We went twice to the tea rooms. The first was just for a cup of coffee. We sat at a table and they gave a few minutes before they came for the order, The drinks were served very quicky. The staff were very pleasant and were smiling, even though it was late in the day. The second visit was just after they opened, and we went in for breakfast. Again, we sat at a table and they came for the order a few minutes later. The drinks arrived quickly and the breakfast arrived shortly after. Nicely presented and not sitting in grease. The staff again were pleasant and even at that time in the morning had a smile. Their cakes looked very tempting but we resisted.

Stopped here for a late lunch. It was a hot day so we wanted to eat outside but the outdoor seating area was full of dog owners and their pets. We therefore opted for take away fish and chips. Big mistake. I was eventually given 2 paper parcels with no condiments or disposable cutlery. I was told to cross the dogs to find some, but only salt was available - and no further help was forthcoming. This was disastrous as the fish was old and dry and the chips were positively scratty. Lots of vinegar might have made the food almost edible. I'm the event, they were the worst fish and chips that I have ever tried to eat.

Very nice food and staff. Long wait to order at the till because there is a bottleneck as the lady has to stop to make coffee etc. I think this issue needs to be looked at as I queued for 20 minutes to order and I was 6th in the queue ... but it did prove to be worth the wait.

Potter Tea Room Potter Heigham Terribly Disappointed 821789679 After reading reviews we decided to stop over and try this place out. The “Cleanliness” table and hygiene made us feel comfortable but that was short-lived when we had to ask for our table surface to ge cleaned of old food. What was served as “coffee black” was a total joke and probably the worst cup of black coffee I have ever had anywhere. Dishwater would be more like it. Food arrived - my wife had to send hers back as the plate it was served on was obviously never washed but had been wiped. Lean and old good grime was still visible on the plate rim. My Chilli-Con-Carne arrived with human hair included - DISGUSTING so far. In last hope we ordered the “Full-Milk hot chocolate with additional cream and marshmallows- what a joke - Cadbury’s Hot Chocolate- 70% water, 4 minute marshmallows (extra 60p). Overall value for money was shocking. Cleanliness and hygiene absolutely pathetic. However throughout the ordeal the staff were very friendly and apologetic. Give it a miss!

What a lovely little cafe. Wonderful staff and the food was amazing too. The cakes are homemade and some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Going as a family of 4 with a 2 year old and 3 month old is never easy but they made us feel welcomed and very well looked after. My wife even got an offer of reheating her food as they noticed she’s been stuck breastfeeding for a little while, that’s never happened before. Gestures like that go a long way and meant a lot to us. They were packed throughout the time we were there but they were absolutely brilliant with us all and seemed to be enjoying their work too. So happy and friendly. The roast was lovely and so filling. And I would highly recommend the double decker toastie! Never seen one before (and we do enjoy a meal out) but it was a revelation. I’m sure in the summer months this place is packed all day everyday, but we will definitely try to be back soon.

A young man took our order, got my 86 year old mother a brolly( it was a red hot day, and the outside section is when trap) and was mega helpful. The food was delicious and my steak and ale pie was the best I have had in a long time. Service once again was friendly and helpful. Will definitely eat there again next time we visit.

Eaten here before, quite nice. Visited last weekend as my Wife really wanted a cream tea as advertised on the outside. This local place was our choice, as both this, and the chain next door offered cream teas. Told need 24hrs notice for a cream tea???? WTF???? This is passing trade? And what takes the P is what actually takes 24 hours? The Tea? no. The Scones? No, The cake? No, The sausage roll? No. had all of these on the counter...so has to be making a sandwich... your kidding right? You sell rolls and sandwiches... So you want 24 hours notice for sandwiches to be made in the morning and go stale on the side instead of making them fresh. Really quite disappointed. my wife just had the scone and tea.

Me and my family visited for the first time yesterday and from the moment we stepped in the door they could not have been more welcoming, friendly or accommodating. The lovely lady with blonde hair was ever so friendly and could not have done more for us. She even asked those working in the kitchen to keep an eye out for a table for us, which we just did not expect. They definitely went above and beyond for us from the moment we arrived. We ordered some food and 35 minutes had passed and we had not received it (although they were extremely busy!) so we asked another very friendly waiter how long it would be and within minutes we received it. The waiter then offered us complimentary drinks as a goodwill gesture for our long weight. The customer service was absolutely exemplary and had it been bad we may not have returned with the long weight for food but the service alone speaks for itself. Customer service is key and this place has definitely got it right. As we left we bought some cakes to take away and the man who served us (in a blue shirt) was also very friendly. The food and cakes were amazing and great value for money and we can’t wait to come back. I wish this place great success.

We were were greeted by - "too late for hot food, tea and cake only" by the person serving who then just turned round and carried on talking to one of her colleagues, at this stage we hadn't even asked for anything or been greated. The cakes looked lovely and we would have purchased a few to take home had the lady have stayed with us to take our order. We and another family behind us left without purchasing anything after being made to feel really quite an irritant rather than welcome. A visit to the broads would not be complete without a meal in this very popular, and extremely clean restaurant. It was the Friday before August bank holiday, a perfect time to enjoy the attraction before the bank holiday rush. We were so wrapped up in shopping and walking around the banks of the waterways we forgot how early it was. The usual enthusiastic welcome when we walked in, we thought its Friday so lets have fish and chips. But at 10.45 the fryers had not even warmed up, the chef politely told us. So we had the all day English, it did not disappoint, from the thick cut wholemeal toast to the lightly done fried egg. We loved it, I had some money to come back so I treated my wife to an ice cream Sundae, with caramel toffee drizzle. She did not like this she adored it, still extolling its praises on the way home. I feel I now know that if all the world was drowning and she had a choice of who to save from the water I fear she would pick this ice cream Sundae before her poor husband.

Potter Tea rooms were transformed by a lady with vision, she introduced a little class into tea rooms, where her personal touch made a difference. Unfortunately she sold up to someone who had a fish and chip bar in Wroxham, this has resulted in adopting a similar business model in Potter Heigham. What was a sophisticated and sympathetically decorated tea room has become a replica seaside café and get as many in as possible.

Visited this morning. The full breakfast has no vegetarian option, they will not allow you to break it up and substitute the meat parts of it for something else, they do not do veggie sausages or anything like that - and in fact if you try to buy chips, this only comes with fish (so sign of any vegetarian pastie/burger option). Cafes in Norfolk not catering for vegetarians is nothing new, but this place really goes out of its way to make them unwelcome. Have beans on toast (at around £4.50) or go elsewhere, basically.

The new owners had only been open 6 weeks. The cafe has been completely redecorated inside and out. Very attractive on the outside. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and the food was brilliant. The owners had moved from a tea room in Wroxham. The staff all appear to be in their 40's and 50's. Made a lovely change. Highly recommended. Ian s

We came here last year and found the menu limited and the owner down right rude when a fellow customer asked for a plate of chips and was told 'if you want chips, go next door'. What a difference a year makes! The new owners are friendly, the menu has now more choice, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is good. We did not witness any 'unhappy' staff, the owners were walking round talking to everyone and the cafe/restaurant was full (this tells you something). This is nowhere near peak season and I know there were locals in there. You can still have a full meal or just a sandwich or jacket potato, only difference now is there is alot more choice and it is served with a friendly smile (what a nice change from last year). We didn't have to wait long for our food, and when it arrived, it was well presented, plenty of it and hot. Our server (owner's son) asked us what sauces and extras we required and brought them straight back (a change from many places that ask you and then forget to come back). Needless to say we ALL cleared our plates as the food was exceptional.

A lovely quirky well ran tea room, has become a cafe, and a ill ran one at that, gone has the nice wall paper, the nice China cups, the service, space round the tables, the choice of good food, home cooked food, I used To visit a lot now I find it like a greecy spoon at the lower end. The owners were in when I was there last and I have to say they ignored me and spoke to the regulars who followed them from Wroxham business. I find it rude that the owners are selective who they choose to speak to, my money is as good as any other customers and if the owners don't recognise that then come the winter god u will need it!

Where has our quiet, elegant and tranquil tea room gone? Decorated with Cath Kidston wallpaper and crockery, this was a beautiful place to visit and have cream teas or snacks or baked potatoes etc. all at reasonable prices with staff that actually welcomed us locals and knew us all by name.

Nice pleasant tea rooms offering more than teas we had full English but little extras came at a price which made it more expensive than most worth a visit though

I went here today for lunch with my husband and daughter. It was heaving as it is May Day bank holiday, but we managed to find a seat. There was a bit of a queue to place our order, but we didn't mind. The décor was fresh and very pretty and the food was fabulous. We only had sandwiches, but next time we will have to have cake, they looked fantastic. The sandwiches were very fresh and were generously filled. The staff were friendly and efficient. We are looking forward to going back again soon.

Paid almost £9 for what was described as a ploughmans. Lots of lettuce, a few shreds of onion, quarter of a tomato, a small soft baguette, not crusty as advertised, and no butter, very small amount of tasteless cheese and some pickles. At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!

A cleaner looking, fresh feeling establishment you would struggle to find anywhere. Toilets say a lot about a place in general and these are 5 star. On this particular day it was busy, very busy and i take notice of service and the service that I witnessed was excellent, lots of busy staff, clearings and cleaning tables, order going out quickly and efficiently. The sausage rolls we had were probably the best I have ever had, hot chocolate was tasty and the cakes wonderful (would give the option of cream or ice cream if it were me). All in all a great place to visit and eat and definitely not an excessively noisy place. My first visit but when I come back to this area I will visit and recommend to friends. Credit where it's due.

Discovered the tea rooms on TA and glad we went. Really friendly helpful staff and superb cakes. The room is decorated to a modern fresh style with plenty of room to move. We were able to sit 6 plus a pushchair and use their high chair with out people having to squeeze around us.

I'm shocked to even see any one pass bad comments about the tea room. I'm a regular as one person has pointed out. I have never received any different treatment or better service from the girls.

I took my 87 year old Mother here for a treat. It was very busy so I offered to clear the table, spraying and wiping it down myself. This was ok and I really did not mind doing this. Staff explained there was a half hour wait for food and I ordered a tea and coffee while we waited. I had ordered two bowls of beef and red wine stew with a roll. We waited about an hour. My Mother started to feel ill as she was so hungry. I was upset for her, especially seeing people who had come in after us getting food. It appeared if you were known you got special service. I asked for my money back. The one member of staff said she had to serve in order - this was not what they were doing. One member of staff did seem concerned and did go over and apologise to my Mother. I would not go back. A disgusting and unkind way to treat an elderly lady. They gave me the money back for the meal and I paid for the tea and coffee.

We have given this tea room a couple of visits, once during half term and also a quiet Thursday lunchtime early March. We could understand why it was so noisy during a half term but today was a very quiet day, but yet the noise in there is so loud, if all you want is a quiet lunch out, the wooden floors and ceilings mean that the chatter just bounces around.

The sun disguised the bitter cold day when we visited the tea rooms. We decided on beef stew with red wine and buttered roll. The staff immediately made us feel welcome. The tea rooms was well presented but the most important part was the food. Jackets with chilli con carni a small picky plate for the 14month old and 3 of us for the stew. Served promptly and professionally. To repeat the words of the Terminator 'We will be back' Thank you for a delighful experiance

A delightful and pleasant tea room, my wife and I took the opportunity of a drink and something to eat before picking our boat up. The only problem was what to have, the choice of cakes was superb. We ended up going for tea and scones, which was excellent. We will be visiting again in June.

I had lunch with my elderly parents today. My father enjoyed his sausage but my fish pie filling wasn’t nice and some of the fish didn’t taste fresh, the mash topping was nice but the filling was a poor attempt at what can be a lovely tasty dish. My mum had the beer battered fish and chips. The beer batter was overpowering to the fish and tasted like the oil was old. I tried some of my mums and agreed with her. It’s two years since I have eaten here and it was a disappointment.

If you want to eat awful and not healthy than best you camp in. Food is cold, staff are rude and faces like they don't wanna be there. Short woman was very rude and you could hear them shouting out the back. Some man who appeared to be friends with them messing around outside. This isn't what i like to see when eating out. HUGE let down girls. They need to be more polite and have a better manner and not shout so much!!!

Stayed overnight, dinner was good, breakfast was atrocious! Over cooked bacon, sausages, hash browns and eggs, whether, poached or fried were hard and burnt. The toast was beyond crispy, frightened to eat the crusts in case we broke our teeth. The room was nice, Myrtle, needs a long mirror on the blank wall near the plug points. Staff friendly and accommodating at dinner.
