Absolute gem in the centre of Southampton! Fantastic atmosphere, really friendly staff (we were served by Mel & Brit) and absolutely wonderful, locally sourced meats and cheeses. We licked our sharing board clean! Wine list was also great and went down a treat.

Brilliant first visit to this lovely restaurant. We were served by Marzena, who was very friendly and explained everything to us very well. The food we had was beautifully presented and more than enough for the 4 of us. Marzena was very attentive throughout the meal, and we were all very impressed. The slice of birthday cake for my husband was such a nice touch and really made our night out more special. There was a great selection of drinks too. Will definitely come back again.

Just great! Nice setting…we went lunch time very quiet however the food was fab, I would recommend they put labels on the meats and cheese on the charcuterie board so you know what’s what!

We took our mum here for Mother’s Day and it was perfect. She had the best time- staff were professional and on top form, the food was stunning and the atmosphere was ideal. Will definitely be back - cannot recommend more!

Second visit to this absolutely wonderful gem. Staff are amazing, so friendly and knowledgeable and nothings too much trouble. The ambiance is calming and delightful. For a cheese board in a cheese and wine house it was very poorly plated and styled. Random fruits and vegetables that did not go with the cheese and meets and just added space to the platter with no purpose. The cheese cuts were also all the same; cutting cheese in different styles to make them feel different helps with the styling. There’s only so much you can do with cheese and wine and that’s plating and presentation. With that wrong you might as well just get it from Sainsbury’s and at least it’s cheaper. Did not use to be like this, sadned that it changed.

Absolutely amazing! I’m coeliac, and was delighted to find that nearly everything could be adapted. Our waitress, Melissa, was excellent and had great knowledge of coeliac requirements. My boyfriend isn’t gluten free, and while we shared a Duo board, he was given a board of regular bread and I had my own separate gluten free board. 10/10, will be retuning very soon!

This was our first visit to Porters, but will not be our last. The selection of cheese and meats were extensive and the staff helped up choose. The prosecco and wine kept coming during our lunch without the need to ask. And the staff were very attentive with special mention to Melissa and Britney. Thank you once again and I cannot recommend porters enough. ❤️

This spot is great for a social evening where you can graze as much or little as you would like whilst enjoying good wine and company. Melissa was particularly attentive and very knowledgable of the menu. We were very well looked after by her. Thank you!

We were greeted in a very friendly manner on this our second visit. The service from Mel and Brit was excellent. Our duo board was of a high standard. We selected a fine wine from the impressive wine list and together with the tasty charcuterie this made for a very good evening. The ambience is perfect, nothing was rushed and the staff are a credit to the place with their smiles and professional, but relaxed, approach to the job.

Amazing place. The homemade hummus was incredible. Local made cheese and meats are amazing. The signature cocktails are perfect. I see why this was just rated the best restaurant in Hampshire. A must visit place!

Good food. But!! Having visited today I would give them a big plus for the food but a big zero for misleading information on their website. We went for the Bottomless Graze option as advertised on their website, note the use of the word graze. We ordered food and were offered a bottle of red, white, rose or prosecco. We did think it would probably be wine etc. by the glass so one of us could have prosecco and the other something different but we weren't that bothered so went with a bottle of prosecco. The food arrived and we tucked in, enjoying it but after a while we were running out of bread and some of the meat and cheese, it was very tasty, btw they give you a Duo Board as part of this option. So we ordered some more bread and more of a couple of the items we had originally selected. We continued to enjoy the food. The bill arrived, on it were additional charges to the set charge for a Bottomless Graze. We had been charged for the extra meat and cheese we ordered. The bill was queried. Apparently their Bottomless Graze is not bottomless food but bottomless drink only. My understanding, and the dictionary's, of the word graze applies primarily to consuming food. Not to Porters though. According to Porters it applies to the drink only. So by way of information I thought I would point this out to any future customers. My suggestion is drink as many bottles of wine etc. as you want but don't over graze on the food without being aware that you will be charged for it. A further suggestion to Porters is change the name from Bottomless Graze to Bottomless Drink so people like me who don't understand your meaning of the word graze don't get confused.
