This cafe is a comfortable spot for working, thanks to its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. However, I wouldn't recommend the coffee and croissant. ⚘️ Coffee and croissant cost = 6.60

If you want a great coffee and wonderful front of house staff this is the place ,what sadly let it down this time was the so called bbq. We went there a few weeks back and couldn't fault it great food and atmosphere, then the then chef left and the new head chef just doesn't care. We went on the 09/08/2024 @ 18.00. considering the food starts around 17.00, we ordered what last time was a brilliant chicken shwarma, this time rubbish considering it was supposed to be cooked fresh ours was cold, I would say a Pret would have been better and cheaper. As we left looking at the coals there was hardly any red showing. Also on the next day looking at the full English, which was excellent one time. I will say go in for great coffee and staff but go next door for food. Sorry to be so negative.

Average breakfast but to have the cheek to charge £14 for what they call a “big breakfast” and serve half a slice of black pudding is crazy and never have I ever seen this before. I did think maybe they had ran out however when I asked why they’ve consciously chosen to half a thin slice of black pudding I was told that’s the way it is served. I wouldn’t rush back.

Went as a group for a 30th birthday brunch. We chose this place as it had numerous gluten free options on the menu (have attached photo below). However on ordering the waiter went away and got the manager. She came and told us she could give the rest of us our food but the company outright refuses to serve coeliacs. As if our friend could just sit there and watch the rest of us eat. We offered to sign a waiver etc but we were told the chef is absolutely refusing to serve her. Appears the gluten free options on the menu are just to appear trendy and not to meet dietary requirements. We asked why this wasn’t advertised but we got no answer.

Worst Caesar salad I’ve ever ordered. You couldn’t taste the dressing at all. The chicken was slightly burnt and it took 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen. The service wasn’t great we were seated upstairs and they would take forever to get your orders and they never even checked with us if the food was okay. My friends had the chicken muffin which actually tasted amazing. But the salad was so bad really do not understand how they could serve in was so tasteless.

Absolutely delicious lunch and coffee, I would definitely come back here again when I'm next in town! I was visiting for a conference and a number of the conference delegates went to this cafe for lunch. We all basically turned up at once, and as a result there was a bit of a lunch rush. The staff handled it very well however, and were very apologetic about any wait on the food (which was, it must be said, very worth waiting for). I can see that others have left a negative review, but I feel that they have completely mischaracterised the situation. When a large number of people who haven't booked a table turn up at once, you shouldn't be surprised if you have to wait a bit. The staff were very polite and did what they could.

Horrific experience. Waiting an hour and a half for 4 basic brunch dishes to arrive with no explanation or remorse from hospitality staff. Avoid at all costs! Additionally, very cheeky to charge £11-£15 per brunch dish without the basic service requirement.

I really like it here. A quirky little cafe bar in a hidden corner of Brighton. The food is delicious, I had a small juicy steak while my friend went for a Caesar salad that was really well done. It's cosy with a great range of wines, beers & cocktails. Also coffee & cake.. Staff are lovely, pop in anytime of day.

not a great reception as we walked in, 4 people behind the bar, two of which avoided eye contact and two were arguing over a ticket. eventually one of them pointed at the menus and told us to seat ourselves. sat in the garden which seemed like an afterthought, no music or atmosphere and seemed like its main purpose was a smoking area/hangout space for kitchen staff. ordered food and drinks, drinks (iced coffee and pint) came quickly and were very nice, food took longer but not unreasonably long. however, the burger arrived and was just a burger on a plate no salad or chips or anything, my fried chicken benedict looked much nicer on the plate but every element was overcooked, including hard poached eggs which i've never seen at a professional food establishment. my partner ordered chips upon realising the burger didn't come with them, these cost £4 and were supposed to come with aioli, they came long after we'd finished our food and the waitress just plonked them on the table without a word, spilling some of the chips. she also didnt take our empty plates or glasses. the chips themselves were piping hot and well seasoned to their credit but did not come with aioli. a while later some more chips arrived in some sort of error and these did have aioli with then but we turned them away as we'd already had ours. the waitress dropped more chips on the floor as she walked away. the real kicker came when i went to the toilet and saw the friday special which was a burger, chips and a pint for £15. my partner had ordered all of these items separately but had not been informed of the special. we will not be returning.

Early in the morning so atmosphere not yet up 😀 I had scrambled egg on warm bread,not toast, and plate cold, and had to ask before had did it come with chilli flakes as so many other places in Brighton put them on everything, they said they did too but would leave them off! My husband had a full English and was very surprised and disappointed that they were served with some sort of curried baked beans!

I'd heard great things about this place. I hoped it was great because the previous incarnation of cafe at this location, Marwood, was legendary. The decor was nice. Atmospheric and stylish. The servers were similarly nice and friendly. I ordered the cheesy corn hash which was exactly what it said it was apart from literally swimming in oil. I thought there was some kind of sauce on it at first because there was a pool of oil under the food. I couldn't understand how anyone could send food out of a kitchen like that. I had to send it back because it actually made me feel unwell eating it. So I replaced it with a chicken Caesar. The plain Caesar is £9. And the chicken Caesar is £12 I think maybe £15. I could be wrong. There was a adequate amount of good fresh romaine lettuce but very little else. I may be wrong, but the dressing didn't taste house made. There were no anchovies, no croutons, no eggyolk, just lettuce, a bit of dressing and a sparse sprinkle of Parmesan. For £9 I think it's a piss take. The chicken on top was crunchy and tender and relieved the absolute boredom of the salad but was massively over salted. Luckily I like salt but it was a lot even for me. It was nice there but disappointing that two meals in a row were under par. I doubt I'll eat there again.

Coffee was great, came nice and quickly. However, after 30 minutes of waiting, our lunch (toast) still hadn't appeared. They eventually brought us someone else's food, so we asked about our order and they went to check and said they only had enough bread for one of the dishes. They suggested my friend eat his as it was almost ready, while I wait for the bread that was "on the way" to the cafe with no indication of when it would actually be delivered. If they had let us know earlier that there was no bread, we would have ordered something else, and I'm sure we would have enjoyed it. However, they didn't give us this option. The waitress apologised, but on the way out the other member of staff who refunded us for the food, and had originally taken our order, offered no apology at all, despite us waiting over half an hour for food that never came

I love this coffee shop! Such a hidden gem in Brighton. Firstly it has wifi! The food is 10/10 and affordable, the coffee is good too! It is quite a big space too which is nice, they have a garden and an outside seating area if you want to smoke. The staff is great and polite. Everything is nice and clean, and you can serve yourself with water which is a very thoughtful idea! I love coming here to work.

I’ve been wanting to try a Sunday roast here for ages, and I’ll certainly be going back after today’s visit! The food was wonderful, but what really sets this place apart is the brilliant service. Massive thank you to Charlotte and everyone else who made us feel so welcome.

Came here at the weekend to use the bookable private space upstairs for a celebration. The venue were so flexible and accommodating, and very reasonably priced when compared with some of the other spaces available for private hire in Brighton. We spent three hours there, played games and drank their delicious cocktails. We just felt completely at ease there and everyone had a great time.

Best roast we’ve had in Brighton in 3 years (and we’ve had a lot of roasts!) Everything was SPOT ON :)

Sumptuous tapes style dishes to share, bread, olives, polenta, duck, pork, vegan haloumi, all were incredible. You have to watch how much you order as it costs a pretty penny. Coffee was okay too.

Fantastic breakfast we all loved the food, great selection. Breakfast Bloody Mary as a treat, would definitely recommend this little gem if a place!

Utterly impossible to try and book a table at this restaurant - the booking set up is laughable. They don’t respond to the mobile number or reply to booking requests via email and when we *finally* had a table booked about three weeks in advance it was canceled with an email to say we needed to give them a weeks notice before booking…, If this restaurant is successful, and I hope it is, it will be in spite of whoever manages their bookings!

One of the best cafes in the area to work remotely. Pros: - Amazing wifi that hit up to 80mbps download! - A ton of seating, looks way bigger than you think. There's an outdoor terrace with lots of seating, seats downstairs and upstairs. Plenty of power ports available. - While we were here, there weren't too many people so you can find a place to take work calls if needed - Selection of standard coffee drinks, teas, and hot chocolate (could use some funner drink selections) - Morning pastries availability (wish there was more variety and quantity though) - Nice, friendly customer service. You order at the register and then they bring the order to your seat Cons: - The food is pretty mediocre and I wish there were more options on the menu including drinks and food. The morning items are pretty similar variations of eggs and bread. The shakshuka was basic and tasted like it came from canned tomatoes and didn't come with enough bread. Could also use smaller, cheaper food items that are more like snacks versus meals. - There was a woman in the kitchen who was very loud with her music and singing, and she seemed to be shouting while talking to others. It was a bit disruptive. - We weren't able to use our VPN on their wifi which we needed for work.

Made a booking for a roast, turned up on Sunday to be told someone has called you as we are not serving them today. Firstly this is a lie as i never had a missed call, i even emailed the day before and called with no response so no excuse what so ever. Such a shame as we visited last year and had an amazing roast hence booking again, things like this leave such a sour taste for the future

O local é agradavel, mas bastante quente, fomos num dia de calor e realmente estava quente. Fizemos uma reserva breakfast para quatro pessoas e achamos a mesa bastante pequena, sendo que havia outras mais comfortaveis vazias. A comida realmente não estava saborosa. O nosso pedido demorou muito a ficar pronto e a pessoa que nos atendia trouxe apenas 2 pratos, sendo que 1 nao fazia parte do nosso pedido e o outro estava correto e comecei a comer, logo em seguida o atendente veio rapidamente tirar o meu prato dizendo que não era nosso, e mesmo eu já tendo começado a comer retirou o prato e levou para outra mesa. Lamentável!

Top rate coffee and breakfast. Recommend for breakfast when visiting Brighton. Plenty of selection on the menu for both meat eaters and vegetarians, all with very good quality ingredients. I had the Post House Full English featuring a local butchers sausage and a runny poached egg. Couldn’t have asked for more and very good value for money.

We waited 50 minutes after we ordered the food, but the food didn't come out, and Staff said kitchen couldn't make the food because there was a problem in the kitchen. Super annoying they should have told me this sooner.Eventually, we lost an hour and couldn't eat all day because we had another appointment. The staff aren’t friendly either.

Visited for a few hours and wanted to have Sunday lunch. Booked for late afternoon - went for the beef it was probably one of the best roasts I've ever had. Service was friendly and prompt. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. Highly recommended.

Roast dinner was amazing, its a really lovely spot that you might miss but definitely worth the visit. We were served by Moeti, who made our visit! Moeti was attentive, polite and gave us top service!!!

Thumbs up to the post house cafe. Thoroughly chuffed with this One and tbh pleasantly surprised, far superior to my expectations, although to be fair I don't know why in hindsite. My chum and I went for a gamon roast today. Nice cauliflour cheese as standard not an extra. Seasonal roast veg with tasty herbs. Fennel seed with the roast carrot was well balanced and subtle. Pretty good tatties. Certainly tasty. Greens were perfectly cooked. Pigs in blankets and bacon wrapped pork and apricot stuffing as an extra "yummy". All very tasty and really good service. Clean and comfy surrounding . Perfect and content 😋😊

Wonderful cafe. Service was brilliant. Had gluten free option and they happily obliged. Their in house baked beans are delicious. We had the breakfast and it was perfection. Cannot recommend this cafe enough. Thanks for a wonderful experience

Had just the best Sunday roast here on Easter Sunday. The food was just first class and service also was very good, staff very friendly and the whole place had a cracking atmosphere. The only little gripe I have is the service charge. It is 12% of your bill, but sometimes I want to decide how much to leave, but yesterday it was worth paying, Thank you all at the Post House

Meal was excellent, service was poor well non existent, over an hour for the first course to arrive, then we were asked to leave before we finished our courses.sad really. 2 hour limit for table was not sufficient for the standard of service.

I have to say we went in for my birthday today and 7 of use ordered food and drinks. A friend bought 2 cakes and we got charged £15 for “ cakeage” if they would have told us then then we would have saved the cakes until later. It’s absolutely disgusting!!! and won’t be going again. £15 to hand us a knife after we had already spent £235 !!! awful

We had an amazingly delicious Sunday roast. It was a friend's birthday. One of our party brought two little shop bought birthday cakes along, we put candles on, sang happy birthday, asked for a knife to cut them and had a slice each. When we got the bill, they had charged us £15 for doing this!!!!!!! They didn't tell us this would happen, and they knew, as we asked to borrow plates to put the cakes on. We didn't realise until after we left - our mistake. Just be mindful that they do this. Roast highly recommended though.

Came for a roast for friends birthday. The roast was good but The Post House really let itself down by adding a “cakeage” charge to the bill without informing us first. We would have not brought our own cake if we had known this in advance.

Came here for brunch on Saturday. The service was extremely slow. We sat down and waiters had passed by our table multiple times but never stopped to take our order so we finally managed to flag someone down after a long wait. We waited long for our drinks to come and my friend’s juice didn’t come for another 10 minutes after we received coffees. The coffees were pretty expensive for Brighton as any of the milk based coffees were all over £3.60. We had another long wait for the food to come. I was disappointed by the food—in particular, the shakshuka—because of the small portions, lack of flavour, and hard bread. I get full quite easily, but I left feeling hungry and disappointed.

I’ve been here a few times now. It’s a great cafe, lovely decor. Food is always great, home made. Service great. What more do you need! I’ll continue going when I’m down in Brighton.

Great night except we all left hungry the portions are too small for big tables, however what was served was lovely and the staff are fantastic

Went in for breakfast on a Saturday morning but plenty of tables available (it's much bigger than it looks!) The staff were lovely and the venue had really good vibes - dog friendly too. We had a pastry (home-made and delicious), and a full breakfast which was very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely staff but disappointing vegan roast. All roasts come with a Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese, except the vegan option (understandably), but it’s so frustrating when this isn’t made up for. Instead of accounting for the fact the vegan option doesn’t include two components, my plate was significantly smaller than my friend’s. Surely it doesn’t take much to chuck on an extra potato or two? Especially given the fact the vegan option didn’t have any protein (beetroot and onion tart). Also, we all only got one carrot each on our plates. Left feeling hungry.

Found this place while exploring Brighton and stopped for a coffee and cake. All very delicious with very friendly service and a lovely atmosphere!

We came here as a group of 10 (supposed to be 14). The reason we chose the Post House Cafe was because of their menu catering for those with dietary requirements. We were all wowed by the food served here, it was absolutely incredible. The staff were all very friendly and happy too. Definitely recommend and we will definitely be returning!

Group of 6 adults and 2 young children for brunch. The venue is extremely child friendly, the food was once again fantastic and the staff are absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you. First class and rapidly becoming my favourite place in Brighton and Hove. Worth noting that walk in’s are welcome. Can’t recommend this place enough, 5*.

A great spot for a Sunday lunch in Brighton. I had the vegan roast dinner, the centre piece was a delicious wild mushroom & spinach pithivier. Lovely atmosphere and great service.
