, 5pm, as the staffing suddenly multiplied! Our food came quickly. I had a nice Chicken Caesar Salad, unfortunately there was no parmasan cheese or croutons in it, and the waiting staff didn't ask if i wanted any parmasan or black pepper added. My husbands Calzone was nice and not too cheesy! (Which was good for him, as he doesn't like cheese!)

Whilst out and about on a day trip to York we thought we’d try Prezzo’s new ‘square shaped’ Pinsa pizza. Hmm. Not bad. It was a nice change from the standard pizza. The crust was thicker and doughier and the toppings seemed tastier and there were more of them. Nice little restaurant and despite it closing early on our visit (because of the Euro football final) we were adequately attended to and not rushed. Grazie!

Called in for dinner after stopping to do a spot of food shopping. Food was fantastic, delicious Pasta and pizza, and amazing desserts! The only downside was that the service was a little slow even though they weren't particularly busy - the staff were chatting and left my coffee on the side for almost 5 minutes! Aside from that I will certainly return and would definitely recommend!

Not a good experience, the main meal arrived before we had even finished our starter but the waitress just left the main meals on our table, the Arancini starter has got to be the most tasteless one I have ever had, main meal Chicken Caesar Salad which was literally a bowl of lettuce & a tough chicken breast sliced on top & a drizzle of sauce that did not even taste like Caesar dressing, no croutons no Parmesan cheese this also the worst I have ever had, not many people in on a Saturday evening speaks volumes & then given the option to leave a tip, my tip is they need to up their game.

To start the server was slow to take our drink order (Sunday evening), then he took time in coming back to take our food order. We then waited an hour and no food came. The server didn’t notice we didn’t have food etc. We asked again, still nothing. After 1 hour 15 mins we still had no food, others around us that came in much later than us were eating (even those in a bigger party). When we questioned server he said the order had failed to go through to the kitchen and blamed computer failure. There was no apology or compensation. We paid for our drinks and left disgusted at the service.

As we had been shopping on the retail park, we decided to go for a late lunch. The staff were welcoming and the food was good. However, we will not go back due to the unisex toilets. I think a lot of women don't like unisex toilets, unfortunately, they were not particularly clean either. Such a shame.

Visited when on holiday in area. Typically always have a good experience in Prezzo. We all had starters, mains and puddings. Food came in a reasonable time and was delicious. Friendly staff and kids eat free offer was a bonus as it’s not particularly cheap. Only let down was the state of some of The unisex toilets which clearly need more frequent attention. Overall a great experience though and would visit again.

The restaurant could do with a deep clean, the last time we visited, the presentation was so much better. The glass on the windows as you walk in was filthy- not a good start, and then the seats in the booth were dirty had some sort of jam or fruit sauce on it, tables not clean, and the station to the left of the toilet area was also a mess (whatever that was used for). Service was poor, very slow, and no one was around to ask for a second round of drinks. Food was ok, but menus again felt dirty. Not a good feel to the place as we previously experienced unfortunately and therefore would not return.

Lovely start to a few days in York to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday. Delicious food and excellent service. Even got a free bottle of Prosecco on the house because of the delay with food, apparently someone off sick. We would definitely return. My daughter informs me we were there about 4 hrs .. that means we got good value for money .. always be positive

Friendly servers, seated quickly and order taken. Got busier and the wait for food became quite long for us and several other tables around us. Once food arrived tasty and nice. Took ages to get bill - it would be a good idea to have another member of staff on to seat people, coordinate food coming out in a timely way plus dealing with bills.

We went for a family lunch at 1230. When we arrived, it was apparent that there was absolutely chaos in the kitchen and staff were stressed. We waited an hour with two very patient children, but asked if our food had started cooking yet if not we had to go. Ten additional minutes later, they confirmed they hadn't started cooking our food so I had to break the news to my two and five year old. No one ever mentioned a wait in the kitchen - and they kept seating people after we'd had to walk out with no communication. I made a complaint and all i receieved was £15 off when I return and spend £50 and a 'thank you for choosing prezzo'. Avoid at all costs.

Went for a family meal,pre booked to take place before catching a movie. Manager greeted us and was smiley and pleasant.Waited 30 mins before anyone came to offer us drinks and order from the menu, drinks arrived some 15 mins after ordering, then another 10 mins went by and waiter informed us that two of the five starters were not available,so we order some more, these turned up another 20 mins later, looked good but as they say looks can be deceptive, they were bland. The mains came and, one order was wrong, the other four , two pasta dishes were cold and one over cooked and one just right, we had almost all finished by the time the correct fifth dish had come out. All in all not very impressed, spoke with the manager who apologized and applied a discount to the bill, informed the table that they were understaffed today. Don't get me wrong the discount was welcome but all I wanted was a nice family meal in an organized and timely fashion. This not what we got. Maybe it was a bad day but won't be going back.

The six of us (3 couples) finally met up for a long awaited get together at the end of Lockdown, and enjoyed a terrific afternoon, thanks to a combination of outstanding friendly, and prompt service from the Manager James and his highly professional Prezzo team. Mi compañero y yo vinimos para una comida de aniversario de último minuto después de habernos decepcionado en otro lugar, nos recibieron en la puerta todas las reglas de Covid explicadas y muy bien pensadas. Nuestra camarera, Georgia, fue una de las personas más agradables que creo que hemos conocido en el servicio al cliente, era simplemente una buena persona con quien tenerla y nada era un problema para ella. La comida era deliciosa y fresca y mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos. El restaurante y los baños estaban muy limpios. Al final de nuestra comida, cuando Georgia trajo nuestra factura, también trajo dos limoncello gratis para que celebremos nuestro aniversario y también habían comprado el cóctel que yo tenía. Fue una velada encantadora y estoy muy agradecido por el esfuerzo realizado por todo el personal, especialmente Georgia, para hacer que nuestra velada sea especial en estos tiempos tan extraños.

De Verdad? La mayoría de las personas en el lugar probablemente usaban cupones, así que obtenga los niveles de existencias correctos. Una mujer con niños llegó poco después de nosotros y se vio obligada a esperar afuera. Finalmente, nos dijeron que nuestra mesa estaba siendo desinfectada, y finalmente nos llevaron a un reservado. Cuando llegamos me horroricé al ver los asientos cubiertos de trozos de comida. Pedí algo para limpiarlo y me encontré con una respuesta muy descarada y nos acompañaron muy estridentemente a otra mesa. El piso del inodoro estaba completamente mojado (y no por la limpieza), y no había toallas de papel, solo un secador de pelo patético al que renuncié y usé mis pantalones. Apenas higiénico. La comida estaba lejos de ser excelente, pero bastante cara. Está claro que el restaurante ha hecho un esfuerzo decente por limpiar y mantener a los clientes separados, pero tienen mucho que aprender. Al igual que el personal cuando se trata de hacer que los clientes se sientan bienvenidos. Nunca he comido en Prezzo antes y nunca volveré a comer.

From the very start, the service here was impeccable - friendly, efficient and well-trained. Shame the food was so dire. We both started with fried calamari, which was OK but a bit soggy and very salty. My wife had the vegetarian bolognese, which was edible but not a patch on the lentil version we cook at home or the one that is served in another Italian restaurant chain. My Mushroom, Olive and Rocket pizza looked like a clown's shoe when it arrived and had a taste to match. The dough was wafer thin and dry as a bone, as was the rest of the pizza. There was a thin layer of dry tomato paste, topped with an almost invisible layer of mozzarella, a few thin slices of mushroom (probably less than one mushroom) and six olives. The only good part was a reasonable sprinkling of rocket. It was definitely one of the worst pizzas I've had in a restaurant for a long time, and at over £13 for the large (?) size was a total travesty. Luckily we got £19 off the bill in the government's eat out scheme, otherwise it would have been sent back.

I have missed going to Prezzo with friends and i am sad to write this review went to Prezzo with friends on the 20/08/2020 sadly we had the meal was ok BUT we were told no cash allowed only card accept we did it this time as we had little choice but this will now stop us returning as we all feel freedom of choice yes we have Covid 19 but not taking cash is really not good at all been told and controlled is not good either there is enough control with Covid with taking yet other freedom of rights away from us so we will not be returning until Prezzo change there payment methods ...

We got greeted by this blonde waiter boy named Daniel, lovely way to start, showed us to our table and adhered to the social distance guidelines. Was in a bad mood when we came in but his charisma and charm really brightened up the mood. He did very well explaining what he recommended. Even another waitress Ayona was being welcoming and she commented on her own personal experience on the food, really set the tone. We’ve always had issue with bad waitering staff not really caring for the customer but those two really made the evening much better. Unfortunate that the food didn’t live up to the hospitality

We had a very enjoyable meal at Prezzo on a busy Saturday night where the place was full. We were seated quickly and our orders where taken quickly. The staff worked very hard and were extremely efficient. The food was excellent and was especially good value with the £30 3 course meal for two with wine offer we had. Will return!

Me and my husband arrived having not booked (Thursday night). We were seated and told that food would take 30 minutes. Not a problem we weren’t in a rush and wanted to have a drink and nibbles and enjoy our meal. Service was good and we didn’t really notice any delay in food coming out. We shared the hummus, I had a salad and my husband the Gorgonzola pasta which were both very tasty. At the end of the meal I mentioned that we needed to leave to get to the cinema and the bill was brought over straight away, we paid up and left. All in all a very nice meal. We will be back!

Visited with my husband tonight before cinema plans. We arrived well over an hour before .. ordered starters and mains. Stuffed mushrooms were very bland. Edible due to the sauce that arrives with it. Had to ask for the bill alongside the mains due to our film starting 10 mins before asking. My main (pizza ) was lovely but had one slice and had to have it boxed to take away as we waited to long. The gentleman who served us was very pleasant however as wl as the lady who greeted us. If they could get the meals out quicker I'm sure all would be better. I noticed the couple next to us ask how long their food was going to be too. Didn't ruin our evening but had to rush due to slow service.

Went as a party of just 3 on a Friday evening on the 10th January for my daughters 19th birthday but the evening was a big disappointment. Served mainly by a gentleman which appeared to be the manager and was shocked at how miserable he was and the other staff on duty. Throughout the whole evening he managed a break a very short and brief smile once and we never saw any of the other staff smiling. I gave the manager a big smile when walking pass him to the toilets and he just looked through me. The food wasn't particularly brilliant and they had run out of certain items on the menu. We were asked if we wanted out bill and when we said no we would like to look at the desert menu and order something we got got a look as though we were asking for the earth. A girl had spent the entire time while we were there cleaning down the coffee machine behind the bar so daren't ask for after dinner coffee. All in all we were made to feel unwelcome. How disappointed we were!!

We went in a group of 10 with my colleagues and the food was awful as it was cold. It was not served to all together. Service was slow like hell.Three of us has dessert sticky toffee pudding which was microwaved and ice cream was the worst I have ever had. The price was £6.20.

Ready to relax after shopping, my friend and I visited Prezzo where we enjoyed a lovely lunch in a calm, relaxing environment. Large Pizza and salad to share did the trick and it was very tasty and enjoyable. The service was efficient and professional and we would certainly return again.

We went for a family Christmas Eve treat. It didn't start well. We were a party of 9, when our waiter had taken the order, we asked him a question about one of the items he accidentally deleted the order, so we had to start over again! We did have an looooong wait, luckily the children were occupied with the colouring, we noticed other parties leaving the restaurant not having eaten. We were eventually served some of our starters, but all with burnt pitta bread and my daughter's pitta had garlic butter on it which she had not ordered and could not eat as she is vegan. When brought this fact to the attention of another waiter we were served more burnt pitta bread, then told the restaurant was closing as the chef had walked out, the young staff were very apologetic but perhaps this was for the Manager to sort out but sadly the only time we saw the Manager was upset outside the restaurant which was concerning, but perhaps we would have felt the same in the circumstances.It was such a shame as previously we have had positive experiences of this branch, but will not be returning.

Booked a table for 4 people at 6.30 but it was over an hour later by the time we had been served. The kitchen just didn’t seem to be able to get the meals out fast enough and the manager was turning people away at the door due to the poor service time. I actually complained and was given a free round of drinks but I would sooner have been served faster. As a result we didn’t bother risking a sweet course. I am not sure if all branches are the same but I certainly can’t recommend the YORK Vangarde branch.

We had a booking for Christmas Eve. The waiter was very slow in taking our order then when we asked to clarify something he deleted the whole order and had to start again. We waited an unacceptable amount of time before one starter arrived (we were a party of 9)- hummus with burnt flatbread. The next 2 hummus arrived with much less bread but also burnt. My niece had garlic bread instead of flatbread and it was also burnt. She is vegan. Then we noticed people walking out before ordering as they’d not been seen to. Then the staff started going to the tables to tell diners that the chef had walked out and they were closing the restaurant. The manager failed to tell us this instead getting his young staff to do so. It should have been his responsibility. They apologised but it was a dismal experience. We’ve been to Prezzo for a few Christmas eves but this will be the last. It was clearly understaffed but the poor staff were probably paid peanuts to work on Christmas Eve hence the very poor service. Head office needs to sort this out.

First every visit to Prezzo. The restaurant was freezing!! So cold the food almost instantly turned cold. Spoke to the waitress about it who said there was a problem which is why it was so cold. She said she'd get the manager out to explain - he never came out. Another customer came up to us commenting on how cold it was, she said she spoke to the manager who denied there was a problem and that he was a bit rude, so maybe it was a good job he didn't come over to speak to us. Not really a very good experience and won't be recommending Prezzo to anyone.

We recently took our grandchildren here for lunch - the table had been booked. Drinks arrived quite quickly but after 25 mins had to go and search for a waiter to take our order. Eventually it arrived and after a very long wait our main course appeared. Even the man at the next table commented on the fact they had arrived after us but been served before us.The children were so fed up - after I hr 45 mins they did not want to stay for their dessert. Thank goodness they are well behaved. I have taken them here before and service was also bad and my daughter has had a similar experience at this place. Needless to say will not be going back which is a shame as enjoy the food. What should have been a pleasurable experience was spoilt

Did some shopping in Vangarde centre in early evening easy to park and shops not overcrowed. Met up in Prezzo with friend visiting York. We have a nice table and service was prompt and consiterate when we asked for more timexpensive. Food and wine looked good and was hot and tasty. Sweets nice as was winestablished and cofees. Waiter had time for a bit of banter which we enjoyed. All good nothing to complain about

We arrived 10 minutes after opening time, only to be greeted & informed that they wouldn't be opening for another 20 minutes due to the kitchen not being ready. We went for a look around a couple of shops & returned 30 minutes later, only to be told that there was a 15-20 minute wait for food!

Wow, did we eat in a different restaurant to the recent reviewees? We had pre-booked and the restaurant was extremely busy. The 3 servers worked so hard throughout. Our order was taken promptly and all food was delicious and served without delay. We have eaten in many Prezzo's and this one is rated right up at the top. Perfect starters, pizza, desserts and drinks all served with a smile. Recommended and we will definitely choose this Prezzo when visiting again!

Fuimos a almorzar ayer. Cuando llegamos, solo había otras 3 mesas con invitados. Después de estar sentado, pasaron casi 20 minutos antes de que alguien viniera a tomar nuestro pedido. Pedimos nuestras bebidas y una jarra de agua, para lo cual llegaron los vasos adicionales pero la jarra no vino. Los entrantes tomaron un tiempo y estuvieron bien, pero luego nos dejaron esperar casi 45 minutos para nuestro próximo curso. En ningún momento ningún personal vino a contarnos lo que estaba sucediendo, todo el lugar parecía estar en caos. Lo que debería haber sido un almuerzo rápido se convirtió en un maratón de 2 horas en un ambiente bastante desagradable donde otras mesas llegaron y se fueron sin ser servidas y otras personas llegaron a un restaurante medio vacío solo para que les dijeran que el lugar estaba completamente reservado y rechazado. El personal de la cocina estaba enojado y el personal de la mesa generalmente no sabía qué hacer. Hubiera esperado algún tipo de disculpa cuando nos fuimos, pero no había nada ofrecido y, aunque generalmente no me importa pagar 70 por el almuerzo, esta vez me molestó mucho. Como nota al margen, el restaurante de Monks Cross también está bastante sucio. Los pisos no están bien barridos, muchos de los accesorios y superficies decorativas tienen polvo y, aunque fuimos los primeros en nuestra mesa el sábado, tenía migajas y suciedad. Realmente decepcionado en general porque solemos comer en Prezzo en Hull street Stephen's, que es mucho mejor.

Realmente no puedo calificar este restaurante, pero tuve que poner 1 estrella ya que no está permitido poner ninguno. Una amiga hizo una reserva para 8 personas aproximadamente 2 semanas antes de nuestra visita propuesta anoche, recibió una llamada a la hora del almuerzo ayer para decir que se habían quedado sin pasta y que solo podían ofrecer pizza o ensalada. Increíble, qué restaurante italiano se queda sin pasta. ! ! !

Being a visitor to York, we were unsure where to dine. As we were staying to the north, we came across the Monks Cross retail park and decided to visit Prezzo. The restaurant is very airy and well appointed and the set menus offer a good choice.

On her 17th birthday, my daughter wished her family meal in Prezzo, York. The restaurant was bisy for a Monday evening, but the food was terrible. To top it off, my main meal was teppid at best with a cold topping. Sent it back. Wont be coming back.

Situated just outside York and close the Monks Cross shopping area the Prezzo is on the Vangarde shopping area. Plenty of free parking with stores like M&S;, John Lewis and Next across from the Prezzo restaurant as well as Nando’s,Giraffe and other well known food outlets plus popular coffee chains. This restaurant is very smart,nicely placed tables,with smart table presentation. Extensive menu and the food I’ve eaten here has always been good with staff that can advise on the various dishes, my last visit was with a party of 6 and the service was slow due to a member of staff not turning in. The room is completely open and can be noisy. Great Italian food though.

Me and a few friends from work decided to go for food after we finished. Food was nice, however the duty manager was not polite at all. He didn’t know what he was doing, very rushed and spoke to other guests and staff members rudely. I won’t be back just because of him, made you feel uncomfortable. I feel sorry for the poor girls that work there and have to take orders from him. We asked for the bill but he forgot, so was waiting a while and when he took payment there was no conversation, he was constantly looking around at others and watching what everyone else was doing in the restaurant. Have often ate here without a problem, however what happened tonight was appalling. The lady in the bar knocked several glasses on the floor causing them to smash. Thankfully I had my 4 month child in my arms. Not once did any of the staff check to see if we were ok despite glass going into my shoes. Unfortunately this then happened again!! Glass even went into our pram. Then had to wait over 45 mins for or main course (pizza and pasta). Cant believe they didn't even try and take anything off the bill. Wont be coming back.

The service was really slow. We waited 20 mins just to get menus and then we had to ask for them. Food was really bland and my friend that doesn’t eat meet was given chicken on her salad. She sent it back and when she started eating the returned item found a small piece of chicken so they had just picked it off. Not good at all!!

Our visit was a Monday, early evening so not hugely busy however, the service was really quite slow. The waiter was nice but one of those situations where a drinks order was taken but 10 minutes later, we had to ask where the drinks were. Similar situation in respect of our food order, very long wait for the starter then again, long wait for the main course thereafter. Food was at best average and really, nothing that you could not make yourself at home, it was not of a standard that you would associate with being 'chef' prepared. Also, the internal of the restaurant was far too cold, the air conditioning was on to a ridiculous level so on a lovely day outside, they had it uncomfortably cold on the inside. The manager suggested he could not turn off the air conditioning which seems a nonsense as clearly, all systems whether heating or cooling can be turned on or off. The temperature may have been OK for the employees who are moving around, but it was not OK to sit and eat in and we noted a few people putting cardigans on etc. Overall, disappointed.

Booked for lunch here and were met by a waiter at the door. He was wearing a face mask but when he spoke we couldn’t understand anything he said other than the word “pizza”!! He then started to lead us to a table but we asked him to repeat what he had said. This time we understood “no pizza”. We had to confirm a further two or three times that he meant there was no pizza available, which eventually he did. He spoke so fast and with such a strong accent that it was impossible to tell what he said. He obviously assumed that we didn’t like pizza as he was intent on showing us to our table - wrong! An Italian restaurant that doesn’t have pizza - never heard of this before - useless. Oh, and thanks for sending me and our 4 year in the total wrong direction for your toilet!! Spite or incompetence?! We walked to Bella Italia and understood everything the waitress said and had a great meal including pizza!!!

Fabulous very family friendly, went with extended family for lunch including 2 grandsons and the staff couldn’t have been better , friendly efficient smiling and such good service. Festive menu was really good value . We will be back

This evening, the service was shocking. It took a little longer then usual to order, but clearly were understaffed so can understand the circumstances. However, the manager on shift, Mike, was rude and a poor example of a manger. Mike ignored our table several times, leaving us feeling neglected. When asked to apply a discount onto our bill, as only mangers can apply the code, we finally received our bill after asking 4 times taking 40 minutes. It should not take that long to pay. This is unacceptable and I would recommend going elsewhere if you’re after an efficient service.
