Piecaramba! in Southampton

We decided to visit Piecaramba! after watching a video on YouTube by Beard Meets Food. As someone who hadn't eaten many pies, I was really excited to try one of the best pies in Southampton. We ordered their pie meal for £13, which includes a pie, mashed potatoes, and a side. I ordered their famous Piecaramba pie. The filling of the pie was very unconventional, which was minced meat, beans, and tomatoes – you could say it's basically a chili-filled pie. It was very delicious and also very filling. For sides, I preferred cheesy beans, and it was a great combination with the mashed potatoes. My girlfriend, on the other hand, ordered the Holy Cow pie, which was a steak and ale pie, a British classic. That one was also very tasty. Sadly, I didn't enjoy their onion gravy because it had a weird aftertaste, but oh well, at that point, it was all over my pie. I also want to add that they have very cool decorations in the restaurant. For instance, the toilet is filled with Star Wars statues and wallpaper. Also, they have a few vintage Nintendo consoles lying around so you can play them while you're waiting for your food. They also have a pie challenge if anyone fancies it. Overall, a great restaurant in Southampton that serves banging pies, so give it a go if you want to try a classic.

Best pies I have ever had! Pastry was delicious and the pie was filled to the brim. Lots of delicious filling choices, all served up in a very fun and query restaurant. Service was very friendly. I will definitely be back when I am next in the area.

Great variety of pies, mash and peas or beans. Good service and food arrived hot. Would recommend if you are a fan of pies.

A few friends and I go out every quarter for a meal. We decided to try here on this occasion. Over all looks were good, the food was good very tasty. We sat for a while before being served that includes drinks before ordering food, but could see they were busy so understandable. The manager was very friendly and feel his customer service was excellent. Will think about bringing the family down in the future.

A very retro place where we played street fighter before some piping hot pies and mash with gravy. Which tasted great. Simon the manager was very accommodating for four blokes around 50 with a sense of humour. Downside lighting was bad couldn't see food properly and whilst some risque joking the millennial/snowflake who couldn't take a older person's joke was a bit disappointing but then clarified she was only 16 so we all felt bad. Would go again food good 😊

Bring back the scroom raider. Or if no longer doing please take off your menu or ensure staff say it's not available when handing out menu, was devastated. Yummy food as a coeliac. So nice to have a proper pie and mash again

What a hidden treasure! Loads to look at and to talk about, super friendly staff and best of all the food was gorgeous. Being from the midlands, I am super fussy about mushy peas, but these guys nailed it! Highly recommended!

Had an amazing meal in Piecaramba! Simon was really lovely and also supportive of our friend doing the piescraper challenge. Would highly recommend to anyone with any allergies as majority is gluten free with great vegan and vegetarian options too! Thank you very much!!!

Great food, service was lovely but very slow. An hour wait for food this evening and staff finished way past closing.

Very filling and great value for money! The service was great but was a very quiet time so can’t judge it fully. I found that the pie pastry was too much for me and quite dry and the mash wasn't that creamy. Overall for the price I can’t complain and the vast variety of pie options is really intriguing to see! For drinks I can definitely recommend the hot chocolates, specifically the dark one was very nice and a unique way of serving it!

Have been here a few times now and always have a great experience. The pies are really top notch and the level of choice is awesome, as well as a really wide variety of soft and alcoholic drinks. The staff are really friendly and welcoming too and never had a bad experience.

Do yourself a favor and go to Piecaramba. The food is truly delicious. Remarkably good. Simon, the host/manager, was so polite and gracious and makes you feel right at home. This place deserves the praise it gets. Simple in the right way and delicious. 5/5

Was Amazing tasting food and I tried the Piescraper challenge, was defo a tough challenge and ended up failing but was so good to try, staff were super friendly and kind, thank you to Megan who brought out my challenge and for the great service! Literally never been let down by Piecarumba, always delicious and satisfying whether it's in soton or wherever you find it. Plenty of veggie options now that are actually delicious and it blows my mind it's all gluten free! Love it so much we had it for our wedding, and it was wonderful then! Like I said, delicious EVERY time.

Fabulous food. Pies are very yummy. Despite the guy being on his own the service was great.

What a lovely little place we found for a quick meal. The decor is comic/Star Wars themed throughout, with Super Nintendo units at the tables. The pies were delicious, I tried the chicken ham and leek which was generous and chunky, the mustard mash was smooth and creamy. I also had a little of the steak and ale pie which was again very generously filled. The gravy was thick but possibly a little too salty. The liquor is not traditional South London liquor, rather more like creamy parsley sauce. The standout of the whole place was the waitress. She was amazingly attentive and so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for her, especially with our fussy requests not to have beans and gravy on the same plate and other such travesties. She was better than many of the staff we've experienced at fine dining restaurants. A 5* maître d'hôtel in the making!

Family birthday celebration lunch We were seated upstairs and I really felt for the waitress climbing the steep steps numerous times to serve our party of 9, but she was brilliant and very sweet. Food was superb. Nice funky place. Loved it and will come again.

Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner and was blown away. From an American, this place was excellent in all categories. The food was great and the portions were just right. The service was attentive and the restaurant was cozy with funny little details. We will plan our schedule around eating here the next time we are in town.

GLUTEN FREE HEAVEN! Never had so many options as a gluten free vegetarian! Lovely meal, the server was great and good vibes.

I loved their pies and I tried the new pizza's and was very happy especially at the low cost. Simon and Izzie were fantastic and very attentive to our table even though they were quite busy. Also they have slush puppies which are a childhood favourite but if you're a grown up kid at this point they are available with a couple of shots just to help end a perfect meal. Go check them out or live a life of regret of what could have been. 10/10 all the way 😋

I went there with a few friends, the food is delicious, atmosphere is fun, and the service is excellent however the pizza was a bit pricey for what you are getting.

Had their pies at a local brewery a couple months back and they were great. Was in Southampton the day decided to pop in for lunch to be told to take a seat and the guy would be over in 5 minutes to take my order, 20 minutes later my order hasn't been taken and my break is coming to an end so unfortunately had to leave. Will try again another day with more spare time.

Excellent pies and drinks. Doubling up on pies sounds like it's too good to be true, but it do be that true.

Such wonderful food and so many great options. The portion sizes were really generous (no one in the group could finish all the food) and the Pieful Tower option was very good value for money, getting another full size pie added to your meal for only a couple of pounds more, which is ideal if you want to try a couple of flavours. The service was great and the staff were lovely. I wish we lived closer so we could come here more often.

Food was very good, nice selection of pies. Service was a bit slow and disorganised. It wasn't very busy when we arrived, menus brought to us quickly but then left for a long time with no service. Finally someone asked if we had been asked about drinks, we hadn't so they took our order. We didn't notice the specials until after we had our food, which was a shame no one pointed them out to us. Definitely could do with at least one other server, organise what everyone is doing and don't forget about tables. Sort this out and def 5 🌟

Fantastic place, didn't have a chance to eat as I was running late to meet friends but the food looked 5* will be booking a table soon! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, managing to accommodate us on a Friday night. Atmosphere and decor were amazing and I honestly can't wait to go back again!

Simon was a delightful waiter, Jane served excellent hot food. The Moroccan Roll pie was a great new experience and the Easter lamb pie was positively received!

I went to Piecaramba with some friends. I had a cracking pie (Holy Cow!) with mustard mash and chilli minted mushy peas (and onion gravy!) I would recommend adding the “Pie & Mighty” to your pie for crispy shallots and cheddar makes for a cracking pie topper. TIP: Definitely book a table for folk were being turned away! A must visit

The décor is great and it's a cosy little place, but the pies were dry and the watery gravy didn't help. The mash portion is small but you get plenty of mushy peas or baked beans.

Delicious pies! Place is nice and has outdoor seating, staff are friendly and welcoming. I wish the mash portions were bigger though, but maybe I'm just a pig because I normally have a mountain of it. However, having room left, I also tried their desserts, which are equally delicious 😋

Called to check availability arrived only to be told most if advertised menu was unavailable absolute dissapontment first and last time

Gone down hill since our last visit dramatically! Slow service, one person on his own. After waiting nearly an hour, our pies were out in front of us they went off to get cutlery, it was torture waiting for the necessary tools to eat the food we had been waiting so long for. If you street park you will need more than an hour. We got back to a ticket. Bad times.

This place deserves a couple extra stars for atmosphere! I was hit with nostalgia upon stepping foot inside the restaurant and great effort was put into all the decorative details. Now onto the food: pies were phenomenal both in presentation and taste. We ordered the Pieoneer, Bounty Hunters Chicken, chick chick shroom and hen party. All of them were great though Bounty Hunters barbecue sauce made this pie extra tasty! The gravy was phenomenal as well, went amazing with the cheesy mash and mushy peas. We were stuffed by the end and unfortunately had to skip dessert which was a real shame as the mon cherry sounded phenomenal! Will have to return again the the near future hopefully.

It took a very long time to receive drinks and found out last minute that they did not have the drink I requested. However the pie meal definitely made up for it! Great portions and very well cooked.

What a fantastic idea just not fully realised. Its menu could do with a bit more variety, but the pie was delicious as was the mash and mushy peas. The mash was perfect consistency, the mush peas not too mushy and added flavour than just plain peas. The only downside was the service was very slow, and the facilities needed modernization.

Amazing experience with beautiful decorations and tasty pies

Recommended by friends but shocked we didn't know it was there, really had a great lunch at a fair price given the quality of the pie, mash, mushy peas & gravy. On entering we were greeted by a smiling young lady ('Hannah') who was as laid back & cool as the venue itself & immensely competent. Just can't fault the place & can't fault good old Pie & Mash but they do have a few edgy choices if more adventurous than my beef filled pie. Couldn't of wanted for a better lunch experience & thank you to all staff as of course there were others we didn't see.

Well themed restaurant with friendly staff. The food was really good. Only thing of note was the ambient temperature upstairs was way too hot. Prices were very reasonable for the portions.

Had the opportunity to sample some free Pie and Mash today from Piecaramba. I had the steak and ale pie, and it was the best pie I’ve had. I will be going back for more with my mates.

Novel but basically a pie and mash shop with hipster additions. My pie was tasty but suspiciously chill in the middle.

Booked a table for 11. Accommodated is no problem with access for my friend (his birthday) in a wheelchair. After making the booking, a problem occurred, my friends dietary needs meant that actually he couldn’t eat the pies. Well, Phil the owner stepped up when I asked if he could cook something completely off the menu. Phil went above and beyond and cooked my friend the food he wanted. We all had a brilliant time. The food is great and at exceptional value. Great fun. Thank you to all the staff. Would recommend.

I was eating at this gorgeous gem of a shop, the decoration is second to none. I love the themes and was served by a lovely waiter called Arthur. 5 star service and was very welcoming. Would eat here again!

That was an amazing English brunch breakfast . Everything in pies 🥮!! I took the traditional one as it was my first time with that kind of breakfast but all the options seemed tasty 🤤! Sided with cheesy mashed potatoes (it had 3 other options) and chilly mint semi-mashed peas (beans as an alternative) and a white gravy (2 options here). Absolutely delicious and gets you full 100% !! Very friendly and helpful stuff with a carefree atmosphere... Also had some old arcade games (mario cart) in some tables to pass time or keep the kids occupied🎮🕹️ .

Great little restaurant. Really tasty pies. Easy ordering. Lots of veggie, vegan and Gluten Free options. Retro decoration theme works really well. Great Value. Seemingly always busy, so book ahead. My only complaint is having a Veggie dish called 'Porky Pie'.

Cheap spirits used in cocktails but a premium price paid .... food served on cold tin plates hence food was cold

Don’t be fooled by the simple exterior! A cool restaurant with very friendly staff. I love how they have designed their interior and set the place out. I had the blue steel pie which was rich, with tender pieces of beef steak, and perfectly cooked pastry. The cheesy mash was creamy and I have no complaints. The mushy peas I especially enjoyed, with their unique chilli tang, it added variety to my meal! Lastly, the gravy was just how I like it, not too “watery”, but thick with flavor! Overall, an awesome experience and tasty food. A well deserved review! I would recommend going with family or some trendy friends.

I'd heard about this place but never tried. So when I googled places to eat today, piecaramba came up so decided to try.! I'm so glad I came. I will definitely come back soon too! We need more places like this. Totally unique, the staff are so genuinely friendly and polite too. Very rare these days.! Food was spot on! Absolutely delicious!

I have eaten here time and time again and Piecaramba never fails to disappoint. The restaurant has a unique comic book atmosphere, the food is always delicious and very well priced.

Food amazing!! Value amazing! Highly reccomend picaramba!! If you are brave or have a very big appetite go for the challenge.

I tried your pie yesterday as I did last year and didn't like. it cold .and the so called mash and a teaspoon of beans its not got any better .I really don't know how you manage to sale them.

The selection of pies is superb, the decor is fantastoc and everyone was friendly. Tried the double pie meal, not to be underestimated!

Terrible service, pies were good but the sundaes were particularly disappointing. Avoid!
