Food tasted very fresh and great restaurant atmosphere along with great service would definitely return and recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Ordered a pasta dish on the specials menu which tasted fine, however I was shocked by the tiny portion size. I am half Italian and I am extremely proud of my culture and heritage; I fondly remember how my nonna used to feed me heaps of amazing homemade pasta in the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside. I think she would turn in her grave if she knew there were italian restaurants charging £17 for three forkfuls of pasta! Decent food but the restaurant lacks that Italian heritage and zest for life.

We were extremely disappointed by the Manager. He was soo rude to us. I have only been once before and had a pleasant experience. However, this time it may be to do with the fact that as a family we tend to speak to each other during our meals and not be on our phones and sit in silence. This was not what the Manager wanted and came over and commented could we be quieter. I must admit on the way to the toilet I did notice the other diners sitting in virtual silence on their mobile phones. The Manager continued to give us evil looks even though we had toned the volume down whilst speaking to each other. This all happened after we had just finished eating, it makes me wonder if they just want to get your money and then be rude to get rid of you. We were in such a hurry to get out of the place as the Manager made us feel so uncomfortable, that we did not look at the service charge, which was £30!!! I would have refused to pay this. I have now read the reviews for this place and see that the Manager does have his favourite customers and if you are not a local who goes there regularly be prepared for him to be very rude to you. I would also mention the toilets, the mens toilets the tap fell apart in my husbands hand and the womens toilets are up the stairs going passed a row of washing out drying - not very welcoming or hygienic. I would stay clear of this place, plenty of other restaurants in Canterbury who would make you very welcome.

First class service from Mario and chef Hristo. Could not have done more to make a brilliant experience. I wanted to order a business pizza lunch and rather than use a chain I wanted to use a small independent restaurant, they were fantastic and made sure every detail was perfect. Thank you.

Ate here twice when staying in Canterbury and both times very good. Pasta and pizzas both excellent- pizza well covered with ingredients and very nice crust- nice atmosphere and very good service- all round top class. Check the website for special deals- we got 20% off food when booking here for January.

New years eve. Nice food, polite staff, but 10pm the music turns off and basically the night ends. No offer of drinks, coffee etc. No atmosphere, no idea how to keep customers. Missed opportunity.

Came for dinner, 2 couples, after Evensong in the cathedral. Warm, welcoming and busy. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner. Kitchen more than competent. Front of house friendly and efficient. Very much recommend

Had a lovely experience in Faversham and thought we'd try Canterbury, we were not disappointed. Service was brilliant as was the food, we would recommend this restaurant to all.

We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. I had the veal and mushroom pasta which was delicious. The pasta was perfectly cooked and homemade. My husband had the salmon pasta which he also really enjoyed and our children were very happy with their pizzas. The garlic bread was the softest and tastiest I’ve had in years. To top it off the service was very welcoming, friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend this place, if we lived in Canterbury we would come regularly!

Incredible food, service and atmosphere. Was a perfect post wedding celebration near home. We had guests from Brazil who felt as if they discovered Italy for the first time!

Locale in pieno centro di Canterbury. Decidiamo di provarlo la prima sera perché tra quelli consigliati dal b&b dove soggiorniamo. Alla fine della cena prenotiamo anche per la sera successiva per mangiare la pizza. Senza troppi giri di parole ristorante ottimo, materie prime eccellenti, staff attento e disponibile e la mano dello chef (torinese) che fa sentire l’aria ed il sapore d’Italia. Complimenti!!!! Siamo stati molto bene, abbiamo preso tagliatelle alla bolognese, orecchiette strascinate al salmone e tagliatelle con sugo di vitello e funghi porcini. Cucinato tutto come in Italia, sembrava di essere a casa ed alla fine vero caffè espresso e limoncello. Servizio ottimo, tutti gentilissimi e ringraziamo in particolare Luigi che ci ha"coccolato". Consigliamo sicuramente questo ristorante se volete mangiare qualche specialità italiana.

Popped in for lunch on wet Monday afternoon. The food was really tasty, my pinot was lovely and dry and cold and the staff really friendly. Would definitely return. The restaurant itself is so pretty and in a great location with easy parking right on the doorstep. Would love to head back on a sunny afternoon and sit outside for a long boozy lunch ❤️ well done all.

Great, authentic Italian restaurant which offers a very extensive menu, a great selection of wines and specials in a relaxed setting, We enjoyed a trio of bruschetta from the specials, followed by the Bauletti (Ravioli stuffed with caciocavallo cheese and wild broccoli in butter and sage sauce) and the Linguine al gamberoni (king prawns in a white wine, garlic and cherry tomato sauce with a touch of chilli) which was excellent. All of the staff are really friendly and the manager is excellent. Booking online is easy. For a traditional, authentic Italian offering an excellent choice and quality of food what’s not to like!

We booked this based on a recommendation from the receptionist at our hotel - so glad we did. Great selection on the menu, plus daily specials.The staff were attentive but not overly so. The wine list is great and reasonably priced for a city centre.My husband ordered the octopus starter, which when it arrived realised it probably wasn't for him - a whole grilled tentacle. No issue with changing his mind.All in all excellent value and thoroughly recommended

This is my second time at Posilipo and I genuinely can’t fault it. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is just delicious and well portioned. Can’t wait to come back!

We went to celebrate a very special occasion. Being vegetarian we were very happy. Good choice of food and good and friendly service.The cook was very good who gave us selection of vegetarian dishes. Will recommend our friends who visits Canterbury.

The 4 of us went for a special dinner and was very disappointed. Service was the worst I could possibly experience. Very long waits and had to keep reminding them to serve us. Good was ok but actually disappointing especially when given 1 prawn. Staff not helpful and clearly the manager had his favourite guests of lads in and nobody else mattered. Take it they spent more than my £180

Great little Italian, right next to the cathedral. Excellent food, not pretentious and some interesting different dishes on offer. Good, relaxed service, and great value.

We reserved a table for 4 on a Sunday evening and we we’re a little worried that it would be a bit quiet but we need not have been concerned. The restaurant was busy but we had a warm welcome, we’re shown to our table immediately and settled with menus and drink quickly. The food is superb - I had Antipasto to start and Saltimbocca for main course and both were excellent. The service was attentive, accurate and prompt. An easy 5 out of 5!

I cannot express how incredible our experience was here. I had the zuppa di pesce (fish soup) and it was absolutely incredible! Every time I dug through the mussels, prawns and clams I found more octopus and other fish! I pulled out the biggest octopus arm I've ever seen and it had me laughing from the shock of it! If you're a seafood lover, you'll love this! Staff were also amazing, attentive and talkative! Do not miss this opportunity!

My margherita was authentically good and the red wine by the half litre choice is very good. Ours was a quick stop but those around us taking advantage of the seafood dishes looked happy. Affogato with Frangelico highly recommended if you are too stuffed for a dessert.

We had not intended to go to an Italian restaurant as we are an Italian family and it’s like home cooking. How wrong could we have been. We walked past and went in as it looked inviting. The place was very clean and homely. We had Pizza’s and Tagliata di manzo. The Pizza pasta was sublime, probably the best we have had outside Italy. The service was very friendly and at a very good service level. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone, most importantly, very good value for money and very good quality of food. Compliments to the restaurant.

Our party of 6 had dinner here on a Saturday night. Located just outside the city centre the restaurant offers good, honest Neapolitan cuisine. The restaurant has a certain charm to it with a rustic décor and a traditional wood burning pizza oven. We enjoyed a selection of the beautiful freshly baked focacce (hand stretched pizza bread) and a dish with polenta from the specials board for starter. The linguine Posillipo (clams, mussels and king prawns in a white wine, garlic and cherry tomato sauce with a touch of chilli) and the Bauletti (Ravioli stuffed with caciocavallo cheese and wild broccoli in butter and sage sauce) were superb and the rest of our party all really enjoyed their meals. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced - we had several bottles of the Barolo DOCG which was exceptional. The young waitress was really welcoming and friendly and provided very attentive personal service. If you want great quality, authentic Italian food avoid the pseudo-Italian chains in Canterbury and try Posillipo - it comes very highly recommended.

We prebooked a table for a party of 4 a couple of weeks previously, and visited the restaurant during the day and pushed the booking back an hour, no issue just advised that we would only have the table for 90 minutes, that would be enough for us.The restaurant can accommodate many groups inside, and a few tables outside too. A wide selection of pasta, pizzas, and meat dishes, with the antipasto all Italian being a good choice for 4 as a starter, or 2 very hungry diners.For mains we chose pizzas, 2 different risottos, and carbonara, all were tasty, and authentic. The staff were all friendly, and we could see the reason for the imposed time-limit, the customers were non stop.Would highly recommend, and we would definitely eat here again.

We ate here on a Thursday evening and by 7.30 the restaurant was full.We had carbonara and the linguine posillipo ( clams,mussels,) both were excellent. The house red wine was also very good. Our meal was reasonably priced and service was also very good. This Italian managed to stand our amongst the many Italian restaurants in Canterbury and offered authentic Italian food. So much nicer than the chain restaurants take on Italian food. Would definitely recommend that you eat here.

Booked a table weeks ago, but when we arrived were shown to an awful table almost out of the door. Staff new nothing about the wines on offer. Had calamari to start which was like trying to eat a bicycle inner tube. When I complained they tried to argue that it was fresh that day and no one else had complained. Rest of the meal was was also pretty awful. Despite the claims on their website, I think the quality of the food and the cooking were awful. Best to avoid

After shopping in Canterbury for two hours decided to have some lunch in town, looking at the restaurant's on offer mostly belong to chains.so walking along King's Mile we happened on Posillipo opposite the King's School. Fantastic menu with great food and will certainly be going back soon.

Fancied something a bit special so got ourselves booked in for the evening and was shown to an outside table with the sun still shining Ordered a carafe of house red and watched the world go by Our starters came the tuna tartar and the mussels were delicious followed by our mains the mixed seafood linguine and the cod were outstanding The cod was a large piece that was beautifully cooked and it made a welcome change to eat a seafood pasta without the generic bag of Iceland Fruits de la Mer thrown in The mussels prawns and clams were still in their shells Fabulous It was evident they were understaffed but they managed it so well x

We were lucky enough to come here for lunch. We had bread & olives to start & these were very good.. For main my husband had the tuna, langoustine and squid with sauté potatoes & I had Saltimbocca with sauté potatoes. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. We also ordered sides of spinach & aubergine which were also full of flavour. We were pretty full but greedily tried the baked cheesecake with fruit coulis which was lovely and light. All in all a delicious lunch with good friendly service. Would definitely come here again.

The best Italian food we have tasted in UK. Service was friendly and not rushed. We had a really enjoyable lunch in the sunshine.

I like eating here at this Italian style restaurant as it's not a nationwide chain & on this occasion I think it was the best meal I've had here. I started off with the tuna tartare which was really good . I followed this with the Zuppa di pesce & pasta which was excellent. It was packed with fish - clams, prawns , octopus , halibut & was very tasty.My husband was a bit disappointed with his Nduja pizza which he found too salty.Lively atmosphere & friendly service.

Walked through Canterbury looking for somewhere to eat and happened upon this just as we were about to turn around.The food and service was superb, there was literally nothing to fault about the entire experience, including the bill. Great atmosphere within the restaurant itself and the staff were very attentive without being imposing.It was so good would probably come back to Canterbury just to eat here again.

We are regular customers at Posillipo and always come away satisfied! A family run and authentic Italian experience. The selection of food on offer is excellent (with a good choice for vegetarians and vegans). Waiting staff are friendly, fast and knowledgable. Great for takeaway too!

The food was good and the service was friendly. The restaurant was completely empty when we came but despite being the only people in the whole restaurant, two of our main courses arrived as the wrong dishes and had to be sent away. The rest of the table had eaten half their meal before the correct dishes arrived. The staff apologised and fixed the issue but if that happens when the restaurant is empty I’m not sure how they cope when it’s full.

On our first visit we could see that demand for tables constantly outstripped availability but Annunziata handled all this with calm charm and efficiency.The pizza was in a different league from the normal High Street fare,produced remarkably quickly from the wood fired oven.Coffee too,decaffeinated was of good quality.Altogether a place to which we shall return.

This was an excellent find. We were a large group of 10 including 4 children aged 8 to 13, and all of us had a lovely time. The food was excellent as was the service, pleasant and fast. A fair price at £30 per head for everything. Strongly recommended.

With my family did not comfortable or welcomed to this restaurant. The staff seemed confused to take the order -there were barely 4 or 5 more tables with diners-. A person first took the order of drinks, and when I said we needed a faster service because we had to appointments booked -Canterbury Cathedral and Roman Museum- she said she was not able to take our order. We had to continue waiting until we had to ask other waiter to take our order. At last it was taken, but we had to take too much for our food. Finally, we missed one of our appointments. The service was horrible, the quality/price ratio not covenient, the food was not as good as expected, and the atmosphere was not good neither. Very bad experience!!

We visited this restaurant during our holiday and I have to say it was very disappointing. Being a foodie and especially when it comes to Italian food and pizza, I have to say this was one of the worst I’ve ever tried from an Italian restaurant. The Margherita Pizza did have a nice crispy crust and well fired base, however there was far too much tomato sauce on it. It was literally drowned in tomato sauce, which anyone who knows pizza understands this is not how it’s done.Sadly the pasta arrabiata was not a lot better and the pasta al salmone, while cooked to perfection was quite bland.Add in the fact we waited 30 minutes between finishing our starter and the main arriving, made for a disappointing experience.I’ve eaten at much better Italian restaurants for much better value. A few tweaks and this place could be great. For now its lackluster.

The food and service were exceptional in every regard. My fiance and I, both vegetarian, had more than enough delicious choices to choose from and will be back here as soon as we can to try something else from the menu. Went to Posillipo on a quiet day (Sunday) and found a little gem of a restaurant located next to Canterbury Cathedral. We sat outside and was lucky enough to experience the music school in session across the road (playing a selection of beautiful songs).When we were served (by Annanunzia) we found her and her manager to be really polite & friendly. Service was prompt and we received our starters almost immediately. We wasn’t rushed to choose our food which was a bonus because the restaurant is situated in such a lovely part of Canterbury! When our food arrived it was well presented, delicious and hot (& the cold dishes suitably chilled). The menu is well varied with lots of choices (took me ages to make my mind up & by the look of what I saw other customers order, there is a fab selection of dishes to choose from!) My wife & I ordered 3 courses with x2 non-alcoholic drinks for £68 [gratuity not included]. If I’d have had room I would have ordered more! The pizzas look amazing as does the selections of wine on offer and the condiments provided are all authentic Italian products.If you’re looking for good food & a really nice spot to eat at then make sure you check this place out - you won’t be disappointed by the location, service, food or price. Definitely returning when we re-visit the town! As we left and made our way up the road, both the waitress & manager came to say goodbye even though they were busy with other customers (we felt that to be a lovely touch of warmth and welcome from them both and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Italian food and good friendly service!)

First time visit and had heard good things from a while back so looking forward to an early evening dinner out in CanterburyArrived and stood waiting by door with a server just continuing to look without coming over, after a couple of minutes entered the restaurant to be then greeted by another young lady who asked us to step outside (no signs asking to wait outside due to COVID etc otherwise would not have entered) we told the lady we had a reservation for 7 (it was 6:54) and she said ok please wait outside - I noticed there were at least 4 tables made up inside with no one sat at them and asked if we could sit at our table (look at menu order drinks) told firmly no we had to wait till our table time!Approx 2 minutes later a man came out and asked us to come in to our table, we were then served either by a young waiter who was clearly new and made multiple mistakes but with no one guiding/helping him or the young girl who by now seemed to be trying to be a little more helpfulFood was ok and time taken to bring the courses to the table was ok, had to remind her more than once to bring the correct food or drinks but overall the rest of the evening was acceptable but such an unwelcoming entrance almost made us just leave without eating. Very poor welcome and staff clearly need some customer service training

I booked a table mid week and was squeezed into a table by the door. We had our drinks order taken quickly but had to call the waitress to take the food order, and then we waited, and waited and waited. Eventurally our starter arrived after over 30 mins, it was good when it arrived but the girls who waited the table didn't seem to have any understanding as to what cutlery to bring to the table, I was given a knife and fork to eat pasta! After our starter there was again about a 15 minute wait, again too long in my opinion, there should be a maximum of 10 mins between starter and main.There was a large birthday party on in the adjoining room but frankly this must have been booked so there would have been time to take on extra staff. It is a shame because the food tasted good but the service would put me off eating there again. The bill was on the high side too.

After being served fish that was clearly past its best - as soon as it hit the table there was an awful smell, the smell of the fish was so awful that I couldn’t even bring myself to try it, it was also served with the skin that was completely soggy - who wants soggy fish skin?The waitress then brought out a plate with 2 pieces of raw cod, and waived them in my face, she said “see these are fresh today, there’s nothing wrong with them” - I mean there’s a few things wrong with this response…Firstly, why are you parading raw fish around the restaurant that someone else will have to eat?…Secondly, what did you want me to do with it, pick it up and examine it? And to be perfectly honest, it didn’t even look particularly fresh…. She also then went on to tell me that she couldn’t smell anything on my dish… so clearly telling me I was wrong…Thanks for ruining a lovely meal with utterly poor customer service - you could have easily rectified the situation by apologising and moving on - even if I was wrong (but I’m certainly not going to be eating a dish that smells the way it did) rather than making me feel like I should have just shut up and ignored the foul smell on my plate. So as well as being served fish that smelled awful, the situation was handled in possibly the worst way I’ve ever encountered. Our starters also came out in less than 5 minutes - that doesn’t scream freshly made to me…

I had attended a friend's birthday party having some fish platters, which was very fresh, I was quite impressed. Kevin has been very helpful and professional. All i can say is that i recommend the venue for fish food lovers

Lunchtime visit the restaurant was quiet but still a nice atmosphere. Highy recommend the wood fired pizzas and the seafood risotto. Staff freindly and service good. No lunchtime specials but main menu has lots of choice.

Amazing service. Seen to instantly with booking. Fast and friendly service and the food came out so quickly! I had the linguine cozze cant recommend enough :) will definitely be back! Also very reasonable pricing

Abbiamo preso insalata di polpo, calamari, linguine allo scoglio e paccheri in crema di asparagi, grancio e gamberi,tutto buonissimo e belle porzioni. Anke la pizza era davvero buona. One shop front wide but it extends on to lovely covered terrace overlooking the beach. Top class food and service. I felt it knew it was good and has the reputation as the best Italian restaurant in the town. Staff helpful and delayed our reservation time after we called in earlier to check. Every table taken in late May which is a testament to its quality.

Another brilliant experience dining at Posillipo. Beautiful food, ambiance and fantastic staff. Couldn’t recommend more.

Lovely evening out with a friend for dinner. It was the first night of the new restrictions - 17th of May. It was my first time visiting, and it was lovely. Food was amazing and service was excellent. Very good Covid safety also.Will be back

Great food and fantastic ambience - especially for a couple. The food can sometimes be a bit plain/lacking toppings (especially on a pizza) - however you can ask the staff to create your food so that it suits your taste. The toilet needs a bit of TLC.

My friend and I were really enjoying our pizzas, delicious desserts and the lovely ambiance (despite Covid arrangements) until we were rushed out of the restaurant after barely swallowing our last bite. Unfortunately they lost out on their tip as the waiter typed a payment amount into the card machine as soon as we’d said that we would be splitting the bill, without waiting for us to confirm how much we wanted to pay. We were finishing off our drinks when the manager came and said to us “I don’t mean to rush you but someone is waiting for your table”... We hadn’t even been there for two hours, the length of time stated in our booking confirmation. What an unfortunate and unpleasant end to a lovely evening, and we had just been discussing how Posillipo is one of our favourite restaurants in Canterbury and were planning our next visit. A real shame, if the team had only managed to keep smiling for another 5-10 minutes...

Exceptional meal for my birthday with my boyfriend on Saturday. Regular customers of all three restaurants and i have to say this one is my favourite for quality of food! Just LOVE posillipo and the staff always go above and beyond

Les había llamado previamente para informarles que necesitábamos una trona. Esto no se proporcionó en la mesa y tuvimos que pedir uno para estar disponible.Nos sentamos durante unos 10 minutos antes de que alguien nos pidiera una orden de bebidas y el servicio fue lento.Después de que llegaran nuestras bebidas, pasamos un tiempo decidiendo qué queríamos para nuestra comida y pedimos. Los entrantes llegaron rápido y fueron muy agradables. Los platos principales llegaron, desafortunadamente, los platos principales a base de tomate no tuvieron incidentes y no fueron particularmente sabrosos.No hicimos una queja ya que el restaurante entregó las comidas que se ordenaron. Nuestro primer viaje a posillipo durante muchos años, buscábamos un lugar especial para celebrar un cumpleaños, un lugar más individual que las cadenas de restaurantes que pueblan todas las calles principales.Los camareros fueron excelentes en su acercamiento al cliente y su simpatía, la única crítica real fue una larga espera entre llegar al restaurante y tomar un pedido de bebidas.El menú era extenso y tomó un tiempo decidir qué pedir, pero nos quedamos impresionados con la calidad de los entrantes, aunque lamentablemente, ese fue realmente el punto culminante.Llegaron los platos principales, pero la mitad de nuestro grupo no tenía platos y el consenso básico de todos fue que el ragú base simplemente no tenía sabor. Esto fue decepcionante ya que la calidad es lo que distingue a los restaurantes independientes de las cadenas. No se presentaron quejas ya que entregaron lo que pedimos, solo que la calidad de la mitad de los platos no fue la que esperábamos.Pensé que los precios eran razonables, no muy diferentes a los de la cadena italiana, y el restaurante tenía un ambiente agradable pero, según nuestra experiencia, los platos a base de tomate no eran tan impresionantes como los que podía servir en casa y, por esta razón, no volveremos.

La pizza Romano "sin gluten" estaba deliciosa, pero desafortunadamente debe haber estado llena de gluten o muy contaminada con gluten. Only found this via Trip with the help of google maps! A lovely restaurant, excellent service and lovely food. My husband’s seafood risotto was the “best ever”.

I was visiting Canterbury for the first time and am so happy I came across this restaurant to book - the staff are the loveliest, friendliest people and you can tell they genuinely want you to have the best experience with them.The food is delicious and the menu is huge - it has a whole section for Vegetarian and Vegan so covers everyone. I had the smoked mozzarella and tomato pizza and it was up there with the best! We sat outside on the cutest little cobbled street. 100% recommend if in Canterbury/visiting!

Hadn't booked and clearly the restaurant was very busy, but we were asked to wait a few minutes and then show to a table.Drinks order taken promptly and not a long wait for them to be put on the table. Given there is an extensive menu (quite a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes), we were given time to chose and didn't feel rushed.We both went for pasta. Both meals were tasty, hot and to our liking.The staff were all pleasant, friendly and efficient.We would go again next time we visit Canterbury.

Visited with my family the food and wine list was great. All the food we had was amazing, so well made. Excellent service too and a very friendly team. Lots of space between tables too. Highly recommend

Found by chance while walking down the street after being turned down by two restaurants for dinner. These guys even though super busy, accomodated us right away at an outside table and even put an extra umbrella, to cover us from the drizzle. The service was outstanding, the staff were very polite and served us very fast considering the amount of clients. The food itself was of high quality and we managed to try beers we haven't tried before. I would highly recommend this place. Thanks to the Slovakian waiter, i can't unfortunately remember his name, for being so professional and amazing with us. An amazing person to have in a team. Cheers!

Excellent food on a first time visit. Unfortunately the usual problem of inflated Canterbury prices and individual dishes expensive for what they were. Starters and desserts highly marked up, but an all too common issue with most restaurants nowadays.Customer service first rate and attentive to needs.

We stopped here and had a great meal. It was busy and the was a wait but it was well worth it. I wouldn't say that this was a cheap meal but it was well worth it.

An excellent meal. One of the best Italian meals I've had in the UK infact. Fresh authentic dishes, good service and excellent wine all for a reasonable price. Looking forward to another visit!

Lovely fresh pasta dishes, with a pleasant atmosphere. Service was quick to start but then left alone for the remainder of the meal. Hard to get a second drink or the bill. Would recommend from our choices the pappardelle paesana as it’s was loaded with vegetables and a creamy sauce. The strascinati salsica was too rich for me but cooked beautifully.

The food was so delicious! The tomato pasta was particularly lovely. The waiters were nice and would definitely recommend the mussels and ice cream!

Nice food, attentive staff, reasonably priced. The location isn't great, especially if sat outside, but that's a minor point.

Stopped in for lunch, it’s a nice calm (very Italian way) of service. Which is exactly what we wanted, waitresses where lovely very accommodating and extremely polite. The food was fantastic, after months of lock down. The taste of proper Italian food hits you like an ******. Couldn’t be more happy with any of it. Highly recommend will eat here again. The tiramisu was particularly amazing.Thank you

We visited the restaurant on a Wednesday night where to our delight there was a any pizza for £8!! Whilst the food was good we found the service not to be great, staff seemed to be disinterested and was unwelcoming! The side dishes that we ordered went a stray and after a gentle reminder we got 1 of the 2 after we finished our main.. All in all very average and wouldn't return.

Lovely Italian food, generous portions and excellent service. So much nicer than the standard Italian chain restaurants! Only criticism is that current Covid guidelines were not adhered to - lack of social distancing and sharing of menus.

We've got impressed with the service and quality of the steak, if we weren't full I'd go for seconds easily.....

Such a lovely restaurant, with great staff and amazing food. Had the seafood linguine and the black in ravioli and a selection of starters and all were superb. We wish there was a branch closer to home !

Posillipo’s has quickly become our favorite spot in Canterbury for dinners out. Arguably some of the best Italian food we’ve had in the UK (I always order the pizza). The staff are friendly and the food never disappoints. We’ve taken family there a couple times and look forward to spending our anniversary there next week. Don’t miss out on the Affogato for dessert.

We arrived to a warm welcome at this bustling restaurant. Lively atmosphere. Good tasty food choices and generous portion sizes. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was AMAZING. Such authentic, beautiful Italian food. Service was very slow but they were extremely busy. Can’t wait to go back! Ravioli with scallops was amazing, trio of bruschetta was beautiful...loved it all!

Posillipo is easily one of the best Italian restaurants in Canterbury and I've never had a bad meal here. My last visit was on my birthday with my girlfriend and it was as pleasant as ever. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is usually buzzing. I went for one of the pizzas, which never disappoint. I have to commend them for being generous with their portion sizes and toppings/ingredients - we all know that certain Italian chains can be pretty miserly! The value for money is pretty good, although it can start to get on the pricey side if you insist on going for 3 courses and a bottle of wine. Still, if it's for a special occasion I don't mind splashing out a bit. Will absolutely be back again.

We fancied Italian, as we have excellent Indian, Chinese and Turkish restaurants where we live, so asked the receptionist at our hotel (the Cathedral Gate, right in the centre of town), which one of the several we found on Google she would recommend. She said Posilippo was by far her favourite.It was located about 5 minutes' walk from the hotel, so we actually popped in to book a table for that evening, as we passed. The menu posted outside looked great, and we noticed there was a large vegetarian and vegan section (though we're not!).The interior is divided into several sections, and it appears they seat couples in a quieter, side area, which we certainly appreciated, as it was our wedding anniversary, and the main section actually sounded pretty rowdy! The service was pleasant, without being obsequious.The restaurant also offered specials of the day, and as we weren't very hungry, we just went straight for the main courses. My husband chose from the specials: the squid ink pasta with seafood, plus a rucola salad with parmesan, whilst I had the chicken with parma ham, mozzarella and a light wine sauce, from the main menu, plus side orders of saute potatoes and green beans fried in garlic and oil. My memory is that the main dishes were both around £12, and the sides were about £3 each. The portions were very generous, and I was unable to finish any of mine, even with my husband tucking into my veg. The quality was brilliant, though definitely not "fine dining", and we were happy to wait a while for the food to arrive, as it was obviously cooked from scratch. We also enjoyed watching the chef make pizzas to bake in the wood-fired oven near our table.We had a Peroni, a glass of rose, and a valpollicella, with our meal, and again, my memory is that the prices were reasonable, at around £4.50 a glass.I realised when I looked more closely at the menu, that this was one of 3 Posilippo restaurants, and that I'd actually also eaten at the Faversham branch, when staying with friends, who live there. I had had an excellent meal there, too, though it was possibly slightly posher. We saw those friends the next day, and they said they'd also eaten at the Broadstairs branch, and had a great meal there, too, so the management obviously manage to maintain quality throughout!

I rarely give 5* reviews but Posillipo came close. We came here for a post-graduation lunch for 14 of us. Very helpful - set up the pre-ordered champagne (well, why wouldn’t you?), very welcoming and efficient. We ordered a wide variety of dishes but the Tagliata di Manzo and Ribeye (very good he says himself) were real stars, as was the Seafood Risotto. Loads of classic pizzas and pasta but the menu was far more than that with some excellent specials as well. Also a full page each of Vegetarian and Vegan options. Good wine list with an excellent reasonably priced Brunello Di Montalcino being our choice.We were there at 1515 and didn’t leave till gone 1800 by which time other people wanted our table. They gently and politely eased us out which was absolutely fair nad the right way to do it......We have another graduation next year - I think we might well be back!

Estamos por Canterbury e escolhemos este restaurante italiano para jantar. As reviews eram boas, os pratos pareciam ter bom aspecto... porque não? Chegámos agora ao Hotel e tenho a dizer que a minha experiência foi... má. Não estou de todo satisfeita. Não saí de lá com fome mas não comi boa comida. As entradas? Terrível... pedimos bruschetta, cogumelos com chillies, e pão de alho. Honestamente, um pior que o outro. Sem graça, mal temperados, sem sabor. O pior disto tudo são os cogumelos enlatados que nos servem numa taça fancy - claramente de lata, crus, sem sabor nenhum. Não acreditei no que estava a comer... Como main course pedi uma massa vegetariana que também achei muito pobre. Só tinha sabor de tomate (enlatado, eu acho. Mas sem certezas). Ainda adicionei o resto dos cogumelos crus que me tinham servido mas sem grande sucesso. Nisto tudo, no início da refeição, a waitress supostamente serviu a nossa bebida no copo (cerveja). Digo supostamente porque ela pegou literalmente na cerveja, encheu 1/3 do copo sem qualquer cuidado, como se fosse agua, deixando o copo cheio de espuma. Não percebi. A única coisa que safou a refeição para mim foi a sobremesa... uma tarte de chocolate vegan muito boa. Nisto tudo paguei £5 por uma cerveja (o que é estranho porque não estou no centro de londres....). No geral, não gostei, e não vou voltar. Quando a conta veio fiquei decepcionada. £30 por cabeça totalmente descabido para a qualidade da comida.

Wonderful, from beginning to end! Fabulous starters, Rib eyed steak was delicious...Perfection...Service..Spot on! Go...My diners....Be spoilt...Enjoy!

We had a lovely lunch on New Year's Eve.Staff friendly and welcoming,authentic well-presented Italian food.Great wine not over-priced. Would recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting the lovely city of Canterbury.

We ate in there last Tuesday on a recommendation from where we were staying and was not disappointed! The food was amazing, the wine was good and the service great too! Only wish I lived closer

Another visit back to this most cosy Italian and it went very well. Our group needed a warming, welcoming eatery and this is what we had. I as usual went for a meaty pizza while the group sampled various dishes from the pasta menu. There are just a few restaurants under this name and they all manage to create they're own style and identity. (The Broadstairs one is very good in the summer). I do not think that the big chains can create much of their own individual feeling. I like this Canterbury Posillipo and will be sure to return again.

My partner and I visited on a Saturday evening after spotting the restaurant on Google maps, as we were only staying in Caterbury for one night. It was very busy but they managed to accommodate us at 830. We loved that the menu was written in Italian and English and all of the italian decorations made it seem like you were really in italy. The waitresses were great and italian too. The pizza tasted just like one from Italian with a super soft crust and delicious marinara sauce.

Visité Posillipo en Canterbury después de la recomendación de nuestro hotel y no nos decepcionó. Amable bienvenida y excelente servicio, aunque el restaurante estaba lleno. No es comida rápida, pero excelente comida y nuestra camarera nos ayudó con nuestro incipiente aprendizaje del idioma italiano. El estándar era similar a los restaurantes con precios mucho más altos. Escondido en el centro de la ciudad, pero vale la pena buscarlo.

The food was delicious! Very nice staff and the dessert is to die for! Surely will return. We were impressed with the variety in the menu, there is a lot to choose from😄

Food was very nice, sliced ribeye on rocket with tomato was excellent and cooked just right. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the traditional pizza oven is a nice touch. Would recommend for anyone who likes Italian food. Very reasonably priced as well.
