It’s early October and I turned up at 2.30pm, so I was safe from some of the issues described in previous reviews.Being quite hungry, I bypassed the tea & scones option for the Beef & Gravy Bap with chips. It was just okay: the beef was rather tasteless, but at least it was tender, and the gravy tasted like it was made from granules rather than the real thing. The chips were alright too, a better quality cook from frozen product. The bap was nondescript, not giving the impression that it had seen a local bakery. However, at £7.50 it was fairly priced for a popular Yorkshire market town.I had the Colombian coffee served in a metal carafe, which could have used one more spoonful of ground beans, but it would be harsh to downgrade a review on that basis. The servers were loud but friendly, with no trace of the attitude issues mentioned before. I could see, however, how that might change when under pressure.Unfortunately, I noticed the large, fresh scones & cake being served to a neighbouring table all too late. They looked absolutely wonderful and most likely substantial enough to have accommodated my hunger. Of course I didn’t taste them, but if you can go by looks alone, they certainly delivered. Next time!

A very busy cafe in a very busy town. I witnessed the staff go out of their way to accommodate a large party (14!) who turned up and caused havoc. The staff were brilliant and could easily have said no to the party, but didn’t. The scones are amazing and even better with soup on a blustery day. Visited three times during our holiday.

I agree with other reviews that the staff here need to swiftly improve their customer service skills and attitude as they will be out of a job soon as erstwhile customers leave in droves and patronise other cafes in the town centre or outskirts where other more friendly eateries are to be found. A very disgruntled member of staff reluctantly showed us to a clear table, then we waited and waited for our order to be taken. Eventually I asked a server to take our order, ten minutes later she arrived to take our order in what can only be described as a miserable and surly manner as if she was doing us an immense favour by stopping at our table. Eventually another server arrived with our coffee and tea cakes, at least she was a little more approachable. As there are plenty of other places to eat in and around the town we will be patronising them and avoiding the Posthorn in future.

We happened upon Posthorn on a mizzly market day and were very happy to have found it. The menu was exactly what you would want from tearoom/cafe from light bites and teatime treats to larger lunches. Our freshly-baked cheese scones with Wensleydale cheese (what else!) and chutney was delicious and plenty enough for a light lunch. We had pots of really lovely leaf tea. Altogether yummy!

Two sides to this review, went and spoke to a lady for a table inside but she was unable to move things around to fit us in but didn't offer us seating outside which we had to find out for ourselves.Went back a 2nd time and saw a gentleman who was very helpful and whilst the food took a while to arrive it was worth waiting for, a lovely hot breakfast for all of us.

Looked like a nice little quaint place to have coffee on our way passing through Leyburne . We couldn’t believe the attitude and general demeanour of the lady that served us . She came across very rude and condescending she made it clear that they were short of staff and made us feel very unwelcome. This wasn’t just us but with everyone that she had contact with ! This wasn’t customer service it was more like customer abuse for no extra charge ! Lol We had some nice tea and the rest of the people that served were great ..

Went in for a light lunch. Was with my elderly mother who needed to sit and we were lucky to get a table. We didn't see the sign that said to wait to be seated and were then reprimanded on 2 or 3 occasions in a loud voice. Felt embarrassed. Only stayed as we had struggled to get a table in the town. Service in terms of speed was good. Size of portion was small.Would not visit again.

Called in on Sunday 29th August and as there was plenty of outside seating available went to the till to order 2 coffees to carry out myself, no waitress service needed. Was met with complete disinterest and was rudely told that someone would get to us at some point, but the lady stated, quite abruptly, that they were very busy. Maybe my meagre request for coffee was not deemed as lucrative as the gentleman in front of me who had just paid his bill of £50. They need to realise that people sitting down to drink their coffees and browse the menu, may well end up ordering food. The lady on the till needs to have a real change of attitude, or maybe front of house is the wrong place for her! Went to a place just down the street and got a lovely coffee and service with a smile.

Have enjoyed this place before I should say in being balanced but won't be returning again. Called in on a visit to the area with my two daughters and elderly parents. Informed no room for table of 5, asked if we could have the two vacant tables with an extra chair as youngest daughter is very small. Told abruptly not even though half the restaurant (ahead as you walk in side door) was not bring used at all. Similar attitude witnessed to another party. Went to another cafe just further down the same row of shops, would recommend you go there instead.

We popped in here whilst passing through Leyland and expected more based on the current Tripadvisor ratings. The menu was quite limited but we all managed to find something, which was fine. What was most disappointing was the rude rolling of the eyes by the waiter (possibly the Manager?) when I asked how large the flat white coffee was and if he could go a little easy on the milk (instead of filling it right to the brim). I don't feel that this was an unrealistic request based on how measures can differ across different establishments. The food was fine (if unexceptional), but I would not return and the rude treatment soured the whole experience.

My wife had a hot chocolate which she was very pleased with but I ordered a 'specialty' cafetiere of coffee that was described in terms such as chocolaty, dark and rich. When it came it was disappointingly thin and weak. The woman serving it said that her instructions were to use two tiny scoops of coffee per cafetiere and I wondered if the size of the scoop had been changed since these instructions were first given. She dealt with it well and gave me an extra scoop but the result still didn't quite reach the description in the menu. I would have expected something like two rounded dessert spoons of coffee for a pot of the size used, to produce the promised experience.

To the side of the large market place in Leyburn the Posthorn has an excellent location with indoor and outdoor seating areas. There e is very good attention ot Covid compliance with a proactive approach to sanitisation , cleaning and track and trace compliance. The front room of the cafe is welcoming, the outdoor area is good on a sunny day though service was a little slow so we moved inside. the rear seating area is a little dull with no views. But this is a popular cafe... Coffee was excellent and so was the choice on the menu. The snack we chose was home-made and very tasty. Service is friendly if a little inefficient. Altogether a good place to visit especially if you can get in the front room!.

The Posthorn is an attractive cafe cum tearoom in the centre of the village. At first glance the interior looks a bit small, but there are more tables round the corner. They serve breakfasts (which look very good) and hot snacks as well as the expected range of sandwiches, cakes etc. They also have an excellent range of speciality teas and a wide selection of coffees. We enjoyed very good tea and coffee and, along with our hot drinks, we had a couple of toasted tea cakes which were also very tasty.Covid precautions were well-maintained and the service was very friendly. We called into this lovely cafe on a rainy Thursday afternoon and nothing was too much trouble. We were welcomed at the door and seated at a spotlessly clean table which accommodated our family (2 adults, 2 pre-teens and a pram). The cafe was well set out with a steady stream of visitor’s, each receiving the same warm welcome as us. The menu was everything you could ask for, hearty home cooked food with a selection of cakes, hot and cold beverages and made to order meals and puddings. Service was excellent and clearly the team here have adapted well to the current COVID situation (constantly cleaning tables/ workstations, immaculately clean toilets, hand washing & well thought through layout etc.). We had a selection of tea, cold drinks, flapjack and scones and all we delicious with hearty portion sizes. The flapjack was so delicious that we even took some away with us. Prices are well priced for the quality and portion sizes. Would highly recommend!

Lovely local ingredients prepared with real care and presented nicely by curteous and caring staff. English Breakfast looks very simple but a good english breakfast is not easy. The proof of this is the many many breakfasts you can buy prepared by people who cannot or do not do it properly. The Posthorn Breakfast was an absolute delight. It had no flaws. No brown lace or overcooked yolks in the eggs. No cindered bacon or tinned tomatoes. double cooked fried potatoes (boiled then fried to ensure crisp outside and fluffy centre, full bodied tea etc etc. Just lovely.

Finding our usual coffee shop unexpectedly closed, we drove a few extra miles to Leyburn, using TA as a guide to finding a decent cup of Tea! This is a lovely little cafe, with a few outside tables, ample inside seating and a generous selection of cakes and other treats to tempt. Service was friendly, the menu varied and atmosphere welcoming. The food, however, was pretty basic - a cut scone which was served cold and was rather hard and cakes which (in both cases) were a trifle dry and tasteless. The scones were served with generous quantities of jam and cream however and both sandwiches were fresh and well filled (although the Wensleydale and Apple was a little lacking in Apple). At £11.50 for afternoon Tea, this is not an expensive place to stop in comparison with many other outlets in the area. Facilities (and the cafe itself) were spotlessly clean, food was presented well and overall we enjoyed the visit very much. Well worth a visit..

My son and I went to the Posthorn Tea Room and Café yesterday for breakfast- I ordered 2 pots of tea as you usually get tiny pots but this was not the case here. Proper large pots. The tea flavour is wonderful.Breakfast was cooked well, very fresh and well presented. A proper meat sausage, bacon, free range egg, toast, chunky tomato and saute potatoes - absolutely heavenly and a real treat.

We had a little trip out to the country and stopped at this lovely tea room. We had the afternoon tea, and it was lovely, everything was home made, everything was tasty, the scones as light as air and the cakes deliciously moist. Warm and welcoming from start to finish

Stopped here today with three friends, initially for morning tea and a scone which were amazing. Three of us had the fruit scones with Jam and Cream and they were lovely and fresh and quite delicious. Our fourth had the toasted cheese scone with chutney and Wensleydale cheese which was deemed outstanding.

Thank you for accommodating us. The owner and in fact all staff were very friendly after we strolled in with our little monster who was determined to cause havoc. Food was good. I had the steak and ale pie. I was expecting it to be incased in shortcrust pastry however it came with a shortcrust lid. There was plenty of chunky meat in the pie so I was a happy bunny. Thank you again

Nothing worse than finishing drinks before food arrives. Waited over half an hour for a bacon sandwich which still didn't arrive. Asked for refund from I assume owner/manager. Felt he preferred me to accept the sandwich with is 'cooked to order' explanation rather than see I was disappointed, apologise and refund. If food is cooked to order or the cafe is busy and there could be a wait, 'just say so' simples.

Popped into this lovely tea room on a wet day. Sadly, there was only one piece of chocolate cake left! Great pot of tea and shared said chocolate cake. Friendly service.

Efficient service, excellent portion sizes and reasonably priced. The menu offers excellent Vegetarian choices and the outside seating area is a bonus in the sunshine. We look forward to returning.

This is a lovely tearoom with great staff and tasty food. I had mince and Yorkshire pudding and fruitcake with cheese - this is what the word homemade was invented for! Can't recommend it enough.
