A member of staff told me to write a review so management would see it Our experience tonight was awful the pizza had no toppings and very bland at £18 each you would have thought they could put a bit of cheese on and give it some flavour a cheap frozen pizza would have been better I won’t be going again Couldn’t fault the staff and felt very sorry for them having to serve such poor quality food

Pizza was so bland. No taste no topping, for 16 pounds for a pizza it’s crazy, and poor service, had a fungi di bosco pizza and it was so tasteless, same with the bbq chicken pizza my partner had it had I’d say 6 little bits of chicken and no sauce on it was so disappointing, the garlic bread with cheese started was genuinely a ball of dough with cheese on for 6 pounds something, overall I’d rather go to zizzi for Italian for definite, atleast you get what you pay for, and as for York. Anywhere but here

Very attentive but not over the top

Lovely place for lunch. Great food, atmosphere and service. Special mention for Aaron who looked after us, with a smile and humour. Tip: they take Blue light discount on food and have offers on the app.

Wow, what a lovely visit. We always go to Pizza express when we go to McArthur glen. We have got to say this is our favourite visit. The guy who came up originally to take our drinks order made eye contact with our 3 year old grandson, who is very shy, and was so lovely with him and made him laugh. I believe he either went on break or finished his shift and a lady was then serving us. She was also amazing, she took our grandson to watch the pizza and the pasta being made, he loved it. Every member of staff that served us on this shift was wonderful. I don’t know if you have a new management team but, honestly this was our best visit ever

My husband & I decided to grab a bite to eat after a morning at this shopping centre and although not normally fond of a chain, decided who could go wrong with a pizza! Sadly I can't remember the last time I had such a dreadful meal. The promise of the menu for authentic ingredients is clearly a long way from Italy! Had we closed our eyes we wouldn't have known what we were eating. It was tasteless. The one star is for the staff who were pleasant.

Went for dinner with some friends this evening, as a catchup with old colleagues. Really disappointed in the standards. After paying £3.45 for a coke, we were given a can with a glass. Not even any ice. How can anywhere warrant charging this much for a can of coke, not even to have it been poured into the glass? It’s shocking frankly. I understand the need to profit, but this was so poor. In addition, the pizza served to us was cold, and due to the freezing air conditioning in the place it only got even colder faster. Overall the price we paid did not reflect the food whatsoever. Wouldn’t come again sadly.

Have visited this Pizza Express fairly regularly for lunch when on shopping trips. However, this time we were not impressed with the food. The classic vegetarian pizza we received (including normal cheese rather than the vegan option) seemed smaller than before and had a very meagre topping compared with past experience. My drinking glass was not the cleanest. Fortunately, our dolcetti mini dessert and coffee were excellent. However, we shall not be returning unless there is a big improvement.

Food is good very very overpriced.

Visited recently (weekend) and the place was quite busy. We were seated quickly though. They also had a promotion running during the summer holidays and kids eat free when you order an adult's main course. The food was decent. The staff were quite busy and we had to wait for a long time just to ask for some cutlery or salt too!

Sorry but a big no from me. Our autistic son does not like Pizza so we purchased a Happy Meal from McDonalds next door. He was sat quietly eating it, not causing a fuss and we were waiting to order our food when this waitress came along and said he couldn't eat it in the restaurant because of 'allergens' and said he can finish it outside then come back in (bearing in mind he is only 7 years old). This lady didn't try to ask any questions or to consider there might be any kind of special needs and was quite rude in fairness. There was no way we were taking our son out of the restaurant with a walk of shame so we decided to take our business elsewhere. I do think the staff require better training on how they speak to customers going by this waitresses attitude.

This is the best eatery in the area. Staff are welcoming and polite. Bruschetta was delicious freshly made and with fresh basil which makes all the difference! Salad Nicoise is the absolute best! Not as in other restaurants a huge plate of lettuce with topping but Pizza Express present a correctly balanced dish. Very fresh ingredients, tricolour tomatoes, plenty of tuna, boiled egg new potatoes and olives capers etc. it’s why we return.

Great pizza and fast service on takeaway. The manager, Mel, brought the pizza straight out to us, very efficient.

Went to designer outlet for some food. Service was amazing. Mel the manager (I think was her name) couldn't do enough for us. Nothing was to much trouble, she went out of her way for us to have a lovely meal. She spoke to her employees with respect and politeness and she clearly got along with everyone on the shift, making our meal more enjoyable. Lovely atmosphere and will be back.

Visited a place my partner uses often with her workmates from a McDonalds. TOP CLASS meal good friendly up front crew meet and greet lady at entrance to ordering delivery to table to paying. Special thanks on behalf to named crew member Arran. No name badges these times appreciated .

Waited 15 mins to get served. 3 staff in the back with one poor girl running around. Shocking management. Walked out after being ignored. This applies to York Designer outlet branch.

Very tasty freshly prepared food

Welcomed and Seated quickly. Order taken and despite being very busy the food came in a timely fashion.

The flavour is fine, however the portions are very small compared to the price, the pizza was large however it was paper thin. The restaurant is quite ugly and the service is average.

Plater were cold food was cold customer service non existent, weren’t asked how food was and when I suggested the chiefs made sure plates and food were hot no interest was given

Great lunchtime venue in a busy shopping outlet. Food drinks and service was very good. Great seats in an open plan area.

Was very impressed with the friendly team and the ease they found us a table. We were a group of 9 people and two were in wheelchairs. My elderly parents were pleased that they were catered for without any fuss. Thank you.

Pasta and tomato sauce left under table from previous customer. Pizza burnt along some edges and in the middle where there was little topping to protect it. Left a third of pizza because of this. Service was fast and some of the topping was good. However, unsure I would return.

Enjoyed a very nice girlie lunch with my friend here while out shopping at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, York. Found on the top level of the shopping mall. We needed to wait to be seated as had not made a booking yet it was worth it. Our waiter was lovely, a young lad keen and attentive. Pizza was great and we both enjoyed the elderflower lemonade. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would certainly eat here again and highly recommend.

We called in for lunch whilst on a shopping trip with a tesco voucher. The ambience was very good and just after we arrived it got very busy. No problem. The food on arrival was very good we had garlic doughballs. A margarita pizza and the lasagne. There was a shortage of pizza cutters as we had to ask for one. Everything was very nice . However, the Italian waiter didn't seem too keen on accepting our voucher, and after a short while, it was taken. Overall a very nice experience.

Absolutely outstanding service and food. Had the nduja and pesto dough balls to start and the Cubana pizza and Chicken Caesar for main, faultless, perfect pizza base, sauce and plenty of toppings. The Caeser had plenty of chicken and croutons. Staff, front of house and kitchen are superb. Clean, attentive and friendly.

called here today for lunch we were seated quickly and the server came to take our order i had the ceaser salad and my wife had the gluten free margarita which looked under cooked and very small my ceaser salad was mostly lettuce which was very dry and the chicken was very touch all in all not avery good experience my wife drpper her fork and the napkin went with it the server brought a repacements and the napkin was already dirty will not return there again 1 out off 10 for the diet coke

What a lovely place to be on a Friday afternoon! Duo romana pizza and dough balls are the star of the menu!! The staff were absolutely fantastic and special mention to our waiter Priyam. He went an extra mile to make our dine in experience a fantastic one. Would highly recommend this place.

We have a lunch here today. It was a terrible experience. The food are good but we've wait the waiters to take order for 10 mins. And the food arrived 30 mins later. Also waited for the bill for 10 more mins. Seem no one are coming to serve us. Service are very poor. They didn't ask us how's the food or how's everything going but other every table did. Not recommend at all

Ordered a stuffed crust meal, got the pepperoni one, and it only took 30seconds to make as he handed it to me straight away, what a joke, forgot my chips aswell, it’s 9pm and I feel horribly Ill from the pizza, abdominal pains are immense and feel nauseous don’t recommend

Had lovely Pizza's here, and drinks, staff are very cheery, helpful and informative. I had a GF Fiorentina pizza and my friend had a La Reine, well worth the price, will definitely come again.

Just had another great tasting meal here after an afternoons shopping , we were very well looked after as my wife has a dairy intolerance … they really catered for her needs in a 1st class manor… unlike a lot of other places we go …. We both have really enjoyed our meal here especially the polenta chips !! Which were done to perfection , we can’t wait till next time we visit

Had the pizza deal which consisted of a 6”pizza and fries with unlimited drink , service was very quick and the pizza very tasty, will definitely have again when visiting York

Visited here after shopping expedition at the outlets. Server was so friendly and helpful. They are currently offering deals on the app, but it wasn't too clear how to use it but she was very patient and explained everything. Had dough balls to start with followed by a polo ad astra leggera and calabrese with sides of polenta chips and broccolini. Both was very tasty and hot, Didn't have a dessert. Service was quick and efficient.

Didn’t have to wait long for a table for two . Staff ( a young lady from Romania ) were so lovely and friendly . Nothing was too much trouble . I have a pine nut allergy and every was checked to make sure I didn’t get any pesto sauce , thank you ! The pizza I ordered was amazing and filled with a center of fresh salad . My daughter ordered the pasta and she enjoyed every mouth full . The restaurant was extremely busy , but food was first class

Overpriced pizza and pasta. Pizza had no taste. 4 pound pizza hut in the food court outlet had a better taste then their 12 pounds pizza. No dips with pizza. Avoid.

Decided to visit designer outlet to see what the shopping experience would be like and to spend vouchers and went upstairs to the food Hall, it was very quiet but decided to try it, the area was cold and the air con was on, the menu was basic and not much on offer. We appreciate these are difficult,times but we would t return, the service was ok, the wine was expensive the food was too for what we got. Wouldn't visit again in a hurry.

Quick spot for lunch on a shopping trip & what more could you want, friendly service in a busy restaurant with delicious pizza. Clubcard vouchers are key with the prices a little steep but still very enjoyable.

We turned up for a spot of lunch with our vegan daughter mainly because we'd downloaded a 25% off your meal voucher. We ordered olives as a starter and a round of drinks. Fast forward 45 minutes and we are sat twiddling our thumbs waiting for our food. At this point I asked to speak to the manager and he arrived coincidentally at the same time as the food. He apologised as it was rather busy and that he would look after us when the bill came. When I asked the waiter for the bill it arrived with a 25% reduction!! The manager was hovering near the waiter so we asked him what he was doing to help our bill like he said he would as we had a 25% discount code,so he was in effect giving us nothing! The manager's exceptional people skills then came to the fore as he accused us of giving him an insulting look even though he had done all he could.still not getting the blindingly obvious fact that he was giving us nothing,zero,zilch,squat for our 50 min wait for our main course. We paid and left because arguing with someone so mentally under equipped to deal with a basic situation was taking it's toll on me and I had thick wooden table at home that would understand be better. An overall disappointing display from Pizza not so express at the designer outlet.1/10

Just some pathetic excuse for a manager - no ability to construct a sentence without conveying aggression and rudeness. Food was okay - slow to be seated and slow to get our order with one meal forgotten. Staff were pleasant and friendly - main issue with with the women who reckoned she was the manager. Don’t treat your customers (not that you have many as was very quiet for a Saturday) with such disrespect - considering pizza express is about to go down the pan you should do your upmost to cling onto them - won’t be so cocky once your laid up on the dole! Won’t go back to this venue - have been many times but not again. I would call customer services to make a complaint if I thought they would give a toss. What hope is there if the management isn’t even trained - never mind the staff.

I had a great meal with my Dad here. We shared 2 vegan pizzas and they were faultless! Great service as well from friendly staff.

This review was surprising and completely down to the Manager on the day and his staff. The food provided was wrong by the Pizza Express Staff. They had provided me a classic pizza whist I had asked for Romano. Initially I mentioned this and after some slight resistance they replaced it with the right pizza. Then my wife noticed her pizza had no cheese on it. We had changed the cheese from the supplied vegan to the full fat so we rawer very sure we ha ordered it, The waitress took the pizza back and amazingly added some cold, dry parmesan cheese and expected my wife to eat this. Of course we complained and she eventually relented but was obviously annoyed. Now can I ask - who in their right mind would accept a Pizza without cheese and accept cold wrong cheese instead? I remain amazed at this and the staff person in question. The manager, a charming person, offered his apologies, explaining that the staff member in question was new. The kicker was that there was no attempt to fix the situation beyond this. He could have offered some free drinks or dessert or a token gesture. I would have made me feel much better We had lost a lot of time at Pizza Express, the experience had been compromised and his own staff had been trained incorrectly. I paid full price as-well (which is beside the point). To top it off the dessert I wanted was not available. In terms of food, they still did not follow my request but I was beyond caring. We just left and will not be back. Bad situation but could have been reprieved if the manager should had done something more. Shame - I normally really enjoy Pizza Express.

Visited today pizza express terrible experience pizza took 40 mins before served to us then ordered 2 desserts and a latta . Latta never turned up didn't see the same staff twice when Bill came had been charged for the latta which I never got and also charged for 3 desserts baring in mind there was only 2 of us and only ordered 2 desserts but got charged for 3 so please everyone check yours bills not happy never going again staff not pleasant either

Poor value for money and not great service

Standard Pizza Express, cheerful service, decent food and with vouchers from the Nectar Rewards it didn't cost me anything so no complaints.

Accommodated us easily despite our last minute joining of parents in law. Added our pizzas to the order and we didn't have to wait much longer than those who were there first. Excellent pizza (had the new special- spicy and tasty) and service, impressive. I liked the location and the world going past.

Was so much better than expected, this is great if your on a tnite budget we sat outside in the sun. Good selection of beers and great pizzas thanks guys.will return 100%
