Portland in Brighton and Hove

Amazing food, lovely atmosphere and run by a lovely lady. The smoked mackerel sandwich and tuna melt were the best ever tasted. Great coffee too! Well worth a visit

A few strides from the beach front in Kemptown, Brighton you can find the jewel of a place - Portland Cafe. The atmosphere was an absolute bliss accompanied by sweet mannered staffs. The seating was very inviting and you can rest assured that they are very comfortable. I ordered the Mature Cheddar, Sweet Chutney and Leaves sandwich - an absolute heaven in your mouth. It caresses all the right pallets of your tongue, very delightful indeed. Each sip of Cappuccino Coffee also enhanced the overall experience of this wonder of a place. Definitely worth a try!

Love this place. Lovely atmosphere - relaxed and warm. Quality and variety of the food offered is great and the coffee is always delicious. Dog-friendly is always a selling point. Try this for a quiet cake and coffee, off the beaten track but worth the relaxing feel and friendly welcome.

The Portland coffee and sandwich shop is a hidden treasure. The shop is actually in Kemp Town not too far from the centre of Brighton or if you have to visit the hospital, well worth a visit. It really is a gem, with lovely food and coffee but also with tastefully designed art pieces. I will defiantly be calling in again soon.

This friendly coffee shop has coffee and so much more. Cakes are delicious, and the quirky things that you can buy range from jewellery to multi coloured animal heads to hang on the wall

Popped in here when I had half and hour to kill and was very pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, good coffee, excellent cake. What's not to like?

I felt immediately at home in this place! Friendly attentive staff, clever and comfortable interior space, and most importantly, very good coffee. The free wifi was also appreciated. I don't live in the Kemptown area but I would come back here everyday if I did... well done you guys and continued success!

La residence è situato a due passi dal mare e a 1 km circa dal Brighton Pier , attrazione da vedere assolutamente, con numerose giostre e sala giochi. Il mare è freddo e c’è molto vento, ma basta una giacchetta in più e si sta davvero da dio.

We were taking a friend to the nearby Brighton Hospital and whilst waiting for them we wandered nearby for a bite of lunch. We settled on the Portland Cafe and were really pleased with our choice. The tables are quirky recycled school desks from a bygone era. Each has a pack of playing cards on them to keep you entertained. There is free wifi available and your dog is welcome to join you inside. The staff are very friendly and the coffee great, ideal to wash down the excellent pastries.

This busy little coffee shop is on my doorstep. It was my first time in here and I was pleasantly surprised. The old school desks that you sit at brought back memories, and the service was fast and friendly. Good choice of coffees and teas, along with cakes and sandwiches. You can also purchase various items such as lampshades, piggy banks and various crockery, as well as artwork Will definitely pay a return visit

The café was totally empty when I went in. There were two members of staff there - one was making a sandwich for a takeaway customer, the other girl was having a conversation with her friend. Both of them completely ignored me; not even a greeting. I waited for several minutes at the counter, still being ignored, then went and sat down at a table, feeling invisible. I was finally served after a further wait, with no apology. I won't be going here again.
