I now understand why they have been No 1 for so long, lovely staff, excellent food and plenty of it, very reasonably priced. My only complaint is that we were visiting Southampton from Manchester so isn't on our doorstep...well done miss ellies if we are here again see you soon

I was there for the first time today. We bought a house nearby and I decided to look around the area. I had a vegetarian breakfast which was amazing and very fresh. I didn't notice that you can only pay in cash, but the lady behind the counter said I could withdraw cash from a nearby ATM and pay later. I was surprised by the warmth and trust. There aren't many places like that anymore.

What a lovely little place. Breakfast was excellent, and the service was equally good. Bonus, they are cash only, your card is worthless there. If I lived local to Southampton I'd be a regular there.

Lovely home cooked dishes. Well cooked. I had a lovely salmon dish. Fresh. Friendly.

I think it's really unfair that we have to give them one star when they should give us an option of no stars I decided to come back here just to have a look around as it's my old town and where I used to live as a child and for hey let's go and support the locals in the coffee shops when India really bad attitude felt like I was going into someone's living room unwanted. Coffee was really nasty 🤢. I decided I didn't want anything to eat after seeing other people's dish and the way they spoke to us at the tills was a bit disgusting to be fair so I just said let's go didn't smell right there either for some reason I just followed my gut telling me not to eat any of their food

Best trad breakfast I’ve had in yonks. Gracious and warm service: lovely people. Plus GLUTEN FREE fry-up options without any fuss. Loved it!

Very cute small business with very friendly service!

A small but cozy place for breakfast. There is limited seating inside but they also have tables outside. The food was very delicious and the server was very friendly. It feels like you are sitting in your own home. The service was quick and even the chef asked us about our experience. There are few parking spots just infront of the cafe.

Good old fashioned cafe where the prices are great and the food phenomenal. Greeted with a warm smile, and they make you feel at home. If you want a comfortable stop that will leave your wallet, happy this is it.

We love this cafe, it’s become a favourite of ours for brunch and lunch! Portions are a good size and very reasonably priced. The owners are so lovely and provide a great service. Cannot recommend this gem of a place enough! :)

Very impressed for a small cafe from customer service to quality. We were seated and when asked about ordering I checked to see if the vegetarian sausages might be GF after assuming they wouldn't offer an alternative naturally. I didn't expect they would be, and it turned out they weren't but they did in fact offer and GF version sausage for their breakfast anyway. Was very pleased. They let me know they didn't have any GF bread available, only after having gone to check the shops (amazing, very much appreciate going above like that) but it just so happened I had some in the car after a food shop that they were more than happy to toast and serve with my breakfast for me. The food was great, the customer service and friendliness from everyone was so refreshing. Will definitely be popping by again

Holy moly !! Just had a sausage, egg, bacon baguette with 2 hash browns on the side 😋 , can honestly say I'm stuffed with the most fabulous food . I'd highly recommend this cafe if u like your food ! Served with a smile too not often you can say that .

After a long drive from Birmingham to Southampton a wonderful cooked breakfast (for lunch) was just what I needed to handle the drive home. Every flipped eggs were cooked to perfection. Thank you.

Me and the wife came across this little gem last week and have been back since , the breakfast is superb with quality flavours to match and cooked to perfection highly recommend to anyone also the the other foods on the menu coming out looks lush will be trying out more soon . i have to give it 5 stars from me and ive been going to cafe's all me life and glad to of found this one for sure

This is one of four of my favourite cafes in Southampton, I love coming here, as it is local to me , great staff, great food, and lovely atmosphere, well worth a visit

No wonder they were considered the best cafe in Southampton so many times. The place is small, definitely consider booking a table upfront. We did not book a table and we visited during a weekend, the lovely people still managed to accommodate us. The food was really good, big portion, and the price is really fair! I ordered a sandwich and a cake, wasn't able to eat both and took the cake away.

Lovely hot fresh breakfast & friendly staff, a reasonably small place so I think important to free your seat promptly but certainly not rushed to do so.

It is nowhere announced on their site that you must book in advance a table and only cash accepted as well. Not impressed going for the first time.

Very friendly staff in a traditional breakfast cafe. Food was well priced, cooked and served promptly. The only complaint is a couple of seats too close to the door so either get bumped or draft, but I'm being picky!

Best cafe in the area staff very helpful with any dietary you may have, menu changes every couple of weeks so always something different, excellent value for money

Absolutely fantastic, cooked to order and the best ingredients used, really cost effective compared to other cafés in the region, was lucky to get a table on a Sunday as this little gem is always packed, I recommend Miss Ellie’s for their food and friendliness towards every customer who walks through the door

This cafe offers a really friendly atmosphere and great value for money. The menu has a really good variety, the breakfast is really good. This is a great weekend treat.

Should of had the Lite breakfast as large was to much.Very friendly only problem was the place gets full of cooking smells and it can be over powering,although there was an extraction hood it wasn't seemingly being used or if it was as it appeared a domestic one its grossly under powered.

Found this little cafe by accident and it's the best breakfast I have had in a long while!

Food was very good and the staff super friendly and attentions. Unfortunately no room inside we had to eat outside, on the cold, lucky me didn't rain.

My daughter and myself stopped to have a cup of coffee before we went on down the road to see my late wife laid out at the co-op funeral parlour which I would avoid at all cost as my wife was not even their so we went back to have another coffee I would really advise people to go their as the coffee is lovely thanks for taking the time to read this Mr j Emmett

IT'S A SOME WHAT BUSY AND PLEASINGLY CLEAN PLACE TO EAT BUT I FEEL THEY'RE OUT OF TOUCH WHEN IT COMES TO PRICING.. ON APPROACH I WAS TOLD SORRY THEIRS NO TABLES LEFT. I SAID BUT I'M TAKING AWAY! APPROACHING THE COUNTER I WAS ASKED WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE CAN I GET A SAUSAGE SANDWICH PLEASE! I PROCEEDED TO GET MY WALLET OUT AND WAS TOLD £4.00 PLEASE! MONEY IN HAND MY SANDWICH WAS IN MY HAND IN AROUND 30 SECONDS.. THINKING TO MYSELF WOW THAT WAS QUICK ON COLLECTING MY SANDWICH I FOUND IT WAS BARELY WARM! Great quality food and very friendly attentive staff

Cash only guys !!! Not a bad breakfast , bacon nice / sausages are ok/ fried eggs overdone/ hash browns ok / black puding nice. Biggest downfall was the cutlery, it was so thin it actually hurt my hands truing to cut my breakfast up. It was a total put off tbh. Travelled here as went on trip advisor as it got a 5 star review .. .. 3 stars from me .

Brilliant cafe - the food was amazing and the hospitality second to none. Went this morning with two young children and they could not have been hospitable enough. Breakfast was 10/10.

I can down from Surrey to meet some relatives that had stopped on a cruise at Southampton. Very welcoming and great food. We sat at the table for nearly 4 hours drinking tea and eating. I'd recommend to everyone in the area!

Small but perfectly formed, this well established little cafe provides a wide range of home-cooked lunch meals and also an excellent choice of breakfasts. All very clean and efficient with a friendly, cheerful staff who are very welcoming and provide table service. Added to that, this is a dog-friendly cafe which is a real boon when you really don't want to sit outside in the cold and wet! Strongly recommended.

Excellent food and great people talk to

We went today for lunch for the first time today and the 2 waitresses were very friendly and welcoming as was the man who was preparing the food. We both had a baguette, the food was lovely and fresh as was the salad at the side. We will definitely be back again soon

Best place in Southampton for an excellent breakfast, with a bonus of helpful friendly staff.

This is a tiny little place in Bitterne Triangle and has a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. I didn't eat on this visit but enjoyed a cracking cappuccino. My friend had the same and also the carrot cake, which apparently is to be recommended! Will update rating when I've had a meal there. The food looked and smelled great though! Being such a small place, the tables are really close together. Not a big deal, but if you are needing something more intimate or somewhere for private discussion, you may find this difficult here.
