I had to stop for years and I finally succeeded. Excellent post-work stop.

Popped in for lunch with my husband who raved about the burger here. I took his lead and we both ordered the burger. Oh my goodness he was right to rave about it, it was delicious. Best burger I've had. Nice side of wedges too. Very generous portion size and very good price. Lovely staff and nice surroundings. Would recommend!

Spot on. Traditional, modern, comfy, clean. Absolute suntrap, beautiful view of the Church. Draughts £5-6. Dogs allowed, hooks for your bags. Really relaxed place to visit.

Good range of craft beers, lovely fresh pizza, extremely friendly staff and ska/reggae tracks playing softly in the background. Ideal!

Driving through Bristol we stopped off for lunch. Food was great, staff very friendly and service quick. Everything we could have wanted.

Flooded toilets! A customer mentioned it to a bar staff member, nothing was done when I went to the toilets later, all that was needed was for a staff member to mop it up with a mop. Will not be returning any time soon!

Was on a pub crawl around the harbouring with a couple of friends was a lovely hot day but sat in the window seat the windows were open and nice breeze blowing through. Great service good choice of beers love this place

Great position. Food fresh a d tasty and made with high quality ingredients. Staff friendly and accommodating. Even laughing at our jokes. Prices reasonable for a city centre. Veg option tasty and filling.

Already giving this place 5 stars before eating. Very very kind woman behind the bar said the food was closed but as I have come down from Manchester for work and she still served me food. Also very nice small place and the guinness was very nice.

Sorry but this is a negative review of a nice pub. 6 Nations Rugby on and 2 locals who only had 1 drink each controlled the tv and had horse racing on! Lost a lot of customers and revenue. Very strange policy to let 2 locals control the only tv in the place

Very decent boozer. Great Friday evening vibe. The start of the weekend was celebrated fully.

Due to demand they kindly opened early for us,(we were a stag party on a mission) One lady serving and she was excellent nobody was waiting.

In town for work and I've often noticed this place but hadn't been in. Really enjoyed a quiet pint at the end of the day in comfortable and welcoming surroundings. Will definitely be back.

A scab pub. Landlord cancelled railway workers' Christmas party booking because the strike had affected him. Avoid.

I'd just arrived in Bristol with nowhere to sleep so I went to the nearest pub which was this Portwall Tavern. The blond barmaid was really nice and helpful showing me which way to go. It was a Monday so expected to be quiet. Smart pub but not posh. Oh also I was allowed to charge my phone. Afterwards I realized the name of the pub. Portwall must mean the delivery ships/boats used to come up this far .... Tables and chairs outside for smoking. Cool calm and collected area.

Bustling little pub with outside seating. Quick efficient service at the bar and food arrived in a reasonable time. My pulled pork ciabatta was very nice.

If your after a pint close to the travelodge this does the trick. Not fancy, bit run down but good for sport and a place to gather.

What a gem of a place this is, great host and lovely food, all cooked to order, nice and fresh, the wedges were excellent and so were the burgers and fish fingers, definitely worth another look when we are next in Bristol

I really love this pub, it has become a place to relax after a long day - it’s easy to sink into their chairs facing the bar and enjoy the laugh and chatter of the bar staff. The drinks are well- priced, and the bar staff, greet each customer with such enthusiasm and cheerfulness that I can’t help but come back over and over! 5 stars 😁

Had a nice lunchtime meal of cod and chips. My colleague had the same and very nice it was too. Very good value and the staff were very helpful and courteous.

Nice place, worth a visit, it was quiet when we visited , which for us was a bonus

I like this pub as an after work venue. Bar staff and owner are always very pleasant and friendly. Prices for pints are average but they don’t have soft drinks on draught meaning my double vodka and Diet Coke was over £8. Won’t be having one of those in there again!

We had a table booked for a work event at this place as we had a meeting nearby and the person who booked it thought that it seemed like a nice local pub for a few drinks and a bite to eat afterwards. It is certainly easy to find as a big blue building sandwiched sandwiched within some others and it had a small outdoor seated area to enjoy the last bits of sun. However we soon discovered that the menu is extremely limited. Pretty much pizza only. Which did rule out a number of our party from dining there. I had the lamb pizza. It wasn't all that impressive. Not much topping. Nobody else was raving about their choices either. The one good thing was the stock of Mermaid Gins and Salted Vodka, but other than that - entirely unremarkable. Far better places to go nearby (eg. Pasture is a nice steak place next door or, if you want outdoor drinks and some food, the Ostrich would be a better bet or the Hole in the Wall which is very close too).

The owner was rude to my family and me. The food was cold and the sauce had a strange scabby layer on top of it. Would not recommend it.

Had the pleasure visiting Portwall tavern again for lunch with the kids after my visit earlier this year. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We simply had to come back for the pulled lamb sandwich and it was again just amazing !!!!! Highly recommended!!!!!!! Well worth a visit as you’ll not be disappointed

A great little place to grab a few beers & meet some friends, located less than a 7 minute walk to Bristol temple meads it makes us a good pit stop while you wait for your train

Stopped off by pure chance as we were en route to Wales and decided to pop I for a quick snack. My son ordered the lamb ciabatta which was out of this world!!!!!!! Simply the best, tastiest and well presented sandwich. 10/10. Highly recommended.

I've just been reminded by Google of a review I did about 3 years ago. I'm now giving it an extra star. The food is fine, but I now mainly come here for after work drinks. Good beers, great atmosphere and really efficient bar people (so you don't queue for ages). The tables outside are good in almost all weathers.

No frills pub, not a particularly friendly barman, tried a bit of chat but not returned. Was surprised to see Gloucester Brewery's Cascade being served - a very nice beer, so I had one

Good stop on the way to/from Temple Meads.

Was midafternoon when I visited so quiet. Beer seemed fairly well priced and there were a few tables outside. Bar staff were pleasant.

We used this pub a few times on a recent city break in Bristol we found it to be one of the nicest and friendliest pub in an area with a lot of good pubs within walking distance. Good service good beer and wine and friendly staff and customers. Not a difficult formula but well executed here for sure. Give it a try. You won’t be sorry.

Loved it! We were able to book a table for 7. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Finding time to prepare some Pizza's for us even though they were busy. We will definitely be back.

Busy boozer on Friday night. Myself and 10 friends spent the night there. In general good beers with nice ambiance. Prices were in line with central. Depends what you want, but chap behind the bar wasn't terribly friendly. Other reviews say otherwise so maybe just an off night for him. The lady behind bar was far more chatty.

Lovely pint, nice setting, qas a bit early though so only a couple of others in there so not much atmosphere. Will definitely go back though when allowed back in the office.

First time in the centre of Bristol, taken here by colleagues after work. Right from the outset, it was friendly and accommodating, even offered to let me try some of the ale before buying. Sat outside and water an hour I ordered Pizza “The Pig”. It was absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hours spent there and can’t find fault anywhere.

Its a great little pub. Nice views; St Mary redcliffe church across the way. Cobbled streets. All them cozy vibes. Needs more ale but their pizzas are alright and the bar staff are legendary. If you're on your way to the train station via the centre, its an opportune moment for a cheeky travel pint! Or just get involved for any old reason innit.

The two ladies working Wednesday night were the most welcoming and friendly you could find. Highly recommend the Portwall Tavern, if you’re just passing through or for a regular spot. 10/10

I really wish I lived in the area as I would definitely make this place my local. Nice music, nice atmosphere and a friendly barman. I would give Portwall Tavern 6 stars if I could. I hope I'll have an excuse to come back soon

Really kind staff, nice selection of drinks.

Perfect pint stop on the walk home from shopping in town. Changed greatly since my last visit many moons ago but all for the better and looks great. Good beer and cider selection. Sat out front in the sunshine which is a lovely bonus now the street is closed off to traffic.

Pleasant late evening drink on the outside tables. Can't really add much more as we only had one before heading off home.

Nice pub good selection of ales and seating in and out ,very clean and tidy friendly service will definitely be back.

Prices on spirits are very good. Definitely will come again whenever I'm in Bristol

Found this place to near the end of our 3 week job wished we had found it sooner pizza and all the food was brill hospitality was great as well landlord great chap well worth a visit highly recommend . Dave

Good location, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. The beer selection was a touch limited, but that is nit-picking. The food was good, all in all a nice pub to visit.

Really lovely people eveyone who worked there had a chat with us. our drinks were never empty, made me some lovely food which wasn't even on the menu and went the extra mile to help us!

Katy was an amazing barmaid - Efixinet, friendly service. 5 stars all the way !
