Very good food and good price. They have a special mixed fish stew on Fridays, which is really good. Also healthy.

Delicious and homemade food!! Located in the busy St Nicholas Market but this just added to the environment. Ordered the meatballs with rice and some potato wedges which was so tasty! Perfect comfort food! My husband also ordered a pastel de nata pastry. The centre was soft but didn't have a caramelised topping. The seating area and tables were also kept clean.

I got a pastel de nata and it was just ok. The top wasn’t caramelized very much. The tart dough was a bit dry as well. I’ve had better pastels de nata in Canada. I will say the service was great and I didn’t have to wait long before I received my order. The price was also good (£1.50).

If we lived close by, we would be here every week. Both of us are fans of custard tarts-from dim sum custard tarts to Soutj African melk tarts. We have nata nearly everywhere we go and this is the best ever ... super crispy pastry that is just the right thickness and custard that is fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. Nata straight out of the oven for brekkie is such a luxury. Their bolo de arroz also transported us straight to Portugal. Holiday in a bite :)

Consistently really nice food. Friendly and pleasant. Get a pastel de nata too for after your meal - they are these little custard and cinnamon pastries and they are just fantastic. Everything comes with salad and either rice or chips. The rice is good but the chips are excellent, browned to perfection.

Has been here at least 12 years, I first went down during Euro 2004 (don't mention the final…). The menu has barely changed in that time, but that's a good thing. Comfort food, Portuguese style – large platefuls of rice/chips with stews of cod, chicken, pork etc. Eat elbow-to-elbow at the tiny tables, or ask for takeaway. And you must try the pasteis de nata (preferably with a coffee). These rich, sweet and creamy egg custard tarts in crumbling pastry are a characteristic treat all over Portugal. They are also served now in places like Nandos etc. but Portuguese Taste made them famous around here and rightly so. I had my first one here years ago and the experience proved instantly addictive. So remember to stop by for one, even if you've already had your main course elsewhere! Just please don't take the very last one, in case I am on my way…

Never been to Portugal, but know what feijoada is from chat at our local Portuguese-owned coffee shop. So, when we stumbled on this homely-looking stall in Bristol's St Nicholas Market, I could not resist giving it a go. And I was not disappointed! I ordered what looked like a toasted ham and cheese sandwich that was in the window of the counter and expected a short wait while it was toasted again. I was waiting for around for what seemed like ages but probably less than 10 minutes to be presented with a massive carton of food. The sandwich was packed full of meat including sausage ham and pepperoni, which was smothered in a thick delicious orange coloured sauce. There was also a mountain of fried potato cubes to accompany it which was a very nice surprise. So from expecting a sandwich to go, I ended up with a feast that was great value for money

It's good solid fare, with the Feijoada with rice, meatballs and chicken peri-peri (nothing like Nando's) always on and a couple of daily specials. By far my favourite trader in the St. Nicholas market (and I've been eating there for 4 years now). The home cooked food is immense, keep an eye out for the ribs! All dishes come with an abundant choice of rice, potatas and fresh salad. If you are partial to a sweet after lunch, do try the Pastel - a fiver says you will quickly become addicted, maybe even popping over to the market for a coffee and cake at other times of the day...I'm averse to recommeding the place too much as I like to sit in and eat. If I could change anything, it would be a few more seats to guarantee my place at dinner hour.

We stumbled upon the food area in St Nicholas market, by chance whilst looking for Wallace and Grommit... There were 9 or 10 food areas all with fresh offerings. The display at Portuguese Taste was irresistible. There were just 4 plates on offer but this suites me - Id rather have a limitted fresh menu than a 100 things from a microwave. The chef explained each and our party chose 3 different ones - Chicken Piri Piri / Pork and red beans and Cod Casserole. All were delicious. at 4.50 = BARGAIN.The portions were very generous.Only snag is there is very limited seating - which is a shame as many customers were walking away as they didnt want a take away. We had been advised to try out Oz Restaurant by several friends and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel welcome the minute we were through the door and nothing was too much effort. The restaurant itself is modestly furnished - more like a bistro - but that added to the charm. The menu offers a god range of dishes and everything we had was full of flavour and well presented. We chatted to the owner who said they use local food as much as possible and organic where available and in season. Finally, the price was also modest. We will be going back
