We had been advised to try out Oz Restaurant by several friends and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel welcome the minute we were through the door and nothing was too much effort. The restaurant itself is modestly furnished - more like a bistro - but that added to the charm. The menu offers a god range of dishes and everything we had was full of flavour and well presented. We chatted to the owner who said they use local food as much as possible and organic where available and in season. Finally, the price was also modest. We will be going back

Cosy restaurant, good mezze, friendly and efficient service. We were a party of eight friends, we asked for a selection of mezze off menu all of which was delicious. Very generous portions which we didn't do justice to unfortunately.

This is a nice restaurant with very good food. The staff were lovely. But it's rather empty and a bit soulless. If you want good food and don't mind a cafe style place, this is lovely.

The Oz Restaurant could do with renovation as the decor is clearly getting rather tired. This aside the menu selection and the quality of food is very good. I was a little disappointed with the lamb kebab skewer that I had - the cut of lamb could have been better and leaner (preferably loin or fillet). The selection of starters is huge. With the benefit of hindsight I perhaps should have opted for a hot and cold DIY meze selection.

We visited on Saturday and although this is not plush venue the food and service were outstanding. The food was very fresh and authentic, the lamb was so tender. Oz is a wonderful restaurant on the triangle with a broad selection of Turkish food. Always go on for meze style small dishes and never disappoints. Only negative is when it's not open on a Sunday (but you can go to triangle grill next door to get some of their takeaway food!)

We have visited this restaurant quite a few times now with friends and always enjoy our visits. The service is efficient, pleasant and the food always tasty and well presented. Oz is my favourite place to come to in Bristol. All the best turkish and middle eastern mezze done just right (the ezme (crushed chillis) is particularly great), with lots of choice and tasty bread. Once I realised what we had right on our doorstep on the triangle I try to come in at least once a week.

Neither myself or my partner wanted to cook and fancied going for a takeaway. We went to out draw of menus and the Oz one came to hand. A quick gander and a phone call and we went for the three course set menu. Our food arrived promptly and the smell wafted from the packaging and filled our house. The food was delicious with each course being a delight. Overall very happy and we are looking forward to going back and ordering both takeaway and in the restaurant.

Go here and order a selection of any of their Turkish/Middle-eastern starters to make the most of their talented chefs. I had dinner on several occasions at Öz back in October. I went a little early — around 6:30 — to avoid any possible rush.Their humus and tavuk güveç (chicken casserole), among other things, are lovely, to say nothing of their baklava (a traditional pastry), which is fantastic. The room is nicely furnished and decorated without being overly sophisticated; on the walls are a number of pictures featuring landmarks such as the Fairy Chimneys of Cappadocia, Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus. The young waitress on duty was absolutely charming on each occasion.

Husband and I stumbled upon this family-run restaurant on a busy Saturday night. Ambience is just right for us - music played at a volume that you can comfortable hold a conversation across the table, lighting is bright enough to read a menu without giving you a headache. It's a cozy restaurant without feeling cramped. Service was quick. Husband ordered a Mixed Grill that came with veg and rice. Both meat and veg were cooked to perfection. I ordered a Musakka with rice, which was delicious. The portions were generous without going overboard - simply perfect for us, and the price was very reasonable. This is definitely a restaurant that we will visit again when we are next in Bristol.

I've eaten here twice in the last 12 months and can't really fault much in terms of the quality and quantity of the food. However on both occasions we were the only people in the place apart from the owners and their family/friends. On both occasions we shared one serving of the meze and then had a main course each; on both occasions we were stuffed. Tonight's meal was £37 for the two of us - including service but no alcohol. I'm torn between average and very good - it's good but not 4/5 stars.

We eat here as a last minute decision, having walked past and looked at the menu. It is on 'the triangle' at the top of Park street. Turkish food which is simple yet full of flavour. We decided to have the fixed menu which cost £22 each for starters, main, dessert and coffee. Starters was a lovely meze. I had mixed grill kebabs as a main course, chicken, lamb and beef. This was cooked perfectly with some very nice Al dente vegetables and rice. My partner had the Oz main course of lamb which was tender and packed with flavour. The Dessert menu had a choice of some great traditional Turkish delicacies and some traditional European dishes. I had a very nice Turkish coffee to finish and my partner had honey tea. Drinks and wine were very reasonable. The one thing that impressed me the most was the attentive but non intrusive service. Service was included in the bill (10*/.) You can clearly see the kitchen busy at work and this restaurant appears to be a family business where the mother sits in the kitchen and supervises. I am so glad I found this place as I have struggled to find restaurants in this part of Bristol which provide value for money, wholesome food without pretentious gourmet attitude. Well done Oz restaurant you have ticked all the boxes and deserve to succeed.

My partner and I visited one evening, and the menu was so appetising we ended up ordering several small dishes. The basket of fresh bread was so soft and moreish and perfect for dipping in the delicious houmous and tzaziki. The halloumi was grilled perfectly. Everything was delicious, but although the lady serving was lovely, the service was really lacking. The restaurant was not packed and there was only the one person serving but we were left to our own devices! We would have liked another drink with our meal, and after we had finished our meal we were just ignored for about 20 mins until she finally came over to clear the plates. My partner ordered a Turkish coffee which he really enjoyed but I ordered a creme brûlée which was shop-bought and pretty disappointing. We asked for the bill which took another half an hour to arrive and settle. Shame really as the food was amazing (except desert) but the service made it very much less enjoyable.

None of us knew of it despite driving past it many, many, times. From the street it looks a little uninspiring but inside it was very clean with a warm intimate feel. We decided to go for the £21.95 set menu. Mezze starter, main, dessert and coffee. There were cheaper set menus but we decided to be indulgent. We picked our individual choice of main and sat back to wait. The mezze came out a an individual mezze each which we thought strange. We were then told that we could only have one choice of main and so after discussion opted for the mixed grill expecting it be a plate for two. When it arrived, we sat in stunned silence. On the plate was one strip of pressed lamb, two 50 pence pieces sized pieces of beef and two pieces of grilled chicken which were the same size. To accompany it was a teacup mound of rice and a single portion of mixed vegetables. We thought that something else was to come, after all we were paying a lot of money. But no, the plates were taken away and my comments about it being small were not really noticed. We thought we heard for her folks asking if they got their own choice of main on set menus and were told yes. After half an hour of sitting and waiting to see if we were going to be offered the next course my companion got fed up waiting and spoke to the person who seemed to be the manager. She confirmed the one plate was for two. At this point we asked for the bill for what we had thus far. It still came to £24.00 but this stage we just wanted to go. So we just paid and left.If this what is served as the most expensive set menu, god knows what you getvasca regular dish. Won't be going there again.

Came on Trip Advisor to look for a place to eat. Chose Oz after reading the reviews...turned up on a horrible rainy night and entered this little haven. Oz is honest. Authentic food, fabulous Turkish bread, kind and helpful service. We shared a meze starter - an array of dishes containing masses of fresh herbs, nuts etc. then I had the mixed grill with tomatoes, sieved yoghurt and pitta - such tender meat and lovely subtle flavours! My husband had a lamb and aubergine dish which should have had rice with it. It was going to take a long time to cook rice so he was offered all manner of alternative side dishes. He chose the tabbouleh. It was much better than rice! We even ate dessert (which we never do). We have had the pleasure of discovering great Turkish cuisine in recent months - Tas Pide (Southwark, London) and Anatolia Cuisine (Brighton). I would now add this wonderful little restaurant hidden away in Triangle South, just up from the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. Excellent, well presented food served by marvellous hosts. Because of my wife's food intolerance I often book our restaurants in advance - our host took the trouble to confirm our booking on the day and to assure us the menu would be no problem for her. Five of us turned up for a team reunion – the place was quiet on a wet Tuesday in mid-December, but deserves to be busier. It’s on the corner of the Triangle, close to the big NCP, although the drivers in our party had chosen to park in Berkeley Square. Öz had a Christmas set menu which we all chose and all liked very much indeed. Olives to start, then a plate of meze each (a little of everything – cacik, hummus, that sort of stuff. All good except for the celery stuff (which unfortunately tasted of celery… ) The perils of the meze – everyone else cleared their plates. Then I had the Iskender which came with spicy sauce and yoghurt and was delicious; the salmon was marked as excellent; the lamb ala crem got probably the highest marks. The house red went very well with it all. I had apricots for dessert, stuffed with (I think) pistachios. Nice, but with hindsight I think I would have preferred the ice cream which everyone else chose. I looked up Öz in Google Translate – it came up with Self, Core, Essence, Soul. Add friendly and happy to that. We had a superb meal.

What a find! Excellent Turkish food, a lovely restaurant, attentive, pleasant wait-staff. Where are the customers? We ate here on a Monday evening and were the only ones in the restaurant. Maybe Bristolians just don't know about it yet - it is kind of hidden on Triangle South - but it offers excellent Turkish cuisine. We started with Borek, and knew from the first bite that we were in the right place. For mains, hubby had kebab while I had the Kuzu Guvech, which they described as a casserole, although it seemed more stew-like to me. Regardless, it was delish! The menu says Kuzu Guvech is diced lamb sauteed with tomatoes, mushrooms and peppers - they left out the part about the delicate and complex seasoning and the perfectly cooked lamb. Hubby enjoyed his, but envied me mine. The prices were very reasonable and the meal very enjoyable. Highly recommend it.

To start with, amongst the generally available drinks, you can get an Effes, a nice light Turkish larger and probably Raki (the Turkish version of Ouzo/Pernod) though I haven't asked for that. Yakut, a nice light red wine from Kavaklidere, is also available by the glass as well as bottle, so a trip down memory lane for those lucky enough to have tried it in Turkey/N Cyprus.......and for the wine snobs.......it travels well! lol.Their namesake dish "Oz" is very good, Iskender and the lamb stew. Fish dishes but I've only been 3 times so plenty of menu to go at. Prompt service with a following of regulars who just love the place, I've met several of them. The staff are very welcoming whilst remaining thoroughly professional; an efficient kitchen visible from the restaurant but without any intrusive noise. Obviously experienced chefs who will modify, within reason, certain dishes (I like my Iskender with a touch of chili as well as the tomato). The atmosphere is calm and restrained, just right for a romantic dinner or not overly exuberant groups.Just go there and enjoy, I did.

We tried this Turkish restaurant this night, and from the very first minute to the end we extremely feel satisfied. It's not only the yummy Turkish food, but also kind and sympatetic waitress made our night unforgetable. We tried mixed meze and "icli kofte" as starters and their special "OZ" as a main course. Also very wallet friendly this place is strongly recommended.

Went here for my birthday and had a lovely evening. The waitress was very polite and made us feel very comfortable, the restaurant itself was fairly small but made for a very relaxing atmosphere.Had not had much Turkish food before, but the menu choice was good and the food was of very good quality, well presented and most importantly, tasty! Good range of wines and starters as well. I was very surprised to receive a complementary bottle of cava on leaving, even though i had not mentioned when booking it was my birthday! A very thoughtful and generous gesture. Would definitely return!

Visited when the restaurant was very quiet but was disappointed by the service as we even had to wait ages to be served pudding and coffee despite there being few other customers. The food was OK but not as good as I had expected from previous reviews.Perhaps we hit it on a bad day but we certainly came away feeling underwhelmed by our visit.

Oz Restaurant is an absolutely fantastic place to eat, be it during the weekdays, on weekends, alone or with friends. I have been welcomed there very friendly and warmly, there is many different places to sit well and eat even better. Even though I ordered similar things each time I was there (that vegetarian starter plate is just soo good) I got surprised by something new each time. The warm bread that comes before your main course arrives makes you hungry for more. For the quality of food served there the price is very cheap. Id say that Oz restaurant is my favorite one in Bristol. Make sure you go there and enjoy a great mean on your own or with friends.

Having dined at Oz since just after they opened we have always had good food&service from Sam&Ahmed. They have worked very hard to build up the restaurant, and it seems to be working for them.We have had many happy meals here, with family&friends and celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and were always made to feel special. To read some of the negative reviews saddens me,especially ones saying the waitress(owner)was not very obliging. To read this about Sam I find it hard to believe. She has always been very helpful and concerned if something is not quite right. As for the portion size,we try not to stuff ourselves with the delicious bread whilst sharing the Meze as we then struggle with the main.I love their Moussaka,so flavoursome and the Shish is delicious. The poached pear dessert is to die for,as is the baklava. If you only try one restaurant in Bristol it has got to be Oz.

I didn't really know what to expect from Turkish cuisine but having experienced what it has to offer, I will never look back. The mixed meze starter is a taste sensation, allowing you to sample a vast range of flavours, wheting your appetite for what's in store! For main course, Tavuk (chicken) shish is not so simple when it is cooked to perfection on a charcoal grill and even the vegetables taste like something out of the ordinary. The proof really is in the pudding and if you've still got room for a dessert then look no further than the Baklava which really is the icing on the cake. Sure to make a lasting impression for all the right reasons. You'll be hard pushed to find a better independant restaurant in the central area.

Genuine Turkish cooking, tasty dishes and reasonable prices - what more can be said? Oh yes, a warm welcome and attentive service.A friend with a property in Antalya commented 'This is like a good restaurant in Turkey'.The menu is varied and includes a good-value lunchtime special. Reasonably priced wines include Turkish examples at prices lower than in most restaurants in Turkey.Anyone who has not yet sampled Turkish cuisine, or is disappointed with 'tourist fare' could hardly do better (and without spending a fortune) than this pleasant and unpretentious restaurant. Our favourites are their boreks (the best I've ever eaten); their mezze and any of the meats (try a mixed grill); rounded off, perhaps, with a home-made dessert and Turkish coffee!

I went to Oz with a group of friends last Saturday night. We all had the mixed mezze starter which included a wide selection of dips such as hummus and baba ganoush, Turkish meatballs, pastries, vine leaves and so on, it had been freshly prepared and was tasty. The mains were good too, although we all commented that the portions were quite small. I had the mixed grill in tomato sauce which was delicious although it only came with about 4 slices of pitta bread. One of my friends had the Oz casserole which was about 6 cubes of lamb atop a smoky aubergine puree. I hadn't seen that idea done like that before and the combination worked really well, but it was starter size. Another friend had a seafood stew which was very good. We had two bottles of red wine which was very drinkable. All in all we were happy, the service was efficient when there was a power cut and we didn't have to wait too long for our food, which was good without being outstanding. Our only minor gripe was that the main portions were rather small because they didn't include much 'filler' such as rice or bread. I wasn't blown away so I would probably try another Turkish restaurant before going back, but on the other hand I'd be very happy to eat there again.

we enjoyed eating here so much last week that we went back again this week. i would really recommend the oz casserole - not a casserole as I expected but a rich, silky aubergine puree with juicy, crispy lamb pieces on top. hummus is very good. mint tea with honey is lovely too - made with tons of mint. the waitress was friendly, thoughtful and welcoming. recommended.

Having made the mistake of not booking a restaurant on a Saturday night visiting Bristol we were very pleased to find this gem. Living not far from Green Lanes in north London we do know a good Turkish meal and this did not disappoint. Food was good value and served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Shared starters of Bakla and Patlican Ezme both of which were enjoyed with Turkish bread. Then I had Chicken Couscous whilst my partner had Icli Kofte - the latter being particularly interesting. Pleasing wine list too. In light of previous comments we have absolutely no connection with the restaurant.

Or at least be very careful what you order. The food is good but the quantities for some of the meals was pathetic. I'm a student and I was at dinner with my family. Two of the party had the £10 set menu, which is a starter and a main course. These portion sizes were fair enough. You had one proper starter, and one proper main. However, the other two of us had the £14 set menu, which is a selection of dishes. However, you receive about six little dishes, each very small, and four of the six are non meat, therefore costing very little to produce. In your 'meal' you also have 1 slice of hallumi cheese, 1 inch long kofta and another 1 inch variation on a kofta. The £10 menu was far better than the £14 menu which frankly reeked of a rip off. We were left feeling very disappointed, and not impressed with the response from staff which was 'sorry, I can't do anything about it'. Everyone says on here it was packed, it was deserted when we were there, on a Saturday night! Parents, if you want to take your student out for dinner, don't go here!

We had an early dinner at Oz and found the staff really friendly and attentive. The menu is quite wide ranging and the food was really nice, both the starter and main were tasty without being overly heavily (which was good as we were going out for drinks afterward). The table next to us was served a lamb dish rather than a vegetarian one, understandably to the horror of the customer. The staff were really apologetic for the mistake, the dish (and it's replacement) were taken off the bill and the correct dish was brought out by the chef who took time to apologise for his error.Food was served in good time, recommended.

We visited Oz last Saturday night, having seen the reviews on TripAdvisor, and had a great time. The place was full, always a good sign, but we'd booked and had a table in the window. The menu is extensive, with something for everyone including a good vegetarian selection. Our choices were all freshly cooked and delicious. We had Efes beer and the house red - again very good. The front-of-house lady seemed to do everything singlehandedly (amazing!) and was very friendly and welcoming. Overall we definitely recommend a visit.

Following the great reviews on Trip Advisor, we thought it necessary to experience Oz for ourselves and I'm thrilled we did! Having dined at quite a few restaurants in Bristol, I can honestly claim that this is one of my favourites! The venue itself was warm, inviting and authentically decorated. Unlike large chain restaurants, Oz has a charming uniqueness that urges you to return again and again. The menu had a fantastic selection to choose from, in particular a vast array of vegetarian dishes. For those that enjoy meat, you won't have trouble choosing a delicious, authentic Turkish lamb dish. The waitress was absolutely charming and had the service spot on. She was very pleasant and happy to serve us, attentive and knowledgable of the menu, which resulted in some wonderful recommendations of dishes. I shall return to this spectacular little find, in the very near future. As the dishes were reasonably priced, Oz is a great restaurant that you can return to quite often whilst still feeling like you're being treated to some special every time you visit.

Don't be put off by the unprepossessing exterior - this is one of the best places to eat in Bristol. It's been our default setting for ages now. The food is excellent, all cooked by Ahmed to an exacting standard (the tomatoes in my salad were peeled!). Vegetables cooked to perfection (I can highly recommend the Turlu vegetable stew - best aubergine ever) and the lamb so tender you could cut it with a fork. Sam, Ahmed's wife, is the perfect hostess - plenty of attention when you want it and happy to explain as much about the food as you like - but leaving you to get on with it if you want. I urge you to try it. You will definitely want to return.

Went there on a rainy Friday night, but the atmosphere inside was warm, friendly and inviting. Really friendly and helpful service - just the right amount of attention from the staff. Best of all, the food was the best Turkish food we've ever had, and we've been to quite a few Turkish restaurants, mainly in London, as it's one of my favourite types of food. My partner is a vegetarian and he was impressed with the choice on offer, having finally selected the layered spinach/potatoe/pepper dish... he wasn't disappointed. Colourful, flavourful food - healthy - the Turkish house red wine was really nice too, and all for a very reasonable price. The Baklava was the best we'd ever tasted, and my poached pear dessert was a real picture of perfection, and tasted even better than it looked. Will definitely return.

We went to this restaurant because we were intrigued by the other reviews on Trip Advisor for this restaurant and applaud these contributors as they gave an excellent recommendation. We went for lunch on Saturday, and it offers wonderful value at a lunch special of £7-95, and also has an evening special at £9-95 (can't comment on that one but if it's anything like the lunch food it will be good.We were a party of 4, the 6 yr old ate home made meatballs and they served it with a choice of chips or rice and vegetables and there was a few choices on the kids menu. In fact there was plenty of choice for him from the main menu and he sampled/tasted some of that too.Adults choose starters of Falafel, Borek (feta cheese with spinach in filo) and Kisir (salad of mixed nuts, bulgur, onions and tomato sauce) for starters. All delicious - our favourite was the Kisir, There were 6 starter choices. For our mains we choose a vegetable musakka, Chicken Shish and Shish Kofte, the two latter dishes served with rice and vegetables. Once again, all lovely and the Shish Kofte was our favourite. There were 6 main course choices - also serving calamair and a chicken casserole or chicken salad. The owner? told us that the menu is changed weekly and according to season..We had a couple of beers but they have a wine menu (can't recall the selection).Folks, can't recommend this place enough. The proprietress/manager/front of house was charming and it was clear it's a family affair as there were family members assisting in the preparation of the food.Great value, and a wonderful food experience. The place is spotless and while the view is right onto a street, they have some plants, including a real tomato plant to dress the window. They also have a range of set menus offering alot of tasting opportunities.

This is one of our favourite restaurants. We've been going for a few years now. The food, Turkish, is always excellent and the service, by the proprietress, is always charming. We have even brought our children there and they liked it too. The location, on the Triangle, is not great though convenient, but the interior is very nice and comfortable.I should add one caveat - we've only dined there at lunchtime so I don't know how they get on in the evenings, when I imagine it's a lot busier.

I got a pastel de nata and it was just ok. The top wasn’t caramelized very much. The tart dough was a bit dry as well. I’ve had better pastels de nata in Canada. I will say the service was great and I didn’t have to wait long before I received my order. The price was also good (£1.50).
